I love fantasy and horror books. This seemed like a mixture of both so I was excited to read it. It ended up not being what I expected. The same theme flows throughout the novel but it is like a bunch of short stories put together to form one book. The world of Alda is dying. Monstrosities abound and atrocities occur daily. Each story shows different events happening to different people. I enjoyed the story about the garden and the lady of the tower. These stories occurred more towards the beginning of the book and unfortunately the rest didn’t capture my attention. The stories were too short for me to get attached to the characters therefore I honestly couldn’t care less what happened to them. I couldn’t finish the book. I completely lost interest. This book wasn’t for me personally but it is well written and unique. I’m sure there are many readers who would enjoy it.
