Notebook Mysteries ~ Suspicions (Notebook Mysteries book #5)Notebook Mysteries ~ Suspicions by Kimberly Mullins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The author really knocks it home with this one! Two previous storylines wrap up in this book. I really like how a former plot that was only so-so resolved, became well and truly resolved. Characters that have previously been on the bench, so to speak, get brought up to bat in this story. The author gives nods to history, with a famous detective agency, as well as bicycles, and the still-new automobiles. This book features a strong female protagonist, and loving family/chosen family bonds.

Savage Lies (Hidden Valley Elite Book 1) by Isla Vaughn – Review by Shannon Fowler

Savage Lies: A High School Bully Romance (Hidden Valley Elite Book 1)Savage Lies: A High School Bully Romance by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This story is a continuation from Savage Start so definitely start there. Teenager Riley and her mother are con artists. However, it seems that mom has had a change of heart. She insists that this is the real deal and that Riley can be a normal teenager. Riley isn’t sure of anything anymore. Including the attraction to Cole.
Teenager Cole is considered the high school’s elite and he’s the football star. Everyone wants to be with him or be him. Cole is typical in that he is mad at his parents and the world. However, Riley enters his world and things are a little more interesting but why all the lies? What is the truth about her and her mother?

This story is a really good teen angst story. Everything seems like the end of the world. They know it all. Noone loves them. Parties, football and hatred for the parents. This author seems to know teenagers.

I am left with questions as this story ended on a cliffhanger. So I am looking forward to reading the next story, Savage Truth.

Oh WOW!
This is my 1st read from this author and I was NOT disappointed. I instantly fell in love with the leading female character. She is strong and stubborn and everything I look for in a leading lady. Our leading man was no let down either. I was instantly drawn to their chemistry. I felt their attraction. I knew without a doubt that this story was going to leave me wanting more, and it DID. I want to live in this world. I want to befriend these characters. I need to visit the Inn and befriend that townspeople. C.R. Alam has done an AMAZING job of creating a place you WANT to be, and I am here to tell you, I WANT TO BE THERE. Thank you so much for creating a world for us to get lost in.

This is another sizzling romance story! Unexpected Entanglement is the third book in The Echo Series by C. R. Alam. Chris Sullens and Rowen Kelly are a really fun and steamy couple. Chris is a handsome and wealthy hotelier that finds himself entangled in a fake romance with sassy, beautiful Rowena that now runs the family inn. These two were so great together. I loved the witty banter and the passion between these two. Another plot that has you on the edge of your seat. Although I’ve enjoyed all the books in this series, this one was my favorite!

Calliope is trying to rebuild her life but her past keeps coming back to haunt her. I really enjoyed the story of Brandon and Calliope. I loved Brandon as Rae’s best friend from Book 1. He and Calliope are awesome together. Their chemistry is nice and steamy. They are really enjoyable together. Once again the characters are relatable and well-written. The plot is well-paced and keeps you hooked. Another great book.

Rowan Kelly thought her life was all planned out until she finds out a secret that was carefully hidden. Now the improvements she is hoping for for her inn. When Chris Sullens ends up in town offering his help and to get a sense of the inn, she never expects it to be in a fake relationship. As they get closer though they find the chemistry is too much to ignore, what happens when they fall for one another.

Another great story from this author. Rowan is full of sass and I liked that the emotions for her and her sister were a bit raw, it fit with the plot. Chris is great, he has some swagger and the attraction between Rowan and Chris is undeniable.

Unexpected Entanglement
By: C. R. Alam

This is the third book in the Echo Series. This brings what readers of C.R. Alam have learned to love. A great plot, characters that feel like they could be someone that you know and some love.
Chris is such an amazing character. I love that he is a famous entrepreneur but he is able to come into a small town and really fit in and doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb. Rowan has come into an inn and she is pouring her heart and soul into fixing it up. She is facing a serious deadline, the inn needs to be up and running before her cousin’s wedding.
Chris is a famous hotelier. His hotels are located all over the world. But being in this small town he knows how to get things not only done but done well.
What happens when Chris and Rowan’s paths meet? What begins as a fake entanglement may just become something more.
I definitely recommend reading this book and the others in the echo series. Each book is a stand alone but I wouldn’t miss a single one as they are all excellent.

Dean Rowland has sworn off women after being left at the altar by his fiancee. When the two inevitably meet, sparks fly. This was a very well-written story. The characters are real and relatable. The chemistry between Rae and Dean is amazing. I really enjoyed watching them build and navigate their relationship. I highly recommend this book.

