This is a quick read with strong characters. As a second novel in the series I had hoped for more storyline and got it. I was impressed with the details, not only of what’s happening but the places, cultural references and a little history. Mia and Nick are a match made in hell it seems as they do nothing but fight. Both are bound and determined to get their ways. You will find a lot of romance, drama and even some steam in this book. I am excited for book three!

Effie has done it again and in my opinion has done it better than the first time! The characters are larger than life and come to life as you flip each page. The plot is well written and keeps readers attention from start to finish! In my opinion the author has pulled readers in even better than the first installment and I know they best is yet to come!

This is the second book in the Meraki Series and I loved it. I feel in love with this book as I did with the first one. The author has done it again with the beautifully written plot and characters. I’ve fallen in love with this authors way of writing. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series and more books from this author in the future!

As this series continues I am yet again captivated by the relationships of both friends and family detailed and developing throughout the storyline. You could if you wish read this fun and heartfelt book on its own but I do highly recommend reading this series from the start as there is a storyline threaded through this book that started in the first and I believe will further develop in the 3rd. You won’t want to miss any details.
This book brings us the story of Mia and Nicholas and adds more to the story of the wonderful Yiayia and her life. Wow she is one sassy woman that I’d love to have in my life. Nicholas falls for Mia straight away but boy oh boy does he hate that idea and acts out accordingly. In fact his hostility around her is so strong she is absolutely convinced he hates her. Again there are lots of twists and turns in their story to keep you captivated and wanting more! Bring on book 3 I say!

When reading a series of books you always hope the next book is just as good or better than the last but you’re never really sure till you actually read it. Let me just say book #2 in this series definitely doesn’t disappoint.
The author did a great job again with the storyline and the characters. I really liked being able to “see” some of the characters from the 1st story.
The little “extras” at the ends of some of the chapters were nice little surprises I enjoyed.
The language, culture and history of the characters were nice to see as well.
If you need a reminder that fate & destiny are real then you definitely need to read this story.

I was super excited to read this next book which focuses on the story of Mia and Nicholas! I got to know Mia a little bit in the first book of this series so I was happy to see that she got her own story.

Mia has just landed her dream job at a luxury magazine. She loves doing photo layouts and travelling around to see the sites for her job. Her boss sure is one hottie though…but looks to be attached at the hip to someone else. Little does Mia know, Nicholas and his sister run the company together and often make public appearances side by side.

Nicholas is, let’s say, rough around the edges and makes it nearly impossible for Mia to work with him. She quits her job several times only to have Penelope, Nicholas’s sister, beg her to come back. They need her in order for this magazine to get the attention that it deserves.

This book further explores the mystery of Yiayia and Panos and is starting to really heat up. The fact that Nicholas is intrigued helps the family out in ways that they never dreamed could come about. We learn slightly more about Kallye and Max too!

I don’t know a lot about Greek culture but this book has had me intrigued. I do enjoy Greek food and I love that there are recipes scattered throughout. Reading this book, like the first one, I felt a part of the family. Let’s just say Nicholas better be glad Mia isn’t my sister in real life or we’d be having some words with each other!

I’ve always wanted to work on a magazine and I love an alpha male! This second book in the series delivers it all! It was great to learn more about Mia and her life away from her family plus the gorgeous Nicholas of course! What is behind his hot and cold attitude? I love when characters have depth like that! What can I say but yet another amazing book by this author!

This is the type of book to sweep you right off your feet and into the lives of both characters to be a fly on the wall in their story. It was romantic, funny at times, but most of all charming as it teased you with these two falling in love but doing so naturally and innocent. Pretty easy to read and straight to the point. Entertaining till the last page with characters you can’t help but fall in love with. By having read previous works of the author’s I highly recommend this one and many more.

