I have to say I love what the author Liza Snow did in this book. Wonderful characters and I love the attention to them. Can that really be any more spicy in this book? I love Cassandra and Chandler the chemicals are real for these two but can that keep the fire burning? When I read it I was like OMG… Teacher and student relationship too hot.

WHAT A STORY!! This one I just knew, maybe it was the name, or maybe it was the cover. But i just KNEW.It took off like a rocket, and I was THERE FOR IT! Cassandra and Chandler have this air about them, that they just seem to meld together, like the silks they wrap themselves in. Its such a world to get lost in. I couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait to read the next one. I will for sure be adding Liza Snow to my list of authors to follow.

Chandler Moreau is a teacher at the prestigious Rêveur Academy in Acrefort New York, he is a professional silk aerialist who is renowned for his skills and complicated routines and has performed in many places in front of the public, on many occasions. Cassandra Blackstone is a young woman with a lot of potential who has dreamed about performing with her idol for many years and now she is shocked that sh is auditioningin front of him, so that she can be accepted in to her chosen academy and with it take the first step to fulfilling her dreams and when she finds out that she has succeeded and with a full scholarship, she is full of hope.

This dream, however is partially dashed on her first day when she again is shocked to come face to face with him in her class, the morning hasn’t gone to plan and his attitude just increases the frustration she is already feeling, but she remains as professional as she can until the class ends and she decides to give him a piece of her mind. Chandler is both shocked and intrigued by her outburst and cannot decide how to react, but he still warns her that the attitude she has and her first impressions aren’t satisfactory and that it shouldn’t happen again, although annoyed, Cassandra agrees and leaves the classroom.

One evening, both Chandler and Cassandra’s private lives mix in an unexpected and intimate way, but this is just the beginning and although it puts a strain on their student, teacher relationship, they try to push past it and remain on the right side of the line, but when their pasts catch up to them and the dark demons within them come to the fore, they find out that they are more intricately linked than they first thought, but will they be able to fight for the future, or will the past bring them back into a darkness they can’t escape from?

This is a forbidden romance with a suspenseful streak and plenty of action as two people fight for their future while battling the past and present at the same time in this story you will not want to put down.

Obedience centers around Cassandra, who has decided since she was young that she wants to be a silk aerialist, and attend circus college, due to seeing a performance when she was a child of a famous circus aerialist. Our other main character is that aerialist Cassandra saw when she was a child. Chandler definitely isn’t all that she expected as she discovers his “night life” in a club while attending school but it only causes her attraction to run deeper. I enjoyed their journey in finding their way to each other, the background story with Cassandra trying to prosecute her uncle, and would definitely look forward to reading more from this author. Well done!

This story took me by surprise, and left me wanting so much more! I cannot wait to see where this story goes… This first book was so emotional. It truly had it all – romance and suspense and intimacy and secrets and darkness all rolled into one. This was a very dynamic story, and I am glad I found Liza Snow. This book pushed me far beyond my comfort zone. Despite that, I decided to give it a chance and delve into its pages. The story it presented was undeniably captivating, but it often got tangled up in excessive details of Shibari and sexual encounters. It was difficult to reconcile the characters’ deep intimacy with their underlying secrets, which constantly undermined the trust they claimed to have. However, amidst these complexities, the author’s vivid descriptions of the aerial routines were simply breathtaking, transporting me to a world where I could almost witness them firsthand.

I highly recommend Obedience by Liza Snow! This book is X rated and only for adults. I absolutely loved all the characters and dynamics of the story. Even though the focus is the forbidden romance blossoming between Cassandra and Chandler the twists and turns and plot of the story were extremely refreshing. The main storyline is about Cassandra following her dream of being a silk aerialist for Cirque du Lys. She finally gets to train under her idol and mentor, Chandler. Chandler is her professor and mentor and should not blur the boundary between them. The book switches the viewpoint between Cassandra and Chandler perfectly. The passionate, steamy scenes in the book feel natural and I loved the BDSM aspects such as bondage. Get ready for an entertaining show at the circus!

I was very impressed with this book. I was actually very intrigued with the whole thing. It was so well written that reading about the circus and the training you really feel like you’re sitting there watching it unfold before your eyes. It was so detailed that I almost forgot I was reading it. the love and chemistry that happens between the two main characters Cassandra and chandler made me feel like I was involved in something that I wasn’t supposed to know about. It kept me wanting to read more, I really couldn’t put it down. I felt like I couldn’t read it fast enough to find out what was going to happen next. I usually don’t grab romance reads but this book had me on an emotional journey, it was a little slow but the action, love scenes were well worth it.

