This is an introduction to a new-to-me author, as well as a new series. This is a romantic suspense featuring Lea Milan. Lea was once known as Michaela Manning but due to circumstances that put her in harm’s way, she’s had to change her name. A decades old murder is still haunting her and now that her dad is rising in power, it’s putting all that she’s worked to move past in danger.
This book has a little bit of everything. Mystery, suspense, romance, lies, betrayal, murder, political tones, and more. It’s a very intriguing book that will hook you pretty quickly.
I look forward to the next chapter in this story. I do hope that we will hear more from Max!

I enjoyed reading this suspenseful story. This is a newer author for me which I enjoyed how they brought the twist and turns to life. I also enjoyed their attention to details that made the characters come to life who pulled you into the story with ease. This is a well written story about Michaela. Her grandfather was assassinated in front of her and almost took her life as well. She has remained hidden for a long time. Now that she is back, she finds herself in the middle of a media mess. Maxwell was head of security back then and has been asked to do security presently. What will happen with the things that are lurking in the shadows? I enjoyed watching the growth from beginning to end of the characters and the plot. The twists and turns will have you coming back for more. This suspenseful story is one you don’t want to miss. I look forward to seeing what is next for this author. I highly recommend this book.

4 Stars Secrets, Lies and Betrayals (Protect and Honor Series) by Lynn Wood
Secrets, Lies and Betrayals is the first book in the Protect and Honor Series . This is a Romance Suspense that pulled me in from the beginning and had me on the edge of my seat turning the pages trying to figure out what was going to happen next. This story is packed with drama, action, suspense , danger, secrets, lies, betrayal and so much more. This is a fairly new author to me and I’m definitely going to check out what other books they have written. Michaela Manning is a survivor of terrible tragedies from such a young age, at three years old she witnessed a terrible assassination of her grandfather the state senator and was shot in the process. She’s lived her life in hiding under a different name until her secret identity is leaked. She’s not safe but can Maxwell keep her protected this time? I don’t want to give away anything else. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I’m looking forward to reading more from this Author.

This is book one of two. It starts off with an assassination of Michaela Manning’s grandfather and a poor 3 year-old Michaela wounded from it. She survived but her life was never the same after that fateful day. Maxwell Cole a former special forces operative was assigned to security on the day that Michaela got shot, in fact he was the one who carried her to waiting medical helicopter. Michaela had to go in to hiding after so she changed her name to Lea Milan. She moved to Paris to make a name for herself. However things have taken a dangerous turn with her father wanting to become POTUS (President of the United States). She is hoping that her new identity will keep her hidden but somehow her secret is revealed but by whom. No one knows but Max will find out who this person is and hopefully stop them from hurting Lea again.

This book has some great characters and plot line, but I found the pace to be a little slow. There were times I struggled to keep up with what was going on because of all the little details that were being thrown in. They were good details, but I did expect this novel to have some serious action and fast pace to it.
However, overall I enjoyed this book and the characters that the author made relatable. I do hope to see more action out of the next novel, but I also cannot wait to continue the storyline where Lea and Gabriel left off with Maddie.

This is book one in the Protect and Honor series. The story had me hooked from the beginning. With plenty of suspense and tragedy, lives are changed forever. The political agenda and exposure of a secret life gets thrown into the public. A political thriller with a little bit of romance involved makes for a great novel. I also liked that the main character has my middle name. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and can’t wait for the next installment.

Secrets, Lies and Betrayals (Protect and Honor Series) by Lynn Wood. This is my first book by this author but wow, it won’t be my last. This book was so hard to put down that I read it in just a few settings. Its the story of Michaela Manning who has lived under a assumed name for over 20 years because when she was 3 she was shot because of her grandfather who was killed as well. Living under the name of Lea Milan as an artist in Europe she has become quite successful and has constantly been looking over her shoulder because of her father and his political aspirations. Maxwell Cole is the security guy who saved Lea at the age of 3 and he continues to look after her all these years later. When her secret identity is in danger of being found out will Maxwell be able to continue to protect her? This political thriller will keep you on the edge of your seat til you are finished. Such a great book!

Secrets, Lies, and Betrayals: A Maxwell Cole Novel is the first book in the Protect and Honor Series by Lynn Wood. This is the first book that I have read by Ms. Wood, so I really didn’t know what I could expect from one of her stories- but as I love a great romantic suspense, I took a chance that this would live up to my expectations and one-clicked a copy to explore. The story snared my attention right from the beginning, and held me tightly in its grip, right through till the end. It proved to be a tense and engaging romantic suspense with political conspiracies, intrigue, agendas, secrets, betrayals, lies, tragedy, grief, heartache, loss, mystery, danger, dramatic developments, action, emotion, and more. The story is told from multiple points of view, which gives us, the readers, a very in-depth perspective of all the developments. Lea (Michaela) has experienced much trauma and grief in her short life, surviving against the odds. But her survival has come at a cost- having to live her life in secret, behind an assumed identity. So, what happens when her father’s political aspirations thrust her into the crosshairs of danger once again? Maxwell Cole managed to save her once, many years ago- but things have gotten much more complicated since then, so there’s no guarantee he will be able to save her again this time. So strap yourselves in for a bit of a gripping ride, as Lea faces secrets, lies, betrayals…. And danger- but discovers much along the way. I really enjoyed this story and am looking forward to reading Book #2. I will say though, as this is supposed to be a ‘Maxwell Cole’ novel, and while he did play a major role in the story, there were only a few chapters from his perspective- and being the first book in the series, I would have liked to have gotten to know him better. But this is just my personal preference and didn’t detract from my overall enjoyment of the story. Maybe we will get to ‘hear’ more from him over the course of the series. Well worth the read. Happy Reading…

This book is the kind of thriller that has you on the edge of your seat the whole way through. The story felt explosive and it pulled me in from the moment I started reading. I loved how the author weaved in the political aspect to the story, it made it so much more relatable in today’s world. I really connected with the main character. She has already preserved through so much in her life and suffers through so much more during this book. I wanted her to find happiness so much and yet the whole way through this book I wasn’t sure how things would work out. The author has created a gripping story that I could not put down until I had finished it.