The second book in the series was just as good as the first! Focusing on a new couple, Mia and Nicholas, it was great to see a new authors twist on the forbidden office romance trope, which she excelled at! My favorite thing about this story, like many others, was seeing Nicholas slowly opening up to Mia, as at the beginning of the story he has very firmly closed his heart off to prevent further heartache. I loved watching him learn to trust her with his heart, it very much reminds me of myself, someone else who takes awhile to fully open themselves up to one of the most vulnerable things on the planet, someone else’s love. I also love that they continue one of the side stories in the first novel, trying to figure out what happened to the grandfather of Mia from this book and Kally from the previous. I am hoping to get more answers on the mystery in the next book, which I am ecstatic to read next.

This is book 2 in the Meraki series but in my opinion, this can be read as a standalone. I really enjoyed how the characters interact in this author’s stories; they feel so real and I got very invested. The author is very good at portraying family dynamics. Mia and Nicholas were not the pairing I would have predicted especially with the beginning of their relationship. but you couldn’t help but become invested and hope they would make it. Another fantastic read from this author.

First off I love this family. You feel the love for one another in every page and can’t help but love them too. I nearly had a heart attack when Mia thought she was being fired. But sometimes change is really for the best. I enjoyed reading about her and Nick’s adventure. Watching their love develop was beautiful, not perfect. Overcoming their own traumas and letting each other in was not easy but worth it. I think Mia and Nick are perfect for each other and I hope we get to “hear” wedding bells in the future.

Love by Design by Effie Kammenou is book two in the Meraki series. Book two follows Mia who we didn’t see much in book one but oh boy is she funny and relatable. I quite enjoyed the flow of this book and thought it was easier to follow than the first. Although I admit it was a little hard to like Nicholas. The point, maybe. And having a past as he did would make anyone harden. Working together at a news magazine, Mia and Nicholas have to learn to navigate their love – hate relationship with one another. I am immensely jealous of the beautiful locations they went to for the magazine. I was quite pleased that the family secret was carried into the second book but I am hoping for a resolution here soon with book 3!

I fell in love with the Andarakis family and my my journey with them had been one of laughter , tears and precious memories made ❣️

I was rather excited to learn more about Mia , the next daughter in the family …

Being a typical dad , Pappa Andarakis wants his girls under his roof but the first one has a shop of her own and is soon to be married , Mia moved to the city and Krystina is still home and Mia is a firecracker in her own way ….

So Mia has landed her dream job but her new boss , Nick Aristedis is a thorn in her side and she in his it would seem and the 2 of them had me in stitches with their banter but thankfully Penelope , his sister , is the peacemaker between them them and I’m sure she she’s what’s between them before they even realise it ❣️😉

Penelope and Nick suffered a huge loss as children and my heart broke for them and Nick bears scars of it and Mia comes to his aid and Mia noticed her tenderness ❣️

I really enjoyed Mia and Nick ♥️ but my highlight was
“ Did you just Elizabeth Bennet me ?” “ Only after you Darcyed me , you pompous snob” 😉😂

Another chapter of the Greek family I just want to be a part of ! I’m both excited and sad to see what the “baby” of the family had in store for me , excited because I just love these people , sad because I don’t want to say goodbye ….

Mia and Nicholas, a story of love that started in their teens. Lost and alone, he came to her aid and reunited her with her family,,,only to disappear into life. Many years later, he appears back in her life as her boss the publication she works for. Alas, she doesn’t realize it’s him. The humor, romance and drama begins now. There is so much chemistry between these two (if they would just realize it). They both have baggage to work through. With the aid of Grandma and their families, they can get through this? We also get more insight into Grandma’s romance with her missing husband. Nicholas is investigating his disappearance and we are a little closer but nothing set in stone yet. This is book 2 of the series and I love it. It ties in nicely with book 1. The characters are totally relatable. Just your crazy family trying to love everyone and get along. We all want a family like Mia’s. I do have to say their love story just brings out all the emotions. You ride the emotion roller coaster. It is the sweetest story. Highly recommended for all romance readers. Definitely would give more than a 5 if I could.

