Lapidius is book one in the A Nation Found series by Matthew Runals. An enchanting combination of a military school and monsters. I adored this idea, and it reminded me of Enders Game which I also absolutely loved. This is intended as a YA dystopian fiction but this does also have some of the heavier themes that come with war. This was an amazing read, and a new author to me. I ate this book right up, and I heavily look forward to reading what’s next!

This is the first book in A Nation Found Series and the first book I have read by this author. This is a YA adult fantasy adventure which has so much happening that it will keep you on the edge of your seat. I wasn’t too sure what to expect going into this book however I was not disappointed. The author opens us up to a world where it seems all hope is lost until the youth are given something to fight for. The characters is the book are well written and I loved how the boys had banter between themselves just as you know that boys do in real life. Every aspect of this book was well thoughtout out and the characters and surroundings were brought to life.
Joey and his friends and their family’s are struggling to survive as times are hard and their town is losing all hope. To save their son’s, Joey and his friends are sent to Lapidius. Lapidius is a school where the boys will be educated and feed well. However things aren’t all that they seem and when they arrive the boys realise the Lapidius is more of a training camp that a school and they are being trained to fight a war that gets closer by the day. Add to this all the mystery that surrounds Lapidius, the monsters and the adventures that Joey and his friends find themselves on and this becomes one book that you will not be able to put down.

A good book to end the series with. I haven’t read book one, just two and three but even in book two I never thought of Abby being part of the Whittier family. I wanted to scream at all the towns people who were against her as soon as they found out who she was. And the entire time my anxiety was going thinking the lawyer was going to screw her over in the end, good news, he doesn’t. I’m glad her friends didn’t turn on her when she told them the news of her true identity. Not going to lie, I was on and off about Joe. Some parts of the book I couldn’t wait for them to be together and other parts I was like is this really the guy she’s going to be with? But I am glad they got there happily ever after. I recommend to all clean, slow burn, romance readers.

I love finding books with shifters that aren’t the usual wolf and bear. This one has vultures, jackals and bats. I thought it was interesting that the vultures help send souls over into underworld. I would love to know more about the shifters and how their world works since vultures really can’t leave their city and I’m not sure if it’s all shifters or only that no one can marry a jackal and vulture. It’s all interesting. The story also includes romance and a little spice. I enjoyed the short story and am now trying to find the series to learn more about the world.
I LOVED this book!!! It had me hooked from the beginning. This is a fun, quick read with a lot of flirting and some serious SPICE. The humor comes through in the dialogue of characters. Nikoli and Chole are FANTASTIC characters. I loved the banter between the characters.

I’ve read several books by this author and I’m amazed by her attention to detail and her characters are fully developed and relatable. I don’t want to give anything away. This is the third book in the Match Made in Montana series. It is a wonderful romance series based in a small-town country setting that is so beautifully portrayed. Each of our main character’s stories continues throughout each of the books, as well as focusing on a new set of couples. Each of the new couples needs to work through whatever situation is causing contention between the two before finding they have such a deep connection and shows how true love knows no bounds. What a great series this is, so old-fashioned in the morals of the people, it’s such a refreshing, feel-good read. I hope that you all enjoy reading this series as much as I did, I cannot wait to read more from Rachelle Paige Campbell, who has such a magical writing style that combines old-fashioned beliefs with romance that gives you hope for a brighter future. I am a huge fan of Pride and Prejudice, and I love reading variation books, especially when they follow along with the original storyline. In this book, we get to follow Miss Georgiana as she seeks to find a potential mate so she may start her own family. What a wonderful short read this was. If you are a fan of the original characters then you will want to read this book, because we get to read about how many of the past characters are doing and learn of their fates. T. L. Clark did a great job matching the writing style and being true to the period from the setting to the speaking patterns of the character. This is a wonderfully illustrated children’s book. Each child trying to catch a piglet on the run is entertaining and fun. I would recommend the reading to a child that has moderate to advanced reading skills.

Cam Creates a Hero is the second book in the Courage Tales series by Dagmara Sitek, who has lovingly crafted another wonderfully meaningful children’s story – with lovely, colourful illustrations that help to bring the story to life.

