In the third and final installment of the Quirk of Destiny Trilogy the reader is immediately clued in on the protagonist, Calum, potentially loosing someone he loves dearly. Not just Calum, but the rest of the world loosing someone they love due to these environmental anomalies. This is a multiple point-of-view read as well, which did busy up the read a bit for me. Overall I enjoyed the concepts and themes that the author incorporated; the elite with their power, genetically modified foods to control the population, and what happens to humans when the world is ending.

A highly detailed return book that makes reality and fantasy blend ! A ton of detail for world building that reached a plateau. Shifting gears introducing the mysterious ways of this newly found life. How realistically written I was questioning myself through out the book if it truly was fantasy! I enjoyed the plot twists and turns. A slow but good strong finish.

Quirk of destiny is a fascinating read; mysterious and engorging. I’ll admit the beginning feels slow with the mass of information to build a good platform of understanding. It’s not my usual type of genre. But I was pleasantly l surprised by chapter 14. So hang in there if you’re like me ! It really gets going with the twists and turns. Surprises increase as does the mystery! I found myself asking is it the end of the world ? Or are you just apart of an experiment ?

I definitely recommend for those who love mystery and don’t mind a very detailed almost realistic build up to get there.

This was a great series! I really enjoyed the science behind the story and was not expecting the plot twist this third book took. You definitely need to read the first books in the series to follow the story and get the full picture. You get to learn the full story behind the Genies and the Elite in the book and it will really make you think. I love that the story actually ended and does not leave you hanging like some stories do. And as always the science that is included by the author really does make you wonder. I really enjoyed reading from Calum’s point of view. He’s a character I really like and could get behind. I definitely recommend this series if you are in the mood for an apocalyptic science type read!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What a brilliant end to a magnificent trilogy! I enjoyed each book, but this finale was absolutely wonderful. Catherine Greenall continues to build this apocalyptic world with paranormal and sci-fi themes throughout the series. Calum is trying his hardest to keep his friends alive while fighting their enemies, but does he have what it takes? Everything took a turn for the worse when genetically modified foods were introduced to the general population, creating the paranormal Genies. Everyone now believes Calum, but unfortunately there may be too much destruction to make a difference. Will Calum and his group be able to survive or this truly the end of the world? I highly recommend this series if you enjoy dystopian sci-fi! I enjoyed all of the political elements in it as well. The author did a remarkable job with this entire trilogy!

Greenall has done it again! This series finale was amazing! It is highly recommended to read the previous two books in the series before venturing into the last one. The experience of this epic, post apocalyptic, dystopian mixed in with great characters is worth the previous reads to get the full experience and get insight where the story has been. One thing I did enjoy throughout the series are the parallels of environmentalism and politics within our modern world and how the scope of things in their eyes. As Calum and his allies keep fighting for the chance to decide their own fate and live in the self-sustained, people centered future. “Genies” are ones who want to enforce their perspective of change and have others follow their path. Many societies face the struggle of sustainability and power/wealth. Although this novel has elements of genies having special abilities, the fundamentalisms of their struggle is brought to light.

Destiny of light had an amazing world building. I felt the book was slow and it was hard for me to get into it. After half way in the book, I was able to get into the book and it was a page turner for me. I would say it’s slow at first but it does pick up after several chapters. It was a great read otherwise.

Wow! The author does not disappoint as she wraps up this series! Sci-fi meets religion. The characters are engaging, and the storyline moves at a believable pace. Who knows? They are a group that has special powers, but try to pass as normal humans. Calum does his best to help everyone that’s left recreate the world that they had lost. Can he save Earth and everyone else before it’s too late?

Destiny of Light: Final Book in Quirk of Destiny TrilogyDestiny of Light: Final Book in Quirk of Destiny Trilogy by Catherine Greenall
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Destiny of Light is the third, and final, book in the Quirk of Destiny series. It tells a dark story of the destruction and devastation caused by the introduction of genetically modified foods. This has caused humans to perish, animals to mutate, and the world be to left in an apocalyptic state. It continues the story from books one and two and builds on them, so I highly recommend reading those books first or the story will be hard to follow.

