Turn up the Tempo (Lyrical Odyssey Rock Star Series Book 4) by Charli B Rose – Review by Rosanna Ingram

Turn up the Tempo (Lyrical Odyssey Rock Star series, #4)Turn up the Tempo by Charli B. Rose
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was intrigued by the synopsis of this story. Two people go into a one night stand with no intentions of anything beyond that night and are finding that agreement hard to abide by. However, the story that is laid out by Charli B Rose is amazing and kept me invested the entire time.

Brooks and Brittany have both decided that relationships aren’t their thing. When they hook up at a friend’s party, they don’t want it going past that night. Months later, when they are both part of a wedding party, they realize that the night they shared may have been more than just a hookup. However, lack of communication between the two (on top of trying to fight every urge within themselves to allow for something more) leads to a story that is filled with tears and laughter, hot sex and broken hearts, and growth and (gasp!) love. It’s a great story with so much going on that I don’t want to give anything away…so just read it!

Just a heads up…although this is the 4th book in the series, you do not have to have read the previous books to understand this story. While there are flashbacks to events that probably occurred in other books, it does not hinder the reader from moving through this story. That being said…I will be checking out the other books in the series because I want to know how they all to where they are now!

The Seal of Solomon – Lilandra’s Reeves Adventure (Supernatural Intelligence Agency Book 2) by Nadine Travers

5-Stars

The Seal of Solomon – Lilandra’s Reeves Adventure (Supernatural Intelligence Agency Book 2) by Nadine Travers is an excellent short story. This entertaining and creative story can be read in one sitting. Lilandra is called to recover the Seal of Solomon. She is a warrior aitch with amazing power. When she arrives to retrieve it she is faced with surprising information and an unbelievable offer. Will she fulfill her duties or choose another path.

I was easily carried away by the storyline. I loved the character development. I felt the pain Lilandra felt in making her decision. If I were in her shoes I don’t know if I would have made the same choice. I loved the ending though and can’t wait to see what happens next with this series. Great short story!

Finding Leda; the Science of Happiness (Italian College Novel 1, The Italian Saga) by Gaia B Amman – Review by Katie Matthews

Finding Leda, the Science of Happiness (The Italian Saga #5)Finding Leda, the Science of Happiness by Gaia B. Amman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I enjoyed the new read by Gaia B Amman, having followed Leda through her formative years it was nice to see her moving on in life and what she did. As with previous books Leda’s life isn’t always straight forward and she had a few obstacles in her life to tackle. Again as with the other books by this author the Italian setting for the story was great, I was immersed in the culture that I have begun to love in the other books. The author clearly has taken her time with Leda’s character development and that shines through in the books. A great read and as always I look forward to more from Ms Amman in the future.

Baba Ali and the Clockwork Djinn: A Steampunk Faerie Tale by Danielle Ackley-McPhail and Day Al-Mohamed – Review by Jennifer Gordon

Baba Ali and the Clockwork Djinn: A Steampunk Faerie TaleBaba Ali and the Clockwork Djinn: A Steampunk Faerie Tale by Danielle Ackley-McPhail
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

“Come, Best Beloved, and sit you by my feet. I shall tell you a tale such as sister Scheherazade could have scarce imagined”. Ali bin-Massoud is living in England away from his desert home as he serves as an apprentice to the famed Charles Babbage. Then one night a mysterious box is delivered by a clockwork falcon and Ali’s world is never the same again. Ali has been summoned home on the death of his father and as he makes his journey home he faces much danger, heartache and has to battle thieves. The journey takes all his faith, knowledge and his skill with steam-driven technology, and with a little love he realises his destiny. Ali also has to solve the mystery of the puzzle box and the clockwork djinn as an ancient legacy and his life are at stake.
I found this to be an intriguing read, I liked how the authors wove the retelling of the faerie tale into a new story with a steampunk vibe. The characters were well defined and I fell in love with Ali and I felt invested in his journey and adventures as he looked for answers and returned home. The world Ali lived in was wonderfully created by the authors and I felt totally immersed in this world, I could see, smell, and feel what he did. I’ve not read a steampunk genre book before, however I enjoyed this one and although it was a different type of story for me personally it is one which I am glad I have read as it was an original story and it definitely had me hooked from beginning to end.

