The Cannibal Caper (Sparky of Bunker Hill Mystery Series) by Rosalind Barden. I love this little series about a 11 year old “detective Sparky who lives in the Bunker Hill area in the 1930’s. In this edition of the series Sparky tries to find a cannibal and a jewel thief who is running loose in LA. Sparky has a guardian who is more worried about getting Sparky in school than catching any cannibals or jewel thief. Sparky also makes a new friend who is kind of weird that works at the pet store. Bobby decides to help Sparky find these criminals. Will they be able to find them before someone else gets hurt or their jewels stolen? Read this fun mystery to find out!

I enjoyed reading this suspenseful story. This is not my first book by this author and this is a series that I enjoy reading. This is the sixth book in the series which is just as great as the previous books. I highly suggest reading the previous books as well, it will help your enhancement of this author’s writing skills and the characters. I found this book to be well written and hard to put down. I enjoyed how the author used details to pull me into the character’s lives. They are connectable and keep the story engaging. There is great growth throughout the story which just adds to the story’s entertainment. The twist and turns had me turning pages fast just to see what would happen next. This is a fast paced story that you don’t want to miss. I highly recommend this book and this series.

What a fun book! This is part of the Grandma’s Closet series. Carrie is looking for something fun to do and can’t find anyone to do it with. She remembers the boxes that Grandma left. It’s amazing what a round box marked with Fascinator can do for your imagination. I find the way that the author highlights the action words to point out the movements. Carrie is having fun just looking for fun. The way the author also points out the adjectives like different and unusual shows that using your imagination is okay. Being creative is a good thing. This is a wonderful book and my family always looks forward to new ones from this author. Reading and fun go together so well.
The Round Box is the second book in the Grandma’s Closet’ series by Lois Wickstrom. It is an interesting, illustrated children’s storybook- with a bit of adventure, a touch of drama, a little whimsy, and plenty of imagination. Grandma has some interesting things stored in the closet. What does Carrie find this time? Carrie opens the FASCINATOR box- and finds a special hat that looks like a boat. What happens makes for a cute read. As with the first book in the series- I loved the cover illustration, but was disappointed to find that the interior illustrations are not of the same type/style. The inner illustrations, although quite whimsical in a naïve style- weren’t quite as ‘interesting’ or appealing to me- and I don’t feel that they draw or hold your attention like the cover picture does. The cover picture made me want to find out what happens and captured my imagination- but the inside pictures were a bit lacking- in my opinion. Good Enough is the first book in The Deadman’s Tribe and debut novel by Nicole Craig. I was immediately hooked by the blurb of this book, not realising that it was the author’s debut novel. I had already let my ‘one-click’ finger loose and snapped up a copy before I realised that this was the author’s first book. That made me even more curious to see what she could do. So I found a comfy spot, coffee in hand, and set off on the ’adventure’. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by what I found- engrossed in the story right from the get-go, I wasn’t even halfway through when I decided that I would definitely be keeping a close eye on Ms. Craig and will pounce on anything else she releases. This proved to be a cleverly woven story with a multilayered storyline. Ms. Craig crafted a superb romantic suspense with a protective alpha-type MC, a strong & sassy FMC, a security/military element, with plenty of dramatic developments, twists & turns, chemistry, sparks, connection, danger, violence, tension, intrigue, intensity, mystery, secrets, action, humour, emotion, and more. I loved how well-developed the characters were, and how they were masterfully constructed into fully-realised individuals with their own unique personalities, quirks, and flaws. I loved the cheeky, funny banter, quips, and the team/character’s camaraderie. Getting an alternating, duel POV added depth and intrigue to the story, and I loved being privy to the characters inner dialogue- it really added an extra element of interest to the whole story. This first book has definitely given me a taste for more, and I can’t wait to find out more about the tribe as the series progresses. If you love protective alpha-types, a military/security team vibe, romantic suspense with an engrossing storyline, chemistry, and sparks- then you will definitely want to grab a copy of this to explore… Bring on ‘Bad Enough’ (Book #2 – which is TB’s story). I have to be up front and say I am not usually a short story reader, for some reason I often have trouble connecting properly in a short storyline so I sometimes wonder if that impacts my reading experience. This author however, presents the reader with a real mix of stories with hot shifter alphas and fated mates that I did enjoy. None are what you might typically expect and I love that. Don’t go into reading this with any preconceived ideas, simply start reading and enjoy this fun and unusual collection of stories.