Scientist Calum continues to struggle to survive along with a few others as the devastation unfolds around the world. Divided into small groups they attempt to survive on their own while building a sustainable lifestyle and growing their own food. Around the world death and destruction unfold as the human race is being killed off at an alarming rate. Having contaminated drinking water was one of their biggest concerns until animals started to mutate into pre-historic, blood-thirsty beasts. The world is in total chaos as the Genies with their paranormal powers, and the dark and sinister Elite, battle to take over the world. Will Calum and his friends have what it takes to survive death and destruction of biblical proportions?

This book started off with a bang and was fast paced throughout. The author takes the reader into a journey where the world has been ravaged and destroyed by the introduction of genetically modified foods. A world in which mutants are taking over, water is contaminated, and food is scarce. A world in which the human population is dying off at alarming rates. This book is full of action, suspense, mystery, tension, death, destruction, and mutants. It is good versus evil on a grand, no-holds barred, fight to the finish. A haunting tale of the very real possibilities of a future where genetically modified foods have been allowed to take over the world’s food supply.

Destiny of Light (Quirk of Destiny, #3)Destiny of Light by Catherine Greenall
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the third and final book in the Quirk of Destiny Trilogy. This story has been a great read from the first book to the last. The author writes in a way that makes the events of the story scarily realistic which as a reader definately makes you worry and think about what you would do if you were in this situation.
In this story we have Genies who are evil trying to destroy the world, the Elites who have magical powers and the remaining human survivors trying to survive day to day.
I would definately recommend reading these books in order to fully appreciate the story. This final installment is just as action packed as the other two with everyone fighting for survival. There is a strong theme of good vs evil running through this story and we finally get to understand who the Elite people are and what role they played in the contamination to the world’s food supply.
As Calum and the fellow survivors try to find other people like themselves they have barriers placed in their way from both the Elite( powerful and evil people) and the Genies (people who were changed by the modified and corrupted food) neither of which want him to succeed. With so much loss that has happened in this post apocalyptic world can Calum and his fellow survivors continue to survive or will it just been too much for them as the Elite and Genies get stronger.

This story is action packed and full of danger. Can Calum and his friends uncover the conspiracies and stop the world being destroyed even more or are the powers they are against just too strong for them to overcome.
This is a great read which really gets you thinking about our currently life’s and how easy it would be to fall into a similar situation that Calum and his friends are in if the powers that be become too powerful for their own good.

Destiny of Light is the third book in the Quirk of Destiny Trilogy. It’s definitely worth reading these books in order as the story jumps right in – you’ll need the previous books to get to know the characters and what’s going on!

This is a fast-paced dystopian sci-fi story. It explores themes such as power and privilege, science and ethics. It’s thought-provoking but also a gripping story that you will struggle to put down! It’s full of twists and turns. There’s also a great cast of characters, and you’ll easily find yourself rooting for Calum and his community as they struggle to survive.

The story is told in short chapters, changing between different settings and focal characters. Personally I prefer longer chapters that get me more immersed in the story, but this style suits a story where there’s a lot going on, and would be great for readers who find short chapters work better for them. I will say it’s good for reading on the subway – I could squeeze in a couple of chapters before my stop!

This book gets four starts from me. I’d recommend it to fans of apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic sci fi, but make sure you read the series from the start!

This book is the final piece of this trilogy, bringing the Quirk of Destiny storyline to an incredible conclusion.

If you haven’t read books 1 or 2, please do so because they are incredibly written. If this is the start of your journey with this series, you will not be disappointed.

As you may have gathered from the synopsis or the cover art, this is an apocalyptic tale for the ages. Genetically modified food is the source of destruction of human kind and triggers the mutated group called Genies to be born with powers beyond your imagination. Some immediately think the end of times is upon them as they are consumed by fear and the unknown reason for all of this.

The main characters fight to save their friends, family and fellow humans against the destruction and mayhem, which the author set up beautifully within this series. The Elite group within this series was very intriguing. Overall the content makes you think about how similar situations in real life could ultimately trigger catastrophic events here on earth, now or in the future. Perhaps things would not be quite like that which occurs in this series, but then again, you never know.

