Apocalypse Thoughts (The Pox Series Book 5) by Kendra Griffin – Review by Megan Brasington

Apocalypse ThoughtsApocalypse Thoughts by Kendra Griffin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I didn’t know what I was expecting when I dove into this book but I wasn’t expecting to fall in love so quickly. I am sister to 6 siblings as well as lots of cousins who are like my siblings and I know how the interactions can go. Kella and Hucks Interactions felt as if I were watching (reading) my own. I didn’t expect to truly love the “world” you know it’s the apocalypse what’s there to love lol but it was just set and described so perfectly. I found myself rereading certain descriptions and interactions over again just to get a better sense. It’s a weird read in a way that the pandemic has affected us but not triggering to me at least. I highly recommend setting some time away and reading this all in one go.

Adorable, Magic, love, Spicy, AND a good story? YES YES YES and YES! I had no clue there were other books like this I read this story so fast I dove right back in to reread this and discovered things that I had somehow missed. It is a light read however the way that the author describes everything makes you think she’s getting up for a few books, again had NOOO idea this was a 5/5 book. I look forward to reading this again as well as her other books.

I’ve been on a holiday book kick these past months and this book has been one of my favorites. Amber is so funny and relatable. especially if Christmas isn’t your favorite. Gio is the Grandson of a local Italian store owner who is everyone’s Nona. Gio is a total heartthrob and from the moment he was introduced I was hooked. I highly recommend this novella. Curl up in a cozy blanket by the fireplace with some hot cocoa and crack open this wonder winter love story.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I don’t normally go for anything but Romance book, sure I enjoy super natural type twist but to catch my attention most of the time there needs to be a love connection. I was hooked from the first page, not many people can world build so much and not overwhelm a reader within the first sentences of a book. But boy did this author Hit it out of the park Not to give away all the secrets but the supernatural and Native American legends and lore had my mind racing to find answers. If you want a change from the normal books you read I highly highly recommend this book.

A Sweet ChristmasA Sweet Christmas by Nicole Richard
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love books like this! A holiday love story where one is a baker and the other stumbles Into their shop and it’s almost love at first sight. Thea is a baker in Washington and Ben is a sports writer who almost instantly falls for each other. This book was spicier than I thought it would be and oh mama was it a good burn if you know what I mean. Wasn’t overdone and thought it was very tasteful. If you want a quick read to get you into the holiday mood I really recommend it.

This book gave me so much self care inspiration. Rituals and meditation all basically root down to knowing yourself and your body. This book is no exception, it helps you realize “a cheesy as it sounds” the magic is within. You are only as powerful and strong as you believe and with practice and self care and love it will help your Pagan beliefs and magic grow.

I wasn’t sure about Caspian at first, like most I like a bad boy. But something about a spoiled brat bad boy who turns out to be a sweetheart gets me every time. I ran through this book while recovering from my booster shot and let me tell you my eyes were burning from me fighting to finish this book as soon as possible. I wasn’t totally digging Paisley’s vibe in the beginning but I warmed up to her fast.

Christmas Cookies on a Cruise Ship (The Perfect Pairing Series Book 1) by Parker Fairchild – Review by Megan Brasington

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Need a holiday pick me up? This book is the perfect thing to get you into the somewhat nontraditional Christmas mood. It took me until about chapter 2 to be completely obsessed and finish the book in one sitting. Jace is a typical hot super-smart navy seal and Olivia was a typical little sister (even though she’s a twin) having several sisters I know what it’s like to be overshadowed throughout life. Olivia and Jace are so adorable and honestly, I’d love to see this book turned into a short-made for tv series for a hallmark or even a hallmark movie. Olivia needed to believe in Christmas magic to make her dreams come true and honestly so adorable.

