The Big Book of Booper Snoots is a non-fiction children’s picture book. It could be enjoyed for younger children learning their alphabet and animals, as each page contains an animal starting with that letter. However, it also would be great for older readers, as it is full of fun facts about said animals. I am an adult, and learned soooo much from this book. My 8 year old enjoyed it too. It is quite long, so we didn’t read it in one setting- which is unusual for a children’s book. However, we still loved it and would be a great book to have in any personal of class/school library. It was not bad as an e-book either, with good sizing and picture clarity.

I just finished reading Ten Little Sandpipers to my grandboys and they wanted to start reading this one straightaway. As with the other wonderful books Ten Little Sea Turtles is one of the Marine Life Counting Collection. Doesn’t matter what young age the kids are they will be enchanted when they see the little Sea Turtles and learn all about them, where they are found and other things about Marine life. This counting book it is full of fun facts and educational information. The bright and colourful pictures help the story along and which is told in an interactive and rhyming way. With a bright spark in their eyes, I could see their little imaginations working as they learned about life under the sea by counting. The added bonus that Kim has included is for you to download a song that makes it even more fun to learn. As with the others this adorable adventure story helps bring the sea to life for little ones.

Another family favorite! Dinopotamus just wants to go to school to learn just like the other kids but quickly realizes he is not quite the same. My neice and nephew devoured this book just as they do any other Wickstrom book I bring them. I love the life lessons the stories always include, such as inclusiveness, and there is nothing wrong with being a little different. As usual, the book was well written, and the illustrations were eye-catching. I would recommend this book to others.

Oscar and Emmy’s First Christmas is the fifth book in the Oscar and Emmy series by Terri Sabol, but takes us right back to the beginning when Oscar and Emmy were kittens, spending their first Christmas with their newly adopted furever family. It is a cute, uplifting children’s story that is woven around some really lovely illustrations. This is an adorable story, and we follow along as the kittens experience all the wonders of Christmas- getting into a little mischief along the way. Climbing the Christmas tree and delighting in all the wonderful holiday additions to the home, and holiday traditions that make Christmas such a special time of the year. It made for a very charming adventure story, with all the trademark touches I have come to expect form Terr Sabol’s stories. The illustrations, as expected, were delightful, interesting, colourful, and engaging. Another heartwarming story to add to the series. And even though this is the fifth book in the series, it could be read as a standalone, without feeling like you are missing anything that has happened in the other books. But having said that, each book contains its own adventure- they are all cute stories that the young, and young at heart, will enjoy reading. My grandson loved reading this book with me and seeing what Oscar and Emmy got up to on their Christmas adventure. Well worth the read. I thought this YA read was a good one to spend my afternoon reading. It was about Scoob and her brother, RC. They set off on a road trip and unfortunately RC isn’t being completely honest with Scoob. I was interested in finding out what truths he was hiding and I also loved the musical aspect of Scoobs side of the story too. I enjoyed this book more than I thought I was going to and I will definitely recommend for someone looking for a YA read that is a coming of Age novel that is a bit if a tear jerker. Happy Reading!

I loved this. It’s about a child who is lost and unhappy and how the simple hand of friendship can make the world of difference to how a child is feeling. It’s about kids showing bravery and strength, it tells us how children should behave and will help children talk about how they are feeling. It’s aimed at young children but the message portrayed in it can be for anyone of any age to take note of.
Dinopotamus Goes to School is a part of the Dinopotamus Series by Lois Wickstrom. This is such a cute story about Dinopotamus. He watches the other children daily and does what they do. As they go to school he goes to school too. We get to see how fun it is for Dinopotamus to learn and he handles doing things even though he is different. This is such a great way to show children how fun learning is. It also teaches a great lesson on how to adapt to various situations. The illustrations are wonderful. They remind you of something you would be able to learn how to do yourself. This is another fun book by Lois Wickstrom.

Dinopotamus just wants to be one of the kids and do what they do – play, go to school, learn things. Unfortunately, Dinopotamus is half T-Rex and half hippopotamus, which means they are much bigger than the children and has difficulty even fitting in through the school door! In this story, children learn about differences and the importance of finding solutions so everyone can join in, but in a cute, fun story. I would say that children aged 4-8 would enjoy this story.

Summer of Mud by Rebecca Bischoff is a great historical children book
Twelve-year-old musical prodigy Scoob hopes to follow in the footsteps of the legendary Louis Armstrong and become a jazz legend in the summer of 1976. She must, however, leave the streets first. Scoob believes her luck is going to change when she gets a lucrative gig; she gets to perform in front of a well-known band leader who has his own TV show. However, RC, Scoob’s elder brother, takes his younger sister along on an unwanted road trip. Scoob and RC are broke and unable to buy food, so they “borrow” gas along the route until they become stuck in the tiny Idaho town of Rexburg. Residents of the picturesque rural village are divided over the safety of a recently constructed dam, which is the subject of intense discussion.
Every page was exciting and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen. The story really brings us into their world. I couldn’t put the book down.

