I loved Savage Truth by Isla Vaughn so I immediately hopped on Brutal Days to continue the Hidden Valley Elite series. Skylar and Damon’s complicated and yet incredibly steamy story, just reels you right in and takes you on an emotional rollercoaster. Although Gia is the one who wants Damon and has her friend Skylar to hook her up, Skylar can’t help but be captivated by the cocky son of a gun Elite football player. Damon has zero interest in Gia but can’t get Skylar out of his mind. The two play a dangerous game and the web of lies continues to grow. It has all the angst and heat you can imagine! Give it a try!

Lap Baby was the first book I have read by this author. I was intrigued as it reminded me of a story my mom told me about a local plane crash when she was a kid (she wasn’t on the flight, but the plane crashed blocks away from her childhood home). Growing up just blocks away from this devastating spot myself, I drive by the location regularly.

Lap Baby follows four survivors of a horrific plane crash that change every single one of their lives. Pulls at every single heart string and you feel like you are right there with them, in those fields of emotions. Love, loss, pain, redemption, healing….it’s an emotional ride. One I am very grateful to have taken.

The bully romance, enemies to lovers trope gets me Every. Single. Time. It actually took me awhile to really get into this trope. But holy cow, did Riley and Cole’s story just make me crave more and more. This book was the perfect angst, conflicting, mysterious, keep you at the edge of your seat, type of intensity that I love. You definitely want to start at the beginning of the serious to get the whole backstory of these two. Who were drawn to each other so intensely from the get go. I cannot wait to see what the rest of the series holds!

Today, at my scouts meeting, I had a long talk with a Scout about bravery. We talked about how we can still feel scared and yet still be brave. I immediately thought of this book and we talked about all types of forms of bravery. It was definitely a core moment for me and I loved hearing it all from an amazing 11 year old.

I love finding books that I can share with my children, and this book did not disappoint. I found myself sharing snippets of the stories with other kids in my family and now in Scout group. My daughter and I love reading together before bed and we tried to relish this book as much as possible. I know we will revisit it again.
