Sweets and Santa (The Matchmaking Baker, #2)Sweets and Santa by Rosie Pease
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is my second book by this author and I love it even more than the first. The setting is beautiful, you can feel like you are there. The author does a great job of describing without over subscribing. I love the main character Joanie and all the secondary characters, especially Sarah. I enjoyed how the author intertwined the characters, the town, and the yearly Christmas traditions. You could feel the coziness of the town, how everyone was connected and friendly. Throw in a couple of hijinks, a little mystery, some laughter, and some good recipes and you have yourself a sweet cozy mystery. My only question was what happened to Meredith from the previous book? I can’t wait to dive in to the rest of the books by this author. Her writing style is sweet and light which is perfect!

This is my first read by this author and I LOVED it! It felt like a true cozy mystery book right from the beginning. It is funny, light-hearted, and engaging. You immediately feel connected to the characters and the humor is spot on. The relationship between the Gram, Mom, and daughter is well written and made this very short story that more enjoyable! I can’t wait to read the next one. If you enjoy, light hearted, fun, paranormal, stories you will want to go get this one asap!

Sweets and Santa (The Matchmaking Baker Book 2) by Rosie Pease is just a cute little novel that gives your brain a breath of fresh air after you’ve been reading all them psycho mysteries. A sweet (literally) little Christmas mystery. Although our heroine doesn’t actually solve the mystery it’s more an accidental revealing. I love the running commentary about the cookies in the bakery and I love all the characters in this novel and I especially love the recipe at the end, a unique little addition. This book gives you more than just a good story I’m looking forward to more of these little books.

Sweets and Santa is book 2 from The Matchmaking Baker series by Rosie Pease. It is the first paranormal based story I’ve read, as well as the first book from this author I have ever read and I really enjoyed it! It is a quick, easy, enjoyable story about a newly in business Bakery owner that seems to be surrounded by mysterious events and what seems to be a touch of magic! It appealed to me first off because its a story based around the Christmas Holidays. It is definitely not what I imagined for a paranormal story. It is suitable for all readers! I feel like there were a few parts I would have understood better if I read the first book first. I found every single character to be likable. The story had a great flow, and was very well written. I had a hard time putting it down once I had picked it up! I give it 5 stars and highly recommend it for everyone!

If you are looking for a sweet Christmas story, look no further Sweets and Santas is the book for you. The imagery that Rosie Pease creates is a beautiful story. Her attention to detail really stands out in this book. The characters are fun loving and enjoyable to read about. Joanie is the main character in this story. She just opened a new bakery in a new town. There is some shifty stuff going on and wouldn’t you know it had to happen at the new bakery in town. Will the missing items show up? Is the Christmas magic playing tricks on Joanie or will she be able to figure out what is happening? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what is happening with Joanie’s bakery.

‘Sweets and Santa’ by Rosie Pease is a wonderful story full of Christmas cheer, small-town antics, and paranormal activity. Although it is the second book in a series, it does well standing on its own. It also combines several elements that I have not seen before, but particularly enjoy. I like the idea of a matchmaking baker, and I am glad to see that the author lets us know out of the gate that she’s not talented at everything. I also enjoy the fact that the paranormal rears its head among the pages of the story. To find out how it all ties together, I strongly recommend reading the book.

Sweets and Santa (The Matchmaking Baker, #2)Sweets and Santa by Rosie Pease
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

In the town of Heartwood Hollow, in Founder’s Park, there appears a santa’s grotto and it almost feels like it arrives overnight, but that isn’t the only mystery in Heartwood hollow, Joanie is a baker who only lets a few people in on her secret recipes and they are the ones who work in her bakery with her, Gina and Bryan, as she prepares for a busy season and a few extremely busy weeks. She arrives in her bakery early to prepare for the day and her first time being open at Christmas, she has an ambitious plan for all sorts of flavours of cookies, this is on top of her usual orders of muffins, scones and more cookies for afternoon teas at the local hotel. As the town prepares for the holiday season as well, the only thing missing is snow, even though it is cold enough for it, so as Joannie makes her deliveries, she listens to the town rumours from the business owners including that another of her matches is going to be getting engaged soon, thanks to her, it is a family trait that she can tell who will be good matches, she can feel the connections as they are made and also, that the school kids are saying that her muffins are good luck and that is why this particular delivery has increased and that she should prepare more orders for when their final exams are coming up, but at least that’s all the rumours about her say.