I believe the author’s background helped create a landscape and qualities that someone else would have missed out on. She has a true gift when providing descriptive and passionate dialogue making the reader feel as if they are truly a part of the story.

Phenomenal conclusion to this series! Kudos to the author. I cannot wait to see what else she has in store for us readers in the future.

What a way to wrap up this series!! Catherine Greenall created a masterpiece in this trilogy and this last book just tied up all the ends so neatly…or did it??!?!

I do highly recommend reading these books in order. Each book builds on the previous and you’ll lose a lot of background if these are read out of order.

This book focuses on genetically modified foods, nuclear bombs, dinosaurs of various kinds, Genies, crazy politicians, and so much more!! Callum and his crew are on the hunt for others like them who are against all these GMOs and misuse of environmental resources. When political foes try to squash them, Callum and his crew have to make some life-altering decisions. Haven’t they already endured enough?

It’s hard for me to write an adequate review without accidentally throwing in spoilers so I’m just going to leave this at…..YOU NEED TO READ THIS SERIES!!!

Catherine Greenall creates a shocking and thrilling conclusion to the Quirk of Destiny Series in this final installment, Destiny Of Light. I absolutely loved this apocalyptic tale and this book was the best one yet! Greenall creates an exciting and fast paced series that ups the Ante with each book and the fact that she was a government scientist makes her writing feel scarily accurate! She also writes in beautiful detail with dynamic characters that make her story feel all the more real! I love how this series really makes you think about what we are doing to our food and our planet and the repercussions it could have sooner rather than later! If you haven’t, I would suggest starting with book one A Quirk Of Destiny to be able to experience all of Calum’s story and the history of the Genies! I highly recommend this book to any dystopian apocalypse lover who wants a truly great and unique story that will have you questioning everything you think you know! I highly suggest reading the previous two books before this one to help your enjoyment of this series as well as know where the characters come from and at present moment. I enjoyed how the characters pulled me into their world. A world full of action, enemies and fight for survival. I also enjoyed how creative the characters are as well as being strong and supportive. There is great growth of the plot throughout which makes the story easy to read. I found this book to be fast paced, engaging and hard to put down. The devastation of the world from genetically modified food is terrifying considering it is currently happening to our foods. The story is very well written and Mrs. Greenhall has a way of pulling you in, even if you haven’t read the other books in this series, which I had not read, I do recommend reading them though. I think I would have understood the characters stories much better if I had. This book is a wonderful blend of reality and sci-fi, and I throughly enjoyed it. I would give this book 3 stars only because I hadn’t read the others in the series which would have given me a better understanding of the characters. ~ The Finale in a Gripping Apocalyptic Trilogy~

I highly recommend starting from the first book and then reading the trilogy in order. It appears that the stories are meant to be read in order. If you try to pick up from the third book characters are not re-introduced along with their importance to other characters. The themes appear to be easier to pick up, but you won’t really be able to pick up on the clues intended to lead you to how the demise of the world began in the first place. Regardless, you will certainly enjoy the stories and watching Calum attempt to save the world.

In this final story you will be spun on a journey about Genetically modified foods, the fallout of the human race into tribes and villages, encounter lost people who may have come to care for deeply, leaving you constantly on edge.

There is a group of people known/identified as Genies, appearing to be normal humans in the midst of others, albeit wielding extreme power. Amongst them, or perhaps surrounding them, are a group of elitists that are somehow intermingled in a unique and powerful way. There has been a mutation of the human gene pool, and possibly others genetics have been altered as well, bending the fabric of reality as we know it. This educational sci-fi piece is very unique, and an interesting read.

Our hero Calum is doing his best to help everyone to survive and restore the Earth to a livable state, but the rate at which destruction is occurring is faster than he can overcome it. Read on through the end to discover the truth behind the mysteries surrounding his efforts. What you may find could be very surprising.

