Leaving No Traces (Commissario Scala #5)Leaving No Traces by P. J. Mann
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was not my first and it won’t be my last I really enjoy the writing of PJ Mann😉

I’ve never been to Italy but the writing style made me feel like I was there . I could smell the smells , feel the feels and form pictures in my minds eye ❣️📚

Detective Scala is at it again . This time , a young woman had gone missing , her car has been found and there are blood splatters on the seat ….

Simona Riboldi was on her way to her lover when she stopped for cigarettes and then she messaged him that she’s had a change of heart and then disappears !? Naturally her husband is a suspect as is the lover but there’s something more sinister going on especially when it comes to light there was another lover! Not only that but there’s another murders and the 2 seem to be linked and just for added drama let’s add a little mafia as well !
I mean girl you have your hands full! Where she found the time , stamina and energy is mind boggling 🤭🤫

I like Detective Scala and his love affair with coffee , the man had taste 😉☕️❣️and he’s going to need that caffeine to find a killer , protect a witness and keep himself out of harms way …

An enjoyable read especially with a coffee on hand 😉

Detective Scala is up to his neck in trouble. After finding an abandoned car with blood in it, he takes it upon himself to solve the crime. Unfortunately for him he discovers that another victim and the two crimes seem to be related. Not only is he trying to solve two crimes at once, he is also trying to keep an important witness alive as well. The crime scenes point to Mafia involvement, but as always anything is possible. Follow Detective Scala on another adventure. I have read one other book in this series and this one was just as good as that one. As far as I can tell they do not to be read in any particular order but I like to read a series in order. This book was engaging and kept my attention trying to solve the mystery. If you are in the mood to read a good mystery and forget the real world for a few hours this book will do that for you.

Leaving No Traces (A Commissario Scala Mystery in Rome) by P.J. Mann – Review by Jessie Hopkins

Everyone knows when a married person goes missing, you first look at their spouse and other close relationships. But when someone has woven a tangled web, everyone begins to look suspicious.

This book had me second guessing myself at every turn. Just when I felt confident that I had it figured out, someone else would start to look guilty.
Jumping into the 5th of a series is never easy, but I will definitely be reading the others from this series. Very well written and attention grabbing.

I really enjoyed this book from beginning to end. Although this book is the 5th book in the series, it can be read as a stand alone. I read this as a stand alone but will be looking into other books in this series.
The book did keep me guessing and anticipating what would happen next. I truly enjoyed that all characters weren’t loved by me, because thats just reality. Loved this book and can’t wait to look into the others in this series.

I am not normally into this genre but I love this author’s writing style! I also am a huge fan of Detective Scala and everything about his character. He has such a passion for his job that sometimes it overtakes him. Luckily, he has a good support system to help keep him in line and not take on too much stress. He is investigating a disappearance and things take an expected turn. Just when I thought I had things figured out, things are on hold. Then to my surprise another twist pops into the story. I was not expecting the way this one ended. I could have sworn that I had it figured out and then was blind-sided by the end. I will definitely be reading the rest of this author’s books. This was the second one I have read from them, and my only regret was not reading them all in order.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Leaving No Traces (A Commissario Scala Mystery in Rome) by P.J. Mann. I love this series and this book was no exception. Its a wonderful, exciting crime drama. Its the continuing story of Jack Scala who is investigating a woman having a affair with 2 different men. Simona has been warned to end the relationship and she was trying but apparently they warned her to end the wrong one. She ends up getting kidnapped. When her car turns up there are lies upon lies discovered. This book goes to show you, you never really know someone even when you are married to them. When there is not one but two murders Scala knows he must step up his investigation and find Simona so he can find out what is really going on before more bodies stack up. You can read this as a standalone but I have loved every book in this series.

Leaving No Traces (Commissario Scala #5)Leaving No Traces by P. J. Mann
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

While Leaving No Traces is book five in the Commissario Scala Mystery in Rome series, it is a stand alone book and you do not need to read the previous books to understand the story. I do recommend reading them, to follow character development and better understand the history of Detective Scala (but again, that is not needed). This time around, Detective Scala is investigating a woman who was having an affair with a married man (while she was also married) and has gone missing. The woman was last seen buying cigarettes at a gas station and all that was left behind was her blood stained car. As the detective digs into the case, he soon realizes there was more to the woman than he originally thought, and more suspects began to surface. Was she trapped in a bad marriage and escaping into another relationship, or did the husband have something to do with it all? Where did she go, and who is to blame? Leave it all to Detective Scala to solve the mystery, but not without many twists and turns along the way!

Leaving No Traces (A Commissario Scala Mystery in Rome) by P.J. Mann – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

It took some time for me to into the story line, to be honest. I felt very lost which is weird because it’s a murder mystery and it shouldn’t be making me feel that way. While I enjoyed characters like Commissionari Scalia, Esposito, and Milani, I think there needs to be new detectives maybe. Don’t get me wrong, the current line up is good I think we could have more, maybe more forensics as well. Overall, the book was good read but left me hanging.

