This was a cute little story. It was not only entertaining but also informative. I enjoyed learning about what is involved with fostering kittens. This book could inspire children to explore this opportunity and really help shelters everywhere. I recommend this book to anyone with children who love to read and who want to learn more about kittens and how to foster them.
G Pa Rhymes is back with another fantastic installment of the Cray series. This one focuses on Fay and Cray as they travel the ocean while winter weather approaches. In usual G Pa Rhymes style, their journey focuses on empathy, kindness, helping one another and just being good citizens. In their travels, they meet a hermit crab in need of a new shell, helping a whale tangled in a net and a lobster who is trapped, and a lonely dolphin missing their family.
Throughout, the heartwarming story is told with beautiful flow and fantastic illustrations. A wonderful story for all ages to read, but such a sweet and kind way to share with our young ones to introduce the concepts of empathy, compassion, and loving one another. Always a great break to check out these books.

Fay’s Kindness Parade is Book Five in The Adventures of Cray series. In the latest adventure Turtle Fay is preparing to leave behind the chilly weather and head for somewhere warmer. She asks Cray to join her so they can spread kindness along the way. Before leaving they help a hermit crab find a bigger shell. As they cross the ocean, the group helps a lobster free himself from a rock, free a whale that was tangled in a net, and help a dolphin find his family. Throughout their journey others join them in their kindness parade and help spread love, joy, kindness, and happiness. The book is written in fun rhymes and includes beautiful illustrations that make learning about friendship, compassion, gratitude, and helping others. I am a huge fan of this series and look forward to reading more by this author.

An enjoyable YA romance which kept me happily turning the pages. Soap opera actress Valeria Joseph seems to have it all, as working on the daytime soap Charmed Lives everyone wants to be her. When her friend Cecily arranges for her to meet rising pop star Dex Doyle the pair become the ‘it couple’. Valeria then bumps into Davis who was her first love and the one she never got over, who is now a college basketball player. With Valeria finding being in the spotlight challenging and Davis having his own high pressure stressors they are able to support one another. They soon find themselves falling back in love however, Dex is still crazy about her and is causing problems, whilst the publicity surrounding Valeria only gets worse when an award show event trends on social media for all the wrong reasons. With her life so full of drama her and Davis might have to fight to find true love. The New York City setting came to life through the descriptive narrative which made me feel immersed in the story. I felt engaged with Valeria in particular and so was invested in the outcome of the story. No spoilers, I recommend picking up the book!

This book is another great addition to the series and is a well written mystery book. The book brings so much intrigue and suspense and had me hooked from the moment I started reading. I loved watching the mystery play out as the characters worked to solve it. This is an author that I still haven’t read a huge number of books from and yet she has definitely made a lasting impression. I am excited each time I come to read one of her books and I always connect with the story she is telling. This book is another success and reinforces the fact that I want to read more of her work.

The description for this book I found to be a little confusing when reading it, so I wasn’t fully sure what kind of story to expect when I started reading this. What I found was such a fun and engaging story that you can’t take too seriously but is so enjoyable to read. I loved the characters. They seem to have such complicated lives but I thought it made them so much more interesting to read about. Watching their relationship develop, however unconventionally, was great and it made me connect with them even more. The book was well written and engaging. I think the author has done a great job setting the pace and flow of the story. It is the kind of book that I found easy to read and could have kept reading for even longer. After realizing this book is part of a series, I will definitely be going back to read the others.

This was an enjoyable YA contemporary romance. This is a story that has drama, angst, jealousy and a chance of romance. Valeria has it all from the outside. She is a successful actress on a soap opera and was dating the hottest heartthrob around. But when said heartthrob dumps her for her best friend it leaves her feeling alone and betrayed. Not liking the spotlight her fame brings she shys away from it. But when another actress from the show sets her up on a date with a up and coming star Valerie finds herself more in the spotlight that she wants to be. Will the extra attention prove too much for Valeria or will it uncover something she didn’t know? Add to this mix her old boyfriend Davis. Davis is her first love and after years he has returned into her life. Is the feelings they once had for each other still there? Will insecurities that they both harbour stop them from progressing before it starts? Has Valeria changed to much from the small town girl Davis fell in love with or will this be their chance to get it right this time? This was a well written story with a cast of characters, some I liked and some I didn’t. The author describes all the complex feelings and emotions that Valerie goes through which really allows the reader to understand her. I look forward to reading more.