Michaela Manning has been living under an assumed name for 20 years. At 3 years old her life is forever changed by a moment of violence. Maxwell Cole, a special forces operative, rushed in to save a young Michaela. Building a life after the tragedy, Lea Milan finds solace and herself in Europe. Away from the political landscape and limelight she finds her art and love. A political decision by her father sets in motion the destruction of her carefully created life. Maxwell Cole has been a constant in Lea’s life. In charge of her personal security for years and part of Leah’s chosen family. Will he be able to help guide Lea through this terrible journey once again? Will Lea be able to resurrect herself once again? Will her family and chosen loved ones be able to help her through another tragedy?
I really enjoyed this political thriller. With so much political unrest in the USA this really hits home about the secrets and lies that politicians tell their public and themselves. Lea’s story contains great tragedies but also her perseverance and strength which helps her regain her life and herself. I can’t wait to jump into the next book in the Protect and Honor Series. So glad we get to see more of Maxwell Cole!

Secrets, Lies and Betrayals is set in a political arena which has brought nothing but pain, loss and deceit. This is the first engrossing book in the Protect and Honor Series and the first book I have read by this author.
Maxwell Cole ex special forces operative saved her life and watched over her. With her life in jeopardy once again can he find the threat before it gets to her. He will do anything to keep her safe and expose the truth of the person behind it all. Can he save her twice?
She has been in hiding since she was shot as a little girl but someone is gunning for her again. Someone has exposed her and she is in just as much danger as she once was. Who was it that revealed her secrets?
It is fast paced, action packed, intense & suspenseful. It is an engaging read with a cleverly crafted plot keeping you on your toes. It certainly lives up to its name with plenty of secrets, lies and betrayals. Sometimes its better the devil you know or is it?

An absolute page turner. Michaela Manning, an adorable 3 year old is shot during the assassination of her grandfather a US Senator. Her life is anything but normal, she grows up under a false identity and is hidden away from everyone. That is until her entire world comes crumbling down and her true identity is exposed, but by who? A story that makes you question everything you think you knew about history and politics. Throw in some romance and it’s a book you can’t put down and will have you sitting on the edge of your seat till the very end.

Dinopotamus watches the children. He tries to do what they do. He follows them to school. He doesn’t fit through the door, so he climbs in the window. The children count their toes. They have five on each foot. He has three. The children see that he wants to learn, just like they do. They all learn together.
If you’re playing hide and seek, Lynn’s default hiding place is always between the pages of a book. Whether it’s a recent bestseller or the latest release from one of her favorite authors, or creating new stories of her own, Lynn’s world must include books to fall into, to be dragged under, to immerse herself in fantasies, romances, thrillers, ideas, or new ways of looking at and experiencing life. Her writing reflects her wide-ranging interests, but you’ll find most of her books in the romantic suspense, mysteries and thrillers and historical romance genres, usually with a magical or supernatural thread woven through the tapestry of the stories. When she’s not reading or writing, Lynn spends time with family and friends, traveling around the country and the world, and whenever she can, at the beach, under an umbrella…reading a book, of course.

Introducing Maxwell Cole and The Protect and Honor Series with Special Pre-order Pricing.Another Life Shattered by One More Madman with a Gun…When three-year-old Michaela Manning is gravely wounded and barely survives her grandfather’s assassination at the hands of political extremists, her family hides her away from public life under an assumed name.Maxwell Cole, a special forces operative, was assigned to security that fateful day in Tel Aviv. He was the guard who took a young, wounded Michaela from the Senator’s dying arms and raced with her to the waiting medical helicopter in a desperate attempt to save her life. When Michaela re-enters public life, her parents ask Max to head her security and keep her hidden and safe as there is still concern in intelligence circles Michaela is a potential target of the group responsible for her grandfather’s death. Now an adult, Michaela is busy creating a life for herself in Rome as sculpture artist, Lea Milan. She rarely thinks of her former life and identity, recognizing the woman she might have become as Michaela Manning died two decades earlier on a bright Tel Aviv morning when the single shot that killed her grandfather very nearly claimed both their lives. But Michaela’s father is an ambitious man and has his sights set on the most powerful elected office in the world. When Mitchell Manning wins his party’s nomination for President of the United States, his long-lost daughter, Michaela, becomes the center of a media storm. In Rome, Lea holds her breath in the lead up to the presidential election, praying her assumed name and assumed life withstands the onslaught of the unrelenting media scrutiny.Lea’s desperate hope proves futile. Her anonymity is shattered, and her two identities collide with devastating consequences to the life she was building beyond her past. The resulting media storm forces Lea back into hiding, while Max tries to uncover who was behind the breach revealing her identity to the world. Her father’s campaign takes advantage of the leak, reminding the avid public the threat to his daughter’s life is still out there. There’s no shortage of extremists, both domestic and international, in the current divisive political environment across the world. And yet, lurking in the shadows beneath the heated election rhetoric is a menace no one suspects, intent on violence and on reshaping the world order. But this time the threat is closer to home and has Lea in its crosshairs.
