I went into this not knowing it was part of a series, but it still was a good stand alone story. Colin shows up to work early one morning only to discover his boss has been murdered, and Colin immediately becomes number one suspect. Luckily his sister Kathleen, and Daniel the coroner, believe he is innocent and they set out to find the real culprit. Of course this story happened before a DNA database or anything was made to help them, so it was tricky and provided many twists in the story. I’m not usually drawn to historic fiction like this was, but I do love a good mystery, and was pleasantly surprised by this one. It was a great cozy mystery that had me hooked from the very beginning and I’ll definitely be picking up the first book as well as anything else put out by this author.

Oh my gosh this giver is one of those you can just climb into and be transported in time 😉

So Colin arrives the office a little early so that he can get work and get into the boss’s good graces because he was taken to task for looking unkept after a night in the saloon 🙈so he still looks a mess 🤣 but instead of finding the kar work he needed he cones across his boss , dead , in his office 🙈

Look the man wasn’t very likeable and there are many suspects but poor Colin in the main suspect at the moment fortunately Daniel , the coroner believes he’s innocent as does his sister Kathleen so there’s that at least 😉

Anyhoo Daniel and Kathleen are out to prove Colin’s innocence and things do get a little hairy and you keep second guessing yourself as to who really is guilty and yes there’s a dash of romance to take the edge off 😊

A relaxing and fun read ! I love being an armchair sleuth 😉

Colin was on the brink of losing his job, but the last thing he expected was to find his boss deceased. The lawyer was disliked by just about everybody in town so it’s going to be hard to prove who committed the crime. Colin’s sister is determined to investigate in spite of Daniel’s wishes. While she knows her brother is no angel, neither she nor her boyfriend believe he is guilty. Daniel feels like all the puzzle pieces are coming together, but there is one that is elusive. He is determined to figure out what the missing piece is before things get worse. Will the culprit be found or will they go on to commit another crime? This was a fairly fast place book and the author draws you in from the beginning. You don’t necessarily have to read book one in order to follow along with this one, however, it might give a little bit of a better understanding of the characters.

I picked this book up without realizing it was part of a series, but I feel like I still had a wonderful experience without the background. I will say that after reading this one that I absolutely must pick up the first because I loved it! The author has a unique way of subtly grabbing your attention and the next thing you know you’re up in the wee hours of the morning devouring the book. Within the first chapter I was hooked and lost out on sleep to finish (worth it)! The characters feel relatable and well developed, and the flow of the story had a very natural progression. Although this is the first book I’ve read by this author, I am hoping to pick up many more by them. If you love cozy mysteries that will keep you on your toes until the end, look no further because this is your next read!

This is a series that I have enjoyed so far, even though this is only the second book. The author keeps you guessing with what will happen next! It brings a bit of nostalgia with the historical aspect and how they ever did any kind of police/detective work prior to DNA and all the technologies of today.

This could be read as a standalone but I always recommend having the context of previous books in a series to have a full comprehensive of all the players involved.

Having read and enjoyed the previous book in this series I was looking forward to being back with coroner’s assistant Daniel O’Halleran, and I was not disappointed. This is an enjoyable and engaging historical crime novel with plenty of drama and suspense which had me hooked throughout. Colin Brissedon arrives at work to find that his new boss, who had threatened to fire him, has been murdered and he then becomes the prime suspect. However, his sister Kathleen does not believe her brother is capable of murder and neither does Daniel, but the coroner’s assistant will need evidence. During his investigation Daniel learns that the victim, a prominent attorney was not very well liked and more than one person would have a reason for killing him. Meanwhile, Kathleen decides to conduct her own investigation against Daniel’s wishes and he is worried for her safety. Daniel needs to find the integral clue that will help him solve the mystery, if he doesn’t then the murderer will be free to kill again. Once again the characters and the setting were brought vividly to life by the descriptive narrative, making me feel immersed in the story.