I am giving this book 4.5 stars because it is a completely new way writing a romance. I am not going to lie the reason I took.5 off in the stars in because, it took me a bit to figure out the flow of the book. I was a little confused when I started it as to how it was going to. My advice to y’all is to keep an open mind and through everything you have thought about romance novels out the windows. Once, I was able to grasp how the author was writing this book, I fell in love with it. I realized that I love the creative way she tackled this story line. The journey to find what truly makes one happy and what they want/need to feel loved completely. The journey of the main character is on of self doubt, finding inner strength, societal pressures, family pressure, loving but not loving enough, and finding what truly makes one happy. Texas Winds by Dana Wayne. This is such a good contemporary romance. Its the story of Lexi who is a strong willed woman trying to put her past behind her. Being left at the altar has left her very skittish and scared. Jake is a handsome, rugged cowboy who is very stand offish. He has a young daughter that he takes care of but Jakes has is own crosses to bear. He found out his wife was cheating on him when she was pregnant and in a coma. Never coming out of a coma his wife passed leaving Jake with a ton of unanswered questions. Raising a daughter alone was never in the plans but he’s doing the best he can. When Lexi falls in love with Jake’s daughter she slowly falls in love with him too. Jake is struggling with his feelings as well. Will they be able to work thru their past and trust each other. Such a good romance!

I don’t think I’ve chuckled through a book this hard all year. My husband thought I had lost my mind. Killer Kaitlyn and Banks had chemistry right off the bat from the moment they met at the airport. He had no clue she was a sports agent and she had no clue he was a hockey player. I loved the verbal sparring all the way through. The multiple POV with the earlier timeline and then to the present gave a really good look at how everything came to be. I loved the writing. This is one of my favorite romance writers. They do a fantastic job of making you feel like you are write their. The characters are so easy to relate to. With antagonists like Ed in the story, you don’t need much else. That guy’s like a slimy snail leaving a trail. It was so worth watching Kait and Bennett work things out and seeing them develop their relationship. You have to read this one. Hit that one-click, you won’t be sorry.

This is the second book in this series which is just as great as the first if not better. I highly suggest reading the previous book in this series as well. I enjoy this author’s books and never hesitate to pick one up by her. This is a well written story about an agent who is tougher than nails and a hockey player who was dropped by his agent. What happens between them is something you don’t want to miss. Will she lose control and will he be the one to do it? I enjoyed both of these characters and what they brought to the story. They are connectable, relatable and their chemistry is off the charts. I enjoyed how they pulled me into their world and how easy they made their story to read. There is great growth throughout which makes the story hard to put down. This is a fast paced, engaging story that you don’t want to miss. I highly recommend this book. You will want to find out if these two will find what they are least expecting.

I love love LOVE this series. Each book is one that I cannot put down. This is book three of five in the series and I cannot wait to read the other two. These will definitely be books that I read over and over. There have been other books by this author that I have enjoyed as well. With each book I’ve read, she has moved closer and closer to the top of my favorite author list. I would say top 10 for sure, maybe top 5. And I read a lot of books. We were introduced to Teivel in the very first book. But now, we see more of his story. I love that each book is a different character, but still, all of the characters tie together in a way. It’s one world, but with a fresh take from a different characters POV. The world building and character building is top notch. If you like paranormal reads, this is for you.

Fay’s Kindness Parade is part of The Adventures of Cray Series and we absolutely loved reading this book. I love that the colorful illustrations bring the story to life and there’s always a lesson to be learned. We flew right through this book several times in a row. Turtle Fay and cray go on an underwater adventure and along the way meet some new friends. This was a sweet heartwarming story about friendship, Kindness and helping others. I highly recommend reading this book to children ages 4-8 but anyone will enjoy it. We look forward to reading more from this Author.

