A great second book that follows the loves of Cadence and Damien. Cadence is the best friend of Blake, the main character in book one. This was another dual point of view story and I loved it. Cadence is stuck in a job that she doesn’t really like with a boyfriend that she has had since college. Her eyes are opening and she starts to see that he isn’t the man she fell in love with but she keeps trying and hoping to bring that fun, loving boy back into her life. Cadence meets Damien, the lead singer of a rock band, when her sister Jade drags her to a show one night. Instart sparks fly with just a look but Cadence is in a relationship and therefore off limits. Damien is the lead singer of a rock band that is still trying to make it big. He is tattooed and pierced and brooding. He seems to hold everything close to him and doesn’t really open up or let anyone in. Cadence needs to choose what is going to make her happy and Damien needs to keep his family safe. This book was a page turner and I hope that there are more to come in the series!

I loved this book! I loved the characters and the conflicts and the military background. This is a second chance romance with alternating point of view chapters/sections. Blakely and Jamie were high school sweethearts until he joined the Air Force, started pulling away, and then broke off their engagement. Blakely moved on, bought a house, has her dream job at the local paper, and is dating again. She is still hurt and doesn’t understand why he left but she thinks her anger will protect her heart from feeling more. Jamie hasn’t been home in years, but he comes back for his friend’s funeral. It was a friend he grew up with, ran into again in the Air Force and became close again, and now Jamie feels responsible for his death. Jamie and Blakely are thrown together over and over and she tries to keep her distance while he tries to not show his true feelings. Jamie is hurting, he is struggling, he is closed off from everyone around him. Being home and around his friends again he starts to heal and hopes to heal the hurt he caused Blakely too.

I loved this emotional and engaging second chance romance, which kept me happily turning the pages. After her first love broke her heart Blakely was determined to have the life she dreamed of. She now has that, a great house, her dream job and the perfect boyfriend. However, when the boy who broke her heart returns Blakely has decisions to make. Jamie never planned to return home when he joined the Air force, but a last request from his best friend results in him returning. This means confronting his past and reconciling with Blakely. To complicate matters, Blakely’s promotion rests on Jamie opening up about their friend’s death. As she sees the darkness Jamie carries and begins to understand his decision to leave her behind, her anger disappears. This leaves Blakely’s heart vulnerable as she finds away to help Jamie’s heart heal from his traumas. The mix of their shared history and Jamie’s demons will either push them further apart or bring them closer together. I loved Blakely and Jamie and their chemistry came across in the story. It was an emotional read at times but an enjoyable one. I was hooked throughout and I look forward to the next book in this new series.

An enjoyable, emotional and engaging contemporary romance, with a rockstar romance theme. Cadence is stuck in a relationship with a guy who is now a stranger and in a career she didn’t want. She’s craving something, and she finds it when she comes face to face with the lead singer of Rebel Rebellion, Damien Walker. The fact that he makes it clear he doesn’t want anything to do with her just seems to make her more interested. However, it turns out that Damien also thinks Cadence is intriguing, but he has his own issues to deal with. His family is relying on him and memories from his past keep him from getting too close to anyone. Cadence manages to break through Damien’s walls and although he can’t have her, he can’t stay away. They feel like everything is trying to keep them apart but they are willing to break the rules to be together. I love the fact that it’s the music that brings Cadence and Damien together. I found them both to be likeable and relatable characters. I was pleased that this wasn’t just like every other rockstar romance. I thought it had much more depth and emotion in the storyline which kept me invested in the story.

