I recently commented on a read that it was as if the universe knew just what I needed at that point in time and this was one of those reads , it came to help me forget , get lost , cry , get angry , live the story and it’s characters , love and just feel good about people and life and everything involved so what’s not to love !?

Katelyn is an equine therapist but she’s also beautiful , fearless and fierce . When she jumps in to save the day she catches the attention of Jim, he knows of a horse and rider that need her healing touch ………

Grant is troubled and his relationship with his horse Hugh is tense both man and horse are in dire need of healing , Grant is not an easy man but I love his Scottish accent and his butler / friend Jeffers .

I must hand it to Jeffers , he’s a kind and patient man but also humble to love Grant and his ways .

Katelyn loves a challenge and soon enough she’s headed North Carolina to meet Hugh and his master and let’s just say the the equine , troubled ad he is is easier to be with than his owner …

Katelyn has a good , kind heart and is genuinely a hard worker and watching her interact with Hugh , the stable hands , Jeffers and the Sutter family speaks volumes of her character but Grant prickles her a bit and brings out a feisty side to her 😉and it’s entertaining that’s for sure !

This really is like a retelling of beauty and the beast with a twist 🥰and a beautiful tale indeed and I enjoyed it so much that I’ve re read it three times!#truestorythelifeofabibliophile#

I could barely put this book down. I love the strong female characters in this series, and this book was every bit as good as the first book. Katelyn is sweet as pie and tough as nails, and strong as an ox. Reading her story unfold as she rehabilitates a broken horse, and his rider in the process, was captivating. It will have you rooting for love and letting go of expectations and acceptance until the end. Simply beautiful.

I am a horse girlie at heart and just like that, I’m back in my horse girlie era. Throw in an enemies-to-lovers trope, with a no-nonsense girl with her head on straight who meets a hurt, frankly traumatised guy with daddy issues and I’m rooting for these fictional characters with all my heart. The tension simmers, you can’t help but become emotionally invested in these characters, and I never thought I’d say this, but steamy moments in unexpected places, wink wink? Say no more.

As a horse therapist, Katelyn Sullivan does her job and helps out others but she is gruff around the edges in the sense that she tells people how it is and does not hold back. When she gets asked to help out an injured prize thoroughbred she agrees eager to help. Once she arrives she meets Grant Tennyson, a stuck up man who yells at everyone in his path. He doesn’t care for Katelyn she is a temporary employee and here to do a job but the more he sees her and her work ethic, the more he begins to want to know her. As they get close though things may be torn apart when Grant has to make a choice.

This was a bit like Beauty and the Beast. Katelyn is a new favorite character of mine, she is full of sass. Grant has an initial heir of snobbery but once you get to understand his past you get it. Full of surprises with this book, had a smile on my face throughout.

⭐️⭐️⭐⭐⭐ Book Review

Back to the 80s totally won me over! As an 80’s baby, I just had to read this book. The title and the front cover alone had me hooked. This was my first time reading a novel written by these authors and I do not regret a single moment of it. Blaine and Eric stole my heart. Blaine had such passion for her mother’s store and memorabilia. She was also quickly falling in love with Eric. She had to figure out the best way to allow both to exist in her life despite the plans Blaine’s family had for her future. I loved how sincere Eric was. He came from a rich family, and his sister was a real snob, but Eric was determined to be his own soul. I enjoyed the fact that the relationship between these two characters was genuine and not forced, it slowly progressed. The novel had a great plot and didn’t solely revolve around the romance building between the two. I highly recommend this book to all the 80s babies out there looking for a quick easy to read romance.

This is the second book in the Sweet Valley Series, and I loved it just as much as the first one! I think it can be read as a standalone but trust me you’ll regret missing out on the first book if you go that route. This author has a marvelous way of writing relatable characters that you instinctively root for even if some of them are grumpy. Katelyn and Grant have a chemistry that seems obvious yet natural. This book really checked a lot of boxes for me as it pulls you in and has you invested in everyone involved. I highly recommend picking this up (and the first one) if you’re looking for a good western romance!

This book was such a great read. It was hard to put down the book because there were so many questions that weren’t answered immediately. This book will keep you on your toes. A lot of character development.