The Tragicomic Adventure
of an Italian Surviving the First Time
By Gaia B Amman
☆☆☆☆
This could probably be the best YA story for teens and their raging hormones.
Leda and Nico are the best of the best friends. She is the Tomboy and he is the bad boy. But is he really a bad boy? Is she really a tomboy? These teens are about to find out! This is the best true story about growing through the teen years. You will laugh on one page and cry on the next. At least I did. This story has an Italian twist to it as well. But all things are not the expected fairytale. Getting through those teen years has unanswered questions, unexpected trials and hurt feelings.

Gaia B Amman has researched and wrote this story for the YA teens out in the world. She answers questions that nobody wants. As well as following these young teens as they grow into adults. I love the characters in this story. They just fit! Gaia B Amman has done a great job with this story. Thank you!

I really enjoyed reading “Love Is What You Bake of It,” by Effie Kammenou! I think what I loved most about it was how realistic the characters were. Life is a mess, and so are the lives of the main characters, Kally and Max. Their stories are full of hurt, struggles, and betrayals, but there’s always still hope. This was such a heartwarming read and I thought the recipes sprinkled throughout the book were great! I’m excited to read more from this author!

I love this book from the second i opened it all the way to the very last word. The characters really brought this book to life, and i just could not put this book down! I look forward to reading more from these two authors!

Sex-O-S: The Tragicomic Adventure of an Italian Surviving the First Time (The Italian Saga, #4)Sex-O-S: The Tragicomic Adventure of an Italian Surviving the First Time by Gaia B. Amman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sex-O-S: The Tragicomic Adventure of an Italian Surviving the First Time (Italian Teens, novel 2, The Italian Saga) by Gaia B. Amman was a beautifully written novel about a crucial moment in Leda’s teenage life. Based in Italy during the 1990’s, the story starts when Leda was 15. She is in a relationship with her best friend Nico. Nico doesn’t have the best track record and everyone sees him as a bad boy, but not Leda. She is crazy about him and claims he has changed for her. Obviously he’s eager to be with her intimately but Leda isn’t sure if she’s ready for her first time. Questions and worry start filling her head.

I truly felt for Leda through this novel, going through teenage years is never easy, especially as a woman. So many questions and uncertainty and then you throw boys into the mix. I loved Leda for her fierce, head strong personality. Even though this novel deals with very real and emotional topics, teenage sex, insecurities, and eating disorders, the author did it in a very tasteful way. I’m sure many teenage girls could see aspects of this novel in their own lives, and they might even learn a thing or two about themselves along the way.

Well I like finding new authors. This is the first book from this author that I have read and it was definitely different and refreshing. I found myself being transported into the main character Lee. I felt as though I was her and all the drama and events were happening to me. I was glued to the pages and couldn’t wait to see what would happen.

I would say that this is a great first person view of being a teenager and the roller coaster of love and relationships. I found that the author made it very insightful. The life of a teenager can be quite complex and this book definitely was a great look into that world. First loves and first relationships can all be very complex and this book brings the reader into that complex emotional time. The drama and complexities of relationships, family and just being a teenager really shine through in this book. I look forward to reading more from this author.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Love is What You Bake of it by Effie Kammenou book one of The Meraki Series. The book was so good, I found it hard to put down at times. I really enjoyed following Kally and Max’s story.

Kally is caring and independent. She is very passionate about baking which she shows with how she runs her cafe. She’s also not had such a great past and unfortunately for Max, she lets her past guide her and she doesn’t trust easily. Kally is satisfied in life. She has her friends, family and the cafe. She couldn’t possibly need anything else. Until Max shows up. He is attracted to her from the start but also realizes she doesn’t trust him and maybe won’t ever trust him. Will Max be able to convince Kally to take a chance on him?

My emotions were definitely on a rollercoaster while reading this book. You can’t help but want these characters to be happy. It’s easy to get invested in their lives. I couldn’t help but want to know what would happen next. I couldn’t put it down!