I do like a good thriller or mystery that keeps me guessing until the end. It isn’t my first genre of choice, but I did enjoy this book, which is a 5th book in a series. You gotta love a detective that loves coffee, food and figuring out the answer to a “who done it…” He wants to find the murderer while protecting the witness and not getting himself killed along the way. This story is engaging and has characters that are mostly fun to get to know. While you may not have read books 1-4, you can definitely get into book 5 without a hitch.

This installment of the author’s A Commissario Scala Mystery in Rome Series is a brilliant read. I’ll admit that I have not read the previous books in this series but will check them out now that I’ve seen how incredibly written this one was.

I’m an avid fan of mysteries and this title does not disappoint. You are almost immediately thrown into a thrilling case following the disappearance of a woman who was having not only one affair, but two. Somehow she managed both but received a message to end the affair. A classic whodunit ensues and after an extensive investigation, a lot more was uncovered than expected.

This was a page turner from the very beginning. I really enjoyed it although it did not need as much of the twists and turns as was provided.

I enjoyed the cover art as well. While I’ve never been to Italy, some of the imagery describes what I would expect of its gorgeous atmosphere.

I give this title 4 out of 5 stars. I cannot wait to read more from this series and the author.

From the moment you open this book…you are hooked! At least I was! This book was very original, I love the setting and location of the book. The author is very figurative in the book and I love it when I can read a book and see it in my head like a movie. I won’t give it away, but the book is worth reading every page! When I first started reading it, I finished 43% of the book right away! I couldn’t put it down! I loved all of the characters and I’m looking forward to hearing much more about Detective Scala!

Wow! I can’t believe this is book 5 and I’m just finding this series. Leaving No Traces was fantastic! I love these kinds of crime novels. I’m still blown away that this is book 5. That tells you what I’m doing going back to books 1-4. Which also states that though part of a series this reads very well as a standalone.
Commissa Scala is a detective I want to follow. I need more of his stories in my life…. lol
Anyway in this particular case he ends up in the case of missing person, Simona Ribisi. As well as the whodunit that goes along with it. So many suspects but how to weed them out. Simona had secrets which just increased the suspect pool, making this case harder to solve. Only when some drastic happens that leads to the break in the case Scala was looking for.
I figured out rather quickly the who, but the twists and turns the book takes to get there. I loved every minute. The author had me hook line and sinker. I can’t wait to jump into other books in this series, I just hope Scala and his team are at the forefront of them.

Detective Scala is dedicated to his work and eager to do whatever it takes to solve his case. He lives on coffee and chaos and you route for him the entire way. With no shortage of action, I was swept in from the first page and the twists and turns kept me guessing right to the end. If you have a love for murder mysteries, suspense and action, look no further!

This was my first book by the author but definitely will not be my last. I took a shot on this book knowing it was a part of a series, and I was very pleased that I could follow along without having read any others! If you are like me and need a good mystery, you can choose this one! I will definitely be checking out the rest of the series!

A gripping Italian murder mystery which had me hooked from start to finish. Set in Rome and featuring Detective Maurizio Scala, this action packed, fast paced novel kept me guessing until the end. The detective investigates when a young woman’s car is discovered at a service station, abandoned but with blood splatters on the driver’s seat. Then a second murder is discovered, and as Scala digs deeper he uncovers a web of corruption and deceit, along with a link to the mafia. As well as trying to catch a killer, the detective is also protecting a key witness whose life hangs in the balance. As the underworld threatens to consume him, Scala must crack the case before it’s to late. The gritty storyline and plot twists made this a real page turner, and once again the Rome setting is brought vividly to life by the descriptive narrative. I always enjoy solving a murder mystery alongside the realistic Detective Scala, and I was not disappointed by this latest novel. I look forward to the next book in this series!

Leaving No Traces: An Italian Murder Mystery is the fifth book in A Commissario Scala Mystery in Rome. Though this can be read as a standalone book, I recommend reading the other books in the series. Scala is back and brought into the relationships of a woman who has gone missing. Nothing is as it appears, and there is more than a web of lies and deceit. The story keeps you reading, trying to figure out all the ways the story could go. It was riveting and kept my attention. I enjoy the character of Scala and enjoy learning more about him as the series is progressing. He is determined to find the pieces of the puzzle and put it all together before it is too late. Also, Rome brings an extra layer to the story with history and old-world atmosphere. I look forward to grabbing these books and look forward to reading more from this author soon.

Leaving No Traces was a pretty complex crime story. There was a lot going on and it took a while for the detectives to uncover everything. This was a good thing for the readers, because the mystery and “who dun it” kept us engaged. There were a lot of characters but they were fairly easy to keep straight, as everyone was referred to by their last name. The book is part of a series (book 5 in fact), but it did not feel lacking by not reading previous books. I like that we got to see a little into Scala’s personal life, to round out his character. Esposito is hilarious and I think would be a good main characters as well. I will be looking into the rest of the series.

Leaving No Traces is a gripping tale of murder betrayal and justice. This book took me over and consumed my life until I finished. I couldn’t put it down. I was pulled in from the beginning and found myself lost in the pages. I had to know what was going to happen next. This author is still fairly new to me but I like her style of writing and attention to detail. Her characters are creative, relatable and fully developed. Detective Scala puts everything he has into case so when a young woman’s car is discovered abandoned with blood splatters on the seat he sets out to solve the case. What will happen when yet another murder emerges? Detective Scala wont give up as he digs deeply into the investigation. What does he uncover? Can he solve these cases before time runs out? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. Im looking forward to reading more from this Author.

