Sleeping Love by Natalina Reis – Review by Bobbi Wagner

Sleeping LoveSleeping Love by Natalina Reis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is an author that I have enjoyed reading from the first book that I picked up. One of the things I enjoy most about this author is her writing skills that bring her characters to life. They are engaging and hard to put down stories. This book is no different. This is a well written story that is full of action, romance and fantasy. This is a friends to lovers story that you don’t want to miss. The characters are strong, relatable, and supportive of each other which made the story easy to read. They add so much to the story and the entertaining value. They have great growth as well as chemistry throughout the story. This is a fast paced story that I read in one sitting. I really enjoyed reading this fantasy story. I highly recommend this book and this author.

Natalina Reis is an international bestseller who wrote her first romance at the age of thirteen. Since then she has published many romances that defy the boundaries of her genre. She enjoys writing all kinds of rebels and outcasts into her stories and she always roots for the underdog.

Natalina doesn’t believe you can have too many books or too much coffee. Art and dance make her happy and she is pretty sure she could survive on lobster and bananas alone. When she is not writing or stressing over lesson plans, she shares her life with her husband and two adult sons.

The Man in Black by L.R. Liverpool – Review by Brandy Vaughn

The Man In BlackThe Man In Black by L.R. Liverpool
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

My emotions were riding a roller coaster in this novel. Simon is a good guy at heart, but his obsession with becoming a notorious outlaw gang member soon becomes something he dreads once he’s in Red’s gang. By the time he figures out it’s not what he wants, the bonds of friendships can’t be broken. Simon romanticizes what being in the gang is supposed to be like and things go sideways regularly. The daily danger and close quarters fuels a lot of emotions including feelings for one of his fellow outlaws. A relationship with another man is as dangerous as being an outlaw.

There is someone murdering gang members and leaving messages with the bodies. There were times I thought I knew who was killing the members of Red’s gang. The ending was surprising as to who the killer was! The Man In Black is an LGBT thriller and mystery that contains some violence, occasional foul language, and adult sexual situations.

All roads lead to war.

Bookish, nonbinary Ruarnon thought their biggest challenge was proving themself a worthy heir to Tarlah’s perfect King. But when assassins strike, and their parents are abducted, Ruarnon must take on the burden of the throne in the face of unreliable allies and a brutal, expansionist neighbour. To end a war that has overshadowed their kingdom’s entire history, Ruarnon will need more than a sharp mind and superior tactics, they’ll need a bargaining chip.

Trapped in Ruarnon’s world, feisty Linh is desperate to return to Australia and is not above using the locals’ belief she’s a figure straight out of their myths to do it. But to take her best shot at getting home, she’ll have to sail to Ruarnon’s court with reinforcements while avoiding a growing plague of monsters.

If Linh succeeds, she’ll possess knowledge crucial to the continent’s defence, knowledge that could help Ruarnon secure lasting peace. Ruarnon knows the second element crucial to peace is working with the enemy, so to pursue their heart’s desire, they devise a plan which risks betrayal, all Tarlah and their own murder.

Apocalypse NOPE!! (Queerpocalypse) by Deidre Huesmann – Review by Erica Shoebridge

Apocalypse NOPE!!Apocalypse NOPE!! by Deidre Huesmann
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was a wonderful read – witty, unexpected, light-hearted, and engrossing. The four horsepeople of the Apocalypse are hilarious and uniquely drawn. I found myself pausing in my reading every so often to update my family on something funny that War said, or how Famine was personified in a teenage girl. Ivy-Jean herself is an odd duck, but awkward and loving and smart. I wanted to scoop her up in a hug and assure her that she is exactly as weird and wonderful as she is supposed to be. I read this straight through in one sitting and was a bit sad when it was over. Great premise, awesome characters, and the plot was timed perfectly. A great fun read!

Cursoi are a military order gifted with supernatural skills, devoted to protect the life of the president of the United Terrestrial Democracy. Naira resents them almost as much as she despises newly elected president Crash, an arrogant, hateful bigot. When Naira discovers herself Cursoi, she turns her dismay into a new resolution: infiltrate the Cursoi and undermine the president, but is Crash the real issue?

Things complicate since Naira falls for fellow soldier Drama, whose skill is empathy. Before Drama can uncover Naira’s ploy and deliver her to Lethal, the entitled Cursoi whose skill is crushing people’s organs, the unthinkable happens. Naira and Lethal “link” now sharing each other’s consciousness. Naira’s secrets are uncovered…but so are Lethal’s. The two archenemies will have to find some common ground if they want to save their own lives…and the president’s.

Funny, sexy, and fast-paced, this addictive novel reminds us that we cannot fight anger with anger. It’s time to sit back and take a cathartic trip to the United Terrestrial Democracy

Braeden’s never had to question anything before. He’s always been popular, always had everything handed to him, and always been straight.

Then he met Jeffrey Young. Quiet, studious, analytical … a guy.

Falling for Jeff ultimately resulted in Braeden’s expulsion. Now he’s questioning everything. Like if he can handle his pill-abusing mother and ruthlessly enabling father much longer. If he’s protecting his siblings out of selfless motivations. If he belongs with Jeff, now his boyfriend. Jeff’s less-than-straight friends are skeptical of his sexuality as well, which isn’t assuaging any of Braeden’s fears.

As his connection to Jeff deepens quicker than expected, Braeden has to face the question he’s been avoiding for weeks: what is he supposed to do with a guy?

With Jeff Young’s fantastic grades, he should be a great tutor. But he’s terrible with human interaction. “You’re an asshole,” is not a unique phrase to him. Jeff’s all right with that. His past proves most people are assholes.

Even with his reputation, he takes it too far when he uses a textbook to save the track star, Braeden, from a goose attack. Braeden is everything Jeff is not. Tall. Charming. Has 20/20 vision. And would never, ever wipe his mouth after a girl kisses him.

Braeden insists on getting to know Jeff. Jeff vacillates between wanting to know him and wanting to punch him in the mouth. Then he discovers the darkness rippling beneath Braeden’s deceptively easy-going persona. As Braeden confides his secrets, Jeff does the one thing that’s socially suicidal:

He falls in love with the very popular, very straight Braeden Britely.
