I enjoyed this book immensely. It is about a person’s decision to change the past to save the lives of loved ones and the consequences that happen because of this decision. The characters are written so very well that I loved them. This is my first book by this author but will not be my last!!

What lengths would you go to in order to save those you love? Would you change history to bring them back? Well, that’s exactly what Bernard does- the loss of his family weighing heavily on his soul, Bernard changes history, which comes with devastating consequences. He has a chance to make things right- to restore the original timeline. And so, the quest begins….. Return of the Elf Lord is the first book in the Kingdom of the Elf Lords series by Heidi Vanlandingham. It is a wonderfully original mix of fantasy, the paranormal, Norse mythology, elves, magic, action, romance, drama, emotion, adventure, loss/sadness, responsibility, and superb world building….. and it turned out to be every bit as good as I hoped it would be. This is a wonderful start to a new series that I can’t wait to return to asap, with ‘The Elf Lords Curse” (Book #2)- coming soon I hope…. Happy Reading!

This is a good fantasy story. I did struggle with the beginning since there are a ton of new characters met during that time. It was a bit confusing going back and forth. After that the story really started to take shape. I was drawn into their plight and wondered where and what would happen next. This is a good story that drew me in with the characters that didnt want to let go.

This is an amazing story. It is so well thought our and developed. The storyline was complex and interesting and pulled you straight in right from the start. I was intrigued by what was going to happen. I thought the characters fit the story really well. They added a depth to the storyline. I loved how the book seemed to have a bit of everything. This is the first book that o have read by this author and I can definitely say it won’t be my last.

This is a wonderfully written fantasy story by a new author to me. I was intrigued by the book cover and the title which was reminiscent to me of “Lord of the Rings”. It wasn’t quite what I was expecting, but I’m glad that I decided to read this story. I couldn’t put it down! I am especially fond of Norse mythology, and this delivered just that. She did a fabulous job with her mythology knowledge built into a World War II era. There is a lot of romance mixed into the action and history, but her weaving of the information throughout the book was perfect. I highly recommend this book to anyone with a penchant for fantasy, action, and romance. You won’t be disappointed.

I really enjoyed this fantasy adventure. The author does an amazing job with her characters making them seem real as well as the world they live in. I like the outline of people wanting to change history and the consequences of doing so. We all at some point wish we could change things that have happened in the past but this book really makes you think of the effect on the present.
Bernard was a soldier after losing his parents and the his wife and children to the war he is desperate to rewrite history and save them. Little does he realise what changing history and saving his family does to the present day of the world.
Alva has also lost people in her life. After losing her father she became estranged from her mother after she refuses to follow their ancient ways. This refuses leads her into trouble and with her partner starting the count down to the end of all worlds she is now in a race against time to save everything world.
Alva joins up with Bernard and together with the goddess Freyja and other helpers then set out on a mission to put history back in place and to stop the world’s from ending. The question is will the do it in time or is the world as they know it doomed.

A well written fantasy with detailed world building. A slow lead up resulting in lots of action, romance, fantasy and suspense to keep you hooked. I liked all the characters and found myself easily immersed in their story. This is the first book that I have read by this author, and I will definitely be looking into her others.

I loved this book! The beginning really drew me in and got me excited to read the rest. I didn’t realize that this book was a standalone from another series- so I get to enjoy reading more from this world. The main characters: Bernard and Alva are both so interesting and charming and show such personal growth throughout the story. I love fantasies and mythology and this book really hits the mark. This is a fantastic book my friends- and deserves a read. (:

This is my first time reading this author, but this book was very recommended. This story excited the senses and took my imagination into overdrive. This storyline took place in the most vivid and descriptive fantasy world, and every character was unique.
Fantasy, mythology, magic, and romance factor into the themes of this book. The MC Bernard and Alva have each chosen to test fate. Selfless and intelligent individuals who’s desperation and devastation tipped the scales. Bernard lost his entire family and in desperation altered time attempting to bring them back. Alva’s partner has initiated a sequence of events causing a worldly demise, and her failure to stop him and instead help him sets a moral divide on her end, as well as forces her to step in and save her realm.
Together they are on a quest to right the wrongs and save the 9 realms.