Murder on West Main is Book Two in the South Shore Mystery Series. It is a historical cozy mystery set in a small town in the early 1900’s. This book will grab you from the first few pages as the main character, Colin, is implicated in the murder of his boss. All clues, including an earlier altercation with his boss and his fingerprints on the body seem to point to him as the prime suspect. However, Colin’s sister Kathleen, and the local coroner’s assistant, Daniel, have their doubts as to his guilt so his sister Kathleen decides to conduct her own investigation. As she delves into the clues things quickly take a dark and dangerous turn. It is soon discovered that Colin’s boss was not a popular man, and the list of suspects grow. This book had strong characters, a great storyline, an amazing book cover and was packed full of crime, drama, action, suspense, mystery, murder, and old-fashioned sleuthing.

This is the second book in the South Shore Mystery Series. It is the first book that I have read however I will be going back to read the first book as I have enjoyed this so much. This is a really interesting cosy historical mystery. The author has done an incredible job with the research which really brings this story to life and transports the reader to the time period.
This story is full of secrets and twists and turns that will keep you guessing who is the actually murderer.

When Colin finds his boss dead one morning there is loads of evidence pointing to his guilt. He was about to be fired, there were disagreements heard by his colleagues. With the evidence pointing to his guilt he is arrested.n
Now it’s a race against time for Daniel, the villages assistant coroner and Colin’s sister Kathleen to work together to prove his innocence. Who is responsible for the death of Colin’s boss? Did Colin do it in a drunken rage? And if it wasn’t him then who was it and what secrets will be uncovered when the killer is revealed.
I really enjoyed this story and I can’t wait to read more in the future.

Murder on West Main is the second book in the A South Shore Mystery series. I had read the first book, but it had been a while since I had read it. I wasn’t sure if I would be lost or if I should have reread the previous book. Luckily, this can be read and enjoyed as a standalone book. Daniel O’Halleran, the coroner’s assistant, has stumbled into a whodunit. Colin looks like the guilty party in his boss’s death, but it soon shows how unpopular his boss is with everyone. Daniel believes Colin, but many don’t have the same feelings about the matter. Can Daniel find the real culprit?
This is a good mystery that keeps you reading, wanting to know all the answers. I enjoyed the characters and how they developed over the course of the book. I also enjoyed that the story kept me reading and not wanting to put the book down. Many times in thrillers and mysteries, it becomes obvious what is going on. I look forward to reading more in this series and from this author in the future.

Murder on West Main (A South Shore Mystery) by I.M. Foster. This is the second book in South Shore Mystery Series and while it can be read as a standalone it does have some things in it that are in the first book that would be better understood if you read them in order. This is a cozy mystery with lots of twists and turns that will keep you guessing til the end. When Daniel the local coroner has to find out who killed Zeke its not going to be easy because to put it bluntly no one really liked him. When they arrest Colin who is Zeke’s new employee Daniel doesn’t think he’s guilty. Along with his Kathleen his good friend and his sister Isabelle they begin to try to follow the clues to solve this murder. Daniel doesn’t necessarily want their help and he is trying to solve the murder without them. Will he be able to keep his “helper’s” out of it and solve this murder before someone else becomes a victim? Read this cozy mystery to find out!

This is the second book in the series. I wouldn’t say you absolutely need to read the first one before reading this one, but there are some events mentioned I assume are from the first book. I picked up on things fairly quickly and didn’t feel lost. That said, reading the first book may give you a more complete reading experience.
The way the author writes immediately draws you in and makes you feel like you are right in the scene with the characters. I quickly found myself lost in the pages.
Plenty of twists and turns keep the mystery going.
Overall, a great read!

Even being the second book in the series, this book worked just fine as a standalone. There were a few mentionings of things that had happened in the previous book but not to the point where you are confused. More intrigued than anything.
The author does a great time taking you back to a time before cell phones, before television, before cameras and DNA. When the coroner does a lot of the detective work and the pharmacist helps verify things. Finger printing is new, and the comment about how fast vehicles were going made me giggle.
There’s enough romance to notice that some sparks are flying, but not enough to distract you from the mystery of it all.
I truly enjoyed this book and definitely recommend it. I’ll be going back and reading the 1st book as I eagerly await more in this series.