They had so much chemistry between them and they fit together so well. they were entertaining to read about and I thought they made the whole book so engaging. The story was well written and thoroughly enjoyable. I do love a fake fiancé style book and this was a brilliant example.

Unexpected Entanglement (Book 3 of the Echo Series)Unexpected Entanglement by C.R. Alam
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Having read and enjoyed the previous two books in the series I was looking forward to this story, and I found it as entertaining and engaging as the others. Although the characters do crossover it can be read as a standalone story. Although the inn which Rowan Kelly has inherited is not as ready or as staffed as she would like, she’s determined to provide her cousin with a beautiful wedding held there. Meanwhile, well known hotelier Chris Sullens had planned on staying in Vinalhaven for just twenty four hours, but finds himself offering to help the beautiful but fiery innkeeper plan a wedding.
Rowan knows she should be flattered by Chris’s help and use his expertise but she just finds him nosy, and a bit charming. Despite their obvious mutual attraction and sizzling chemistry, they both try to keep things professional, and we’re doing well until Chris finds himself playing the role of Rowan’s fiancé. However, the couple have to work together as strange events seem to threaten not only the wedding and the inn’s future, but also Rowan’s safety. The storyline flows well and the plot kept me hooked throughout. Both main characters are likeable and relatable, who’s chemistry really came across in the narrative. This heartwarming romantic suspense story was a real page turner.

Unexpected Entanglement (The Echo Series Book 3) by C.R. Alam – Review by Tara Johnson Barnes

Unexpected Entanglement (Book 3 of the Echo Series)Unexpected Entanglement by C.R. Alam
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Unexpected Entanglement is the third book in The Echo Series. It centers around Rowan who has been working hard to restore a rundown inn that has been in her family for years. Her father was working with her to restore the inn until his sudden passing. Before her father died, he told Rowan a deep dark secret that he has kept hidden from her and her brother all their lives. This secret shocks Rowan to the core and alters the course of future events in her life.

Fast forward several months and a wealthy hotelier named Chris has arrived at Vinalhaven. As a man who owns hotels all over the world he is well known and well respected in the hotel industry. His plan was to only remain for twenty-four hours and do some snooping around on the owners of Vinalhaven. However, his plans quickly change when he offers to help Rowan who is fighting a tight deadline to get the inn ready for her cousin’s upcoming wedding.

Although both Chris and Rowan try to remain professional about their arrangement, they find it hard to deny their attraction to one another. When he gets roped into playing the role of Rowan’s doting fiancé things take a turn. Suddenly things between them sizzle and the sparks between them start to fly. Will Rowan and Chris be able to work together when things start to go wrong at the inn and its future is at stake? Is there a future between the two of them? Is there a future for the inn?

The chemistry between Rowan and Chris was undeniable and it was interesting to see where the story was going. Especially since Chris was at Vinalhaven to basically spy on Rowan and her brother. Obviously, a heart wants what it wants, and attraction is hard to deny. The long-lost family member part of the story was intriguing and gave the storyline an interesting twist. I needed to read farther and see if there would be a family reunion of sorts between the siblings and how that would go. This book had mystery, drama, chemistry, passion, unexpected romance, and a twist with long-lost siblings.

I really enjoyed the way this author weaves the romantic suspense and steam into the third book of this series. Even though this is full of complicated emotions, I felt a connection with each of the characters. The level of detail that went into the characters and settings were top level. My favorite by far was Rowan. She is so feisty and independent, until she meets Chris. They melt into each other and there is plenty of spice involved. I appreciated the thoroughness of the plot, so the author didn’t just rely on the tantalizing scenes to carry the story. Even though they have PLENTY of chemistry, is there a happily ever after for these two, or is it just a short stint they’ll look back on fondly?

I enjoyed how Alex, the main character in How to Make a Flying Carpet, is an ordinary kid, showing any young person they can be an inventor. Alex also exhibits growth mindset, having to try multiple inventions to succeed in solving problems.

Alex also shows perseverance and grit, which are characteristics I appreciate in children’s literature. An added feature are 2 pages about Earth’s magnetic field and diagrams about the field. You have to read the book to discover what Alex builds instead of a flying carpet!

Unexpected Entanglement (Book 3 of the Echo Series)Unexpected Entanglement by C.R. Alam
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the 3rd book in The Echo Series. I highly recommend reading the books in order so you get a better feel for the characters as previous characters show up in this story. However it could be read as a standalone because it mainly focuses on the two main characters Chris and Rowan.
This story has a mixture of everything. The romance is a slow burn as circumstances mean that Chris and Rowan have to pretend to be a couple. So what happens when faking being in love actually turns into the real thing? This is something neither of them expected to happen or were looking for. All Chris had to do was help Rowan pull off her cousins wedding, but as attraction sizzled between them and strange things started happening he knew there was no way he could walk away from her.