This is your Enemies to Lovers story. Love by Design is the second book in The Meraki Series by Effie Kammenou. In this story, we follow Mia Andarakis as she takes on her dream job of Creative Director of the luxury magazine Opul. This position will take her to ultimate goal that is until her boss is none other than Nicholas Aristedis. Mia has watched him from afar and had the biggest crush on him. However, Nick has put a wall up around his heart and refuses to fall for another woman. That is until he meets Mia, but he refuses to fall. It turns out that Nick is almost nearly impossible to work with. What do you think is going to happen when these two start working with each other? Will these two last being enemies? These characters are pretty awesome. I couldn’t put the book down with it being such an easy read. I love this series. You can read this book without reading the first book. However, like I always say…you should read the series in order. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

Love by Design (The Meraki Series Book 2) by Effie Kammenou – Review by Charlisa Wahtomy-Alba

Mia Andarakis has just been promoted to Associate Art Director of a new luxury magazine called Opul. She will be working directly with the man she has been admiring from afar, Nicholas Aristedis, the owner of Aris Magazines and her boss. The version of him she has painted in her head is nothing like the man she has come to know through work. As she quoted, “how can someone be so beautiful on the outside and yet so equally ugly on the inside?” At first their relationship is hostile and they bicker over a lot of things, but once their relationship grows they become a great team. Nick has been hurt over the years, but maybe his luck has changed with Mia? Several misunderstandings and a lot of hours put in to make this magazine a success could lead to more than just a work relationship. Is Mia ready for more? Is Nick ready to let go of his past?

This is the 2nd book in the Meraki series and I really enjoyed it. The author does a great job of pulling you in with her writing.

Mia is finally getting a chance at her dream job. Only problem is Nicholas, they have chemistry but yet things can also be a little cold at times and they come at each other. When they have to go to Greece for an assignment things take an interesting twist.

Will these two finally get it right and connect?

Overall this was a great read. You can read as a stand alone but I suggest reading book one first, it will help you connect better with the characters. The characters added a great element to the story and I really liked them. My emotions were all over the place. If you’re looking for a great series 1-click and get started today.

As with her first book in the Meraki series Love by Design is amazing. While it can be read as a standalone I highly recommend reading Love is What you Bake of it first for context, reacuring characters, and some family details. Just like the first book Love by Design is a fun, light, and slightly funny book, but don’t let that fool you. While Miss Kammenou gives us a lighter romance story it is still full of adventure, mystery, and drama that will keep you furiously flipping the pages to find out what happens next. Once again Miss Kammenou gives us wonderful character descriptions, great scenery, and overall a wonderful story. I know I for one can’t wait to see what Miss Kammenou gives us next.

Love by Design (The Meraki Series #2) by Effie Kammenou

This is the second book in The Meraki Series. It’s also the second book I’ve ready by Kammenou. Love by Design is amazing just like Love is What You Bake of It.

Mia is living in the city instead of with her family. She doesn’t want to be stuck in a small town. When she meets Nicholas her life is flipped upside down. The quote I chose for Mia is: “Precious time. That’s not for me. How did couples meet before all this online stuff? What happened to the old-fashioned way of meeting by chance, or at work, or through a friend?”

Nicholas runs his business with his sister. When he meets Mia things change. He isn’t sure what to make of her. Things aren’t clear until they spend time alone. The quote I chose for Nicholas is:“Well, I’ll leave you to your thoughts.”

Highly recommended for Contemporary Romance lovers.

Love by Design (The Meraki Series Book 2) by Effie Kammenou

Oh my goodness, I throughly enjoyed this Book.  Nicholas and Mia have one of the more rocky love/hate relationships but there is so much more than you can even come close to imaging and some interesting twists along the way.

I found myself getting frustrated with both of them from time to time, like I would my own children.  Especially with the assumptions they both would make.