I wasn’t familiar with this book, author or series when I started reading so I was pleasantly surprised to find this was a historical story, as well as being a mystery. I thought this book was a brilliant mystery story. I loved watching it all play out and the characters piece everything together. I was right there with them trying to figure out what had happened and who was responsible.
The way the author has created this story, weaving it all together, is so well done. It had me pulled in from the start and I couldn’t stop myself from reading the book to find out what was going on. Murder on West Main is the 2nd book in the South Shore Mystery series, but it can be read as a stand alone. The book takes place in the early 1900s, following Daniel O’Halleran as he tries to solve a murder. Things are much different in that day and age- there was no DNA, cameras, limited knowledge on finger prints, limited police. Daniel is a doctor, and a coroner assistant, and is one of the main investigators for the crime. Kathleen Brissedon is a close friend of Daniel, as well as the sister of the first suspect. She helps him investigate to help clear her brother’s name, spend time with Daniel, and because she is pretty good at it. It is unheard of for women to investigate, so she cannot help in any official capacity. The book was a pretty good mystery and maintained my interest throughout. I did not figure out who the murderer was until right before it was revealed, and I thought the author did a good job of building up the story and characters. I would be interested to read more in the series.

This was a great mystery and kept me interested until the end! Once Colin’s boss is found murdered he becomes the prime suspect. Between the assistant coroner and his sister they do not feel he actually committed the crime. There are unlimited suspects since his boss was not liked by many, which just makes it harder to find the true suspect. It is up to the trio to find out who really killed his boss to clear Colin’s name. This mystery was full of twists and will keep you reading late into the night! Such a great series!

Murder on West Main was an amazing murder mystery. Daniel O’Halleran is on the case to discover who was behind the murder. It is no easy task, due to the large number of people that despised the murder victim, so there is a never-ending list of suspects is seems! Due to the incredible writing and storytelling, I was guessing the killer the whole time. It was nearly impossible to put the book down with the great cast of characters. I loved that the story was historically accurate! This made it even easier to get into the tale that was being spun. The interactions of the people in the story are much more proper, especially when it comes to the ladies’ interests, though this does not eliminate the gossip around town. I highly recommend reading Murder on West Main and I can’t wait to read more by I.M. Foster.

Murder on West Main is the second instalment in the historical South Shore Mystery series set in the early 1900’s. IM as usual does a good job of incorporating the history of the time into the story.
What started out as a normal day turned out to be anything but!
We once again find ourselves embroiled in this cosy mystery along with coroner’s physician, Daniel in a murder investigation where the victim is an evil and horrid person. Things hot up when he tries to piece it all together to save an innocent man or is he?
Kathleen decides to insert herself smack dang in the middle of everything even when the consequences could be fatal. The story definitely keeps you on your toes as you navigate through the clues. Even though I pieced it together before the big reveal I still really enjoyed this tale.
Murder on West Main is well written, intriguing, and full of suspense. There is a few twisty turns, mystery, danger, murder, mayhem, angst, and drama. All of that makes for an engaging read and have you immersed in the story and the pages turning.
If you like cosy mysteries, then give Murder on West Main a go.

Murder on West Main by I.M. Foster is a well written mystery that will keep you entertained from the first page until the last page! This is my first book by this author, and I was not one bit disappointed!! This mystery is set during the summertime when a young man named Colin finds himself part of a murder mystery and unfortunately for him…. all fingers are pointing to him as being the main suspect. Lucky for Colin, his sister Kathleen doesn’t think that her brother could be a murderer and she is set to find out who the true suspect is. We are also introduced to Daniel, the town’s coroner and from Daniel’s findings after inspecting the body in question, he doesn’t think Colin is the murderer either. Now Daniel is on a mission to find who could have done such a thing, but he’s having a hard time finding a murderer because as it turns out, our deceased gentleman wasn’t a very liked person in town. Kathleen and Daniel have their work cut out for them to figure out who could have done such a thing! I.M. Foster has a great way of telling the story with great detail! I felt like I was in the story trying to figure out the murder mystery with Kathleen and Daniel! It was very hard for me to put down this page turner once I started reading it! I hope that you will pick up a copy and find out for yourself if the mystery is solved or if Colin continues to be blamed for the murder! I look forward to reading more books by I.M. Foster!