In this book we get to find out the answers to so many questions. Will Oliver truly betray his brother? Will Carson ever get what he really deserves? Here is what I will tell you, Ava realizes that she needs Kingston more than she thought and she wants him. This causes all kinds of internal turmoil for Ava until she believes that he can’t live without her either. When she finally learns to trust Kingston, Ava discovers that other side of him that he doesn’t show anyone. Together, they can be happy.
Kingston keeps his promise to find out who killed Ava’s parents. When Kingston tells Ava the truth, she is devastated. Carson managed to take much more than she thought. When Carson’s current plan to sell Ava and have her declared or found dead so that he can take her part of the inheritance money, Ava plots her revenge.

This is the first book that I have read by Renee W. Peek and color me impressed. First off going by the cover I thought this was going to be a peaceful style read, like a self discovery book but man after reading the description then the book it was a total 180. This book was filled with dystopian, end-of-the-world action, hope, tension, and top notch drama. As the book went on the more I loved it. I also loved the characters (most lol) and the amazing worlds the author has built (with great in depth details)really made the story pop off the page, playing like a movie. I really enjoyed that some characters can speak to gaia, I thought that was interesting. The multiple POV was awesome too, I often find myself wondering how the other characters were feeling and thinking this helps. I HIGHLY recommend reading this story.. I’m already on the way to read the next book of this series. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

A Heart So Savage is the duet that goes with A King So Savage, the question is where did we leave off? I actually liked this book better than the first one. Both are very dark but have breaks of light in them. This one definitely has a bit more light. The author pretty much picks up where the previous book left off. Ava’s brother has decided not to pay, sealing her fate. She now belongs to Kingston completely, mind, body, and soul. Which doesn’t sit well with her. He’s a monster that flirts with pleasure and pain. Yet she is confused because she enjoys it. Will she stay or find a way out? Kingston makes it his mission to keep Ava safe. And even though he’s not safe, she’s safest with him. Now that he has his prize, he knows that his brother as well as Ava’s will stop at nothing to destroy him. They don’t care that Ava will be a casualty in their wake. One problem he needs to remain the vicious beast of his reputation, but Ava’s changing him. Will his attraction and affection for her be his downfall? As stated at the beginning this is book 2 of a duet. You need to read book 1 first, you will be sorely disappointed if you don’t. I don’t usually like books that have these types of dark themes but these two were pretty good. The author made sure of that.

This was definitely a unique way of having a book set up. It’s been a while since I’ve read a book that’s purposely set up to have two books inside of it that weren’t originally published on their own. (Unless they were, and I missed the memo on it). That being said, I highly enjoyed the(se) book(s), and I absolutely adored the chemistry between the characters that. I love this author’s works, and every time I see a new release for their books, I always make sure to snatch it up and recommend it to everyone.

Sweet Dreams by Claire: A Small Town Feel-Good Delicious Irish Romance (Capture the Light, Book 2)
This was a sweet and enjoyable introduction to Ms. Littlestone and her writing. I got lost in the story and had to be reminded to put it down.
Claire made the Mama in me want to hold and encourage her to follow all of her dreams. She has such an amazing talent in the kitchen and I hated to see her talents stiffled. Thankfully she has her Grandmother there for support and love and to guide her where she needs to be.
Finn is in a similar situation as Claire with having his dreams dismissed by his parent. He meets Claire while there for his sister’s wedding.
They have fun, get in trouble and fall for one another. He is so good for her, he grounds her and helps her let loose and heal.
This can be read as a standalone, but there is information and details in the first book that would be helpful to know. I will go back to read the first one and keep and eye out any new books.

Both of these books kept me glued to the pages and I had a hard time putting them down. This author never fails to amaze me with her writing style and ability to pull me into the stories. Bryanna and Damien’s story. Damien works for an elite security team and he is tasked to find Bryanna. Damien had no idea that he would feel so strongly toward her when he found her. Bryanna would do anything to keep her family safe. She wants to trust Damien but doesn’t know if she can. This is a must read to find out what happens. Dereck and Layla’s story. When Dereck was asked to do a favor he definitely wasn’t prepared to encounter a feisty woman. Layla doesn’t trust anyone and she will do anything to save her sister and friend. The chemistry between these is undeniable. I don’t want to give anything away so I’m just going to say this is a must read. Both of these stories have great characters, suspense, romance, danger and more. I highly recommend reading this.

The Uncrowned King is the second book in The Blood Prince Series by Ayla Marie and it is just as exciting and emotional as the first! This book continues where the first left off and finds Leo and his family in Arkezo, the home of his father and other blood relatives. Leo, Cael, and the others are trying to navigate a new city, lots of new information regarding Leo’s lineage and the history between the different people, as well as dealing with more loss. At times, I almost felt overwhelmed with emotion myself. There are just as many twists and turns in this story as the first and it kept me on the edge of my seat the entire book! Ayla Marie’s world building is spectacular! The sights, sounds, and smells of the city permeate off the page to transport the reader into the story. Not to give too much away, but it seems as though Leo’s story will continue and I am anxiously awaiting when it does!