This book follows the stories of Grant and Katelyn. Grant is a businessman who runs a successful horse breeding farm. He is known around the community as a stubborn and grumpy man. Katelyn is a young woman who has spent her whole life around horses. She likes to look toward the positives in situations and is fearless.

Katelyn meets Grant when she obtains a job trying to help rehab his prized thoroughbred horse. Grant was not happy with her when they first met. He did not care for how she talked to him in a manner no one else would dare to. She also was not educated enough to be put in charge of the health of such an important horse.

What happens when a jaded soul meets an optimistic one? Can a young woman really do something that the best in the industry can’t? What secrets lie behind this abundant operation? Is there really a thin line between love and hate?

An enjoyable and entertaining contemporary romance which kept me happily turning the pages. According to Blaine Reynolds, owner of the novelty shop “Back to the 80’s”, the 80s were the best decade ever, and she’s prepared to risk everything to prove it. When developer Eric Morales plans to destroy her late mothers shop in order to build a new brewery, Blaine makes a bet with him. That she just needs 30 days to prove to him why the 80’s were ‘totally rad’ and why her store is worth saving. Neither Blaine or Eric intend to lose the bet, but neither of them expected that they may lose their hearts. This was a lighthearted enemies to lovers romance with likeable and relatable characters in Blaine and Eric. The story was full of popular items from the 80’s, including Cabbage Patch dolls and classic video games, giving it a nostalgic feel, which I enjoyed.

Back to the 80s reminded me of why I am so thankful I was a teenager during that time. It was a wonderful time. I am a little biased, but I still think it was a great time!!!

Blaine is the owner of a novelty shop that specializes in all things the 80s that was left to her by her mother. She has worked tirelessly to keep her mother’s legacy alive. Eric Morales is a developer who has his sights on destroying the building that houses Blaine’s store to open a new brewery. When these two meet, the sparks fly, both in a good way and not so good way. In order to save her store, she makes a bet with him. She has 30 days to change his mind and show him what a great decade the 80s really was. As these two spend more time together, that tiny spark is now developing into so much more. Hopefully, they can find a way to not only find a business compromise but also find a way to their own HEA!

This was such a quirky read in every possibly good way! I was a teenager during the 80s, so I LOVED all the references to that decade! It encompassed all the things that made that time such a great one!!! The secondary characters just added to the story itself as well! Like all the great 80s romantic movies, this book also had an EPIC ending!!! If you are looking for a sweet, quirky romance, you can’t go wrong with this one!!!

Blaine inherited her mothers store that has all things 80s and when developers buy the mall it is in and wants to take it all away she comes up with a very interesting bet that Eric, one of the developers, simply can’t pass up and that’s where all the fun begins. Granting Katelyn is Book #2 in the Sweet Valley Series and while this book can be read as a standalone I highly recommend reading this series in order as this series is fantastic for any romance lover like me. This story of Katelyn and Grant gave me drama, age gap (which I LOVE), heartbreak, healing, romance and a roller coaster of emotions with definite ups and downs. This was a great story.

Katelyn Sullivan has a love for helping horses as a equine therapist and is very good at what she does. She is tough as nails, no nonsense and not afraid to back down……she is given a chance to help a very an injured horse with recovery due to an accident…..but butting heads with Grant Tennyson is not on her agenda. Grant Tennyson is grumpy, grouchy and overall comes across rude. He is under a lot of pressure from his father, Ian, to make sure their farm is run smoothly and also making sure that Katelyn does her job to help with Hugh’s recovery. As the layers are slowly peeled away when Katelyn and Grant get to know each other, the spark comes from within…but Grant knows he should not have any feelings toward Katelyn as his father wants only the best for Grant, including a wife. What happens when the matters of the heart comes to blows with family obligations that are just unreasonable from a high powered father like Ian Tennyson.

This is a great story. I highly recommend and many parts really pulled at my heart strings, especially Grant’s history and back story. The author does such a great job on storytelling as this book was very hard to put down. Looking forward to Laney’s story next!