Humiliating Revenge: Contemporary Young Adult Romance
By T. Christensen
5 out of 5 stars

I loved reading the story Humiliating Revenge: Contemporary Young Adult Romance by T. Christensen. It pulled me in from the beginning and didn’t let me go until the final page. It is a book that had me turning pages to find out what was going to happen next. It is the story of Olivia Crawford and Calum Breen. Olivia is a woman who doesn’t have many she can call friends. She is the woman known for dumping Calum. Calum is a man who is in the MMA world. He is going to enjoy the payback that he is determined to give Olivia. He is on a path of revenge. What happens next has him wondering if everything is as it appears to be. This is a story that had my emotions going up and down the entire time I was reading it. There are times when I was angry and sad. There are others when I couldn’t help but feel for the characters of Oliva and Calum and wanted them to find happiness. The bantering that goes on between Calum and Oliva shows the conflict between them. There are also some very steamy scenes in the book as well. Don’t miss out on a story that is addictive, entertaining, and hard to put down. I highly recommend reading it.

The story How (Stalker Series Book 3) by Megan Mitcham is the next thrilling book in an amazing series that I have loved reading since the first story. It pulled me in and didn’t let me go until the final page. There is mystery, danger, and romance. I loved reading about the character of Libby Irish. She is an FBI Special Agent who is good at her job. She is intelligent, independent, and stubborn. She is a woman who says what she means. After her bust of a weapon ring, she is expecting to receive the respect that she deserves. Instead, a picture is released, and she finds herself in a media frenzy. Then suspicious events begin to occur. Who could be behind them? How much danger is Libby in? Who is the stalker that has Libby in their sites? Read this book to find out. Libby’s character is one that I grew to care about with each chapter that I read. I couldn’t help but root for her to find out who is behind the events happening to her. Another interesting character is her neighbor. A mysterious character to be sure. This story is written in such a way that I felt like I was right there with the characters. This book had me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. There are romantic moments as well. Don’t miss out on a story that is entertaining, suspenseful, and will have you turning pages. I highly recommend reading it.

Drew has become comfortable in his simple life even though it is lonely. There is instant chemistry with these two when they meet. He recognizes something in her that he wants to heal. Sunshine Kisses (A Kisses Novella) is by Elaine Marie. I am a little upset that I hadn’t discovered Elaine Marie before now, because I have been missing out on some wonderful stories- as this is my first read by her.
I discovered here that Elaine Marie has a warm and inviting style to her writing- she tells a captivating story full of emotion, relatability, and meaningful moments. Her characters are fully developed individuals- who really brought this story to ‘life’.
This is a vacation fling/friends to lovers romance, full of emotional moments, drama, angst, friendship, love, and medical crises. The story had my emotions all over the place- laughing in places, while welling up with tears in other scenes. While it did take me a little while to warm to Crystal, Elaine Marie soon won me over and had me rooting for her the rest of the way through. I really felt for what she was going through and having to deal with- then add Spencer into the mix and I was hooked.
When Crystal receives some dire news from her doctor, she decides to make the most of her friend’s destination wedding- by enjoying herself and making memories to remember. Part of her plan includes letting her hair down and having a wild, unforgettable fling. What she doesn’t expect is that her ‘fling’ will end up being with her long-time best friend, Spencer. But what happens when their vacation is over, and they head back to ‘reality’? What happens when everything is revealed? What will Spencer do? Will love overcome in the end? This is certainly worth the read to find out!
A wonderful story about how love can overcome anything!
Looking forward to more from Elaine Mare, that’s for sure!

Thank you, Elaine Marie!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

What a delicious way to read a book! Love Is What You Bake of It is written by, Effie Kammenou. This is the first in the Meraki series. This cute little Greek book follows Kally and Max. Kally loves to bake and it shows through her café. She also hasn’t had the best love life and is kind of scorned by it. So what would any baker do but throw herself into her work. Then Max happens. Max is a police officer, who has just moved back to his hometown after a really messy divorce. Along with him, comes a 6 year old daughter named Athena. The moment Max walked into the bakery, there was no question that there was a great deal of attraction between the both of them. However, Kally’s reluctance has put a halt on anything happening between them. That is until Max decides that he wants to prove to her that they would be good together. So what other than baking do you think might happen here? This book really is great and I would definitely recommend it to others. Plus there are special treats in there for everyone! I won’t spill the beans, you will have to read and find out! I know I will be a happy camper the next time I step into my kitchen!