Wow, my goodness to say I throughly enjoyed this book is a understatement. This book grabbed me and didn’t let go right from the start. This author did a wonderful job of making this book interesting and easy to relate to, for anyone who’s ever been in a bad relationship or even to anyone who is just starting to develop feelings for someone.
Cadence is so relatable at points in this book it’s like looking in a mirror, the ups and downs this girl faces with juggling her friendships long distance to trying to maintain her relationship is nothing else if not entertaining. I find myself eager to see her get riled up and angry because watching the explosions is fun. She’s witty, and funny, and quirky, while managing to have a softer vulnerable side that she doesn’t show often but when she does it’s a real treat.
Damien is on the outside, the epitome of a up and coming rockstar. But underneath his friendly, outgoing facade he’s full of emotions that he doesn’t share with anyone. He’s got a lot going on in his life and doesn’t quite know how to handle it all, which in turn just kind of shuts him down more. But thankfully throughout this book he really opens up once he meets cadence and they hit it off.
So here’s the run down, girl goes to concert with sister to see new band she loves,girls finance stays home because he’s to good for that sort of thing, girl meets hot moody rocker, guy and girl do not hit it off, but have weird attraction to one another nonetheless. Girl and guy end up seeing each other more and more, start to develop a friendship that’s sexually charged from the get go, unfortunately girl still has fiancé, whom treats her less than great a lot of the time. Girl starts to realize she deserves better and she’s unhappy and thus the story unfolds.
Though it’s definitely not as cut and dry as that, the relationships maintained and made in this book are nothing if not whole heartedly relatable. Between her and her sister and her long time home town friends to her strained relationship with her fiancé and her new budding friendship with her rockstar, I devoured every word this book had to offer. I cannot wait to read more from this author!

I cannot recommend this book enough! I was hooked from the beginning and had an extremely hard time putting it down when I had to do adult things and stuff. I laughed, I cried, I was heartbroken, I was fixed…I went through so many emotions while reading this book and I want you to experience them too! I’m a huge sucker for good character development and let me just say…Terry has outdone herself with her characters. Both MC’s are relatable but Cadence really spoke to my heart on so many levels. Cadence is stuck in a relationship with her boyfriend she met in college. It isn’t until her sister talks her into going to a local bar to see a rock group perform when she realizes she isn’t living her life but her boyfriend’s life. What she didn’t expect was a connection she felt with the lead singer of Rebel Rebellion Damien Walker who also feels a connection. The story of Cadence and Damien spoke to me in a way I didn’t expect and I read it all the way thru in one evening. The characters were very relatable and the author did a great job world building.

This book was a very quick read for me. I was able to finish it in a day. It is really well written and will have you turning pages as quickly as you can. The characters in this book are amazing and you will feel like you want to be their friends by the end of it. It is a slow burn romance with a bit of spiciness tied into it. The characters have some amazing moments with quick wit and banter. It deals with relationship issues that a lot of people commonly find themselves in and it gives hope to that situation at the end of the day. I highly recommend reading this book because it has everything you could possibly want in a romance reading. The spice level was just enough to make you blush but not enough to make you question where you should be reading this book (well at least for me). I look forward to reading more from this author. Damien and Cadence definitely fit together like a puzzle piece! The growth of their relationship was perfect!
Elijah- eff you! I did not like this guy and any time he and Cadence were together I would scream at my Kindle wanting her to leave him, even before Damien came into the picture.
Their relationship was so toxic and full of red flags that it’s easy to hate Elijah, there were absolutely no redeemable parts to him as a person or their relationship. I hated how she kept trying to get him to be the person she met/fell in love with, but that is also what made this feel so real for me since it does happen in real life, when they did finally break up though I was so happy!
I don’t normally read books like this so going into it I didn’t know how I would like it… and boy did I like it. No… LOVED it! I couldn’t put my Kindle down. This story hooked me right from the start and if it wasn’t for real life getting in the way I would have devoured this book so fast. The story is easy to get into, the characters are relatable, and even the internal pov was amazing and never boring. There are some sad parts, or at least to me they were, that made me want to jump into the book and give Damien the tightest hug.
This book is a slow burn, though, with them not getting together until chapter 22 for a while. Some twists happened and they were broken up again until chapter 32. The build-up for their first time together was so worth it though, and of course, I was screaming at my phone when Elijah came between them (again eff you, Elijah).
I give only a few books a 5-star rating, but this work of art deserves it! Watching the growth between Cadence and Damien, the personal growth of Cadence and her finding herself again after losing who she was, the relationships between friends and family, all of it was just perfection and so well written that giving it any less would be a crime.

This Amazing author has done it again with yet another emotion filled read that will keep you hooked. The characters held me completely captive again and I really wished I could reach through the pages to shake some sense into some of them and kill others at times LOL. That’s a good sign when reading a book I think when the characters become so real to you. This Author is now on my must read list!

