Grave Digger AcademyGrave Digger Academy by C.A. King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Grave Digger Academy is a super fun and light read that I thoroughly enjoyed. It is short at under 200 pages, but captivated me from start to finish. I was super happy to discover that it is the first of a series! I look forward to reading the rest of the novels. Harry Potter fans such as myself will enjoy getting lost in this magical academia world as well.

The Arsonist’s Handbook: A Gripping Psychological Thriller by L.A. Detwiler – Review by Kristy Nelson

The Arsonist's Handbook: A Gripping Psychological ThrillerThe Arsonist’s Handbook: A Gripping Psychological Thriller by L.A. Detwiler
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Definitely not for the faint of heart. This book is dark from the get go and stays that way. I mostly read psychological thrillers, but I’ve never read a novel with a focus on arson. It was an interesting change of pace for me. Not a lighthearted, but definitely a worthwhile one that sticks with you even after the story is over.

Shield and Shade (Ascended Guardians Book 1) by Misty Hayes- Review by Kristy Nelson

Shield & ShadeShield & Shade by Misty Hayes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

From what I understand, this is connected to the Blood Dagger trilogy, which I haven’t read. However, after finishing this book and loving it as much as I did, I plan to read all of her work! It was fast paced and easy to get sucked into the book. The characters had good development and felt very real. I always love when a book is told from different viewpoints; and Hayes accomplished it seamlessly. A very suspenseful and exciting read. I can’t wait for the others!

Dragons by Ty Drago – Review by Kristy Nelson

DragonsDragons by Ty Drago
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a super fun YA sci-fi action adventure read. When I say this novel is action packed, I mean it! The adventure draws you in right away and unfolds at a quick pace making this a book you can’t put down. While there is a ton happening, nothing feels rushed through or glossed over. I thoroughly enjoyed not knowing how the adventure was going to end.

House in the Woods by Jessica Aiken-Hall – Review by Kristy Nelson

House in the WoodsHouse in the Woods by Jessica Aiken-Hall
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I read a lot of psychological thrillers, so a good chunk of the time I have an idea of what the bug twist will be or how a novel will end. That was absolutely not the case with this book. The author did a fantastic job of building an intricate plot where all the peices eventually came together and nothing was overlooked. This was my first book by this author, and I would definitely read more from her!

Jeremy Full of Grace by Greta Cribbs- Review by Kristy Nelson

Jeremy Full of GraceJeremy Full of Grace by Greta Cribbs
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Cribbs offers a unique twist on the story of the virginal birth. Honestly, I am not religious at all, but I was still very intrigued by the storyline. I definitely was not disappointed! I thoroughly enjoyed the story, even if some of the religious nuance was lost on me. I particularly recommend this book if you like the dystopian genre. It was nice to have a dystopian read done a bit differently than anything else I have read.

The Cross of Ciaran by Andrea Matthews- Review by Kristy Nelson

The Cross of CiaranThe Cross of Ciaran by Andrea Matthews
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a book of many genres; history, archaeology, romance, fantasy, suspense, the list goes on! I’m a sucker for a book with multiple timelines, and this one executed it perfectly. The story of the past brings depth to the current story being told. Andrea Matthews has a beautiful writing style. No detail is overlooked in the world she creates, and all of the characters are fully and genuinely developed. I didn’t know when I began reading that this was just the first book. I was thrilled when I learned that there is more to come. I plan to read the second one as soon as it is out so I can continue the story.

The Way to Storey by L.B. Anne- Review by Kristy Nelson

The Way to StoreyThe Way to Storey by L.B. Anne
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is such a charming story. I can’t think of any other way to describe it! L.B. Anne creates a fun adventure suitable for middle school readers, but it can also be enjoyed by those much older. I sincerely hope that there are follow up books. I would love for the story and the magical world to be expanded on. This would also make an excellent Disney style movie or show!

Chameleon by Zoe Kalo -Review by Kristy Nelson

ChameleonChameleon by Zoe Kalo
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Chameleon has all the components of a gripping novel: suspense, paranormal activity, and a narrator you aren’t sure if you can trust or not. It was a fun and easy read that I read within a day. I wish that some events had been elaborated on to build more suspense. A few things felt a bit rushed over. The ending left me feeling like I wanted a more detailed explanation, but the slight cliff hanger was probably intentional! Overall, it was an interesting YA paranormal story that made for a good light read.

Our Wicked Lies by Glede Browne Kabongo-Review by Kristy Nelson

Our Wicked LiesOur Wicked Lies by Glede Browne Kabongo
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Our Wicked Lies is one of the best domestic thrillers I have read to date. It grips you from the first page and does not let you go. It is one of the first books in a long time that when I wasn’t reading it, I was thinking about it. Just when you think the big twist has been revealed, even more happens to keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end. This novel is very well written! While there were many twists, the story still flowed nicely and nothing was forced or just thrown in for shock factor. Definitely recommend reading this if you love a great domestic thriller!
