I loved this story about Rocky conquering his fear of the unknown to see his family. I related this so much as an adult with severe anxiety. This book is a great tool to discuss fears and insecurities in an age-appropriate way with beautiful illustrations.

Rocky is a raccoon who lives in the city, and today he has been invited to a family reunion at his grandmother’s house and he is a bit nervous.

He has never met the other members of his family and has no idea what it will be like, but he is still only young, so he heads out with the rest of his household.

As soon as they arrive Rocky is introduced to so many family members, he is never going to remember all of their names, so when they start playing games, he feels left out.

Will Rocky be able to find his voice and join in with the rest of his family, or will his nerves get the better of him in the end? This is a wonderful story which talks about growing up, family dynamics, emotions and how kindness and helping others can make a huge difference in their lives.

My family loves it when I bring a book by this author home! We have read several of their books, so we grabbed this one up right away. This was an incredibly helpful read at this point because both of my kiddos have quite a bit of anxiety and really struggle to talk to people they don’t see often. Rocky the Raccoon was a very relatable character for them (and for me!) so we were all drawn in. This book sparked a great conversation in our home about ways we can manage anxiety, connect with people, and be courageous! I highly recommend picking this up to share with the younger ones in your life at home or at school. I bet you’ll end up enjoying it just as much!

This is a cute little story about a family of raccoons that travel to meet their relatives. I enjoyed the story because it showed how sometimes an individual can feel left out but if you give it a chance you can start to enjoy yourself. It is a cute little story that I think many kids will enjoy. I recommend this story to children who want to read.

This was a cute a quick little kids book. It’s a good lesson for kids about every one being good at different things. Learning new ways to work as a team. The illustrations are so cute and well done. I read this to our two year old and while it’s probably a bit advanced reading wise he really liked the pictures and pointing out items he’s starting to recognize. We really liked this for our bedtime story and highly recommend it. Five stars.

Rocky the raccoon is going to his first ever family reunion. He has never met any of them, so he is a bit nervous. His parents moved to the city before they had him and they never went back to the country to visit before. His mom and dad tell him that it will be okay and he will get to meet and make friends with new family members. It doesn’t help his nerves though. When they get there he meets so many people and names are thrown around so fast that there is no way he can remember. Joking his uncle tells him there is a test on names later. He watches as everyone starts games. He can’t swim so he doesn’t play the first game. He doesn’t like eggs so he doesn’t play the second game. For the fourth game everyone has partners but him. He’s not having the best of times. But when the final game comes about he is the perfect teammate. He was born in the city so it gives him a leg up on dumpster diving. He teaches the rest of the family what to do and he starts to have fun. He makes plans with Rascal (a cousin) to come back and learn the other games and maybe even have them come to the city. It’s such a cute story and book. Rocky leaves happy and excited for another visit. I’d recommend this book for younger kids (10 and under). Maybe a first library even.

Anytime I pick up a Terri Sabol book I know it’s going to be a treasure. This book shows the amazing ways youngsters overcome anxiety. Rocky is going to his first family reunion and doesn’t know anyone other than his parents and sister. The moment a struggle appears he overcomes his worries and speaks up to help everyone. Classic style illustrations mixed with the story gave me some childhood memories of the American Tails movies.

Heads up the eBook had a slight mix up in one place with the pages being reversed. The pages with the egg eating contest.

The artwork was super adorable, detailed and has some Amazing vibrant colors, and flowed very well with the story. Raccoon Reunion is a cute story that addresses the fear of meeting new people. My son was a little thrown off by the family of humans in the beginning, since the rest of the story focuses on the raccoon family. But overall, we liked the story. I like how the young raccoons pair up at the end, but wish they would have done it during the 3 legged race so they had more time to bond. The pictures are super adorable and colorful. Now my son wants to plan a family reunion for our family.

Rocky the raccoon is having a hard time feeling excited about his family reunion. Now the time is here and Rocky is struggling to find something in common with the younger raccoons. That is until a problem arises and he has a solution.

Great story, I thought the way Rocky was a bit shy in participating was spot on with what a child would do with kids unfamiliar to them. Beautiful illustrations and a entertaining spirited time for the raccoons.

Rocky’s family is having a reunion. Rocky doesn’t know any of his family. He gets really reserved and doesn’t know any of the games. But when the last game comes up, Rocky has a brilliant idea. He’s able to come out of his shell and play with his cousins and his aunt and uncle. What a cute little story!!

