Susan Specht Oram has become one of my go to authors for thrillers. This one definitely was exactly what I love about her writing, it is entertaining, suspenseful, and full of twists and turns. The Mother’s Threat features a female main character named Violet Cleveland who was incredibly relatable. She was a woman who listened to what I call her “spidey senses”. Her parents definitely were an added part to the twists and turns in the story. They were definitely a distraction for Violet but I definitely related to her worry for them. Violet (and this whole story) was emotionally charged and I found that as a large part of what I loved about the story. It kept me reading and wondering how Violet was going to handle certain situations. There were many times where I thought I would have lost my cool only to see Violet continue to try to keep a calm head and her new business open and in tact. This book was legitimately so good and I definitely loved all the twists and turns in this story. Violet was the perfect main character and her parents were the perfect opposite to her. I definitely recommend this story for anyone who loves a good thriller or anyone who loves a good strong female lead with a complicated family.