Yiayiá is just precious and I am so interested to find out what happens with her story.  I hate waiting to find out but I have a feeling we won’t know the full story until the final book.

I loved the traveling and it has made me more curious about Greece and the Greek culture.   There is so much history there and the pictures I have seem are breathtakingly beautiful.   I may have also copied one of the recipes to try one night for a nicer dinner.

Krystina’s story appears to be next and I cannot wait.

Love By Design is the 2nd book in the Meraki Series by Effie Kammenou. I loved the first book Love Is What You Bake Of It so was looking forward to reading this one. I think I loved this one even more than the first.
In this book we get the story of Kally from the first book’s sister Mia. Mia has just been given a promotion and her new boss is Nicholas, the man she has crushed on for ages but she really doesn’t like the Nicholas who she starts working with.
I thoroughly enjoyed Mia and Nicholas’ story. As with the first book, I loved the family dynamic that is portrayed. Family is very important to both Mia and Nicholas and they paly a large role within the story.
I really enjoyed watching the relationship of Mia and Nicholas evolve from the 2 of them fighting over absolutely every little thing to them working together as a fantastic team, both in and out of work.
This really is a great read, I was hooked from the very beginning and was entertained from beginning to end and I now look forward to see what Effie Kammenou has in store for the Kally and Mia’s little sister and Loukas. Judging by what we have seen of the 2 of them together so far, it’s going to be another great read.

Love by Design (The Meraki series, #2)Love by Design by Effie Kammenou
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Mia Andarakis is one of four children in a typical greek household, however, she doesn’t live the typical single woman’s greek life, she lives in an apartment in the city with her best friend, she has a job with a magazine as a graphic designer amongst other things and a family who loves her, even if they can be stifling and overly opinionated at times, but she is convinced that she was born in the wrong era as her tastes in fashion and music are not current by any means, but she is happy. Today however, she is going to the first meeting of the Community of Creatives in Publishing (CCP), but when she sees the man on the podium, Nicholas Aristedis, the CEO of Aris Publishing, all rational thought and movement are scrubbed from her mind, he is stunning and his voice is like nothing she has ever heard before and she has definitely never reacted in such a way before, so she doesn’t quite know how to handle it. The CCP also have an awards ceremony yearly and this year Mia is proud to have been on the committee organising it, but when she comes face to face with Nicholas, he glares at her and she is dumbstruck as to why, so when she is congratulated on her role in the event and is asked for her resume to be sent to the head of the CCP, she is more than elated, however, when she hears that the company is being restructured and she is called to HR the next week, she starts to overthink and convinces herself that she is being let go of, so when she is told that she is in fact being moved to a different magazine thanks to a recommendation and is to work directly under Nicholas as his Associate Art Director.

Mia throws herself into research about the demographic of this new magazine, so she is prepared for her first day and the staff meeting she will be in, when she finds out more about the magazine and what it will be all about, Mia has an idea already coming together in her head and goes straight to work on a pitch and three hours later emails it to Nicholas and is immediately called into his office to discuss how the meeting should have been three hours ago! She is unnerved and intimidated by the man, but when they discuss everything, he is nothing like what he seemed at the meetings and they end up having a difference of opinion and bringing out the worst in each other, to the point that Mia debates whether she can work with a man who hates her and cannot stand being around her. When she gets back from lunch, she is called into the other CEO’s office and to her astonishment and delight, she is presented with an apology for Nicholas’s behavior and the knowledge that her pitch has not only been discussed and has been accepted, but will be used as the layout for the inaugural issue! She celebrates over dinner with friends and when she gets home is exhausted but brimming with ideas, so she sets up her laptop and works until she falls asleep, however, the next morning doesn’t go to plan and she ends up being a little late to the office and is immediately called into Nicholas’s office, who proceeds to apologise to her, but things are said and they have another disagreement where he says things are not going to work between them on a professional level, hearing this, Mia forwards him what she was working on the night before and packs up her desk to go stay with her sister.