I am so thankful this is the first book in a series because whoa… I love how Cassandra and Chandler’s chemistry simmers as the story unfolds. The setting is unique as they are circus performers, and it made their characters compelling and endearing, and I love them together. This story twists and turns like a good mystery should and kept me in suspense and at the edge of my seat the entire time! It was hard to put this book down and not read it in one, long sitting. It’s steamy romance, vibrant storytelling, and characters I couldn’t get enough of. I tend to shy away from a lot of steamy romances, but this one has my full recommendation. I can’t wait to get my hands on book two!

Who doesn’t love a forbidden, age-gap romance?! This is the story of Cassandra (the student) and Chandler (the teacher) and how their lives, present and past, intertwine as she becomes his protégé. I do love how quickly this book hooked me and Snow’s writing is excellent. I absolutely love the dual perspectives…it’s one of my favorite things being able to get both main characters’ POVs. I think Snow handled the spice very nicely in this book and though it was a slow-burn, I liked the pacing. There were a few times where some transitions were abrupt and that kind of jarred me; however, I enjoyed the book. This did end on a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to get my hands on the 2nd book.

This was a really good book! The circus aspect was very different from what I expected and nothing I’ve honestly ever read before. It was very easy for me to get immersed in this story. My one complaint is that the timelines changed pretty abruptly, so I kept losing my focus during chapters changes. There is a lot of mystery and untold things that take a while to get to the bottom of, and I’m ready to see what happens in book two for sure! This story does end on a cliffhanger, for anyone who doesn’t like that happening.

Hooooooolllllllllllllllllllyyyyy Cow. Chandler could tie me up anytime. Oh, that voice. I am in for this series, be it two or twelve books.

Can we talk about, just for one second, how this book ended? I mean, all the unanswered questions. There is so much I need to know. So much I want to know. Will she forgive him for leaving her in the silks that way? How linked are their families? How much danger are they in? Why did they go after the ex-wife? So many questions!!!

The way this author describes the way things feel, smell, taste, sound, or look is absolutely impressive. This book was a feast for the senses. When does the 2nd one come out? Tomorrow? Yesterday?

Obedience: A Dark Student Teacher Romantic Suspense (Ties That Bind Book 1)

Chandler and Cassandra have a very interesting and complicated relationship. They are teacher/student and both aerialists. But there is intense attraction and a little bit of self loathing and a lot of hot and cold feelings from Chandler. That frustrated me some especially since neither one of them is a young adult in their late teens or early twenties.

I found myself getting very caught up in the second shibari scene and also never thought about how erotic aerial artistry could be until now.

Cassandra has an amazing friend in Alex, everyone needs an Alex in their life. She also finds Henry and Dana along the way.

Chandler is a mess, he has too many demons he is dealing with and gets stuck in his head way too often, though I understand how easy that can be at times.

As frustrated as I would get at times I did enjoy the book and definitely found myself getting lost in the pages. The description of the ropes work was enthralling and I definitely want more.

Looking forward to reading the next book by Ms. Snow and hopefully get a happy ending.

Given the chance to work with an idol I think we would all jump to do that. Cassandra has dreamed of working with Chandler since the day before her 13th birthday. A few months shy of turning 26 she is at Dreamers and doing just that. But will her ideas of him change when she learns all the sides of him?

Cassandra is a aerial silk student and her dream is to perform. Chandler is not only the best but he is also a professor at the school and her mentor. But he has another side of him, another side of performing one that is more intimate than the silks. Chandler is trying his hardest to keep so much of his life secret. Cassandra is a breathe of fresh air and making him cross all sorts of lines and boundaries.

Cassandra is running from her own secrets while Chandler is hiding his own. Both fighting demons but also fighting the feelings they have for one another. There is no denying the chemistry is there for both of them, despite the student/teacher and age difference. This is just book 1 and I absolutely can’t wait to get my hands on book 2.

I thoroughly enjoyed Obedience. I knew there’d be tension. I knew there’d be control. I even knew it would be forbidden fruit. What I didn’t know was that it was going to turn out the way it did.
The author wrote a beautifully painful story of struggle, control, tension. Sometimes there’s things in the world we can’t have, well at least that’s what we tell ourselves. And that’s exactly what Chandler is doing. He can try and justify it all he wants. Cassandra is my student, I’m too old for her, it could jeopardize my job. It’s all crap there’s a bigger issue at play. The question being:
Will that bigger issue be enough to keep from succumbing to his desires? And if not, can he keep her safe?
Cassandra idolized Chandler. He’s the reason she chose her career path. However the man runs so hot and cold, she can’t keep up. She wants him, but does he want her?
The character growth was written wonderfully, the question will always remain: Will they give into what they truly want?
This book caught me by surprise, I didn’t expect it to play out the way it did. But it worked and I can say I was satisfied to an extent. I’m looking forward to reading book 2. Now it’s time to look for other books by this offer, while you pick up/download/and start reading this book.

