Emily is a detective who has worked hard to get to where she is. But despite that, there are people on the force who are not her friends. When she finds a big case that could make her career, she enlists Cutter, the SAA, for a local MC. But it has to be underwraps. This is a DDLG dynamic, and if that is your thing, this is definitely for you. As a reader who prefers a full plot with a little spice vs. all spice and little plot, this wasn’t my favorite. The conversations between characters were sometimes written in a way that didn’t sound like how people actually talk to each other, and I found that pulling me out. All in all, if this is the type of trope and dynamic you’re into, this is for you.

Fade into the night, is part of the Philly Heat series by Becky Flade. I have read a couple of books in this series but they can be read as a stand alone. This book is a romantic thriller following FBI agent Noah as he searches for a serial killer called the Beltway Romeo, who is targeting single women before mutilating them before staging their bodies. When his professional life overlaps into his personal life, his friend Sadie is targeted by the killer and finds herself being hurt and at risk. This is a really enjoyable thriller, the story is fast paced and I love how Sadie didn’t just sit back and become a victim of her circumstances. I would recommend this to lovers of this genre and will definitely be going back and reading the books I have missed in this series.

Although this is the 5th book in the series it is the first one I have read and it didn’t take away from the storyline. I will absolutely be reading the rest of the series. This was fantastic. The author kept me guessing the entire time trying to figure out who Romeo was. Once I started reading it I was unable to put it down.

Janey didn’t have things easy either. After Janey’s mother died, her father became abusive and neglectful. Her brother, Scott, wasn’t much better. When Janey got the chance to get out of the neighborhood, she took it and never came back. The only person she missed was Mateo.
Mateo thought he saw a pregnant Janey one day in a prison visiting room. Mateo realized he wanted to be a better person. Mateo decided to take the opportunity presented to him to join the other side. He secretly joined DAG and learned to become an agent for them. Mateo was determined to take down the gang from the inside out. And his plan was working until he showed up at the gang bunker and found Janey.
Janey had been kidnapped because Scott took something that belonged to the gang leader, Saw. Saw wanted the item back. Mateo had to change his plan to get the information he needed to truly be free of the gang while managing to keep Janey safe. Janey just had to play her part without falling for Mateo again. That part was not going to be easy.
Neither Janey nor Mateo want to admit their feelings for the other. After all the truths are revealed, Janey and Mateo find another again.
There are still questions to be answered. They came thiiiiiiiiiisssss close to revealing the mole. Janey and Mateo’s story is a perfect place to start if you aren’t already reading this series. And, you should be reading this series.

This is Sadie and Noah’s story. This is a series that really needs to be read in order. Even though I started with book 5 and felt the story was exciting, thrilling and romantic. I now need to go back to book 1. Evil is in the air with this story. Noah is an FBI agent investigating the Beltway Romeo. That sends him back to Sadie, a forensic facial reconstructionist. Sadie had not seen Noah for years. Now here he is. But there are some things that are about to come out. Big Secrets! I will stop there! The author writes everything as clear as can be. She ramps up her story then like a rollercoaster she plummets into the thriller. This story has it all: Romance, and Suspense, my two favorite genres in one great story. This is a must read! Now I am off to read the others in this series.

This is an author that I have enjoyed reading her books from the first one I picked up. I enjoy her writing style as well as her creativity to make her characters pop. Her stories are well written and hard to put down. This book is no different. It is a story about Emily and Cutter. He is the one who lands in jail for doing the right thing but the one who put him there has just walked back into his life. In order to bring down the MC, Emily has to go deep undercover. The attraction she feels is a problem. Will it bring her and the whole investigation down? What will he do when he realizes who she is? I enjoyed watching these two characters. They have great growth and chemistry throughout the story. They kept it engaging and had me coming back for more. This is an easy, fast paced story to read. I enjoyed reading this book and it is one you don’t want to miss. I highly recommend this book
This one was out of my normal storyline choice (gangs/mafia type), but I ended up enjoying it and I am glad I branched out. Great found family, forced proximity, second chance tropes. Janey is shy and wary, overthinks everything she says and does due to her past trauma. Mateo helps show her her hidden strengths, and protects/saves her many times along the way. He’s also battling his past and overcomes his doubts that Janey could love him for who he is. It was a great fast read with twists and turns, especially toward the end.

I’ve read this story before, so it was very exciting to listen to it come to life aloud. Love the characters, love the story line! The narrator had a bit of an odd accent that took a little time to understand, but it ended up being adorable as the story went along.

Nash is finally back from doing his duties as a Marine. He did not, however, come back the same man. Some of his scars are visible but there are many that are not. Betsy Bobbins, the local librarian, was afraid of him and his eyepatch at first but once she got to know him that quickly changed. Her sister has returned and along with her came some trouble she was having a hard time shaking. The only one Betsy could think to call for help was Nash. The narration was alright but I felt the added accent for the character was a bit much. It did make it a little harder for me to concentrate on the story itself. Overall I did enjoy the characters and the storyline.

