Notebook Mysteries ~ Parisian Intrigue (Notebook Mysteries Book 6) by Kimberly Mullins – Review by Carrie Reed

To be honest I couldn’t get into the story at first, but then things started picking up and I couldn’t read fast enough. I love that there were 3 different crimes in this book, all in the same area of Paris where they were staying. I can’t tell which story I was more invested in, finding out who kidnapped Patrice’s mom or what would become of the light show. Both crimes were well laid out, with so much detail and thought. The foursome finally getting to go home at the end just wrapped it up nicely, I know there is never any place like home once on a vacation. I look forward to more adventures with Emma and Jeremy.

I was so excited to find that this author had book 6 in this series! This story takes you to Paris, France for the 1889 Paris Exposition. Emma, Jeremy, Tim, and Dora head to the City of Lights for a job that they accepted. There they learn of two mysteries that could change everything. The 4 split off into pairs and tackle both mysteries and come across many people who say they are friends, but are they really? In this intriguing 6th book, you get more facts, twists and turns, and things that make you question everything you just learned. This is a standalone so you don’t need to read the other books in this series to understand what’s going on! I highly recommend this series and can’t wait for the next adventure and mystery!

These books never disappoint. Although #6 in the Notebook Mysteries Series, this can be read as a stand alone, with that said, you are really missing out on good reads if you don’t read the previous 5.
Reading the previous 5 books may help with character background and relationship dynamics.
This book is very much like the previous 5, in the sense it’s a page turner. It is certainly a warm cozy mystery. This book is suspenseful but not dark or heavy, which for me is refreshing. I truly cant wait for the next adventure.

Notebook Mysteries: Parisian Intrigue is the sixth book in the series. This can be read as a standalone but will be best enjoyed if read as part of the series. It is 1889, and time for the Paris Exhibition. Emma and her crew have been invited to Paris, but there are some suspicious circumstances to the invite. Despite their suspicions, they take the all-expense paid trip to Paris. This is a fun historical mystery series, and this addition to the series did not disappoint. The characters have grown so much through the series and always keep me reading for more. I enjoyed this story because this was not a single mystery, but several, keeping everyone busy. Emma and her team have their own strengths and identity but work together well as a unit. I think this is part of what makes this series so enjoyable. I look forward to reading more from this series and the author soon.

The author takes readers on a trans-Atlantic voyage to a World’s fair-type of expo, held in Paris in 1889. The details about the exposition were interesting. I especially enjoyed the details concerning the Eiffel Tower. Two mysteries overlap within this tale. Readers will enjoy the details as well as the setting of this latest in this series, although it can certainly be enjoyed without having read its predecessors.

  1. French mystery adventure
This brilliant sleuthing mystery continues with Book 6 in the Notebook Mysteries series. Emma, Jeremy and the crew are invited to Paris under suspicious circumstances as two mysteries unfold simultaneously. I love how this author can bring so much to the plate in a seamless patchwork of engaging twists and turns. This is a favourite series of mine and what an amazing addition this is. Highly recommend!

Parisian Intrigue is the sixth book in the Notebook Mysteries series by Kimberly Mullins. This is a fabulous historical mystery with crime and investigation, intrigue, drama, family, friendship, travels, and adventure.
The series goes from strength to strength, with each new addition slightly eclipsing the last. Ms. Mullins me engrossed right from the outset. I was immersed in all the adventure, and sights and sounds of the Paris world fair, while I followed along to find out how everything would play out in the end.
I also found the historical notes at the end of the book were quite fascinating too.
This could be read as a standalone, if you wanted, without feeling like you are missing anything major. But having said that, I highly recommend reading the previous books before starting on this one, as I feel that knowing what happened previously will give you a far greater appreciation of the characters, motivations, and series foundations- as well as enhancing your reading experience of this book.
Looking forward to seeing what Emma (and the team) get up to next…..
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Kimberly Mullins!

This is my favorite of this series so far. Each of these can be read as a stand alone but it would be helpful to have some background information on the relationships between all the characters.

A mysterious invitation has appeared Emma, Jeremy, Tim, and Dora. They are expected to leave the next day for a 5 week vacation in Paris. Everything is paid for and arranged….not one bit weird, right?!?!? Of course, Emma’s hackles are immediately up but she’s not one to turn down a challenge.

The group arrives in Paris but not without some unexpected and uncomfortable situations. There are 3 people from the ship over that are becoming rather clingy to the group, but not all at once. Julian is more concerned about Emma and Jeremy, while Lenora and Michael buddy up to Tim and Dora.

Next thing, there is the girl in the lobby who looks scared. Then someone comes up missing, a few bodies are found, and the trip is in full swing work mode for this group. Will they ever get to enjoy the City of Lights and the Paris Expedition?