With a whole lot of determination, planning, persistence, trial + error, and a touch of magic – Hero Bot Georgio comes to life. This little adventure is aimed at children aged 6 to 12 years-old — but I feel there is value to the story that will ensure that the book can be enjoyed and appreciated by all ages. This is not only a cute tale but teaches valuable life lessons along the way. Inspiring emotional empathy/compassion, creativity, persistence, strength of character, kindness, resilience, following your dreams, problem solving, and more. Cam feeling so sad and upset decides to make a hero robot that will help protect little kids. After seeing the robot is not working; Cam has a dream about Giorgio and writes a book that he can share with his foster family and the sick kids in the hospital. The kids loved it so much it brought Giorgio to life.
To think the magic that was found all started with a simple drawing and a dream.
I think it’s an adorable book about determination, dreams and empathy for those around us; how we can bring light and magic to others. We can achieve our goals with a little determination, dreams and a little bit of magic inside us.
I love the story behind the book. Well written and very inspiring. I would give it 5 stars if the chat boxes were easier to follow in order of conversation (thinking from a child’s perspective). Overall the message it sends is hope, love for others and we all have a little bit of magic in ourselves.
The name “Georgiana Darcy” was enough for me to pick this book, it is a spin off sequel of the iconic classic, Pride and Prejudice. It is always a pleasure to read any variation of the classic. This book, however is a very short one, with just 4 chapters. It opens up directly into the P&P setting, happily married Darcy and Elizabeth , the shy and reserved Georgiana, who is still not brave enough to step into the society after her setback with Mr Wickham. She asks Elizabeth to help, and what can attract suitors better than a grand ball ! Will Georgina find her match amongst the suitors? I loved this book, I only hoped that it could have been a little longer. As the setting builds up, the book ends and the reader is left craving for more. But I will not let the length of the book obstruct the sheer joy of going back to the P&P era. It was unexpected for me and I loved every bit of it.

Lapidus By Matthew Runals is a good book for dystopian readers it also has action scenes. It takes place around war and shows how the world can be tragic. The school has many secrets and some fantasy scenes while it teaches them how they are fighting for their country. The kids also have to fight monsters, and they are in a war. A fast-paced edge of the seat thriller, this book is about James Sheldon, a former detective who has fallen into a pit of deep despair. A Pig and a Poke is a children’s book, that while we’ll written, I didn’t like the topic. I chose to read it because my son and i have enjoyed other picture books by this author. I didn’t even know what was going on, and had to google it. Apparently its pig wrestling or pig scramble- was well described in the story. Angela and other children are chasing a pig around a pen, trying to catch it. If they can hold on long enough, they “win” the pig. The author did a good job portraying how the children may feel, tired, defeated, and finally, victorious. But, since I think this activity is pretty mean for the animal, I wouldn’t recommend this book to others. Read others by this author instead.

I love this series! Knowing this book would be about Abby & Joe had me anxious to find out more. But right from the start, I was not expecting the information told. From the beginning I was shocked and ready to find out more. I enjoyed having Ryan & Meg along with Ted & Stephanie weaved in. Learning little bits about them was nice. As usual, Hank really brings it all together and learning more about him and his history was great. This is a wonderful addition to the series and I truly enjoyed it.

Kids everywhere are going to love this story of Luca and his art class! Adults will love it too! I laughed out loud at several pages of instances that Luca was imagining himself in. The illustrations are very well done and colorful. I love the rhyming in the book and the story if very fun and imaginative! Time to get creative and ask your littles, “what would you do with glue?!”
Abby Witt moved to town 2 years ago. She’s won over almost everyone in town, except Joe Staunch. Joe can’t figure out what it is about her that makes him feel like this. When Abby’s secret is revealed Joe realizes that maybe he’s been wrong about her all along. Will they be able to put aside their own insecurities and finally get their happy endings?
I enjoyed the storyline of the book but I found the writing style to be very choppy. I felt that this made the story harder to follow. I found the supporting characters to be flat. I really like books that have well developed supporting characters. This could also be because I haven’t read the first books in the series. Perhaps if I had I might have learned more about the town and it’s residents.

Lapidius is the first book in the A Nation Found series. It’s a children’s series with a magic boarding school and a big tournament-type thing that will appeal to fans of similar series. The dystopian setting is thought-provoking and creates situations where the children are in danger.
There’s a fun group of characters at the centre of this story. As they learn to cope with the rigorous military training and intense social dynamics at Lapidius their strengths, weaknesses and priorities are highlighted. I like that there are a lot of times we see the kids helping each other out!
I would recommend this more for teen/YA readers. Children who are confident readers and are comfortable reading more violent scenes would also enjoy it, and I think it could be a fun book to read together as there is plenty to discuss around the ethics and decisions of different characters.
This book gets four stars from me. I enjoyed the excitement and adventure, and there’s plenty of worldbuilding that has gone into it. I look forward to reading more of the series!

