This little kid series is too cute. I read this book to my niece and she absolutely loved it. She loves the pictures as well as the story. Caspian is having another unbirthday and he can’t wait to see what his grandpa got for him this year. When he opens his present he doesn’t see anything inside. Caspian doesn’t know it but there’s magic everywhere including time. Will his magic help him or will he not believe enough? Review @heatherbass
Bees in Loretta’s Bonnet (Loretta’s Insects) by Lois Wickstrom
This isn’t the first book I’ve read by the author. The author sure knows how to keep kids coming back. My daughter absolutely loves the books by this author.
Loretta goes outside to gather firewood for her family. She finds that the wood is stuck together by the ice. As she finds something to get the wood unstuck she loses her bonnet. When she goes out that spring she finds that the bees have made a home in her bonnet. I couldn’t choose a quote for her.

Loretta is carrying firewood when she drops it and discovers a leafcutter bee nest. There are holes throughout the tube shaped bee nest but no bees to be found. Where are the bees?
Looking around, she discovers more holes in the rose bush and their leaves but no bees? What happened to them?
This is a fun and educational book about leafcutter bees. I am not a fan of bees but this was really informative and made me appreciate them more.
This was a wonderfully illustrated book that helps provide parents with many talking points they can use with their children in multiple child households. This story shows how a family of four, a boy and a girl, have lots of sibling rivalry, and have a really hard time getting along with each other until it comes time to agree to disagree. I’ve read many books by this author and I have really enjoyed them all. I love to share them with my children and we usually have a really good time talking about them.
This is a very cute story and the first in the series. I read this to my niece and she absolutely loved it. Loretta lives in a cabin with her family and she is a little mysterious. She goes outside and finds some ladybugs. Loretta is very curious about how they live in the winter and she brings them home with her. She ends up understanding a lot more about ladybugs than she ever thought. This is a very cute and educational read for kids. Review @heatherbass
This isn’t the first book I’ve read by the author. I love reading the authors’ books to my daughter and she enjoys it as well. The Sneaky Kitten is the fourth book in the Invisible Magic Wand Series.
A little boy and his grandpa are out for a walk when they see a frisbee stuck in the tree. The little boy goes to get something from home and tries to get the frisbee out of the tree. Then he notices that there is a cat. I couldn’t choose a quote for the book.
This book is about a brother and sister that fight about everything. While they get very creative in trying to outdo one another, I think maybe a parent should have stepped in a couple times here. This is often the kind of sibling rivalry we see. Normally though the siblings grow closer as they get older. Realistic in nature, overall a cute story!

The sneaky kitten is another lovely book in the invisible magic wand series. In this children’s story Caspian is given magical hot chocolate socks for his unbirthday by his grandpa. He’s thrilled to put them to use when he finds a frisbee that then gets stuck in a tree. In the process he finds a little kitten with a knack for getting into some sticky, dangerous situations. This little, sneaky kitten is connected to the frisbee in a neat, surprising way. What a cute book!
This isn’t the first book I’ve read by the author. Dream-Shifter is the first multi chapter book that I’ve had the chance to read by the author. My daughter absolutely loved this book.
Gwendolyn is the one who dresses like the olden days. She likes to be old fashioned, but she didn’t expect to be a dream shifter. She bugs Wally and lets him know what is going on. The quote I chose for Gwendolyn is: “Let’s start with you telling me the whole process from the beginning. What happens when someone dies?”
The Dwarves’ Dilemma: A Science Folktale (Science Folktales) by Lois Wickstrom
This isn’t the first book I’ve read by the author. The Dwarves’ Dilemma is a Science Folktales novel. This author sure knows how to keep kids entertained and my daughter can’t wait for the next book.
The Queen is fair and she tries to do what is best for everyone in her kingdom. When the Dwarves come in and they are fighting. She finds that her mirror no longer shows the fairness sparkle in her eye. The quote I chose for the Queen is: “The problem was my mistake, not yours. From now on, I will pay all my servants.”
This isn’t the first book I’ve read by the author. Pardon Me, Please is a fantastic read for families. This book was short and sweet. The author has a way with words.
A family goes to a Turkey farm to get their Thanksgiving dinner. When they get there they find that the President has pardoned his turkey. The little girl wants to know if they can do the same. I couldn’t choose a quote for any of the characters.
Just One More Egg is a heartwarming story about Mama Warbler who takes care of another bird’s egg after they drop it in her nest. Other birds tell her to get rid of the egg, but she doesn’t mind keeping it, after all, it is just one more egg. The book teaches a wonderful moral about helping others, even when you do not have to. Lois Wickstrom created a sweet children’s book. This would be great for teaching social skills in the classroom or daycare. This book has beautiful illustrations created by Francie Mion that bring the story to life.

Dinosaur Friends: 2 books in 1: A Present for the Volcano and Saving Conifer’s Eggs by Lois Wickstrom

Saving Conifer’s Eggs A fire breaks out and Spike tries to get Conifer away. Conifer is worried about her nest. She has two arms and three eggs. The quote I chose for Conifer is: “Push the tree.”
A Present for the Volcano A volcano is about to erupt. Conifer and Spike are too close to it. Spike decides to make it a necklace. After they’re done the necklace keeps the lava away from them. The quote I chose for Conifer is: “Now we’re safe.”
Mermaid and the Water Magnifying Glass: a Mermaid Science Story by Lois Wickstrom
This isn’t the first book I’ve read by the author. Mermaid and the Water Magnifying Glass is a great read. I love reading these stories to my daughter.
Trezzie is back again to see her friends. One still can’t see her, but the other can. She gives them a rock and Fig whines that it’s too small for their tower. The quote I chose for Trezzie is: “Look what I found.”

Not my first book I’ve read by the author. The author knows how to get kids’ attention and keep them for a short period of time. My daughter absolutely loves these little books I read to her.
Oliver is an alligator that is adopted. When he hurts himself and gets sent to his room he starts thinking. What if he wasn’t adopted? What would his life be like? The quote I chose for Oliver is: “Then I guess I’ll stay with you two. But first I want to mend my pillowcase.”

The Mermaid and the Ice Cube Necklace (Mermaid Science) by Lois Wickstrom
This is another fantastic read by the author. My daughter just loves these books. The Mermaid and the Ice Cube Necklace is another Mermaid Science Series. It’s a great read for parents with kids.
Trezzie is the same fun loving mermaid. She swims up and sees that her friends have ice cubes. She wants to have a necklace made out of them because they’re shiny. The quote I chose for Trezzie is: “I’d better swim home to show off my necklace before it melts away.”