Lovers of crime set in historical settings will love this book!! It was an enjoyable afternoon read. There is plenty of action involved along with a smidge of romance (nothing overly done at all). I love reading about Emma and her clothing and how she uses it to her advantage and has taught Dora the same. I am excited to read the next edition of this series!!

This is a series that I have enjoyed reading from the first book. This is the sixth book in this series which I highly suggest reading the previous books. This will help with your enjoyment of this series as well as the characters. I found this book to be well written and hard to put down. Emma and her friends are back with another mystery full of suspense. She is my favorite character in this series. She is a great character that adds so much to the story. I enjoyed the growth of the characters and plot throughout the story. They pull you into the story with ease and keep your attention there until the end. This is a hard to put down, fast paced, engaging story that the author used their writing skills to not only bring the story to life but realistic as well. I enjoyed reading this book and I highly recommend it

This is the 6th book in the series and it’s still going strong. Once again there are mysteries which the group help to investigate, this time in Paris.

Once again, the author’s writing style makes the experience so much more enjoyable. On top of the great plot, the descriptive language paints vivid pictures of both scenery and the characters. The writing flows well making it easier to follow and research was clearly conducted into the era.

There are twists and turns to leave you guessing and you can’t help but try to piece everything together with the characters.

I look forward to the next book in the series.

Having read and enjoyed the previous books in this series I was looking forward to being back with Emma and solving crimes and mysteries with her, and I was not disappointed. I think this series is getting better and better! The storyline centres on detective Emma, along with Jeremy, Tim and Dora accepting an invitation for an all paid trip to Paris. Although they are slightly suspicious of this offer, they can’t turn down a trip to see the City of Lights. Emma and her team also get to experience the 1889 Paris Exposition and spend time with family. As well as enjoying the demonstrations of innovations which will change their world, there are also two mysteries to solve.
Emma and Jeremy try to help a mysterious girl who appears and then disappears, whilst Dora and Tim try to get to the root of a secret that could affect everyone at the Exposition. They do get to do some sightseeing and even make some new friends, however not all of them turn out to be real friends. As usual the characters and settings are brought vividly to life through the descriptive narrative. I also felt transported back to Paris during the 1889 Paris Exposition due to all the added historical details. The plot twists kept me guessing as to the outcome of the story and as usual I was hooked throughout. Another enjoyable and engaging novel featuring Emma and her team, and I look forward to the next book in the series.

What a delightful installment to the series. This time Emma has taken us on a journey to Paris and the Paris Exposition. I love how the mystery started right off. Who sent the tickets? Who is this society? ????? The author does such a nice job of setting things up right from the beginning. You just can’t help but being pulled right in. Things are never as they seem with Emma’s mysteries and she will always get to the bottom of it. I found the writing to be wonderfully detailed. Such extravagant details of the food and the lifestyle, it felt like you were there. The journeys to get there, hearing about Tim and Dora’s friendships, so much going on and yet, so easy to keep up with. I enjoy this series and this author’s writing. The characters are always so colorful. I enjoyed this one and I cannot wait for the next in the series.

Having never read any of the series, I was impressed this read as a stand-alone, but intrigued me enough to check out the other notebook books!

I loved when Jules called the Eiffel Tower the “vulgar” iron structure- my family (in a lighthearted manner) calls it similar names (or unfinished!). My favorite quote from the book was “The Case of the Vanishing Lady” and “The Woman Who Knew Too Much,” which summarizes the cases Emma, Jeremy, Tim, and Dora unexpectedly fall upon while visiting the 1889 Paris Exposition. I also enjoyed learning about the exhibits through the fictionalized story, and appreciated the “real” facts at the end of the book.

Be prepared to drool over all the wonderful Parisian food treats as you try to solve the mysteries in this book!

Notebook Mysteries ~ Parisian is the sixth book in the historical crime series Notebook Mysteries by Kimberly. Make sure to read them all in order even though they could be read as standalones, but you get to learn about Emma and watch her grow. I was excited to see Kimberly had another Notebook Mystery for me to get my hands on.
I have grown to love with the multi-layered characters Emma and Jeremy who once again put their super sleuthing skills to the test in Gay Paree and the 1889 Paris Exposition. Having been to Paris makes it all the more exciting because it makes it easier to imagine the places and goings on.
Kimberly has become one of my favourite writers and her narrative draws you into the intrigue and mystery, suspense and drama. The story is well written, and I was invested and engrossed with every twist and turn from start to finish.
This adventure has it all to keep the pages turning from danger to murder to kidnappings to threats and crime and much more. It’s easy to get lost in with the vivid scenes of Paris from the city lights to the Eiffel Tower to the river Seine.
If you love an historic sleuthing story, then this great new addition to the series is for you.
