Killer Blonde by Allan Evans – Review by Jessie Hopkins

It didn’t even take the first page and I was hooked.

Between reading from Cade’s point of view and the killer’s, it was tense and quick paced. Very easy to read and enjoyable.
When Cade realized that these “car accidents” with nearly identical blonde women drivers was a pattern, he set off quickly looking for other patterns.
Discussing parts of the serial killers past and how he had gone from traditional animals-to-humans was interesting details to show how/why he believed he was going to keep getting away with the killings.
There were a few things that were obviously not going to happen in real life, like bringing in a minor civilian, who is related to the victims, into a high profile case.

Overall, I really enjoyed the book & can’t wait to read the next!

Another great book from Allan Evans! The cat and mouse game between the killer and our hero, Cade, is very well written. I would really like to dive deeper into Cade’s character but the story itself was a quick and easy read. I was never really left wondering what was going to happen next, but I thoroughly enjoyed the boom and am looking forward to reading the next installment. As always, I recommend reading this or any other story from Allan Evans.

Killer Blonde is a multiple POV story, told from Detective Cade Dawkins’ and a psychopathic serial killer’s POV. I liked this alot as it gave me both perspectives and tiny details that may have been missed from the other person’s view. This is a fast paced story and has alot of things to unravel. Cade Dawkins is your typical story-book detective. Seasoned and professional, and known to close impossible cases. When a series of car accidents turn out to be a little too suspicious, it becomes apparent there is a serial killer on the loose. And, not only is there a killer on the loose…he has a specific type – gorgeous blonde women. Now Detective Dawkins needs to catch this guy before he finds a new target, and the ongoing game of cat and mouse becomes more and more intense. I think the only thing I did not thoroughly enjoy about the book was finding out the identity of the killer “too soon” and would have enjoyed that little detail to be drawn out a bit longer. Overall it was a great book and well written.

This is an entertaining crime novel following the pursuit of an interesting serial killer by Cade.
I thought it was different the way the story was told through multiple points of view, including the killer. This was an element I wasn’t sure of at first but the thrill of when and how they’d be caught was engaging. There were moments of frustration when you want to knock some sense into some characters and some elements did break the realism of the story for me procedurally, however when looking at it as a purely fictional case, this was still an enjoyable case to be ‘involved’ in.
The writing style was simple and easy to follow. The pacing felt right for the story, there wasn’t any rushing to get to the end as can sometimes be seen in mystery thrillers. I very much liked the author’s style of writing.
I did enjoy the characters however, I felt that there could have been a little more complexity to them, some back story which shaped them and developed over time. I may a little bias in this as I really enjoy character development in my reading.
Overall, this was an entertaining read, it wasn’t as dark as I was initially expecting so it was an easy pleasant read.

This is book 1 of the series and my first time reading anything from this author. I was not disappointed at all! Even though this book jumps between different cities here and there to piece together information, it is very easy to follow and keeps you wanting more. I didn’t want to put it down! I wanted to know if Cade would catch the Blonde Killer or would the killer get to him first???

An enjoyable and entertaining crime thriller which has a gripping storyline and an interesting main character in celebrated investigator Cade Dawkins. When Dawkins is given a difficult case to solve, he soon discovers that a serial killer is on the loose and that he has a type. Virtually identical blonde women are being murdered in Minnesota, causing the public to panic and resulting in political pressure to catch the killer. Dawkins learns that the serial killer has his own plan, one that is part of a larger more dangerous agenda. It soon becomes a cat and mouse game between the killer and the investigator but Dawkins realises that he might be the mouse. The descriptive narrative brought both the setting and the characters to life making me feel immersed in the story. The dual POV narrative from both the killer and Dawkins worked well and made me feel engaged with both of them. The suspense that was building chapter by chapter did disappear slightly for me when about half way through we learn the identity of the killer. However, the cat and mouse game continued and the main mystery was still to be solved. Overall this was a fast paced and exciting read.

I loved the thrill of cat and mouse during this read! Had my full attention and I needed answers. Every time I tried putting the book down I was picking it right back up, because I needed to know how it ends. Serial killers, thrill of the chase, dual POV’s…I loved it all. And you do not want to be a blonde on this book, I promise you that. If you want a great crime/psychological thriller, this book is for you.

The writing is very well done and the story is engaging from the first word. There are moments of levity scattered throughout but mostly, a hold onto your seat kinda thriller that is bound to keep the reader guessing until the end!