Love is What You Bake of it (The Meraki Series Book 1)
by Effie Kammenou

This is a wonderful romantic read. I enjoyed the recipes that were put in the book, I can’t wait to try them out. Kally and Max have both been hurt in the past and aren’t in a place where they are looking for a relationship. When Max walks into Kally’s bakery for the first time and they see each other the attraction is off the charts. Max makes the decision that he’s going to go for it but Kally is resistant at first but she does have a soft spot for Max’s daughter Athena. The more time these two spend together their chemistry can be felt jumping off the pages. Kally doesn’t trust people and then a situation happens where Kally feels betrayed by Max, which is mostly because her trust issues leave no room for explanations or mistakes. I really enjoyed how there is more than one love story in this book, we hear about her grandmother and grandfather, and also her own mother and father. The author drew me in with such wonderful characters, and a story written about tragedy, love, hope, family and romance. You must read this if you want to find out what happens between these two. I highly recommend this book and I can’t wait to read the next one.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Love is What You Bake of it (Meraki #1) by Effie Kammenou was a great 5 star read. This was a great start to this series. I was pulled right in from the beginning.

We get an intro to Kally in the prologue where she meets a woman who helps her realize some things. We jump ahead a few years, Kally finally has her own shop regardless of how much her father gripes about it. One day a man walks into her cafe and he comes across very arrogant. But her friend accuses her of always finding the bad in men. I loved her friend.

Kally was hurt very badly so she has some pretty high walls and is not actively looking for a man. However there is something about Max that pulls her in. Will she finally let someone in and get a HEA?

Overall I really enjoyed this read. This greek family reminded me of the movie My Big fat greek wedding. All of the secondary characters were great, the family had me lol at times. We get romance, suspense and so much more. I can’t wait to read more from this series and author. 1-click and get started today.

Sex-O-S by Gaia B Amman was a great story! I always enjoy reading a Leda story, and this did not disappoint. Full of drama, and boy problems, self introspection, this novel starring Leda focused more on sex. I always chuckle to myself reading these novels, because Leda always overthinks her situations and problems. Great writing, great introspection, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel and can’t wait to read more of Leda’s adventures in Italy!

Sunshine Kisses (A Kisses Novella) by Elaine Marie – Review by Madison Degraffenreid

Sunshine Kisses (A Kisses Novella) by Elaine Marie

5-Stars

Sunshine Kisses (A Kisses Novella) by Elaine Marie was an emotional and sweet read. I finished this book in one sitting. I was hooked by Crystal’s personality at the start of the novel and the juicy scene of her walking in on her guy friend working out. Nerdy Spencer ended up being a heart throb. I was very curious at the start of what was going on with her and her medical condition. Several scenes in the story had me on the verge of tears and the ending, oh my. I had to fight back tears for a bit but I loved it. This book was addictive and I loved that it was such an emotional read for me. It was excellent. I highly recommend it. Big 5-stars!!!

Lucifer’s Emblem: A Paranormal Academy Novel (Celestial Academy Book 1) by Sarah Biglow & Molly Zenk – Review by Liz Vrchota

Lucifer's Emblem (Celestial Academy, #1)Lucifer’s Emblem by Sarah Biglow
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoy when Sarah Biglow and Molly Zenk get together to write just about anything but Lucifer’s Emblem has to be one of my favorites. Yes it does start out a touch slow but once things start to take off you feel as if you need to legit hang on for dear life until you reach that final chapter. I really look forward to seeing what will come next in this series from these two. This one has just about everything you could want in a sci-fi feel read. We get angels both good and bad, many adventurous situations and action to keep you enthralled. I love how at times I felt as if I had taken a step into the novel and was right there for the fun and action. This book will definitely take you away so I would give yourself some uninterrupted time to devour it like I did. I am sure you will enjoy the ride! Can’t wait for book two!
