Moonlight Drive is a real rollercoaster ride of a book that offers the reader a glimpse into the lives of rock stars. There were a lot of tragic events that take place throughout the book, that may be inappropriate for less mature readers. I found this book entertaining and enlightening on the experiences that musicians must deal with as they navigate the difficulties of stardom. When Dani and Nick meet as children it is such a beautiful start to something so special, it goes beyond a normal friendship. They are there for one another at a time in their childhoods when they are feeling lost and hiding from their dysfunctional family lives. As they reconnect in their adulthood, Nick now Nicki Quick the bass guitarist for a big rock band, and Dani someone who appears on their tour as a groupie. Nicki feels a deep connection to Dani but can’t put his finger on why he feels like he knows her. Dani keeps their past hidden, seeing that Nick who she remembered from her childhood, has changed drastically. As these two come and go throughout their adult lives, they always feel this pull to one another, no matter where they are in their lives or who they may be with. Dani decides one day that it’s time for her to seek out her future and tries to move on. Can Dani and Nick let go of their past and move on or will their bond continue to bring them back to one another? This is an amazing book to read, it does have a lot of adult content, so beware it is not for younger readers, and it does cover a lot of deep issues that are so important to be aware of. I think that the author did an amazing job introducing issues that should be discussed, and she puts a huge focus on reaching out and getting help, and the importance of having close friends and family to be there for you.