If you have ever wanted to read the post-apocalyptic genre, focused more on the sciences and challenges your way of thinking, you won’t be disappointed. This is the final installment of the series and I can definitely say you will be wanting to pick up the first two in the series if you haven’t read it already. …Now it’s up to us…

Destiny of Light is the third and final book in the Quirk of Destiny Trilogy by Catherine Greenall. As with the rest of the trilogy, this is a gripping dystopian post-apocalyptic thriller with sci-fi elements, action, danger, agendas, good vs evil, GM messages, sinister foes, twists, and plenty of dramatic developments.
As I said with the other instalments, Ms. Greenall cleverly weaves a dynamic, detailed, and incredibly descriptive saga, managing to pack so much tension, intrigue, and thrilling detail into the story. Each book builds onto what has come before- painting a ‘bigger’, more dramatic and yet truly believable picture. As I have said before, I can definitely see this trilogy making a great dystopian movie or TV series.
As each book builds on from the previous, I really recommend reading the first two books before starting on this final instalment, as there is a lot of important plot information, character details, and backstory there that you should know in order to fully understand and appreciate this book.
If you love intense, post-apocalyptic stories with a highly original plot, environmental messages, believability, danger, and plenty of action- then this is definitely the book/series for you.
Looking forward to seeing what Ms. Greenall does next.
Happy Reading…

It’s hard not to delve into this story because it would be easy to give away what’s happening but the absolute devastation of a world started with genetically modified food is a clash of real world science and Sci-Fi which is absolutely terrifying to read and this ending adding in the Paranormal really rounded out. The ending I didn’t really see coming right away and it was downright shocking. Will humanity survive the plague of genies and modified food and attacks from elites…
This final book is a must read.

This author has done a terrific job with this trilogy. This book rounds it out with the end. Can Callum and his friends save the world from the elites and their plans with their paranormal powers? I was sucked right back into the story and didn’t leave it until the end. It’s like riding down the roughest river you can ride. You are going along and then Bam, plot twist! smooth, BAM! repeat! That’s what I love. This has been one of the most exciting and scariest scifi book series to read. Touches too close to the weirdness in real life: Elite crazies, modified food, etc. I have enjoyed the characters. The paranormal touches to the story have brought a whole new side. Again, close to real life, starting with the climate disasters at the beginning and here we are with a bunch happening, creepy! Please keep writing more, you have a new fan. I love your style. Highly recommend if you love apocalype/dystopian.

A dark and twisted tale of madness, devastation and destruction in a post-apocalyptic world where genetically modified food created the Genies, the Elite who have the power to destroy and evil with paranormal powers. It is a world in ruin.
Can Calum together with his friends stop those behind this terrible conspiracy and bringing destruction to the world be stopped?
Destiny of Light is a compelling storyline with many twists and turns that you cannot put down.

She is the author of an apocalyptic, visionary, science fiction trilogy. The first book ‘A Quirk of Destiny’ was awarded joint best book of 2013 by Green Living. The second book in the trilogy is ‘Return to Gallanvaig’ and the shocking final book is ‘Destiny of Light.’ The trilogy is based on actual science and imagines a world where toxic food has caused a deadly disease, where there are corrupt power systems and mutants with strange powers caused by the sickness. This trilogy was written as a warning about the potential dangers in our food and how this situation has been allowed to flourish. You can watch the trailer for the trilogy in the Author Updates section on Amazon.

Catherine’s work also includes ghost, horror and vegan cookery, as well as scientific works. She is a long-term vegan and her published works include a vegan cookbook, “Vegans Can’t Eat Anything!” and collections of short stories.

A Quirk of Destiny (Quirk of Destiny Book 1) by Catherine Greenall – Review by Heather Goodman

A Quirk of Destiny: Ignoramus et IgnorabimusA Quirk of Destiny: Ignoramus et Ignorabimus by Catherine Greenall
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book gives a look at what the world could look like. It follows a group of people after a sickness has swept through the world and changed people to a zombie like state. The more you read the more sinister it gets. Be prepared for twists and turns and excitement. The main characters are relatable and very lovable.
