It is now 1885, 2 years since the second book ended, and we finally get to find out who the narrator and the mysterious Dear One are referring to when the narrator speaks. This book follows suit if the series and continues with the mystery and intrigue. I won’t spoil any of the surprises but there are some repeat characters in this book which makes for a nice treat as well. I’m hooked and looking forward to the next adventure.

I love books set in a historical time period. I’m really enjoying this series and book 3 is no different. The author is so creative with this series that I can’t wait to see what she’s thought of for the next book. I really enjoy how the author kept me on my toes, with something always happening. I really enjoyed this cozy mystery. I think you should check it out for yourself!

Book 3 in the series brings more mysteries. Whereever Emma seems to go, Emma’s power of observation allows her to see things that others don’t. The series continues as Emma has now established herself as a strong investigator. This round she helps to find missing children, paintings, and solve the case of murdered husband. This book delves further into the complexities of being a woman in a man’s world. I really enjoyed how Emma is written in such a way that she exudes confidence and captures the attention and respect of everyone she speaks to.

Emma receives a strange request that previous client has left a inheritance and that she needs to get to New York to review the business and papers. So, a trip is organised, and she invites Jeremy along were they start to become closer and need to understand how their relationship will develop as they are locked in a society which frowns upon co-habitation without marriage.
They are thrown into task along the way which uncovers more than they are expecting but allows Emma to continue with her business and to expand her team, but when a new case lands which has them looking into murder, kidnapping and much more, can they solve the case and also help out a friend in need all trying to navigate their feelings for each other, you will need to read.

I love this series, Emma’s character is a kick ass woman in an era of conservative views and propriety, but the author navigates this with a understanding and not patronising, this story is well written and draws you into the mysteries as you follow Emma within the story. This story is full of action and intrigue and with the added aspect of Jeremy the love interest it keeps you reading till the last page. I love the interaction between the character of Jeremy and Emma as they are trying to try to have a relationship, they both would like but trying to bypass the traditions of society is challenging within their relationship but is relatable to society today in a way.

This the third book in the series and although I believe you could read as a stand-alone story there are some recurring characters from the other books and history which may be useful in this next instalment but as I say not necessary for your enjoyment in this story. I would recommend this book if you liked the thrill of a mystery with a ton of action and twists and turns which have you feeling you are involved in the action.

Can wait to read the next story in this brilliant series.

What a whirlwind of a story! Emma and the team definitely know how to keep you on our toes from one mystery to the next. Chicago is brewing with population, unemployment, and violence issues around this time and you can see them vividly in this novel. In this environment, it’s unlikely the Company and Pinkerton’s stay still for long! I felt like I saw more action here than in the previous novel, but I did enjoy watching Emma grow and mature in this part of her journey. Especially with her friendship with Thomas and Jeremy, her family, and her business! Emma is still someone I would love to be friends with or have in my corner no matter what. Though there were a few scenes I felt didn’t need to be included as they slowed the story down. I would definitely recommend it to young adult readers. There is a hint of romance but nothing detailed as we have seen in other books. It is tastefully done and doesn’t cross that line detail for young readers.

The Vibrant Emma is back for the 3rd book in this wonderfully written, engaging YA series that is simply not to be missed. I know I have said that before but I will keep saying it, over and over because this series deserves praise for its creative storylines and the captivating writing talent of it’s author.
With each book you are so easily transported back in time that you really feel as though you can see everything around you and all that is happening so vividly.
Emma has so much happening in this book! Of course a case comes along as it always does for her, with kidnapping, murder and secrets she will be kept busy. Add to that a totally surprising inheritance and you have a fantastic story that will keep you hooked from start to finish.
This book can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend reading the series not only for background but for your enjoyment!!!

This is the first book that I had the pleasure of reading by this author, and I was BLOWN AWAY. I am a sucker for a good YA Historical book and this one caught my attention and had me hooked after reading every word. The story revolves around a girl named Emma who learns of an inheritance from a previous client, and she has to determine what good or bad could come of this. She has lots of trials and tribulations that she must endure throughout the book. I cannot wait to read the other books in the series as it was wonderfully written!

Notebook Mysteries ~ Changes and Challenges by Kimberly Mullins

This isn’t the first book I’ve read by the author. The Notebook Mysteries is a good series. Changes and Challenges is a great read and you won’t want to miss it.

Emma is left everything from Millie’s grandfather after he passes. She then finds a case that she will be going to alone. Jeremy sends her there and there’s a reason why. The quote I chose for Emma is: “Unfortunately, or maybe, fortunately, Mr. Carlyle died of natural causes before he could hear his granddaughter’s guilty verdict.”

Jeremy is working on a case downtown and will not be joining Emma. Instead he hopes that he can keep their secrets. Can he do that and keep Emma safe? The quote I chose for Jeremy is: “I’ll be on my way, also. I’m working a case at Citizens bank downtown. I’ll be there all week if you need anything.”

Highly recommended for YA Historical lovers.