As Joanie and the team are preparing the cookies for the day and thinking about the rest of the week and the new recipes she is going to try, this is when she is reminded of the Christmas window decoration competition as Sarah, her from of house employee asks whether she knows what the theme is going to be, it turns out that she has too many ideas and needs to narrow it down when she goes to the store to buy what she needs in a couple of days, but seeing as it is her first year, it doesn’t have to be anything too exciting or hard. When Gina suggests Cookies for Santa, but with a twist and it is then that Joanie comes up with her idea. She also receives a all from the local hotel and is surprised and happy to find out that they want her to do another load of cookies for another upcoming afternoon tea, Joanie agrees saying that although the bakery will be shut, she will be there anyway to decorate the window, so she can happily do both.

Later on that day, a frazzled looking young man enters the store and asks if they have found his engagement ring while cleaning up, Joanie hasn’t, but says she will let the young man know if she finds it, but that she hopes he does. It turns out that it isn’t the only thing that has gone missing, other bits a pieces have disappeared around the town and just as mysteriously, she notices that some gnomes have appeared at around the same time, but they don’t just look like normal gnomes, it turns out that they randomly appear and have done for years, but nobody knows who does it, Joanie goes to the library to find out more a few days later and while doing this, she comes up with the missing piece of her window decoration and a new recipe to try to top it off. As it nears Christmas and the town festivities start properly kicking off, things keep disappearing and the gnomes move around, but who is behind it and will the missing things be found, or will the Christmas spirit and romantic escapades be lost?

This is a seasonal themed cozy mystery which is a lovely and wholesome read, it is full of good cheer and the baking is guaranteed to make your mouth water and crave something sweet at the same time!

I enjoyed this cosy mystery. I really enjoyed the Christmas feel. The mystery keeps you guessing. The characters are well written and the story is easy to fall into.

Joanie  has opened up her bakery and has filled it full of delicious and tempting Christmas biscuits. She also has a special gift for matchmaking. Rumours around town says she is the best matchmaker around.

Things seem to be going well until things start disappearing around the village. And when something special is missing from her shop things could look bad for Joanie.

Who is taking all the items that are disappearing and for what reason? Can Joanie find the person behind it? What is the connection to the gnomes that keep appearing and reappearing around the village?

What happens when you are new in town, trying to run a business and are accused of stealing? Try to find out who really has committed the crime.

Joanie has set up her bakery in a beautiful little town and as this is her first Christmas a little anguish about her shop window as although she can decorate a cookie her other decorating skills leaves a lot to be desired.

But when things start happening within the town, all eyes land on Joanie when an engagement ring is stolen and the last time it was seen was in her shop. As the accusations run around the little town, can her reputation cope with the growing tension within the town.

I loved this story; it was a funny mystery which was well written and great characters. Joanie’s character was warm and welcoming and I would love to go and shop at her lovely bakery with all the wonderful goods that are described. This book is a little Christmas cheer in a gloomy world at the moment. If you want your Christmas spirit lifted then I recommend this great novella for a great quick read.

This is a nice holiday mystery. It’s the second book in the series. I have not read the first book and didn’t struggle following along with this at all. We see Joanie setting up and getting her bakery going. There is the problem of missing items around town the the fun gnomes. Joanie also is the town matchmaker so we get to see her in action doing this as well

I enjoy reading Christmas books this time of year. This is a fun story but at times I seemed to zone out mostly during the baking session. I didn’t need all the details to understand what was going on. The characters/townfolk are interesting but the gnome idea stoke the show.