My six year old son loved this book as it helped to overcome his fear of going to a new daycare and meeting new people. He related to this story and even said if Rocky can do it so can I. I love that it gives kids the little boost of confidence they need to push through. We’ve read a few books by this author and she’s becoming a favorite. Family reunions can be fun, exciting, nerve wracking, trainwrecks sometimes! You just never know what’s going to happen or who you might meet. Rocky is going to his first family reunion and considering he’s never met his family outside of the city, he’s not quite sure what to think. He’s a little on the shy side but a situation comes up that he has the perfect solution to fix!

This is a super cute read that can evoke memories of your own family reunions of the past. It’s a great way to tell kids about their family and how keeping in touch is important. It also encourages younger children who may not be super confident that it’s ok to share a strength, even when they are unfamiliar with those they are around.

In this cute book, Rocky does not want to go to his family reunion because he does not know anyone who will be there. Rocky does not enjoy any of the games because he does not know how to play them. When it is time for dumpster diving though, Rocky saves the day and ends up enjoying himself. When it is time to leave, he makes plans to visit the country and his cousin says he will visit Rocky in the city. A cute book about making the most of situations and learning from others.

Rocky the Raccoon is scared because his family is going on a trip to a family reunion hosted by his family outside of the city he lives in. He’s nervous because he’s never been out of his hometown, and because he’s the only family member that’s never met the rest of the family. At first, Rocky feels left out and uncertain, but eventually, he is able to help his family and bonds with them. By the end of the trip, he almost doesn’t want to leave. This is a great book for young kids, especially those who are about to go on their first trip, or have a big change coming. The illustrations are cute and engaging, and the story is easy to follow.

Raccoon Reunion was the bedtime book of choice and I will admit, it did not disappoint. It was the perfect length for bedtime routine. My daughter’s favorite part of the book was when the raccoons enjoyed a game of Marco Polo as she enjoyed reading “Marco, Polo, Polo” she explained to me. I thought the story and illustrations were really cute. I am someone that makes plans or dreads social settings only to realize it was exactly what I needed… I think that Rocky learned this as well. Raccoon Reunion was a really fun children’s book.

We have read a few books by this author recently, all of which we have enjoyed. So when we saw this one we knew we had to give it a go. This is such a lovely, and heartwarming story about getting to know new people and finding things in common with them. This is the kind of book that, even though it is aimed at a younger audience, is relatable to people of all ages. It can be hard to connect with new people and this book does a great job at teaching us how to do just that.
As with her other books, the illustrations in this one really bring it to life. They are engaging and vivid and just really made this book even more brilliant to read. This is a book that we all thoroughly enjoyed and we hope to see more adventures from this raccoon soon.

Raccoon Reunion is a super cute novel written in a kid friendly, easy to understand way that explains how anxiety can really run away with your imagination. It can make you dream up any number of things that could potentially happen and stress you out so much that you don’t partake in fun activities, such as a family reunion, because you are to nervous or scared. Rocky finds out that the family reunion is not everything he imagined it would be. It was fun, exciting, they played fun games, and went dumpster diving. He even made friends, the country raccoon, and him the city raccoon, share experiences. It was wonderfully illustrated with cute pictures and super accessible.

This book is absolutely cute and perfect!! Especially for us as we are about to have a huge family reunion this fall and my kids feel just like Rocky did in the beginning of the book. When I came across this and we read it together they enjoyed it very much.

Rocky is worried a bit about the reunion because he won’t know anybody and as he meets family, he hasn’t seen for a while or has never met. Grandma Rigby is running family games and Rocky already seems unsure about joining or dislikes some of the games like eggs since he doesn’t like them. He then speaks up about a game he does know and uses ideas to help the family and makes a new friendship with his cousin.

We loved this just as much as we love all of Terri Sabol’s books

In this cute little book for kids, you find Rocky the raccoon scared of going to his family reunion. This is suck a great book to help ease little ones anxiety over going to a family gathering with a crowd of people they don’t know. Rocky is shy at first but then he comes up with a great idea to help the family out and he finds out him and his cousin get along great. In the end they can’t wait to see each other again. The book shows kids how just stepping outside their comfort zone for a moment can help teach them that they can make friends and even become close to family members for a lifetime friend. Definitely recommend this book for anyone who has children who get anxious or nervous about meeting new people