Another Wickstrom adventure you can’t help but help be drawn into. I mean, who doesn’t want a pet dragon?!? But, can she really be trained in one day?
Wickstrom’s book is well written with gorgeous illustrations that reminded my other children’s books from my childhood. My neice and nephew loved this book, and I would recommend it to others.

This is an interesting story. I liked the suspense and drama that follow these two along. This pulls on the ol’heart strings for a couple reasons. None that I will mention because of spoilers but believe me they are there. I really kept tuned into these two main character’s, which are kids. I felt sorry for them and was very suspicious of RC more than once. This is told from Scoob’s point of view and while she is a twelve year old she seems much older at times. In the end it shows the strength, endurance and love can help some prosper. I loved all the Dad sayings and thoughts that ran through Scoob’s head on repeat.
Overall this is a wonderful story that kept me turning pages so I could figure RC out. The ending is good and had me feeling complete with a little wonder. Thanks for letting me come along on your trip.

This was a cute little story about Dinopotamus who so desperately wanted to play and join in the fun of the children he saw. He joined all their fun including going to school. The story is about inclusion and the love of learning. It is an enjoyable story and I recommend it to anyone with children who love to read and explore new ideas.

We have enjoyed several of Oscar and Emmy’s adventures and this one has a little deeper meaning. I like that Terri has written a tale about animals and what it is to be prepared for them in an emergency situation. We are able to find many things in regard to preparation for humans but little for our furry friends. This fun tale is aimed at children aged 3 – 9 years and is told through the POV of kittens and children. It shares the importance of what is happening, being safe and prepared, having loving friends around you in a scary time and helping others. Adults could learn a thing or two as well. As always, the illustrations by Natalie Merheb are beautifully done and bring the story to life.

Summer of Mud by Rebecca Bischoff is an emotional whirlwind of a story. You will be hooked from the very start. Trying to figure out what’s going on. This book will definitely make you cry. But the level of human kindness, perseverance, and community that you will experience is incredibly heartwarming. This book is exceptional. 5 out of 5 stars.

I absolutely love the Oscar and Emmy series. Sabol does such a great job of teaching pet responsibility in such a way that children, and adults alike, forget they are learning. This time Oscar and Emmy have to weather a hurricane and all of the scary things that come with that. Abby and Charlie quickly learn what it takes to not only keep themselves safe during severe weather but also their pets. Wonderful book! I loved everything about this book. There is so much to learn and many weird and fun facts. I like that on each animal the author tells what a group of that particular animal is, like who knew a group of giraffes is called a tower? So fun! Kids are already interested in animals and this book is great for them to learn about some of their favorites. I really appreciate all the work that went into all the research and facts on each animal in this book.

What a wonderful way to teach kids about pets and preparing for disasters. I loved the pet disaster kit. It’s a terrific story that’s informative and very caring. I’ve enjoyed the Oscar and Emmy series. The pictures are bright and catch the child’s attention. This is a must for any cat families.

Can I Keep Her? is the 2nd book in the Kingdom of Mir series, where young Winnie earned her right to be an advisor to the King. Once again, she encounters a situation involving a special egg and finds a solution by applying her thoughtfulness and empathy. This lovely story has a great message that would appeal to 5-8 year olds. It is easy to read to children and have them follow along with the delightful illustrations.

Terri Sabol is an accomplished children’s book author, renowned for her heartwarming and entertaining stories featuring the real-life adventures of her two beloved rescue kittens, Oscar and Emmy. Born and raised in Texas, Terri developed a love of writing and storytelling at a young age, and always dreamed of one day becoming an author. Thinking that was out of reach, she focused on her other dream… teaching.
After graduating from college with a Masters degree in education, Terri worked as an early childhood teacher, and it was during this time that her passion for picture books truly blossomed. She was inspired by the joy and wonder that children experienced when reading and listening to stories, and it was this love for inspiring young minds that led her to create her own series of children’s books.
Terri’s debut book, “Oscar and Emmy Get Rescued”, was published in 2016, and told the heartwarming story of how she came to adopt her two kittens from the animal shelter where she volunteered. The book was an instant hit with children and parents alike, and it quickly became clear that there was a demand for more stories featuring Oscar and Emmy and to help educate children on the importance being involved in pet care.
Over the years, Terri has continued to write new books in the series, each one capturing the unique personalities and quirks of her two adventurous cats. Her books not only entertain children, but also promote the values of compassion and kindness towards animals, as well as the importance of rescue and adoption.
In addition to her Oscar and Emmy series, Terri has also written several other books showing off her writing skills, including “Green With Envy” and “Kneading a Winning Idea”.
When she’s not writing, Terri can be found spending time with her two rescue kitties, Oscar and Emmy. She also loves travelling and exploring new places and visiting old favorites, all the while taking inspiration for her next book. Through her stories, Terri hopes to inspire children to explore the world around them, to embrace their imaginations, to never give up on their goals, and to always be kind and compassionate towards others, especially animals.

This was a cute story! The Dinopotamus wants to be just like his friend, everything they do he tries to do. They slide down the slide so does he, the kids go to school, he follows. He finds out he has a few differences than his friends. Definitely recommend.