First off you don’t have to read the others in order for this one to make sense. Though I will say I will be going back to read them.

Scala is investigating a missing woman who has been having an affair with 2 different men. One being a married man. While her husband is in the dark.

Simona had been warned to end the relationship. She was trying to. She was told to end the wrong one. Little did the person know she was having more than one. When she was essentially kidnapped. After her car shows back up at the gas station an investigation that would unfold so many lies, deceit and a whole other life come to light. Turns out marriages weren’t as solid as some were made to believe. Secret documents created to protect others. Two murders connected by one affair.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book as it kept me guessing. Especially with the other crimes coming to light and the reveal of who was behind it all. I could see this as a movie and adding more to the story. Now to read the others because this one was hard to put down!

Wow, what a ride! I love a good “whodunit” book and this one was phenomenal. When I thought someone was the suspect, I changed my mind to someone else and then it changes again. I loved the suspense and thrill and the writer had a great way of having you remember all the names and characters in this book. There was A LOT of names but I kept on track with them all. That’s a plus, lol. Super fast read because I simply couldn’t put it down. Highly suggest this book!

Each book i this series can be read as a stand-alone but I think you get a fuller experience when you start from the beginning, it feels like you know the man better 😉

A body is found with a note attached but it’s no ordinary note it’s full of his dark secrets ….the deeper he digs the more murders are uncovered and more questions are needing answers and the clock is ticking ….

Scala is a complex character with a quirkiness that makes him the stubborn character he is , yet you can’t help but like him .

Rome has never felt so dark and frightening ….

This is book 5 in the Commissario Scala Mystery series. Even though it is part of a series they can be read as a standalone as each book is a different case. This author does an incredible job of creating a story full of action and twists and turns that you never see coming. The detective is like a dog with a bone and will stop at nothing until the mystery is solved and the murderer caught.
When a car is found abandoned with blood splatter in Detective Scala is in a race against time to find out what happened to the woman. Was it a case of an affair ending badly or did the woman have connection to something darker.
As Scala trys to uncover the lies and secrets to get to the truth he has to come face to face with the darker side of society. Is this the case that finally gets to Scala? Can he solve the case, keep himself safe and protect a witness? Will he be able to discover the truth before its too late?

This book is action packed right from the start and doesn’t let go until the end. The twists and turns means you can’t predict the outcome of the story which makes it even more gripping as you can’t stop until the end.

If ever there was a need for a detective, I could only hope they’d be as dedicated and determined as Detective Scala!!

He’s at it again, trying to sort out who is behind the disappearance of a woman last seen in a service station buying cigarrettes. All they have so far is her car and a lot of questions.

As Detective Scala digs into the case, he learns that his victim is involved in a couple of affairs. This makes his suspect list even longer than he originally thought. Also, everyone he interviews comes across as cagey and hiding information.

However, after a bunch of twists, turns, and adventures, along with a mandatory vacation, Detective Scala is able to cuff the appropiate people involved in this case.

Another very well written and entertaining mystery by P.J. Mann!

Leaving No Traces
By: P J Mann

This is another wonderful Detective Scala tale. It is part of a series, but honestly each book functions as its own. This is a complex case from the start, it features what appears to be one case of a murder, or maybe an abduction because there is no body, just a car and a lot of blood in the driver’s seat. However, there ends up being more than one body and definitely lots more to this case including the mafia. Plus there’s the added drama of a witness who has to stay alive in order to testify about anything.
This is definitely filled with twists and turns and I loved every minute of it. As a character, I love Detective Scala. But the truth is, it is the cases he solves that keeps me coming back for more. This one had a little bit of everything and literally kept me up way past my bedtime. Everytime I thought I had it figured out, another twist would make me change my mind! I definitely recommend this one and the rest of the series!!!

Detective Maurizio took me to every part of the crime to see who really was it, I was living on the edge and wondering how but why. This story was amazing… The part that was crazy was that either he finds out who did it or the mafia finds him. It was a page-turner for me. Love it!!!

Typical Italian Scala (“eating in a hurry without time to enjoy is a waste of time. Hopefully, the detectives stomach would also agree”) is back again, this time unraveling an intermingled web of families with drama and interconnections. As with the other Commissario Scala books, I really enjoyed the realistic crime scenes and aftermath that author PJ Mann sets up.

Comical relief between Scala and his colleagues lighten up some of the more intense moments in the book. I have truly enjoyed this series so far, and can’t wait to read the next one.

PJ Mann is a new author to me having never read any of the previous books in this series. My genre of choice is mystery or thriller so after reading the synopsis of Leaving No Traces I was eager to see if this was a series I could find myself getting into after. I really did like this book, I felt that it really hit the ground running from the very beginning with twisty unraveling until the end. I like that the book itself wasn’t too long, about 200 pages start to finish with a sneak peek of what is to come.