Obedience (Ties That Bind Book 1) by Liza Snow – Review by Shea Gilkerson 6/1/23

ObedienceObedience by Liza Snow
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I didn’t really know what to expect out of this book, considering I have nearly zero knowledge of aerialists, silks, tricks, circus performers, etc. However, I know I didn’t expect two separately voiced POV scenarios that clearly gave a view of each different personality and the people in their lives, beautiful imagery, such great story and relationship building with such a wonderfully fleshed out array of characters…I really loved it!

Chandler is a world class silks aerialist in his family’s circus, as well as helps teach and mentor at the college they run to train the best of the best. The first half of the book is really how he’s losing it as his life falls apart. He just finalized his divorce after 20 years with his wife – who almost immediately married his best friend. Aging has him struggling to feel like he’s still “got it”, he feels numb, underwhelmed, or angry all the time, has been drinking too much, is nursing a repetitive knee injury, is struggling to focus and keep his partner safe in their silks act, and now his father has roped him into both sitting in for an auditioning process he doesn’t want to be a part of, and 6 months later, being forced to take over his ex wife’s classes suddenly at the college. He is constantly on edge and upon meeting Cassandra, becomes consumed with her. He drives himself mad trying to avoid her and not being able to stand being away from her. Will she turn out to be his saving grace? The one who learns all his secrets and still is by his side?

Cassandra is the daughter of performers herself, and upon seeing Chandler in one of his acts when she was a child, she immediately knew she wanted to do what he did. It consumed her life, practicing, reading up on his family and their circus, learning his routines, taking steps forward to end up exactly where she wanted to be – performing with Chandler in the silks under the big top. After a decade of struggling, she finally made it through college and to the audition process for Dreams Academy. Luckily, it happened to be the set of auditions that Chandler was forced to attend, and she wowed him with her abilities. Once she was accepted to the Academy, she was also hired as a TA and ended up being the TA to Chandler. She is constantly enamored with him, drawn to him, inspired by his talents while being either irritated with his surliness or very confused after feeling she was getting closer to him. Chandler obviously has some secrets, but she has her own and intent on protecting them. Will she be able to protect her heart from Chandler?

Obedience is a dark romantic suspense unlike anything I have read before, and I mean that in the most positive way!

I have to be honest and disclose that this book is not the usual romance that I read, but I was intrigued when I read the synopsis. It didn’t disappoint; I was drawn into the book from the very first pages. Cassandra has admired Chandler for many, many years, and she finally gets her chance to be his student. She knew it would be an extraordinary opportunity, but what she didn’t expect was the attraction and pull she felt towards him.

Chandler is tempted by Cassandra, but he knows she is his student, and he must keep those boundaries intact. As time passes, those boundaries are getting harder to maintain. He feels the same pull that Cassandra does. Yet, both have secrets that threaten any future they may have dreamed about.

I enjoyed the romance, but I enjoyed the suspenseful twists and turns just as much. The story was both character driven and plot driven. Snow’s writing was gorgeous and descriptive. She drew me into a world I didn’t even know existed, and I fell in love with it.

If you are looking for something completely different and unexpected, you need to give this little gem a try! Hopefully, you will find it just as darkly beautiful as I did.

This book caught me off guard. I really wasn’t sure if I was going to like it because I am normally not one that is drawn into the circus theme because I don’t care much for clowns. That said, I was blown away with the elegance in which the writer conveys the storyline. The aerialists in this story really are captivating in the way they are described in this story. I love the determination of the leading female character. She sets her mind to something and runs with it. This book brought out a lot of emotions for the characters that help give the reader a sense of being. It really drew me in and made me feel everything they were feeling. There is suspense, love, danger, and a lot more that I wish I could talk about but don’t want to spoil this for others. It is a must read and I can’t wait for the second book because I need to know what happens. The steam in this book is done with grace. It really helps build the storyline. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes suspense, danger, and steam. It was a very quick read because I had to know what happened. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. This is the first book of the series and I am hooked ready for more.