Ayla Marie is a new author for me, and definitely one I will read again! The Blood Prince is the first of two books focused on Leo and his family. There is so much more emotion in this book than I was suspecting. Leo’s bond with his siblings is so pure and they are all so protective of one another; it’s amazing to feel through the pages of a book. The characters are so realistically flawed and believable that I couldn’t help but feel connected to them somehow. This young adult fantasy was not a quick read, but rather, one to curl up with and immerse yourself in. The world building of Ayla Marie is as fantastical as the content of the story! I found myself walking through the woods with the Hael family, wandering the filthy streets of Somereil, and exploring the wonder of the city of Wate. There were so many twists to this adventure that I was kept on my toes throughout the entirety of the book. I cannot wait to read the next book!

Kingdom of 7 Sovereigns was an amazing fantasy novel, the author is a genius when it comes to writing such words that the story just came to life as I read it. I loved the take on bringing the sovereigns from the 7 kingdoms together, so you get to see the different types of characters interacting with one another, even if they are normally considered mortal enemies when in their kingdoms. There was so much excitement, and intrigue in piecing together the clues about the characters and their agendas (especially those deeply hidden as gems in the story) that could be so easily missed if you weren’t paying attention. The author put a whole new spin on the fantasy world that has me hooked, I just saw that there is a mini prequel book that I am going to go back and read before moving on to book 2 in this series. If you are a huge fan of all types of fantasy creatures, then this is the perfect next book series for you to read! Lost Property is the 6th book in the Tom Grant Series, but the first one I read. I felt like I was missing out on a lot of the relationships… even after finishing, I am struggling to piece together how everyone is related. Aside from that, I really enjoyed the book. It was action packed with crime and suspense. The book is focused around a kidnapping and human trafficking ring, but it isn’t very disturbing. It more focuses on the process of tracking down the missing girls, and trying to figure out the bad guys along the way. I kind of wish the author put a little more recap into the story, as far as why Tom is recently retired. How Martha is related to him. Where he met Mischa and background on their relationship. Tom and James don’t get along, but I am not entirely sure why…. Guess I need to go back and read the first 5 books to get my answers. I enjoyed the writing style and will be adding this author to my read lists.

*three book series so this review covers all 3 books!* Marcy was becoming successful, opening her own bakery. Finding the perfect employees and of course finding Brad. Finding her best friend Jill, life seems to be falling into place perfectly. However two years into her relationship eith Brad, Marcy starts to change and becomes angry first its small things but she starts to explode on her employees, her customers and Brad. Shes also having severe nightmares and doesnt know why. Brad becomes legitimately concerned and they have a blow out fight where Marcy pushes Brad and he finally walks away ending their relationship. She goes to see Brad the next day and sees him with his secretary with her hands on his arm and she’s furious, so she heads home but needs gas on the way. Her heightened anger comes in handy when she finds herself held at gunpoint at a gas station. She manages to disarm the robber easily with her martial arts training, and she moves onto the next gas station to finally get what she needs. While there Tall dark and broody Liam approaches her for help and tells her a heartbreaking story of how his family was murdered and he’s seeking revenge. He wants her to help him on his mission to seek revenge for his family. Once Marcy gets home from all the excitement from the gas station Brad apologizes and proposes to her! She accepts. Brad then has to go out of town and Liam reaches out to Marcy to help him with several groups of thugs and criminals thought to be connected to his families death and she readily agrees. Liam gives her a burner phone and she forgets her regular phone for several days. When she finally checks it finding Brad leaving more and more angry voice-mail because she isn’t answering, which ends in Marcy having a mental breakdown. Brad immediately ends their engagement. Wanting to get away Marcy remembers Liam talking about a little cabin she might be able to decompress in so she calls Liam, they spend two weeks together where Marcy falls in love with Liam but she can’t deny she’s still in love with Brad. Upon her return home she finds Brad has called everywhere and shown up all over desperate to find her. Marcy tells Brad about Liam and he asks her never to see Liam again if she wants to stay with Brad. The suspense continues to intensify throughout this book, and what are these nightmares she’s having ? Do they mean something? Can her and her therapist break through? Which man will she ultimately choose? Great suspense and Romance in one 3 book set!

Wonderfully enjoyable story! I loved the world and character building. The ran a bit slow at times since it is giving information from a variety of sources. Not a lot of action but lots of suspense. Thay necromancer…..such a troublemaker!! I enjoyed the fantasy theme and that each book will be about a different child and kingdom but filled mostly with characters we have already met. Very cool!
