Marshmallow Rabbit is a clever colourful and imaginative 30 paged adventure story. It is aimed at children from kindergarten through 3rd grade. Lois writes stories that are adventurous and teach valuable life lessons to children.
Annabelle loves candy and this sneaky little thief tours the chocolate factory whenever she can and leaves with all the sugary goodness she can steal. But Mr Bonbon decides to put a stop to her thieving ways and find a punishment that is befitting the crime.
This delightful children’s story is full of fun, with colourful and interesting illustrations by Janet King. The narrative makes for an engaging tale. There are also things to learn along the way such as the consequences of one’s actions.
You don’t have to be a child to enjoy the adventure.

The story of “Marshmallow Rabbit” by Lois Wickstrom is a clever and entertaining twist on the classic tale of the Tar Baby. Mr. Bonbon, the candy maker, is determined to catch Annabelle, the candy thief, and teach her a lesson. His plan involves creating a giant marshmallow rabbit to lure her into stealing it.

The author’s writing style is engaging and filled with humor, making the story a joy to read. The plot is well-developed and keeps the reader intrigued as they follow Mr. Bonbon’s antics to catch Annabelle.

Overall, “Marshmallow Rabbit” is a delightful and imaginative story that is sure to entertain readers of all ages. Wickstrom’s unique take on a familiar tale makes this book a standout read.

This is the tale of the game between Mr. Bonbon and Annabelle where Mr. Bonbon has to come up with a way to get Annabelle to stop stealing the candy from his candy factory. Annabelle is always outsmarting him and she does it again this time. I like how Wickstrom’s stories always have a lesson to be learned in her stories; however, with this story I feel that the lesson is subtle and could possibly be missed by kid and misconstrued into a not-so-nice lesson. I was hoping at the end Annabelle would be remorseful about stealing the candy and she and Mr. Bonbon would be able to figure things out, but that’s not the case. There is a lesson to be learned, but it’s not really done in a way that I feel is appropriate. I really like the illustrations in this story. They are bright and colorful and they follow the story really well.

I loved this story. The owner is trying to teach the young girl about stealing. The story is entertaining, fun and tries to teach a lesson. The characters are witty with their conversation in trying to catch each other. I read this with my grandson. He gave it a 5. I also give it a 5. This is probably our favorite yet. We are still talking about ways to help protect the candy from thieves and how the little old ladies could have helped. It’s a fun story and a great conversation starter to jump start the imagination.

The two main characters are a candy shop owner and a thieving child. The title cleverly comes into play. The young thief is thwarted when a marshmallow rabbit she swipes puts her into a sticky situation. When confronted, the little thief has an attitude that reminds me of Brer Rabbit. Clever thinking gets her out of the sticky situation, but the consequences of her actions will probably sadden her.