I haven’t come across another author that crafts such flawless stories the way that Via Mari does. This book definitely brings the steamy scenes, but the author doesn’t rely on those scenes to be the sustenance of the book. The storyline is one full of adventure, drama, danger, emotions, suspense, and yes, definitely some spice. Do yourself a favor and clear your schedule when you pick this up because I lost a couple days’ worth of time! I simply could not put it down, so chores fell to the wayside. One major thing I have loved about this series is the fact that it just keeps improving with each book. You’ll want to read more about Sheldon and Alexis in the first part, and then Nick and Allie in the second. I enjoyed the extremely well-developed characters as well as the flow of the story. I can’t think of anything that I DIDN’T like throughout this entire read. I highly recommend picking this up as well as the rest of the series!

I enjoyed listening to Check Out by Debra Parmley. The voice of the narrator was unique and made you feel like you were actually listening to someone straight from the south. She was original and it made for a nice change from your typical audiobook narrator. The story itself was such a fun read and I enjoyed Nash immensely, he was so sweet to Betsy, and I loved the fact that a lot of it took place in a library. The only thing I didn’t like was Betsy seemed a little immature and childish at first. Overall it was a well rounded enjoyable read that I’m glad I listened to. I will check out book number two as well to see where life takes her sister.

The bodyguards of the wealthiest and deadliest families around are back again, finding the loves of their lives in places they never expected. I love the prose, the dominance, the chemistry, the worldbuilding in this series, and I enjoy quick reads that can make you feel like you’re not missing anything in the story.
Alexis innocently and accidentally drops her card when going for coffee. As she stoops down to pick it up, she finds a man has already done so…and he refuses to give it back to her. She keeps trying to get it back so that he doesn’t discover personal details, but he is resistant. He is pushy, domineering, and she is getting creeped out. In steps Sheldon to save the day, as he often does as a dominant man. He planned on that being the end of their interaction, but can’t seem to find himself ridding his mind of her in a lot of different ways. They work together and learn more about the creep in the cafe, Sheldon realizes he wants to protect Alexis and her family and friends forever. Allie is family to Alexis and gets brought into the fray as Sheldon and Alexis discover and track the trafficking ring that was introduced in the last addition. Fade Into the Night is Book Five in the Philly Night series and could be read as a standalone, however I do recommend reading previous books in the series. Not only are there some overlapping characters, but the rest of the series is amazing. The story centers around the characters of Noah and Sadie and is told from each of their POV which enables us to experience their respective thoughts and feelings. Noah is an FBI Special Agent who has come to Philadelphia in pursuit of the Beltway Romeo where he unexpectedly runs into Sadie, a Forensic Facial Reconstructionist, at a local coffee shop. The two had a brief fling years ago after the sentencing of Sadie’s mother’s murderer and never expected to see one another again. Since their brief fling each has thought of the other constantly so seeing each other rekindles old feelings and reignites the passion between them. When Sadie is attacked by the Beltway Romeo Noah is determined to protect her at all costs and bring the killer to justice. Danger lurks at every corner for them both as the Beltway Romeo is determined to finish what he started. The author does a great job of weaving a story full of drama, suspense, mystery, intrigue, action, and danger. The suspense is palpable and hooks you from the first few pages leaving you on the edge of your seat as you wonder when and where the psychotic killer will strike next. The characters are complex, well written and relatable. It is easy to become invested in their lives and their story. I highly recommend this book!

Elusive is the story of Sheldon and Alexis. “Stalker much” is Alexis favourite text towards Sheldon but the reality is protects her from Darwin her very own real life stalker. Tenacious is the story of Nick (another protective security guy) and Allie whom is Alexis best friend.
These stories all interlink with not only the previous books in this series but also the previous novels by Via Mari. Do yourself a favour and read them ALL

I have read books by this author previously and I really liked her writing style so I was looking forward to getting stated with this one. Overall I enjoyed it, I’ve read quite a few stories in this genre so nothing really surprises me although I would say that DD/LG is probably one of my least favourite to read however the story was much more than that. There was a lot of action that kept my interest throughout and the characters were great to read about. They had their own things going on. I did really like Cutter, he was a great character to read about and the chemistry between him and Emily was undeniable! I would recommend this book and I am looking forward to reading more from this author again in the future.
Another entertaining two book collection of dark mafia romances, with plenty of drama and suspense to keep me happily turning the pages. I love these ‘duet’ books as I can ‘binge read’ the series! Sheldon and Alexis’s story is one of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, which is what happens to Alexis. Sheldon is a bodyguard to wealthy billionaires and the Larussio Crime Family, and so recognises the danger she’s in before she does. A criminal sets his sites on Alexis and so Sheldon steps in to recue her, as she causes his protective and possessive instincts to kick in. In book two, Nick is a wealthy member of a security team which protects billionaires and Mafia men and is used to getting what he wants. Then he rescues Allie who both takes his breath away and has a sassy mouth, but she’s weary of men and keeps him at a distance. However, Nick is determined to break down her defences, and when she’s in danger from criminals he will protect what is his. These two stories are both engaging, and the storylines had me hooked throughout. The characters and settings come alive through the descriptive narrative, making me feel immersed in the stories. I love the dark romances but also love knowing that each couple will have a guaranteed happily ever after!