Granting Katelyn (Sweet Valley Series) by S.E. Reichert. I love this series. This is the second book in the Sweet Valley Series but they can be read as a standalone. This is the story of Katelyn who helps injured horses. She has a lot of issues with her past but puts off a brave front. She has to because most people that work with horses are all men. When she travels across country to help a thoroughbred in need she arrives thinking that everyone is on board with her coming to help. Enter Grant who is the owner of said thoroughbred. He has not intention of letting anyone take control of his life especially his horses. When Katelyn shows up he does everything in his power to get rid of her. Katelyn is a little tougher than he gives her credit for. The more time they spend together the more they realize the friction between them might be romance. Read this sweet 2nd book in this awesome series to find out what happens.

The Sullivan sisters are a fabulous family that seems like a lot of fun. In book two of this series, we learn more about Katelyn and get to catch up on what Ellie’s been up to.

Katelyn is restless and feels the need to travel again. When an opportunity comes up for her to go and help an injured horse, she’s all in. She might be the only one who is though! The set-up came through a third party mutual friend so when Katelyn shows up at Grant Tennyson’s farm to help rehabilitate his prize-winning thoroughbred, he’s wondering where she came from. Grant is also not wanting her help and will do what he can to get her to leave.

Katelyn is full of sass and vinegar and finds a way into Grant’s horse barn, as well as into his heart. She’s not afraid to put him or anyone else in their place and she will prove that she’s the right person for this job.

There is a lot of raw emotion in this story and it’s one that goes by fairly quickly. My favorite character has to be the butler in this story though! I loved Katelyn and Grant but the butler stole my heart!

Katelyn is a fierce hard worker who will fight for what she knows is right. As she heals the hurts of the horse, the man who captures her interest is entwined in that healing.
There are years of emotional abuse to work through and in the end, it may feel safer to just stick with what he knows. Grant has never been free to make his own choices in his life and thinking there could be more is almost too much for him to bear. This was a very emotional read for me, I love how the author takes us along through the highs and lows.
S.E. Reichert is great at creating strong relatable characters who are flawed and lovable. I can’t wait to read what comes next!

I think it is safe to say that this book is nostalgia at its finest! Back to the 80s is a fun, nostalgic rom-com that brought back a lot of memories of the good times! If you grew up in the 80s and early 90’s or just have a love for the past, this is a fun reminder of how awesome that time period was! Blaine has inherited her mom’s shop, which happens to be a novelty shop showing love to the 1980s. Eric is a local developer with big plans of demolishing her shop to build a brewery. Is there anyway Blaine convince Eric that her shop is worth saving?
This is definitely a sweet rom-com that had me ready to watch some of those awesome 80s films. The characters of Blaine and Eric are well developed and give off the not friends but could be something more aesthetic. Blaine had a way of showing that she is strong willed with strong opinions and is independent. She is ready to fight for the business that she loves and isn’t going to let Eric stand in the way. Kudos to the authors for such a fun, nostalgic book! I can’t wait to read future books by SE Reichert and Kerrie Flanagan.

I loved the first book in this series and couldn’t wait to get the rest of the sisters’ stories and this one is about Katelyn. This can be absolutely read as a standalone!

I so loved this story as it had me in my feelings from the start as you could just feel how broken Grant was.

Katelyn may be my favorite female lead in quite some time as she took no crap from anyone and stood for what she knew was right and didn’t back down.

These 2 were great even with the grumpy/sunshine trope going on, which is one of my favorites, as we see the ice thaw on Grant slowly.

Cannot wait for the next!

Back to the 80s

The title alone drew me to this book and when I saw who the author was I knew without a doubt I needed to read it.

As someone who grew up in the 80’s the little references took me back to a time when the responsibilities of being an adult didn’t weight so hard on me. Rainbow Brite, Cabbage Patch Kids (mine was named Heather Dawn), Strawberry Shortcake, Pac-Man and of course the awesome hair band are just a few things mentioned that made me smile.

I do love that she is named Blaine and even as young as she is she loved and appreciated everything from the 80’s and the connection she had to her Mom through the store.

From the beginning I didn’t want to like Eric because he is a developer who takes the places we love and live and either destroy it or make the cost of housing more than an average person can afford. But I was charmed by him when he met Blaine at the store.

