Priscida Finds Greatness by Constance Mays – Review by Michelle Downing

Priscida Finds Greatness: In Herself and in OthersPriscida Finds Greatness: In Herself and in Others by Constance Mays

This was a cute book to teach that greatness comes from your actions, not from how much money you have or how popular you are. It could have used more pictures for the intended age group. But it was a cute book and would be a hit with children that love cats.

Strega – Magic: The Spirit Never Dies by Lynne Russell – Review by Michelle Downing

This book started off kind of slow, it was interesting, but slow. But as I got further in I was drawn in more and didn’t want to put it down. A bit of feminism, but not so much that it turned me away from reading it. I would actually love to read a second book to this series to see where life took Annie.

This book was a lot of fun to read. Lee’s ability to go into the “liminal” realm was different to what I generally come across. There was a lot of action and was not dull. I love a good female lead.

I really enjoyed this book and getting an ending to Kat and Phillip’s love through time and space. It was really sweet and wasn’t quite the ending I expected. This duet was a nice set of easy to read romances that drew me in.

Love's Refrain (The Stardust Duet, #1)Love’s Refrain by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was an incredibly sweet story of love, music, and time travel. I really loved how the author mixed the old with the new. When Swinging on a Star was mentioned, I was overjoyed as that was a favorite song of my grandmother, and it still pops in my head randomly. Overall, I am really glad I read this book. It was a sweet, easy read.

This book was absolutely amazing! When choosing to read this book, it sounded promising, and I figured I’d enjoy it. I wasn’t prepared to love it as much as I did. The story was well written, it had some twists that I wasn’t fully expecting, the characters were witty and fun to read. The remainder of this series is definitely in my TBR list.

Ashes of Aldyr (The Obscured Throne Trilogy Book 1) by Russell Archey – Review by Michelle Downing

Ashes of Aldyr (The Obscured Thorne Trilogy Book 1)Ashes of Aldyr by Russell Archey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I enjoyed this book way more than I realized I would, it’s a lot different than what I normally read, so I wasn’t sure how much is enjoy it. Archery wove together a collection of tales from different areas of the world Alda, combining them to build a view of the darkness spreading through their entire world. I’m truly looking forward to the next book of the trilogy and hoping to see the fates of several characters.

Notebook Mysteries ~ Decisions and Possibilities by Kimberly Mullins – Review by Michelle Downing

Decisions and Possibilities (Notebook Mysteries #2)Decisions and Possibilities by Kimberly Mullins
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Overall, I enjoyed this story. Emma was an interesting character that fought for women’s rights in a time when we didn’t have them. There were really strange interruptions by the “narrator” that really didn’t flow into the story and really felt pointless. I did enjoy Emma’s adventures and many of the characters, but the story just jumped around a little too much.

This was an adorably, sweet book. The book was well written and flowed well. It was a super easy read. The author didn’t drag out details or continuously have the characters falling back on a bad experience. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

Talisman has wrote another amazing part to the Journeys Through series. I love the connections between each character to show that everything is connected. The characters are well developed and each is incredible to read about on their own journeys. I can’t wait for book 3.

Return to Alpha by Wesley Britton – Review by Michelle Downing

Dystopian Sci-Fi
This was a very interesting story. I have recently been a big fan of dystopian books, as we’re at a point in this world where everything feels so unsure. Add in some Sci-Fi, Stargate-ish stuff and you’ve got me hooked.
I enjoyed the different aspects of the multiverse used in this book. I felt the characters were well written, though I would have liked to know more about some of the secondary characters. The story was mostly fast paced, a little wordy at unnecessary times.
I hadn’t realized this was a spin-off series, but I will be checking out that series. I hope this series will be continued, as I feel the future of these characters could be interesting to read.

I read this book in less than a day. I absolutely loved it and couldn’t put it down. The sister dynamic between Alex and Zoey was very realistic and very sweet. Though I wasn’t surprised about who the villian was, it was well written. This was an excellent, clean, easy read that I truly enjoyed. I can’t wait for the next installment.

Journeys Through SpaceTime (Journeys Through Book 1) by James Talisman – Review by Michelle Downing

Journeys Through SpaceTimeJourneys Through SpaceTime by James Talisman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

As a huge fan of sci-fi, I really loves this book. Set between multiple characters, it can be hard to follow at times and to find the major connection between them. The end product was incredible and makes those connections apparent. I took one star off because I felt there could have been less characters or the flow between them could have been better. I also was thrown by the fact that very few contractions were used, making the dialogue kind of stunted. Overall I really did enjoy this book and am looking forward to reading the next installment now that I know the connections.