Delayed Redemption is the third book in the DAG Team series by Kel O’Connor. As with the first two books, this is a Special Ops romantic suspense with a bit of a second chances element, plenty of tension, intrigue, secrets, action, adventure, drama, challenges, danger, chemistry, steam, angst, and emotion. As expected from Ms. O’Connor, the characters are well-crafted individuals with their own unique personalities, quirks, and flaws- making it easy to connect with them and get fully invested in their story. Things aren’t exactly as they seem and as past and present collide the tension rises, all while danger circles, chemistry sizzles, sparks fly, secrets are revealed, as all the dramatic and intriguing developments keep you glued to the pages as everything unfolds. Can’t wait for more of DAG Team- bring on Archie’s story!!!

This book is a brilliant romantic suspense that is all about the characters right at is centre. Even with everything going on around them, their connection and chemistry completely shine through. I loved that they had history between them. I think it added such a depth to their relationship and I became more invested in them. This series is such a strong one. The books are exciting, fast paced and incredible to read. It think this one has to be my favourite so far and it has made me even more excited about what is to come. I thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish and would high recommend it.

Okay this was the something I did not expect. It has Daddy/little girl play. I really have not read anything like this before and this was a struggle for me. The actual storyline was pretty good. I like the whole MC v MC and then have the cartel thrown in makes for some exciting things and action that happen. I would recommend this if you are aware of the lifestyle that I mentioned above.

Deceptively Yours is the first book in the Titans of Chicago series by Anise Storm. This is the start of a new spin-off series (from Titans of Manhattan), this time set in Chicago. I have loved reading the Titans of Manhattan, so it was a given that I would be diving into this book as soon as it released. This is a bit of a darker romantic suspense with trigger warnings for violence, SA, and more- so keep that in mind before diving in. The story is a second chance romance with forced proximity, painful past history, hurt, tension, chemistry, sparks, sizzle, emotion, lies, secrets, angst, drama, tension, intrigue, action, flashbacks, and is told from a duel (alternating) POV. There were parts of the story which were heart-wrenching at times, where I really felt for the character/s. And as I mentioned above, some of the subject-matter could be considered triggers for some readers – so be warned. This is not a light and fluffy read. Our FMC especially, has been through the wringer. Though, I have to be honest here, I have really struggled with my thoughts on this book and how to put them into my review. As I have mentioned, I have read most of Ms. Storm’s books now and have enjoyed my reading journey with her. But I really struggled reading this book for numerous reasons, one of which was that it felt like it was (almost) written by a completely different author, and not up to Ms. Storm’s usual ‘polish’ (so sorry, Ms. Storm). Let me try and explain. First of all, our MC’s are only 26 and so much has happened to them over the years- as they have gone from childhood friends to teen sweethearts, to then being ripped apart by harrowing circumstances at the age of sixteen. So, I really feel that these two needed to be slightly older now (perhaps 29/30) to really ‘fit’ the storyline/circumstances/life better. But, in saying that, there was a lot of dialogue/inner thoughts which ‘sounded’ much older and more ‘formal’- especially when we were reading from a sixteen-year-olds perspective. There were times that the dialogue just didn’t feel realistic for the situation or characters circumstances/ages, which pulled me out of the story and disrupted the ‘flow’. Then there was repeated information, in the form of inner thoughts/dialogue which was frustrating having to ‘hear’ something we already knew, repeatedly. After a while it just seemed like manufactured angst/drama. Then there was the use of wrong terms (from my perspective) which pulled me out of the story and had me re-reading to confirm what I just read. Which again, is my own perspective/‘issues’ with this book- as others might not even notice or care. There were also terms, sentences/dialogue that seemed quite ‘clunky/bumpy/unneeded/confusing, which made for a choppy feel, and again, pulled me out of the story. And the tenses of the story were in conflict at times, too. I feel that most of these issues could have been caught during the beta read/editing process and would have made the story so much more polished — made it flow/feel so much better (but again, this is just my personal opinion). Then there were the characters – who frustrated me to death with their miscommunications/misunderstandings/manufacturing angst and drama- I went from really feeling for them to wanting to knock their heads together, and that made it hard for me to fully connect with them and invest in their story. I am not trying to sound ‘nit-picking’ here, just trying to convey how I feel, and why this just didn’t connect with me the way I had hoped…… But having loved Ms. Storm’s other works, I am looking forward to seeing what comes next. I enjoyed reading this suspenseful story. This is a newer author for me which I enjoyed their writing skills as well as their attention to details that made the story come to life. This is a well written story where the twists and turns will have you coming back for more. The characters are relatable and add so much to the story’s entertainment value. Janey and Mateo are great characters. There is a mole amongst them at DAG. Will Janey and Mateo figure out who the mole is? Will they give in to feelings and work through issues they have? This is such a great story. It is fast paced and hard to put down. A story that is easy to read and one you don’t want to miss. I really enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it.