What’s not to love when reading a crime thriller where a serial killer is involved? Killer Blonde doesn’t disappoint. Dawkins hours on his own dark path as he hunts down a serial killer who kills blondes on the highway. I haven’t read this genre of book where the killer takes to the highway. It’s interesting to read from the killer’s mind. The novel made me think twice about driving alone at night and looking in the back seat before I get in.

Allan Evans’ book Killer Blonde was a great psychological thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat, scared to see what would happen next as a killer is on the prowl for blondes. The characters were perfectly developed, with no detail too small to be left out. It was as if I was right there watching the dead bodies as they were found by the investigators. This book had so many unexpected twists and turns, the killer was ingenious in the fact that they knew exactly what they were doing every step of the way, always two steps ahead of the detectives. I am a huge fan of psychological thriller novels, the chase of trying to find the killer before anyone else can be killed makes the story keep you reading right up to the very last page. I couldn’t put this book down; I was so scared that the detective would not be able to solve the murders before they got targeted themselves! If you love a good mystery thriller you will want to add this book to your next to read list.

Killer suspense with an intriguing story that keeps you searching for the answers. This is the first book I have read by the interesting Allan Evans. Spooky month always needs a good mystery or two and this book put the spooks into my daily routine for the next several weeks. Dual perspectives of Cade Dawkins and the killer keep you entranced in the mystery of Killer Blonde from start to finish.
Cade Dawkins is a seasoned detective with several big wins under his belt, but nothing could have prepared him for his biggest case so far. Several beautiful blondes are seemingly killed in “car accidents” across an area but the more he investigates the victims the more questions he has. These are not accidents but staged moments to throw him off the scent of a serial killer in the area. With each new discovery he feels the hope of finally stopping the killer but then something new is discovered that keeps him looking for the connection to stop him. The killer meticulously plans every detail, making sure that nothing is given away and the nothing is what it seems. The depth and reasoning behind their actions keep you on edge as you see the game of cat and mouse play out.
Will Cade find the killer in time? How many women will fall victim before the killer is stopped? Can Cade keep his friends safe? The plot and depth of the characters kept me hooked from start to finish. Making me really think about how aware I am of my surroundings as a single female when traveling at night. The author’s ability to have such developed and well-defined polar opposites keep the reader interested in seeing how each with evolve over the course of the story and trying to figure out how it will come to an end. Truly one of my favorite authors of the month and I can’t wait to start book two in the series, Killer Smile, and see what the detective will face next.

This was just brilliant ! My nails are chewed to the quick 🤫🫣my blood pressure has risen , I’ve hit out in a rash and I’m so grateful for my pink hair 🤣😉😜

If you’re blonde don’t read this because your next trip will be to the salon and not the grocery store 😱😉

This killer is smart which makes him even more dangerous and he seems to know how to leave no trace but Cade is hot on his heels and this feeds our killers murder lust even more , he’s loving the challenge but the girls are his gateway to the actual prize …. Cade 😱

Seeing the victims through the eyes of the killer had me on edge and I could smell their fear I kid you not ! From the victim’s perspective I could feel their fear , Evans writing style is superb !

While I was reading I’d share bits of it with anyone who’d listen and it piqued their interest because I got asked for updates and progress #truestory#

Every killer has a certain criteria but they also make a mistake , eventually and watching Cade pit the puzzle pieces together was brilliant and I can’t wait to devour more of this mastermind and his work ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Dawkins is a cop who toes the line and does things his own way. When he is called in on a case that shows a predator going after stunning blondes, he has some choices to make. Will he be able to catch the killer before it puts those he loves at risk? The fear leads him down a path that has some dark opportunities. Cade isn’t considered lucky for having this case tossed in his lap, but his boss needs a win at best, and a scapegoat at worst.

Gritty, suspenseful, intriguing. A quick read that kept me interested until the end. I enjoyed reading the frame of mind behind the killer.

I love a good murder mystery / thriller and this one did not disappoint. It featured a killer with a devious mind – who planned out and executed those plans in incredibly interesting ways. I liked how this story took the idea of the killer being part of a larger agenda. Cade Dawkens was a well written, well developed investigator and the case contained many twists and turns. Several of which that surprised me. This was truly a fantastically written thriller in which everything seemed to be thought of. I thought that both the killer and the investigator were well developed and did not come across as contrived. I thought that the plot moved at a great pace and that the various twists came a at great times and definitely kept me wanting to read. I recommend reading this one and I will be looking to read more by Allan Evans in the future!

