The Empty Box (Invisible Magic Wand)The Empty Box by Lois Wickstrom
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This little kid series is too cute. I read this book to my niece and she absolutely loved it. She loves the pictures as well as the story.
Caspian is having another unbirthday and he can’t wait to see what his grandpa got for him this year. When he opens his present he doesn’t see anything inside. Caspian doesn’t know it but there’s magic everywhere including time. Will his magic help him or will he not believe enough?

This isn’t the first book I’ve read by the author. The author sure knows how to keep kids coming back. My daughter absolutely loves the books by this author.

Loretta goes outside to gather firewood for her family. She finds that the wood is stuck together by the ice. As she finds something to get the wood unstuck she loses her bonnet. When she goes out that spring she finds that the bees have made a home in her bonnet. I couldn’t choose a quote for her.

Highly recommended for Kids and Family lovers.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Loretta is carrying firewood when she drops it and discovers a leafcutter bee nest. There are holes throughout the tube shaped bee nest but no bees to be found. Where are the bees?

Looking around, she discovers more holes in the rose bush and their leaves but no bees? What happened to them?

This is a fun and educational book about leafcutter bees. I am not a fan of bees but this was really informative and made me appreciate them more.

Super Enemies by Lois Wickstrom – Review by Micalah Weatherholtz

Super EnemiesSuper Enemies by Lois Wickstrom
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a wonderfully illustrated book that helps provide parents with many talking points they can use with their children in multiple child households. This story shows how a family of four, a boy and a girl, have lots of sibling rivalry, and have a really hard time getting along with each other until it comes time to agree to disagree. I’ve read many books by this author and I have really enjoyed them all. I love to share them with my children and we usually have a really good time talking about them.

This is a very cute story and the first in the series. I read this to my niece and she absolutely loved it. Loretta lives in a cabin with her family and she is a little mysterious. She goes outside and finds some ladybugs. Loretta is very curious about how they live in the winter and she brings them home with her. She ends up understanding a lot more about ladybugs than she ever thought. This is a very cute and educational read for kids.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is about a brother and sister that fight about everything. While they get very creative in trying to outdo one another, I think maybe a parent should have stepped in a couple times here. This is often the kind of sibling rivalry we see. Normally though the siblings grow closer as they get older. Realistic in nature, overall a cute story!

The sneaky kitten is another lovely book in the invisible magic wand series. In this children’s story Caspian is given magical hot chocolate socks for his unbirthday by his grandpa. He’s thrilled to put them to use when he finds a frisbee that then gets stuck in a tree. In the process he finds a little kitten with a knack for getting into some sticky, dangerous situations. This little, sneaky kitten is connected to the frisbee in a neat, surprising way. What a cute book!

Just One More Egg (Science Folktales Book 6) by Lois Wickstrom – Review by Jamie

Just One More Egg is a heartwarming story about Mama Warbler who takes care of another bird’s egg after they drop it in her nest. Other birds tell her to get rid of the egg, but she doesn’t mind keeping it, after all, it is just one more egg. The book teaches a wonderful moral about helping others, even when you do not have to. Lois Wickstrom created a sweet children’s book. This would be great for teaching social skills in the classroom or daycare. This book has beautiful illustrations created by Francie Mion that bring the story to life.