The Groomsman (Unexpected Series – Book 2) by Marina Hanna – Review by Megan Brasington

The GroomsmanThe Groomsman by Marina Hanna
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What can I say other than “OH MY GOD!” wow this book was super hot and steamy. As far as the story goes I really enjoyed that Lauren wasn’t waiting for a man to save her. She stood up for herself and made sure that her concerns were heard and most of the time met. Something about a powerful man in a suit just makes all the ladies come undone. I mean hello have you seen Tom Hiddleston? ANYWAYS the story was cute and to the point which I loved. Would love to read more quick books like this, I do love continued stories however I have a soft spot for short one-book stories where they leave your mind racing for more of the story.

Ok let’s talk about how much I loved this book. I read this over a few days where work was so hectic, escaping to a fall and winter scene scape where there were giant families that mirror my own was much welcome. I fell in love with both the main characters right away. Liberty being the youngest and how her family acted towards her was spot on, myself being the middle child I totally get it. This book had me warm and fuzzy and ready for the holidays. I had no idea it was a stand alone book that’s part of a series I can’t wait to read the rest of the books.

Check In (Bobbins Sisters Series Book 2) by Debra Parmley – Review by Megan Brasington

Check InCheck In by Debra Parmley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

’d like to start off by saying I work at a financial institution and when I discovered this book I was super interested. I wondered how the robbery would be explained and if it felt real or like a fake robbery you see on tv. The robbery was tastefully explained and not usually how they go but it was heavily implied that the robbers were not sober which would lead to them not thinking about their actions. I really enjoyed how each character was introduced and described. Hearing from both Len and Leanns Inner voice mail was a great way to explain both of their past trauma. Not going heavy into detail but giving little nuggets or Information so that their actions and thoughts came together. I read this entire book on my hour lunch at work and it made me feel like I needed to pick up the rest of their series immediately.. I mean who needs to clock and back into work when they have a lovely story to read?

Rock Me To The Top (Gracefall: Vicious Love Tour) by Victoria Zak – Review by Megan Brasington

Rock Me To The Top (Gracefall: Vicious Love Tour Book One)Rock Me To The Top by Victoria Zak
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I know I’m not the only one who fantasizes about being a rock star’s friend and low-key girlfriend. I’ve always had a thing for those who play in bands and something about a man who plays in a rock band… sign me up and Joe is no exception. I’m a sucker for the play on music and how everything comes down to being musically related down to the face that melody’s dad taught Joe what he knows. I myself have married my best friend after years of friendship I get it and the story really moved me. I would have loved to read more of their “friendship” Interactions before they got together but I sure ain’t complaining. I really did enjoy this book and it took me only a day to finish it as I REALLY wanted to know how everyone ended up.

If you love Nicholas sparks you are not going to want to miss this. Set in Whitley, Georgia the descriptions of the town scream out southern sweet romance. It may have been the October air here in my own hometown but I just snuggled up with a blanket and my kindle and time-traveled to and from present-day and 1947 and I didn’t want to come back to 2021. Katherine and Philip were destined to be together and nothing was going to stop them. The book alone is an incredible read and I already have the 2nd book in my Amazon cart just waiting to buy it the day it comes out! If you adore classic romance mixes with time travel you are in for a real treat.

Alena is one of my new favorite “people”, whoever feels understood in high school? Certainly not me and certainly not Alena. I love love LOVED the way Tricia explains the world and am a big fan of how she world builds. I am an avid reader and DnD player, which makes me a sucker for beautifully described people and places, and this book really kept my mind going even when struggling through a long work week. I cannot wait to read more in the series.

Why We Don’t Die in Dreams: Book 1 by Debbie Zello – Review by Megan Brasington

What the heck. Wow-what a page-turning thriller! I don’t usually crime books but sprinkle some romance and a super good-looking detective and I’m hooked. Not to give away the book but the first change messed me up, I haven’t stopped reading and gone to bed mad since the last Harry Potter book when I was a kid. I came back to the book the following night and I’m so glad I did but I was kept on my toes, to say the least. The characters were beautifully presented and described. I can’t wait to read the second book I hope the author keeps writing more of this story.