Maggie Sims wrote an amazing historical romance with Charlotte’s Control, the first book in The Control Series. Beware this book does contain adult content, and includes relations that touch base on dominance, and would not be appropriate for a younger audience. That being said, I love reading historical romance books and was very pleased with the atmosphere that the author created through her magnificent use of time-period clothing as well as the subject matter throughout the book. What a sad time it must have been when women were looked upon to be suited more for childbearing and raising children instead of for their intelligence and business sense. Our heroine Charlotte is an extremely intelligent widow, especially when it comes to making investment decisions, which has allowed her to build up her expansive amount of money, as well as help other women to make investments to build up their incomes. William, our lead character is a soon-to-be Earl of Harrington and is expected to take over the family name and title and is expected to marry a well-off woman who may be able to bear an heir. He falls in love with Charlotte from the moment he lays eyes on her, to his mother’s disappointment, because as far as Charlotte knows she is barren and older than William, both of which make her an unsuitable wife. Will William be able to convince his mother, as well as Charlotte that they are meant to be together, or will the rules of society and the wishes of his family prevent them from finding their happily ever after? @Brandy Rymer 04/2024

Unicorn, Don’t Do That! This book is so cute. The illustrations are fantastic. I read it with my grandkids and my 3 year old granddaughter and her big brother and I laughed and giggled throughout the whole book. It is just adorable and so entertaining. All the characters are great and as always with Lois Wickstrom’s book there is a great message of friendship and forgiveness.

Amese of Animalis is the first book in The Borosa Legacy. A wonderfully written fun fantasy book for your middle aged (10-14) experienced reader. Its full of magic, adventure, and action, mystery and so very much more. Amese, who bears the birthmark of Borosa is about to begin an epic adventure, as she is to become a guardian. So many wonderful characters and creatures, all are well devolped. My grandson is 11 and he really loved this book. We can’t wait for book #2.

When she and William lock eyes at a ball he wants to ask her name, but loses sight of her before he can approach her. In hopes that his cousin or good friend know her he asks them, however they do not. At the next big function the host is a common friend and makes an introduction, albeit it’s not full and formal but hasty. It was nice to see their relationship grow organically even become more even with Charlotte’s reservations due to her status. The characters were very likeable and well developed. I also liked that the steamy scenes weren’t so long that they felt overdone, but not so short it didn’t seem like there was any intimacy involved. They were tastefully written. Unicorn, Don’t Do That is a fun kids book by Lois Wickstrom. Stega has been invited to her friend Benny’s house-wetting party. As she goes about finding different gifts for Benny she keeps eating them. As she gets to Benny’s she can’t hold it and poops outside his door. This book was entertaining. My son got a kick out of Stega pooping outside Benny’s door. We got to see Benny embrace Stega’s “handmade gift” and my son did not like Ada’s telling on Stega. The illustrations were wonderful. This book got quite a few laughs from us both. This is a great addition to our book collection.

The reader is introduced to the world of ballet through the eyes of Elena. For someone who is not familiar with ballet, or any dance forms really, this was pretty interesting. This story is filled with secrets, twists, turns, a little bit of levity, and lots of intrigue. It was hard to put this one down and I look forward to future books in this series!

This was a good romantic story and definitely very different from what I was expecting. I was expecting a more traditional HEA book, but this was a very unique rendition of one. The author did a great job of creating such a fun interpretation of Chloe and finding what would make her happy. The unique writing style of the book made it a little confusing at first, but then once I realized what was happening, I enjoyed the format. An enjoyable, romantic read for sure.
Fun and enjoyable story…with beautifully colored illustrations…Unicorn, Don’t Do That! is another great children’s book that is for children 4-8 years of age. This story was definitely entertaining for my great nieces and great nephew and giggles galore.
Touched is the first book in the Elemental Passions series. The long list of authors caught my eye – initially I thought it would be a collection of short stories and when I realised it was a single story written by so many people I was intrigued to see how it turned out. I was impressed – the story felt consistent and considered throughout.
The story switches between the perspectives of its two protagonists – Callum and Aeris. Aeris is a Fae who enjoys visiting and observing humans. Callum is a New Orleans police detective who is suddenly thrust into the world of Fae and other magical beings when he sees Aeris through the glamour that’s supposed to keep her hidden.
This is an exciting fantasy book, with a great cast of characters! My favourite is Trevor the troll, who proves a helpful and knowledgeable ally. I’m looking forward to seeing more of these characters in the next book!
Touched gets five stars from me! I’d recommend it to fans of urban fantasy and paranormal romance looking for a new obsession. I can’t wait to read more from these authors!

