Carrie’s Flight is a sweet fun filled children’s story. It is filled with beautiful illustrations that bring the story to life. In true Lois fashion it is not just a story it is also teaches you something and, in this case, it is birds and flight. Children of all ages will love this tale of a young girl Carrie who finds antique wings. Just thinking about all the dreams, they could imagine when reading about flying. I mean who hasn’t dreamt of flying. This magical tale showcases the love between a grandmother and her granddaughter. I read this to my grandsons who are five and three and yes, they now want their own set of wings! A great book to gift to others and especially this time of year.
Raining Fish and Frogs by Lois Wickstrom. This has become my favorite children’s author and I love all her books. This one is no different, it’s so good. Its the story of someone wanting fish for breakfast so they had to go fishing to try to catch some. Well there was no fish but while they were there a crazy storm came up. The water all got sucked up by the storm and it started raining. Once the rain began it was no ordinary rain, it was raining Fish and Frogs. All over the place. Then real rain came down and refilled the lake. I love these books because there is always a lesson involved and the pictures are always amazing. My nephews have loved every one of these books. They would make great presents. Its best for young elementary students!

Luna is a husky that loves to play and have fun. She loves the snow. She is a husky with a lot of energy and enjoys her life. The only issue is that she is unable to howl like her siblings. No matter how hard she tries, she is unsuccessful. Not when the moon is high in the sky, nor when her brothers and sisters are singing in unison. And no one knows why. Will Luna find a way to howl?
How could I pass this up? The title and art caught my attention. I love the illustrations, in addition to the cute and vivid colors used.
I loved the friendship she developed with a cat. And I loved the message and the heartwarming story.
There are even more interactive activities to do after reading the book. I personally loved hide and seek and the word search.

Oh how I enjoy these stories. They are perfect for the middle school age group. The middle-schoolers in the stories are such a fun group. There are few that can see the ghosts which makes it even more entertaining. I loved the mystery they had this time. The writing is perfect. The characters are well-developed for the audience written to. I recommend this series to the upper elementary to middle-school crowd.

Carrie found a pair of antique wings that used to be her Grandmothers. I found it fascinating how the story built around the movement of birds in flight. This story was about starlings. It was also about sharing memories with generational memories. Every book this author writes is always fascinating because there is a little tidbit in there about family. This is a science learning book about Starlings. I found out some new tidbits about Starlings in the information section included at the end of the story. A beautiful story that I recommend for any home with children.
Most kids think about flying at one point and this book feeds into that sweet fantasy. Who wouldn’t want to fly with the birds? The story of her grandmother’s wings and how they are passed down through the family is sweet and it is nice to see they have a special bond. I love the end has a history and facts about starlings to teach children.

I spent my school life in a girls’ boarding-school specialising in classical ballet and on leaving I danced professionally, touring Europe, for 4 years. After that, I ran my own ballet school in Athens, Greece for several years and simultaneously volunteered as a veterinary nurse, as my love of animals is the driving force in my life. I returned to England with my horse and my cat, and now live on a smallholding in Shropshire with my husband, various farm animals and a constant stream of pets.
I started writing while in Greece and completed a Creative Writing Course with the Writers’ Bureau. The same year, I won an annual competition in the Writing Magazine for an adult Fairy Story.
On my return to England, I wrote two children’s books, but my new life, caring for Highland Cattle, sheep, hens, and pets, coupled with extensive global travel, meant that writing for publication took a back seat. I continued my love of writing with a daily journal and amusing travel blogs of each trip.
I am now writing full time and THE GRACEFUL GHOST was my first self-published book. It was shortlisted for the UK Selfies 2021 Award and draws on my own experiences in ballet-boarding-school and early teenage life. Book two, Ballet School Boys, introduces boys to the school and book three, Ballet School Rumours continues their adventures with the resident ghosts, Grace and Rodney.
I am also working on a six-book series called TALLY AND THE ANGEL. Tally and her angel’s first adventure takes them to India. In the second book they go to Canada, in North Yukon and the third in Japan. I intend them to have adventures in Greece, Egypt, Peru – anywhere I have been, really. Each book has an extra story woven into it because every chapter starts with a paragraph telling the back story of one of the mystical elements of the story. Book One tells the story of Jophiel, the Angel. Book Two tells the story of Auric, the Spirit of Gold.

This is an adorable story about a husky. The text is written in poetic form but not too sing-song. Illustrations are vibrant and being out the husky personality. I read this book too my grandson and he loved it! We also have a husky malamute mix, and he doesn’t howl either. Small acts of kindness and love are the theme in this story. I love the friend and family Luna has on her life.

The fish weren’t biting at Lake Fish-Or-Cut-Bait, but then the wind kicked up and a waterspout formed and began sucking all the water out of the lake, fish, frogs, and all. The wind then moved into town, picking up everything in its path. When the wind lost its energy, it began raining fish and frogs everywhere. This was a cute children’s book!

