New children’s author to me and LOVE his work already. Fun beautiful illustrations and fun rhymes make this James Williamson an instant hit for the whole family. My seven-year-old loved the unique ways everyone loves the same food but in their own way. He likes his PB & J by itself, but I like mine with Doritos, but only the original nacho cheese ones. How do you like your PB & J? I can’t wait to read more of this talented author’s other books with my son.

This was a great story for bedtime. My little one is almost two and he loved the pictures. I know he’s not reading yet but he liked listening to the story before bed. I enjoyed the rhyming and the overall silliness. And come on of course peanut butter sandwiches are great! It’s nice and short so kids don’t lose interest. My kiddo kept wanting me to read it again and wanted to see the pictures over and over. I think this would be perfect for a child learning to read. Very cute and well worth a five star review.

Our whole family absolutely adored this book! We have read it several times already because my kids have requested it repeatedly. The illustrations are just beautiful and really add more fun to the story. Even though my kiddos are 8 and 12, we all bopped along to the rhyming rhythms as they are super catchy! We giggled the whole way through (repeatedly) which always makes story time fun. I highly recommend picking this up for any young ones in your life whether that’s at home, school, or a daycare. Everyone will definitely have a blast! I can’t wait to see more fun from this author.

Mealtime At the Zoo: PB & J Café is a really cute and fun, children’s illustrated story by James Williamson. My grandson and I had lots of fun following James the monkey as he delivered lunch to all the animals at the zoo. The specialty of the day- PB & J sandwiches all made to order- served just the way the animals liked- some even with ‘special’ ingredients added to suit the individual animals. The story is accompanied by lots of lovely, bright, colourful, interesting, and captivating illustrations — which brought the whole story to life. It is a charming little adventure – told in a rhyming verse that adds a fun tempo, as well as an extra element of interest to the whole story. We look forward to reading more of Mr. Williamson’s stories again, soon. Happy Reading…

This is a super cute rhyming book about different ways to enjoy a peanut butter and jelly sandwich! It features different animals and how they’d prefer to have their sandwich served. The illustrations are fun to look at and very colorful. All ages will enjoy this book that has an underlying theme of accepting the differences in others.

It’s time for the PBJ at the zoo. Our friend, the monkey server, takes us around the zoo to tell us what the animals prefer on their sandwiches. I found this to be quite the entertaining story. It’s done in a fun rhyming rhythm. The Illustrations are bright and colorful. This is a story that will catch children’s attention. It’s fun for the little ones right on us to the ones reading it to them It would be a wonderful addition to the family library.

James Williamson is a silly dad, with quirky ideas popping into his head all the time. He is a father of two girls and enjoys seeing the world through their eyes as they continue to grow and explore.
Inspiration for his debut novel Mealtime at the Zoo, PB & J Café, came while walking through the Fresno Chaffee Zoo’s reptile house. As he considered the snakes behind the glass, he asked his daughter a simple silly question…
“What would a snake put in a peanut butter and jelly sandwich?”
Slightly disgusted she responded, ‘a mouse’ and so began this books journey.
With this question in mind, adding a little rhythm and rhyme, one line evolved into to two, then three, then four, and many many more. Eventually, a series of stanzas were compiled and a fun and exciting children’s book for kids 3 to 8 years old was born.
James’ primary goal is to inspire children to continue to be silly, creative, and curious with fun rhymes and vibrant art.