This is a dark student, teacher romantic suspense which had me gripped from start to finish and kept me captivated throughout. When new student Cassandra arrives at his circus, acrobat and silk aerialist Chandler Moreau is tempted to traverse the line between darkness and desire. Cassandra has always been enraptured by Chandler, a man who defies gravity and wanted to belong to his world, and to perform with him. However, Chandler is no ordinary mentor and along with teaching her, he also ignites her deepest and most sinful desires, until the dangerous man becomes Cassandra’s only salvation.
For Chandler, Cassandra Blackstone was his protege, but also the woman he wanted. She tempted him and became a sanctuary for his darkest and wildest desires, but he never intended to fall in love with her. He was supposed to protect her from both himself and the demons in his past, but despite his grandfather’s warnings he wanted her in his life. Cassandra and Chandler share a history which entwines them, like the silks they spent their lives mastering do. The secrets from the past threaten to destroy their future. The wonderfully detailed and descriptive narrative really brought the circus setting vividly to life, and made me feel immersed in the world of the two silk aerialists. The main characters had me engaged from the beginning, and their chemistry sizzled off the page whilst their slow burn romance kept me hooked.

Obedience (Ties That Bind Book 1) Audiobook by Liza Snow – Review by Jessica Stone

This book… was wonderful, let’s just start out by saying, I had no idea what I was in for with this book and author.
It was complete and utter torture, the slow burn is real with this novel and it made the climax ten times more wonderful, I loved every second of it.

The relationship that blooms between our handsome french man and his student makes my toes curl, the attraction between the two being almost instant and having to wait to see how things played out built the narrative between them seamlessly. Chandler and Cassandra relationship is what my dreams are made of, their age gap, sudden attraction, will they won’t they, fierce protectiveness is all a girl can dream to have. Chandler is a dream boat and a wonderful male lead even through all of his attempts to push casa away and fight his undeniable attraction to her. And Cass was just a lost girl, who’s become a woman who knows where she belongs, and always has and that’s next to Chandler.

This is my first novel from Liza Snow but I can say it will not be my last.

The first chapter or two was a little slow for me, I had no idea that by continuing to read I’d be thrust into this intriguing world of love, sex, betrayal, games, mystery and more. Be warned though, before getting hooked like me, this story will leave you on a cliff grasping to hold on.
This book has a awesome amount of suspense and intrigue to it, not just some sappy love story to swoon over( though it is completely swoon worthy) and though the suspense and angst between the two main characters had me face palming more than a few times, I couldn’t help but fall in love with them.

Anyways, I highly recommend giving this book a shot, you might be pleasantly surprised like I was, and unable to put the book down, you never know.

Obedience (Ties That Bind Book 1) by Liza Snow – Review by Dr. Anya Schultz

ObedienceObedience by Liza Snow
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Obedience is about a girl named Cassandra Blackstone. Cassandra is a silk aerialist who has always wanted to be mentored by one of the greats, Chandler Moreau. Cassandra auditions for the school that Chandler’s family owns and receives a full scholarship, mentorship, and a job as a teacher assistant. I won’t go into too much detail because there is a lot of things that happen in this book. Long story short, Cassandra is borderline obsessed with Chandler and he seems to have similar feelings once he saw her perform. He is quite older then her and recently divorced so he is seen as a little bit of a grump (not to mention he hates his father). While infatuated with each other, this is not a love at first sight type of story – they each have a lot of baggage and secrets. They do end up falling for each other, but at what cost. Chandler’s family is evil from what we have seen so far and Cassandra is trying to rid the evil from her former life. That doesn’t really bode well for falling for a guy who has evil in his blood. There is this back and forth of information throughout the entire book and is left on a cliff hanger.
Overall, I enjoyed the book. I think it provided something a little different then what I am use to reading so that was refreshing. However, there is a lot of information to pay attention to so I had to make sure that I wasn’t too tire while reading. As for the characters, I thought they were interesting. I didn’t love them but didn’t hate them either. Chandler seems a little overbearing and overprotective, but I am sure there is a lot of reasoning behind it. However, I do think he is a little controlling as well, and while I normally love that in a male character, for some reason it just wasn’t hitting the same for me with Chandler. As for Cassandra, I thought she was smart, elegant (in her craft) but a little naive. However, there is a point where she just says what needs to be said and does what needs to be done. I do love that when came to the love story there wasn’t too much build up – however, there was always another secret around the corner. The romance built up so good, but then at times I wanted more. I will read book 2 because I now need to at least know what all the secrets are!!

At age 25 she auditions for his company and he is a judge. She makes it and she inspires Chandler so much even after his divorce and a injury she is just what he needs to motivate him. They soon become more than coworkers and it is a very fast and furious love affair. Will they be able to continue to work together and have a relationship or will their past come back and mess it all up? This is a fast paced, hot romance that is very emotional.