After a long talk with her sister and a good night’s sleep, Mia head to her sisters cafe to help out and work out all the feelings by baking, but when Nicholas turns up after she didn’t turn up for work and searching for her, she agrees to hear him out and after the air is cleared, they return to the office to work on the magazine and she is told that they will be going to Athens in a couple of weeks to work on the next issue. Will Mia and Nicholas be able to work through their differences and together create something beautiful, or will their temperaments get between them and send things off the rails? This is another sweet romance with a carousel of mystery, heartbreak and love rotating throughout where past mysteries collide with current events in a way that would never be expected.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is book 2 in the series but is standalone. I haven’t read book 1 and didn’t feel like I was missing out on any of the story.
Mia has just got her dream promotion at a brand new magazine, working directly with company boss, Nicholas. However, they just seem to rub each other the wrong way and just can’t get on without bickering. Both do have an attraction to each other.
This book isn’t just about Mia and Nicholas though, many other characters are woven into the story, but it’s done so well that you can keep track of who everyone is and the part they play. The extended family certainly brought some humour into the book. Delving into the history of Mia’s grandma was interesting and also heartbreaking.
As Mia and Nicholas try to work together, they find that they have many things in common, and would be perfect for each other if they could just get past their issues. Both had been hurt in the past and were reluctant to try again. It was refreshing to see that it’s not just women who have relationship hang-ups, men do too. It was extremely frustrating to see Mia, a grown woman, constantly abandon situations rather than actually talk to people, it certainly made for a lot of arguments that could have been resolved quickly had she just stayed and talked.
Overall, an interesting story.

Love by Design by Effie Kammenou is book two The Meraki Series. This book can be read as a standalone as this book tells Mia’s story.

Mis is so excited for her new job since it’s her dream job! The only issue she’s run into is her boss, Nicholas, isn’t who she thought he was and his seemingly instant dislike of her makes getting the job done pretty difficult. Nicholas ha his reasons for feeling the way he feels toward Mia but the more time they spend together he can’t help but appreciate how talented she is. Little by little he realizes their connection is much deeper than thought. Mia breaks through his walls all while fighting fears of her own. Will these two be able to fight the fears of their past and trust in the connection between them?

This book has a little bit of everything. There is drama, romance and you can’t forget the beautiful scenery. The tension between Mia and Nicholas feels so real you can’t help but feel for Mia every time Nicholas snaps at her. The characters are so well written you can’t help but want to be part of their world! I am looking forward to book three.

This is the second book in the Meraki series and itnwas just as enjoyable as the first. The story of a work romance and a love hate relationship keeps you hooked with a will they won’t they feel.

Mia has just got her dream job with a luxury magazine and she gets to work under a boss she has always admired and had a crush on Nicholas what could possible go wrong?

Mia is shocked when Nicholas isn’t how she imagined he would be. When he dismisses her work and his attitude towards her causes friction from their first meeting. Mia wonders if she can still work with him.

Nicholas has faced many heartaches in his life which has lead him to build walls and keep people out so when Mia starts to break these walls he gets worried about getting hurt again.

This is a story about a relationship where it is definately love/hate but why does Nicholas treat Mia that way? Could there be more to the feelings they are both experiencing? And when do you cross the line between hating someone to loving them?

I enjoyed this novel. I appreciated the pace of the characters coming together. Effie highlighted that while love is not always easy it is worth it and for Mia and Nicholas’ relationship, it was perfect. Effie’s utilization of the flashback technique provided a better understanding of certain elements and insight about the characters and strengthened one of the themes (destiny) in the novel. I admired the complexity of the main characters. It was easy to follow, engaging and romantic in every sense of the word. Love by Designed is packed with layers (pages) and the more you read the more you want to know, the more you are intrigued.