Dating the It Guy by Krysten Lindsay Hager – Review by Megan Brasington

Dating the It GuyDating the It Guy by Krysten Lindsay Hager
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book took me back to what it felt like to be in high school. It reminded me a lot the quizila fanfic type of stories I would read in my preteen days. It’s a true young adult novel where alot of books these days with the same rating are more geared towards young adults in their early 20’s or super late teens. I wasn’t overly thrilled or attached with any particular character but I did enjoy being transported back to a simpler time where homework, boys and family issues were my only worries. If you want to time travel back to your youth and have a lighthearted read I’d go for it.

A Natural Passion by Tammy Mannersly – Review by Megan Brasington

A Natural PassionA Natural Passion by Tammy Mannersly
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

My only complaint is that this book is too short! I found myself falling in love with Dylan the moment he was introduced and then it was this all took place in Australia and he immediately turned into a Hemsworth brother in my mind. I really enjoyed that it was light-hearted and still gave me butterflies sometimes romantic scenes don’t have to be extremely explicit. Just a little hint of cuteness can leave the mind wandering off to explore what the reader wants to happen. I would recommend this as a quick read while on lunch at work and are in desperate need of an escape. This book will have you traveling off to Australia to save the sea turtles and forgetting your normal day-to-day life. I can’t wait to reread it.

Do you like adorable easy to fall In love with characters? How about a straight-to-the-point romance book with beautifully described characters and scenes? If you answered no to anyone these questions do you even read bro? This book it perfect for a read while on a trip, commute to work, or just good old-fashioned fun! I really enjoyed reading this book while I was riding my Peloton on a scenic Australia ride (read the book you’ll get it) with the way Ms.Mannersly describes the scenery I honestly felt like I was there. Would recommend over and over

HOLD ME FOREVER (HERON HARBOR Book 3) by LEA NOLAN – Review by Megan Brasington

Hold Me ForeverHold Me Forever by Lea Nolan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Coming in on book 3 of the series I was nervous. But I was told it was a stand-alone romance book. I’m a hopeless romantic and a sucker for cute love stories. The book went as I expected with a ton of use twists and turns with a hint of mystery. Lark and Hunter are adorable together and I love the “old love finds its way to reignite”. The characters were so well described and no detail was spared, even the simple side characters you fell in love with. I loved the sister’s interactions, I myself have 5 sisters and could easily see their comments between each other being a real conversation with my sisters. This book was a light read, it’ll give you butterflies and make your soul warm.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I’m a baker and an avid romance reader. Total sucker for a cute romance story. Having lost a parent to cancer and knowing the struggles of carrying on a legacy I get what Elle was when she was just going through the motions of each day. The cute baking references mixed in with the magic of NYC almost gave me a Disney’s Enchanted vibe. If you need a cute and feel-good book to read on a trip or a beach day I highly recommend it. There are some dark spots in the book that I feel I should mention, if loss or taking care of a sick loved one is a trigger id proceed with caution, however, it’s an adorable book.

Lines by Leon: Poems, Prose, and PicturesLines by Leon: Poems, Prose, and Pictures by Leon Stevens
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I’m trying to rack my brain around when was the last time I picked up a book a poems that I wasn’t forced to read in school. How did I forget that I enjoyed them so much? Lines by Leon felt like I was reading someone’s true organic thoughts. I’m not going to line I reread some lines over and over just to truly take in what they were saying. This isn’t a happy love sick book of poems this is a raw emotion, tell us like it really is boom of poems. As an adult who struggles with my own demons and went to school for psychology to better understand my inner workings I want more on the Author and found myself scanning the internet for more of their words to digest. I loved the little drawings that accompanied the words, it was like peering even more in-depth into the authors brain.

I have to say I have no idea what I was expecting when I started this book. I wanted a little romance mixed with an interesting story, I’m a avid romantic type of reader and I’m sick of the same story line where you can tell where it’s going. But this book I was like “ omg I can’t wait to see what happens” I took a trip to Disneyland while reading this and I actually prayed for long lines so I could finish a chapter! The story was so well written and little sprinkles of traditional romance novel themes, danger and mystery was perfect, I would highly recommend!