This is the third book in the series and it was so good! I have loved reading this series! I was on the edge of my seat and had to keep reading to see what would happen next! I cannot wait to read more books by this author! This is for sure getting added to my list of books to reread.

Via Mari certainly knows how to write a page turner!! This is book 3&4 of the sinful duets series and OMG there is some hot action here.
Auctioned is the story of Bryanna and Damian. Bryanna is drugged and blackmailed into thinking that the bad people will hurt her family especially her niece and nephew and she will do anything to protect them. Including allow herself to be treated like shit, forced to strip and be auctioned as the virgin that she is to the highest bidder.
Damian has been assigned to find and protect Bryanna. Bryanna does not make it easy for him as once he finds her and gets her safe she keeps escaping and returning to her kidnappers to protect her family.
Eventually though Damian gets through to her and love wins ❤️.
I suspect another spin off novel to come involving Bryanna’s brother and also a few of the other characters ❤️
Relentless is the story of Layla and Derek. This is a spin off involving characters in roles within auctioned. Layla has tried to keep Bryanna safe and protected and in doing so gets herself the protection of Derek who sought her out for information. She has secrets of her own and I also suspect that they will come into play in another book at some stage? These men love to protect the women that they love ❤️
This could be considered a stand alone novel but once again it ties into the previous book characters in not only this series but also prior series. I suggest if you want to be hooked on a long running series – start at the beginning and I will be retrospectively reading to catch myself up!!

Alexis is minding her own business when she drops her card in a crowded café, but when she asks for it back the man holding it is not giving in. Feeling a little brave but uncomfortable she is determined to get the card back as this man gives her the creeps and she does not want him knowing where she works, with that in steps a hunk of a man who deflects the situation and recuses the Alexis.
Sheldon is on the coffee run and stops a lady trying to get back something that belongs to her, with his protective nature he assists but there is something in her eyes that draws him to her and wants to make sure she if safe. Unbeknownst to both of them they have opened a big can of danger which trusts them together.
As they learn more and more about the creepy man in café the more Sheldon is determined to protect Alexis and her closest friends and family but will he be able to keep the attraction to her under wraps to protect her.
Tenacious – Nick and Allie
Allie and Alexis are still being hunted by the trafficking ring and things are about to get interesting for Allie. After having fought hard against the security constantly around them she has come to the conclusion that Liam and Trent aren’t that bad but when he walks into the room and announces he will become her close guard Allie is unsure if she could have Nick that close.
From the first moment Nick saw the sassy, fiery Allie he has had this longing to protect her. Although she has fought against it she needs to understand that this is not for fun but to protect her and Alexis from being hurt, killed or kidnapped. When Nick starts to ware down Allie defences and involves himself with her, will they both be able to overcome there trust issues and find true happiness with each other.
OMG I love this author, give me mafia, hunky security guards and alpha males and you have the trifecta in this book. This book is split into two stories and they are amazing.
The chemistry between the two main characters in each book is off the charts and with the added drama, with twists and turns I challenge anyone to not to read this is a couple of sittings. I loved how each character is developed and although these men are dominant alphas they are loving and caring for there sub missive’s always.
Each story offers a different aspect to dynamic of the group and is a great read, with a lot of characters now introduced into this world hopefully there is more juicy stories to come and can’t wait for the next instalments.

I hadn’t heard of this author before, but I was interested in the cover and once I read the synopsis, I knew I had to pick it up. I enjoy the dual points of view the author provides as it always helps give more insight into the characters. I loved that our main female character, Kai, is strong and bold which was refreshing. Waters seems like the typical alpha male, but when he’s put in the same area as independent Kai, what will happen? She needs his help, but will she coordinate with him or will they both be too stubborn? I am eagerly waiting for anything else from this author as they have a beautiful way of crafting this story, and I lost time for an entire afternoon finishing it!

Loved this book! Wonderful main characters, really great tension overall, a very exciting connection! Read this book if you like romance, action, and being on the edge of your seat! It was fun to read a book that had so many different genres in one!