4.5 stars Cam Creates A Hero is an engaging and captivating read for the curious and kind at heart. Imagine wanting something and it comes to life right out of your drawing. I imagined the Transformers sounds when he came to life. Your very own hero bot. It is thanks to Lau Franks wonderful colourful illustrations that this story comes to life. This is the second engaging educational tale in the Courage Tales series where fostering children’s self-esteem, emotional wellbeing and feeling safe for those in foster care is the name of the game. As with Loris Opens Up His Heart this one will hit you in all the feels as well. It teaches valuable and important life lessons all rolled up in a great tale. Cam has a big heart and doesn’t want anyone being hurt if he can help it. What would be more help than a robot that could defend those who are in need of defending. Its not just a story there are added goodies to be found as well. Happy Reading.
This author… I am obsessed with her books. I cannot get enough of them. She has a way of putting an entire world in a short book. This one is no different. A part of me was like wait, I need more! But it didn’t leave me feeling like I was missing anything. I would probably still feel that way if she wrote a book that was 700 pages long. Her books are cozy. Not really like a cozy, fireplace, leaf vibe. More like a witchy, supernatural, potions and magic kind of cozy, if that makes sense. On to the actual story here. This story has shifters. Not the usual wolves though. There is nothing usual about this author’s stories. In this one, we have a few different ones. Including the main character – a vulture shifter. Acheron, leaves his safe place to follow a “call within”. Why did he feel this? Was it a mistake to follow this pull? Can he get his happy ending? Read to find out! Seriously, you need to read.
This was a really sweet book. Cam is a foster kid with a mission. There are a few darker mentions in this story, so be prepared. It is handled very well though. I believe in kids knowing these types of things happen in life. This author touches on them gently and beautifully. This story mentions real life things, including heavy emotions, but also includes a little imagination for the young reader. Cam feels a lot of sadness and tries to build a robot. Can he succeed? Is there hope out there when so many bad things happen? This is the perfect book to answer that question.
This is a chunky book. At over 400 pages, it’s defintely on the larger size to tackle. However, it needed to be. There was so much detail and world building in this story. There was just so much altogether. You get sucked into a different time and place. It is exactly what you want from a book. This book is geared towards kids, but more so the teenage years. (Depending on the child) Though this is a heavy book with a TON of detail, it is easy to read. The main character finds himself in what is to be like a military school. He soon has a group of friends who are all training essentially for a game. This will get them ready for the war that is brewing around them. These friends soon discover that there are monsters and magic within.

I have to say I am not usually a short story reader or a huge fan of Historical romances but this talented author with her creative storylines and wonderful writing may just have changed my mind. I guess you would call this a spin off of Pride and Prejudice as it features one of its characters Miss Georgiana Darcy. She was completely new to me though as I haven’t actually read Pride and Prejudice. I truly was drawn into her story and my heart was so invested! read this book today! you won’t regret it.

I wish this book had been out when I was in college! I think this will definitely help new college students. The author gives new perspectives on both perfection and procrastination. She takes the shame away from learning how to manage your time. As a high school special education teacher, I might even purchase copies for my graduating seniors.

I picked up this book expecting quite a fun and lighthearted kids story. But what we got felt like it was so much more than that. I loved the fact that Cam is a foster kid. This is something we have talked about as a family quite a lot recently as one of our close friends has an adopted little girl. And although there is a difference, this really helped to reinforce the message of being able to choose your family and who you want to love! The book itself was really well written and genuinely a joy to read. We all seemed to get so much from this book and both my kids and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This is one of those books that seems to stay with you long after reading it and I personally already cannot wait to read it again! I would highly recommend this book.
Lapidius (A Nation Found Book 1) is a YA Dystopian Fiction full of mystical creatures and monsters all around. While this is intended as a YA, there is some violence and heavier content that comes with a military/war setting, and some parents may not be comfortable with this. The story is a coming of age, incorporating family and friendship bonds, building trust, and young teens finding themselves in a harsh world. When the war comes too close to home, Joey’s mother sends him away to a military school, Lapidius, to keep him safe and to ensure he has food and shelter. Lapidius is not just your every day run of the mill school though, it is a school to hone and perfect skills in a magical world. The kids must learn to trust each other, and themselves, in order to survive. This is a bit on par with Hunger Games or Maze Runner, but also unique and completely different. The setting and characters are believable and easy to follow, with plenty of action. I liked that the ending left things open for more to follow and things can go in so many different directions, so I am interested to see what the next book brings.

Cam wants to do something about it so he creates a robot that is meant to help protect. Upon it not working he gets upset. This book will show you the art of story telling and how the power it can have in healing. With beautiful illustrations we get to see all the children and have a very beautiful visualization through the art work. This is a great story to tell your children and grandchildren along with generations yet to come. it shows them the importance of story telling and its healing power through words and art.