I haven’t read anything by her but when it came across my timeline I saw the bright and sweet cover and knew I had to check it out and see what story laid beyond it. I was so pleasantly surprised with how much this novel swept me off my feet as I read. This book has all the holiday cheer you could want with a holiday book and plenty of other layers like cozy mystery, romance, and some paranormal tidbits as well. There is literally something for everyone in this perfect holiday read. I will personally be going back for more of Heartwood Hollow’s stories and more of Joanie I hope as well. These characters will make you feel as if you have a whole new family to visit from time to time. I want someday to experience a small town Christmas like the Hallmark movies tote because it seems so magical and unique. This book read like a Hallmark movie and has won a spot on my favorite list. ‘Sweets and Santa’ is an enjoyable paranormal Christmas cozy mystery novella and part of ‘The Matchmaking Baker’ series, however it can be read as a standalone story. The storyline is packed full of mystery, magic, and matchmaking which is all happening at Christmas. It is Joanie’s first Christmas as a bakery owner and although she is confident with her perfect recipes she is less happy with her holiday window decorating skills. The festive spirit in the town of Heartwood Hollow is overshadowed when items start disappearing and when an engagement ring goes missing from the bakery Joanie’s reputation is at risk. Having believed her town to be safe baker and matchmaker Joanie wonders if it’s a prank or something more sinister. As well as trying to find the ring and win over the town with her cookies, Joanie is also concerned about the Christmas gnomes that get moved each night. Joanie needs some Christmas magic to help her work out the mystery and I was definitely left feeling full of the Christmas spirit having read this fun novella. An enjoyable and engaging read, I was hooked from start to finish and enjoyed solving the Christmas mystery alongside Joanie. I look forward to reading other books in this series.

Sweets and Santa: A Paranormal Cozy Mystery is the second book in The Matchmaking Baker Series by Rosie Pease. I can’t believe I haven’t discovered this author before now- because after reading this, I know that I’ve been missing out on some wonderful stories. I enjoyed this book so much that I will definitely be going back to one-click as many more of her books as I can find.
This is a wonderful Christmas story- full of all the magic and spirit of Christmas that makes these types of books such a delight to read, anytime of the year. It has a small-town community feel- with mystery, magic, secrets, a little of the paranormal- and some unique and clever touches that really made this story quite memorable.
Joanie’s is one of Heartwood Hollow’s newer residents- a gifted baker, she has spent a long time renovating her bakery and getting everything just right. She opened the doors to her shop some months ago- and even though she has had the bakery for more than a year, this is the first Christmas she will be able to enjoy in her new hometown. Things are getting underway and all the businesses are decorating for the holiday- so she is extra excited to join in all the festivities, decorate her shop front- and even come up with a few unique Christmas recipes. But things begin to go missing from all around town, and adding to the mystery- the town seems to be overrun with decorative gnomes. Things take on an intriguing turn the closer to Christmas we get- making for a sweet, feel-good story.
I will be diving in to explore more of Ms. Pease’s stories, and the rest of this series as soon as possible.

Thank you, Rosie Pease!

I give Sweets and Santa: A Paranormal Cozy Mystery (The Matchmaking Baker Book 2) by Rosie Pease , 5 stars.

What a fun read! This is my first book by this author, so I knew nothing about the characters or world this is set in. While I liked Joanie in this book, I hope she grows more into herself in future books. However, this book seems like it’s leading up to things, which is great for me, you are constantly waiting for the next thing to happen. Trying to solve the puzzle is the best part of a cozy mystery and this book exceeds expectations in that part. I love this inclusion of the gnomes too, what a brilliant, fun, and original idea! The other characters in this world really make this good book exceptional.

If you are a fan of paranormal cozy mysteries, I definitely recommend this book.

5+++++++++++ Stars

I don’t even know where to begin with this review. I picked this book up because first I love a cozy mystery and the cover was interesting and the blurb was enough to have me hooked. This is my first book by this author and I’m already a forever fan. The second I finish this review I will be going to her page and getting whatever is available with this series and these characters.

I can’t even describe in words the writing style of this author who had me so wrapped up on page 1 that I couldn’t stand it when I had to put the book down for things like “adulting” yuck!

I felt like I was transported to Heartwood Hollow while I was reading, I could envision everything and it just deepened my desire to move to a small town just like it. Suncraft Bakery is like an unspoken dream of mine so living that through Joanie in this story was like experiencing it for myself. Now I want it even more, add a few books and tables in the bakery and call it done LOL The writing in this story made me feel like while the recipes were being created that I had to wipe flour off my hands, I could smell the creations. Simply amazing!

The storyline is so unique and it seems that it’s an ongoing story and from what I’m seeing the full length novels start next, this has me needing them even more since I hated when this one was done. Adding in the matchmaking and the little pieces of paranormal as she did was genius. You don’t even really realize it’s a paranormal although it obviously is.

This is EASILY one of my favorite reads of 2020 and I will have them all as well as following this author for whatever else she comes up with!

This is a must read Cozy Christmas Mystery!!