Luna the Howling Husky Finds Her Howl by Samantha Shannon. This is the cutest story and the pictures are gorgeous. This story is such a good story about loving everyone and not judging anyone due to their looks, personality or ability to do things. Luna is a husky puppy and she loves being a puppy but she feels like she doesn’t fit in because she can’t howl yet. She tries and tries, practices daily and she just can’t get it. She feels like she is an outcast with her siblings. One day she finds a cat that accepts her just the way she is and she finally feels loved. While this friendship builds her confidence she begins to be able to learn to howl. Such a fun, lovely book that has beautiful pictures and lots of activities to do in the back. This would make a great gift for the beginning reader and for the younger ones as well.

This is a cute story about finding yourself, making friends and being loved. The message is clear as well as fun for the children. When Luna feels alone the one who befriends her is a shy kitten. The two begin a story worth reading. Can Luna and her new friend really become friends? Will Luna’s siblings stop teasing her, because she can’t howl? The author has a well written story the children will love. I know we did. We also enjoyed the extra puzzles at the end of the story. Making this a learning story as well as fun. Luna the Howling Huskey Finds Her Howl is a cute children’s book that my five-year-old and I loved reading. The colorful illustrations help to bring the story to life. This is about Luna she’s a husky but she can’t howl like the rest of her siblings can. Luna is saddened by the fact the other siblings get adopted and she doesn’t. So follow along with Luna and her special friend Nemo. There are several messages in this cute story. Being kind is important Being different is ok because that’s what makes us special. Just because one is different doesn’t mean they will be loved any differently. I highly recommend reading this book. My son and I look forward to reading more from this Author.

Instead of raining cats and dogs. This quirky version is raining frogs and fish LOL I liked it, it was funny. And a fun way to get your fish🤣 I really like the drawing style, it reminds me very much of the Sunday comics in the newspapers🥰 And as always I enjoy reading books by Lois Wickstrom. Especially because she always adds cool things at the end of her books. Like waterspouts I heard of them. I didn’t know that they can sometimes suck a lake dry, interesting. My son and I are big fans of the author, and enjoyed Raining Fish and Frogs. The illustrations were bright and colorful and some silly. A wind sucked up everything in the lake- water and animals included. It got so strong that it kept sucking things up and spitting them back out all across town. We assumed it was from the author’s imagination, and were shocked to read that its partly true. Upon finishing, we headed over to google and read some articles of this happening in real life. It is a fun story for elementary age kiddos. It could be tied into a science lesson on weather.

I’m a fairly new Headstart Assistant Teacher and we have been studying different cultures in children. I was thrilled to find this book and read it. The story helps teach affirmations, shows positivity, and teaches children that their culture does matter. I plan to read this story soon enough to the kiddos in our class. This was such a wonderful book. The beautiful bright cover grabbed my attention right away. I love animals and a husky is my dream dog. I loved the message in this story. Differences are not something to be sad about. Our differences make us special. Love is given to all. Luna and Nemo became great friends because they were different. Great great message to kids. I also enjoyed the bonus pages after the story to engage little ones with even more. I will certainly be looking for more books by this author for my grandson.

Science is fun. Nothing better than reading a child a book. This one touches on science. Could it really be raining? Are those raindrops or fish falling from the sky? Strong winds do have a way of sucking up everything in its path. This is one of those stories. Only it explains weather in such a cute, educational way. I love this story. I also enjoy reading this author’s books. It’s a fast flowing read and the pictures are fantastic. Everytime this author finishes a book I am excited to see what my grandchildren will learn.

This book was so cute and easy to read. Dylan saved his allowance and finally was able to get his detective kit. The day it comes his neighbor comes home to find her mail is missing. I really loveeeee this! Omg I got the digital copy, but you better believe I will be buying a hard copy. Especially because at the end of the book there are multiple pages that the author was fantastic enough to put in so you could write your own affirmations. I have read this a couple time already with my little one and it still grabs the attention and enthusiasm just like the first time 🥰🤣 I make it fun so it will help my little one remember. I love everything about this book! The illustrations are absolutely beautiful, and the affirmations are short for kids to be able to remember if they aren’t looking at it. My 8- and 11-year-old had a blast saying/singing these to each other and made it a fun game as well. Little ones already have so much going on with their emotions and finding themselves that affirmations can help build their self-esteem and mindfulness. I enjoyed these even as an adult! I highly recommend picking this up and sharing it with the younger (and not so young) people in your life.

Life is so hard anymore especially for kids who have had to deal with this crazy world we live in. This is a book with affirmations starting with the ABC’s. Its easy for kids to understand and it lifts them up. My 5 year old nephew lived thru COVID and started school shortly after so he has a lot of anxiety. This book has helped him immensely. The pictures are vibrant and so cool, he loves it so much. It also promotes other learning tools such as vocabulary. The discussions at the end of each day is amazing. I loved this book so much I bought the Affirmations for Women! Such a great book for your child’s library and would make a great gift.