Wanting to save his family from death, Bernard tries to change their fates, but instead he changes history and almost destroys the world in the process.
Similarly, Alva, a Huldra, tries to prevent her partner from starting the end of the world, after the countdown is started.
Alva and Bernard join forces to stop the world from ending, but the real question becomes what will it cost them.
This book was a good book, and the author and series show great promise. I can’t wait to see where it goes from here.

What would you do for love? Bernard is a solider who lost his entire family at Pearl Harbor. Bernard travels back to alter history, saving his family; but, the consequences are so dire they may have begun Ragnarok. Given one chance to set things right, Bernard works with his fellow solider and partner, Alva, to do just that. Yet as they do someone is doing all they can to make them unsuccessful. Will the two be able to figure out who it is? Will they be able to work together to save the nine realms?
I really enjoyed this book. It had a little bit of everything. Vanlandingham does an amazing job with her world building as well as the dynamics of her characters. This is the first book of hers that I have read but I will be going back to read her previous books while patiently waiting to see what comes next. Definitely worth the read.

~Fantastical Romance will have you reading through the night~
A read I picked up last week to be honest for the cover (I’m a sucker for good covers!!!) There were a number of other good reviews as well as a very intriguing synopsis. What drew me in though was the characters development. They stand alone really well on their own, but the author does a phenomenal job of bringing them together in a way that is truly exceptional.
This is typically my favorite genre to read; fantasy, romance, a little bit of darkness. What I haven’t read before is the tinge of history you get from this. I have to say it drew me in the way “Vikings” or “The Last Kingdom” did…such a good presentation it had me actually interested in Mythology and the historical context around the storyline.
Overall a great, straightforward read. If you are on the fence it has just the right amount of uniqueness and originality to make you begging for more.

This is such a great blend of romance, action, and fantasy. I was drawn into the magical world that the author creates from the very first page. I couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next! I really enjoyed the Norse mythology that was woven throughout. Bernard and Alva are drawn together but something is holding each of them back. They must work together if there’s any hope of saving the Nine Realms. This book is a real page turner that will have you captivated and on the edge of your seat the entire team.

Bernard and Alva are both brave, intelligent, and troubled heroes, who have lost their families and live their lives far from where they started. Bernard lost his parents and guardians long ago, and his wife and children at Pearl Harbour. Alva’s father died recently, and she is estranged from her mother, the queen, and her sisters because she refuses the practice of killing men to draw energy. Together with the goddess Freyja and other assistants, they defend the Nine Worlds from destruction. Bernard is so gutted about the war and the loss of his family, that he attempts to change the course of history to save them – unwittingly setting into motion a cascade of unintended consequences. As they battle together to right the wrong, they’ll need to use every power and person at their disposal.
I loved these two characters, and how they grew as people through the course of the story. They are flawed, but also courageous, loyal, and and loving. The authour wrote them masterfully. Exciting story and lots of action.

This author has given us a story that is a blend of romance, fantasy, and Norse mythology. It starts off a little slow but soon gets going and entices and intrigues till the end. With a beautiful descriptive narrative, intricately woven threads, and great world-building leads to a tapestry of enjoyment. There is plenty of action, magic and emotions, desperation, sadness, happiness, and everything in between. With elves and characters of all types, this tale is one you can tell the author has put heart and soul into. This book is the first I have read by this author, and I enjoyed it immensely. I had devastating news early hours of this morning and this story was able to get me out of my head for a while. With twists and turns at every angle this is one thrilling and suspenseful tale. What would you do for love?