I loved the book, characters and the happy memories that came back. Thanks for reminding of the good old days!

Granting Katelyn

I love the Sullivan sisters, each one is strong and fierce but also vulnerable. We get to really know Katelyn in this book and catch up with Ellie.

I am thankfully on vacation from work this week and was able to binge read this book. Think I put it down long enough to eat lunch, but refused to take a nap so I could keep reading.

Katelyn is tough, but not as tough as she would like everyone to think. I think part of the reason is her age, and second her profession which I would assume is dominated by men. She is quite in tune with her feelings as well as the horses she works with.

Grant breaks my heart. He let’s his fears from the past control his future. I understand where he’s coming from to a point, but he needs to keep those negative voices out of his head.

Hugh won my heart from the beginning and I loved him even more at the end of the book.

I’m already looking forward to Laney’s story. I have read several books by Ms. Reichert, have enjoyed each one and will always look forward to reading more.

I LOVED every page of this book. I grew up in the 80’s and can I say I love how the authors brought me back to simpler times of neon colors, aquanet, Journey and brat pack movies. This is a very enjoyable a bit of enemies to lovers rom-com with some drama, laugh out loud moments and so much nostalgia. I very highly recommend this book, espeically to anyone who loved growing up in the 80s.

Blaine Reynolds wants to keep her mother’s legacy and honor her by having her shop “Back to the 80s” remain open, even when the threat of tearing down the mall where the shop is located at to build a new brewery and behind it all is Morales Construction. Blaine fights hard to keep her shop afloat, but with the likes of Eric Morales, hoping that a bet of 30 days, he may change his mind. What Blaine did not expect was the more she got to know Eric personally, her walls came down and saw so much more to him than just his need to tear down the mall for a new business.

Eric Morales wants to make his father proud and make partner at his family Morales Construction Company by closing a deal to tear down a local mall to make a new business venture. What Eric does not expect is to lose to a bet with Blaine to try and fight and keep her nostalgic shop. Eric is all work and no play, but once he gets to know Blaine on a deeper level…..feelings come into play, his attraction to Blaine becomes undeniable.

Will Eric and Blaine be able to see eye to eye on a decision that may impact them both on different levels?

I loved this story so much and this was such a fun book book to read. I felt like I was back in time growing up and reminiscing the good times that the 80s brought.

I loved the idea of this book as soon as I saw it and knew I had to read it. I was born in the 90s so unfortunately missed out on the 80s and experiencing all the media (music etc.) I love first hand. This book almost made me feel nostalgia that I didn’t even have the ‘right’ to.

This was a brilliant and fun rom com to read with a great plot and wonderful characters, Eric and Blaine. There was plenty of cheese and not in a cringey way – I love a bit of good cheesy fun!

This book reminded me of the enemies-to-lovers, developer enters the scene to destroy a small business Hallmark film. I cannot get enough of these types of films, so I automatically couldn’t put this book down, it absolutely required my full attention!

I really enjoyed this enemies to lovers rom-com. The author did an amazing job with this book with added elements that makes it stand apart from other enemies to lovers stories. The characters were well written and relatable and you feel totally invested in their story. The connection between Blaine and Eric was interesting to watch grow and develop. But for me the main thing i adored was the flash back to the 80s. There was so much nostalgia that it made me want to get my leg warmers out and neon bangles out. This story made me smile, and laugh out loud in parts. I love the fight and determination Blaine has to save her store and her mother’s legacy.

Blaine has a very unique store in a shopping mall. Her story in my dream place as it sells everything you can imagine from the 80s. From toys and games to fashion and music Blaines store has it all. It was passed down to her after her mother passed away and she is determined to make it successful. It goes well until the shopping mall is sold to a construction company who wants to redevelop the area and that means moving Blaines shop.
When Blaine makes a bet with Eric (the son of the development company) does she stand any chance of saving her store? And if she wins what will that mean for Eric? Can he really pick her over the demands of his family? Could Blaine actually be the one to show him there is more to life than work? What happens as they spend time together and their connection grows.
This was such a sweet funny nostalgic story that I loved every second of it.