The Music That Ties Us is part of the Love Ties Us series by Nicolette Terry, I have never read a book by this author before, but I will be keeping an eye out for more. I really enjoyed everything about this book, it got me mad which is a good thing. The story follows Cadence who finds herself in an unfulfilling relationship with a who is stifling her, when Cadence goes to a concert with her sister Jade, she does not expect to have an instant connection with the smouldering lead singer of the band. Damien is not in the market for a relationship, especially one with a woman who is already taken, he has been burned before and has learned his lesson however, he cannot deny the attraction he feels. This was a really enjoyable book, I got so mad at Elijah and the way he treated Cadence that I was practically shouting at my Kindle. I really wish this book had included him getting his comeuppance rather than seemingly being able to walk away without consequence, but hopefully, future books will revisit some of these storylines. I will definitely be reading the other books in this series.

I have never met a more relatable character than Blakley. I too binge watch Greys Anatomy and indulge myself in my favorite DoorDash order when I’m taking a mental day.
I really enjoyed this story. It was extremely realistic. It showed the different aspects of human relationships. We saw grief, love, betrayal and forgiveness. It wasn’t a fairy tale romance but you can feel how deep the love runs. I don’t personally have experience with a loved one seeing the horrors of war, but it seems like the author did a very good job capturing survivors guilt and ptsd.

I love a series that can be read in any order or by themselves. This is book two in the Love Ties us series but it can be a standalone novel. So if you have read the first story it is ok. I really love the playlist at the front of the books. I think they are great companions to capture the essence of the story. I loved this story, instant connection is so hard to come by but it’s so beautiful. It really is as if that person was made for you. The chemistry between Damien and Cadence jumps off of the page. I enjoyed every minute of the book.

The Music That Ties Us is the second book in the Love Ties Us Series and holy cow what a heartfelt amazing Rockstar Romance. I was pulled in from the beginning and pretty much devoured this whole book in one sitting. I literally did nothing else until I finished. The characters are relatable, complex, raw yet realistic and developed. My emotions were all over the place with this story and my heart was happy and sad for these two. I don’t want to give anything away. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I’m already waiting patiently for the next book in this series. I’m sure it’s going to be just as good as this one. I can’t wait.

Overall, this novel is a very good read. There is definitely a lot to take in all at once. The characters are amazing together. I love how the author portrays the backstory of what happened between the main characters as well as the present. The characters have developed a lot throughout the whole story. There are parts of the story that show what the military personnel goes through while on deployment and there is help out there if one does need it.

In this heartwarming tale of love, forgiveness, and redemption, Cadence is stuck in a relationship that makes her miserable. Once Cadence breaks away from her jerk boyfriend, she follows her heart to Damien. Then it all falls apart. He stops calling, texting, and communicating. She doesn’t know why. When Damien finally tries to explain, Cadence doesn’t want to hear his excuses. Damien fights his way back to Cadence. At a surprise concert, Damien puts everything on the line for Cadence.

Rockstar Energy Drink book! I just loved this story and all the feels that it brought to light for me. This is a page turner, with great characters throughout. A very well written spicy contemporary romance. So good I read it in a day, I was that hooked. Full of drama, tension, friendships, banter, chemistry and spicy slow burn romance. The characters are well written and developed over the story line, I felt like I could have been friends with them they were that relatable. The Music that Ties Us is a wonderful story. The author quickly brings us a slight romantic triangle. With characters that were well written and delivered throughout. Cadence has a fiance and great memories of their time together. But things are different now. Lost is the man she once knew, laid back and fun. Now he’s suppressing who she is as well. Until one night things changed. Craving independence, what does Cadence get herself into in this story? Damien doesn’t want to be held down. But he can’t keep his eye off of Cadence. Does he give into temptation? What will happen with the fiance? I had so many questions through it all. With the plot included. Again I will reinterpret how this book, it’s the beginning of the end? This book was such a good one! It pulled at my heart and make me cuss out loud and I didn’t want to put it down. It is a Rockstar Romance that was spicy and full of chemistry and angst. I adored the FMC Cadence but she had questionable taste in men and she definitely is put through the ringer during this story. But her slow burn romance with Damien was a good one and I enjoyed them and was rooting for a hea even while they dragged their feet! The Music That Ties Us (Love Ties Us Series) by Nicolette Terry. This is a great contemporary romance. Its the story of Cadence who feels like she is stuck in life. Stuck in a bland relationship, stuck in a rut in all facets of life until her sister takes her to a rock concert and she connects with the lead singer, Damien. Damien wants no part of Cadence even though she is beautiful he can’t risk a relationship with his past. Cadence doesn’t give up on Damien but Elijah her boyfriend is still around and she puts up with a lot from him. She and Damien do become friends thru their love of music and the chemistry is off the charts. Will she finally be able to say goodbye to Elijah and will Damien finally let her in. Will Cadence be able to see her worth the way others see her? Such a good read but be prepared, I couldn’t put it down once I started reading. I finished in one evening.