As a reader you can’t help but fall in love with the characters which just goes to show how much love and character the author puts into them. They are more than just words on a page you can imagine them as living breathing beings and you feel every emotion they go through. I really enjoyed this emotional heartfelt story.

Unexpected Entanglement (Book 3 of the Echo Series)Unexpected Entanglement by C.R. Alam
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love the Echo series !! This 3rd book is just as fantastic as the other 2. None of the characters resemble each other & none of the storylines are even close to the same . There is always an element of excitement, along with some steamy spots, but mostly they are so wholesome. Chris is such a great guy & it was wonderful to see him find love! I didn’t really care for Rowan & I would have liked to see Chris be loved as freely & enthusiastically as he deserved. She was very negative & self denying & hurt his feelings too often for me. It was kind of annoying. However, she was a tough cookie & courageous. There were good qualities in her, & her love for Chris & Rae were the most important thing. Plus, grief has a profound impact on personality & the author showed that beautifully. I LOVED that Rae finally got to meet her sister & brother, & loved even more that it was her friend & sister that connected. The bit of mystery was also done phenomenally & really kept me uncertain right up to the reveal. Even though I thought I knew, I still thought it could have been different too. I’m so excited to read more of these books & I hope we get a Kieran & Frankie story from this amazing author!

The Crown of Stones: Magic-Borne (The Crown of Stones Book 3) by C.L. Schneider – Review by Desiree Ottinger

Magic-Borne (The Crown of Stones #3)Magic-Borne by C.L. Schneider
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ian Troy has taken the power of the crown into himself to keep his father from using it against the realm. As he continues to figure out the cost of that decision, he is faced with a dire vision of a future he’s not sure he can change. However, to save those he loves, he will do what it takes to see peace. Or will he? Inevitably he and his friends face death and destruction in the final showdown with his father. Will the cost be too great for Ian? Or will peace finally reign?

This was the final book in this series of Ian Troy and The Crown of Stones. It was a good closing to an epic ride, but also left it open for the next series to spin off. Ian’s sacrificial love for those who are part of his inner circle, is that of deep familial love. He drew people from different backgrounds together and built a chosen family that fought and sacrificed for each other. There were times that he was surprised that others would take up for him, even though he would -without question- stand for them. I think a lot of people think the same way. We would sacrifice for the ones we love but are surprised when they choose to do the same for us.

I enjoyed this series. I was a little sad that it was the ending, but then happily surprised to find out that there is a spin off in the works!

If you love a second chance romance, read this. Mitch & Lauren were happily in love but some hardships got in the way. They’re married but will they stay married? Mitch has his doubts & Lauren doesn’t see what she’s doing wrong at first. Characters are all great and I’ve loved this series but this book made me feel everything. Made me feel happy, sad, angry, hopeful! They both have made terrible mistakes and keep wanting to point the finger at one another. It’s a HEA but the road getting there, is a bit rough. Great writing and great story though. Shows that all marriages aren’t perfect and we all go through things. Shows second chances are possible and people can change. Shows that nothing is impossible and things can work out if you fight for it.

How to Make a Flying Carpet (Alex, the Inventor #2)How to Make a Flying Carpet by Lois Wickstrom
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

3 Stars

How to Make a Flying Carpet is the second book in Alex, the Inventor series by Lois Wickstrom. It is an illustrated children’s story about making a flying carpet. It includes some science on magnets, magnetic fields, Earth’s Magnetic field, and what makes metal magnetic. Alex is an inventor and likes to make useful things out of unused and ‘old’ items. So we follow along as she brainstorms ideas for making things, and get to see her invent things.
This is probably the ‘wordiest’ of Ms. Wickstrom’s books that my grandson and I have read, so far. But it did inspire him to want to try to make his own ‘flying carpet’- so it did capture his imagination.

Happy reading!

What a fun story that helps teach the science of magnets. I found the paper clip trick to be the most exciting trick that I want to try. My grandson wants to try everything with magnets. He loves magnets and this story just helps build his interest. A fun story written for the curious child. The information at the end of the story helps teach the child more about magnetism. It’s a fun book that helps your child learn and discover more. My grandson said his favorite fact that he wanted to learn more about was why magnets repel each other. Another fun and terrific book.