This was my first book by this author, but I love a good historical romance novel, so I picked it up on a whim. It was a marvelous start to a series that I can’t wait to read more of! Getting to know Charlotte and William was amazing, and the age gap with an older woman was refreshing. Charlotte felt incredibly relatable, which made the emotions all the stronger. Also, can I get a real-life William please? His entire personality is addictive and swoon worthy. There are some intriguing steamy scenes as well and all tastefully done. I always worry that the author will lean too heavily on the spice allowing the plotline to be subpar. Maggie Sims doesn’t fall into this category as she created well-developed characters and a plot that will stand the test of time. Even the flow of the story is magnificent. If you enjoy historical romances or reverse age gaps, I highly recommend this be your next book. I can’t wait to see what the author has in store for us next!

This children’s book is another great story by this author. It teaches kindness as well as reminding us of our duty to the oceans and environment. This book is beautifully illustrated. It contains facts in a fun but informative way.

Unicorn, Don’t Do That! by Lois Wickstrom is a hilarious and charming children’s book that follows Stega the unicorn as she faces a dilemma on her way to Benny’s house-warming party. The story is simple yet entertaining, with a fun and quirky premise that is sure to make young readers giggle.
The illustrations are colorful and engaging, perfectly capturing the lighthearted nature of the story. The characters are endearing, and the message of friendship and forgiveness is sweetly conveyed.

Stop That Lion is a good story for little kids. I read it with my 8 year old, and he enjoyed it, but i would say his age is the limit. My favorite was when I read the last page and looked over at him, and he was smiling and said she’s smart! The book is a take on the Lion and the Lamb story. There are two kingdoms side by side. One kingdom has sheep and the other has a lion. The lion keeps crossing over, and eating the sheep. The king asks for solutions to the problem, with the stipulation the solution must be fair. Several people fail, and then Winnie approaches the king with her solution. Initially, she is disregarded because she is a little girl, but she presents her case, and the king allows her to try. This teaches us that you sometimes need to rely on others when you’re in need, and should listen to all, without judgment. The illustrations are bright and colorful and aided the story along.

Murder on West Main is the second instalment in the historical South Shore Mystery series set in the early 1900’s. IM as usual does a good job of incorporating the history of the time into the story. What started out as a normal day turned out to be anything but! We once again find ourselves embroiled in this cosy mystery along with coroner’s physician, Daniel in a murder investigation where the victim is an evil and horrid person. Things hot up when he tries to piece it all together to save an innocent man or is he? Kathleen decides to insert herself smack dang in the middle of everything even when the consequences could be fatal. The story definitely keeps you on your toes as you navigate through the clues. Even though I pieced it together before the big reveal I still really enjoyed this tale. Murder on West Main is well written, intriguing, and full of suspense. There is a few twisty turns, mystery, danger, murder, mayhem, angst, and drama. All of that makes for an engaging read and have you immersed in the story and the pages turning. If you like cosy mysteries, then give Murder on West Main a go.

3.5 stars The adventure continues in War in Sorcery’s Shadow the third book and last book of this Epic YA fantasy trilogy. I definitely recommend you start with the previous books starting with the first book Manipulator’s War, so you get to know the characters and the world that they live in. It is an all-inclusive LGBTQ+ action-adventure story with an MC’s who is asexual and nonbinary. Everything is culminating toward the final war as Ruarnon, Linh and friends race against time to bring word to the people who have been lied to. Armed with understanding, knowledge, fear and hope they can defeat a mad man who wants to annihilate them all. As with the other two books there is murder and mayhem, myths and lore, assassins and magic, drama and sorcerers and more. If you love Epic YA fantasy tales, then give this trilogy a go.