It’s funny how I keep picking up books that I end up massively relating to. Cadence is stuck in an unhappy, toxic, passionless relationship until her sister drags her to see a band and she can’t keep her eyes off the lead singer. They don’t get along at first, but end up forming a deep friendship, which allows Cadence to grow the strength she needs. It’s an emotional story all-round, as well as relatable, and inspirational, and romantic. I did find a few issues towards the end, for instance, I feel like Damien’s history is the kind of story that contributes towards the lack of belief in women, I thought her connection to music would come sooner, months go by in the space of a few chapters, a lot comes out about Elijah, there’s a huge level of miscommunication, and I’m guessing the reveal at the end is a hint towards the next in the series but I hadn’t connected to the relevant characters enough for it to make an impact. But overall it was a passionate love story and I’m happy with how it worked out. My favourite character was Cadence and my least favourite character was Elijah. I recommend this book because it is inspiring especially if you find yourself stuck in an unhappy situation. And we’ve all dreamed about singing along with a rockstar, haven’t we? ‘There was something inspiring about hitting rock bottom and creating yourself all over again, brick by brick.’

Having read The Story that Ties Us, I was looking forward to reading this book. This book was even better than the other and I was pulled into this story immediately. The characters were so relatable. Their connection was intense and emotional and yet there seemed to be so much standing in their way. I am desperately hoping they would find their way through it all. I loved the story the author had created. It really drew me in and was the kind of story that didn’t let go until I had finished the book. I was completely invested in what was going on and the characters journey. This is a brilliant book that I would highly recommend.

This book is an emotional second chance romance story about two characters who have to find a way to put the past behind them. From the moment these characters met again, it was obvious they had not left their feelings behind. Even with everything else between them, their connection was undeniable. With everything focused on the characters, the author created a great story around them. It was easy to read, engaging and lovely to watch the feelings between the characters develop. The whole way through the book I was hoping for their happy ending. This is a thoroughly enjoyable read.

Oh my goodness, this one worked all emotions. Both heartbreaking and heartwarming, this story will take you on a journey of two hearts that work their way back to each other. The writing is beautiful and you can feel the passion and love and pain in the writing. The characters are very well-written. I was so into this one. My kindle app was glued to my hand. A beautiful story that needs to be read.

Wow, this was an awesome book. Cadence had some lessons to learn. Boy, could I relate to this story. Once I started, it really wasn’t possible to put it down. I was talking to Cadence as I was reading. Life coaching as you go along. Strong writing made this a story that just grabs you. Yes, Cadence had her whiny and weak moments but don’t we all. Watching her grow was nice. The steam is fabulous. Their chemistry is their but I do like a male character that does the right thing. This is one of those stories you should read.

The Music That Ties Us is the second book in the Love Ties Us series by Nicolette Terry. It is a spicy contemporary rockstar romance with chemistry, tension, intrigue, angst, drama, emotion, banter, and fantastic characters. The characters were well crafted into fully realised individuals with their own unique personalities, quirks, and flaws. I appreciated how they continued to develop and grow over the course of the story. It added extra depth and dimension to their tale. And made it easy to invest in them and the outcome of their story- Cadence and Damien really were perfect for each other. So, if you love a heart-tugging, slow-burn, hot and spicy rock star romance- then you will definitely want to dive into this book asap. Happy Reading…

The Story That Ties Us is the first book in the Love Ties Us series by Nicolette Terry. Being the first book that I have read by Ms. Terry, I really wasn’t sure of what to expect to find between the covers- so I was curious to find out. This proved to be an emotional contemporary romance with second chances, love, loss, grief, anger, heartache, drama, angst, challenges, hope, redemption, and more. Blakely had her heart broken by Jamie years ago, and it took her a long time to rebuild her shattered life after him. But just when things seem so perfect, Jamie walks back into her life. And it’s obvious from the outset, that the flame that once burned between them had never fully extinguished. What does fate have in store for these two? If you love contemporary romance, then you really should read all the sweet and heart-strumming details for yourself. Now, it’s on to Book #2 for me. Happy Reading…