I normally don’t read a lot of murder-mystery, but this author did such a fantastic job! I was sucked in right from the get go! The detail in this book had me on the edge of my seat! I was very impressed1 with the research that the author did on the book as well, and I’m looking forward to the second book! The way all of the characters, main or side characters included, were written so well and I have nothing but extreme respect for the author that wrote it. This was a very good cat and mouse crime thriller that felt like this could happen in real life. Murder, mystery, mayhem, danger, twists and turns and some intense moments….the thrill of the kill by this mystery serial killer and the detective whom is out to track them down…..

Someone is out to and has their eyes on tall, beautiful blonde women and to make a statement and end their life. Planning, stalking and the methods…one by one, women are dying. Detective Cade Dawkins is highly known and out to put an end to this killer. Will Detective Cade find this serial killer before more it is to late or will the killer outwit the law.

Great read and highly recommended….looking forward to more from this author!

From right off, the cover builds suspense and intrigue- whom is the attractive woman in the red dress, and why is she standing on a parapet off a building?

First impression of the book was this was one I was going to stick with, because it was well written and fast-paced, and in a style that I couldn’t wait to find out what happened next. For characterizations, I loved how the governor gives Investigator Cade Dawkins the hardest time, only in order to build his own importance and build confidence in his constituents for the next election. I felt for the citizens of Minnesota as Cade works to find the killer.

I enjoyed the soccer-loving authors’ reference to the game, although dislike his taste in the English Premier League and his key players, but thought he wrote about the passes/plays in soccer quite effectively. For whatever reason, I laughed over the line “The killer goosed the gas pedal,” I don’t know if that is regional slang or not!

I can’t wait to read book #2 of this series, and I would recommend this one to anyone that enjoys fast-pasted, thriller-style mysteries.

If you enjoy crime shows, this book is for you. Reading this book was synonymous with watching a crime TV show. I was not necessarily surprised by any of the actions of the plot/characters. Both were very well developed, just predictable. It also stereotypes both serial killers and detectives/police officers.

Overall I definitely enjoyed the book. The author is a fantastic writer and reels you in from the first sentence. Even though it was predictable, I cannot wait to dive into the next book in this series to find out what comes next for this detective!

From the beginning Cade Dawkins, is suspicious that the suspected one car crash is not just as it appears, this one car was helped off the road, and then it was brought to his attention that there were other such crashes, and so it begins. The killer has a type, blondes, as in all good mystery stories, finding the type of victim helps find the killer. This story has both sides, one from Cades and one from the killers. In the end the good guys win. That is my favorite part of all mysteries. You will not be disappointed with this book!

I picked an awesome story for my first book by Allan Evans. I am a crime/psychological thriller junkie. I was not disappointed at all. This plotline kept me at the edge of my seat. It was a thrill ride just like a roller coaster. Just when you thought what was going to happen, BAM it went in an opposite direction. The characters are Remembrall, complex, fully developed. When you hear that a serial killer has a type, I start to worry if someone I knew fits that description. Cade has been assigned this killer’s case. It is a hot case that even has the governor’s attention. It started to become a cat and mouse chase. Is this a case that will do Cade in or will he become a decorated officer? I highly recommend this book but I will caution you. You may want to read this book when you know someone is home and either daylight or lights are turned on.

Killer Blonde is one of the best books I have read recently. Once you get into the story, you will be on the edge of your seat and not be able to put the book down! This was the first book I have ever read by Allan Evans, and he will definitely be on my must-read authors list. Killer Blonde is a suspense-filled cat and mouse game worthy of James Patterson. At the beginning of the book, you will immediately be drawn into the killer’s web of horror. Allan Evans successfully pulls humor into the story with character jokes and levity. I enjoyed that even the minor characters are likeable and fun to read about. The main character, Cade Dawkins, is lovable and a man you would want to protect you. You will identify with Cade’s honor and either want to be him or be married to him. This is your next must-read story!

What a great Psychological thriller. Killer Blonde by Allan Evans is just that kind of a book. Quite a little twist on the victims in this one. The story moves along fluidly and is an easy read. It was an enjoyable read. I especially like how Detective Cade Dawkins thinks and his constant reflection about how he enjoyed his work and the people he worked with. For such a dark subject it is balanced by the Detective’s positive attitude. This is a new author for me, but he will go on my list of read again writers. A good clean read.

Killer Blonde by Allan Evans was a great read! This book had all the elements of a well written novel. It had thrills, suspense, a bit of mystery, some romance and a touch of dark humor that made me laugh throughout the novel. There wasn’t really anything that stuck out to me as different from other crime novels, except the state trooper element. That was interesting. I loved the cover, it was what originally made me decide to read this novel. And the synopsis finished the decision for me. This was a very interesting read that grabbed me and held my attention.