Resistance soldier Bernard Marchand would do anything to bring his family back from the dead, but in his desperation to change their fates, he alters history and nearly destroys the world. Faced with the consequences, he’s horrified at what he’s done. It was never supposed to be this way.
As a Huldra, Alva should have stolen her partner’s life energy, drained him to the brink of death. Instead, she went against her natural instincts and helped him win the war against a dreaded enemy. However, when he inadvertently starts the countdown to Ragnarok, Alva will have to ignore the ache in her soul as she fights to save them once again.
And that’s just the beginning…
An unknown enemy lurks just out of reach and interferes in their every effort to restore Earth’s historical timeline. But why? What is he after? Will they be able to focus long enough to save the Nine Realms, or are they doomed to the horrific reality they unwittingly unleashed?
Heidi Vanlandingham writes sweet, action-packed stories that take place in the Wild West, war-torn Europe, and otherworldly magical realms. This book and series continues to amaze me and give me all the feels on how wonderful a great series truly is. I have been invested from the beginning of book 1 and continue to love this series. I recommend starting this series from the beginning as each book continues the story of Vanessa, Raef, Grey and Aroz…but what I can say is you will not be disappointed! The story is full of action, drama with a roller coaster of emotions that keep you turning the pages. If you love paranormal romance with some sizzle and add in Greek Mythology and adventure and you have a great series of books that just makes your love of reading even more!!

You should really read this series from the start. It’s so worth it! Following Vanessa on her trials and tribulations has been quite the adventure. This series is filled with drama, romance and horrible mother in laws. I love books about Greek mythology. The author effortlessly incorporated the myth of Psyche into these books. You’ll grow to love these characters, they are wonderful. Aside from the main characters, I adore PK and Gorgonita. Although I was a little sad for this series to end, I think this book is a fitting and amazing ending to an incredible story. Review by @Anna Hirsch

I have been anxiously awaiting this book. It is the conclusion of the series and it was everything I could have hoped for. This book started off right where the last one ended and the relationship with Vanessa and her three gods gave me life. I was rooting for them since the beginning. The chemistry only grows with each book and the struggles they face are more complex. I definitely recommend this book and the entirety of the series!

This series just keeps getting better and better! Way to go out with a bang!
This is book 4 in the series and all books have lead up to this one (ah hem, that means it cannot be read as a stand alone, you HAVE to have read the others for it to all make sense!).
We of course get Vanessa having to meet the obstacles set in front of her by having to complete yet another challenge that one of the mothers of her three immortal men put her on (man am I sick and tired of those B’s.), but along the way Vanessa builds on her strength and courage, and has each of her men fighting their own battles (internal and maternal) to get to her and to help her. We see more of PK and Gorgonita, as well as Vanessa’s grandpa here, and I am ALL FOR IT. I absolutely adore Vanessa’s support system and love how they’re there for her however they can be. Note: poor Piper, just wanting his sister back.
Many comical aspects in this one to bring some levity, but the obstacles are serious. And oh, the sexual tension and smut scenes are oh so good. Loved that we get some multiple scenes as well as individual scenes (I mean this is a reverse harem, or why choose series after all).
I could go on and on about my enjoyment of this book, and the series overall, but really, just READ IT. It’s funny and quirky, with a Greek myth retelling base, why choose romance, and it’s just so good.

Oh my! So……I have read this series as a whole annnnddd let me say that I really, realllyyy love this series oh so much! It was addictive, highly kind of actually. As with all in this series. I enjoyed every minute spent reading. Sad that it ended. I loved Vanessa’s trials and accomplishments and just her story in general. She is my fave character aside from her steamy gods LOL…… ALL characters, gods included were nothing short of amazing, EVEN the dreadful monster in laws ha!! The storyline was very entertaining. Added bonus this book, well this whole SERIES packs its fair share of drama, spice, steam, romance, and oh the Greek mythology, why I love this series! 😍Really looking forward to reading more of the author’s work too 😉

This is a great read as is the entire series. If you haven’t read the other three books in this series you definitely need to in order to know what’s going on and how it got to where it is now. This book is full of action, magic, suspense, twists and turns and so much more. I am so glad that we finally got to the conclusion because it was better than I hoped. This author did an exceptional job pulling me into the story and taking me on an adventure that I didn’t want to end. I could not put this book down because I needed to know what was going to happen. I was entertained throughout and enjoyed every page of this book and the series. I highly recommend this book.

Vanessa has to travel to the highest mountain top in Tartarus to fill a box with eternal beauty for none other than the goddess of beauty herself. This being one of several trials leading up to fulfilling the prophecy of Psyche. This is NOT a standalone as it is the 4th book in the Her Three Immortals series and you definitely want to understand what’s going on. The Box continues on with great world building and enjoyable characters leading up to a perfectly wrapped up ending.
