A Cold day in Hell is the fifth book in the Life is Hell series by Naomi Valkyrie. The book focuses on two different point of views; Hadassah who is an angel sent to earth without powers, and on probation as a punishment. At first, she is very dislikable. She’s selfish, bratty and entitled. As the book progresses though so does her character, for the better with the help of the second main character, Jezebel.

Jezebel, a shifter, has been through hell and back. A necromancer by the name of Devland is after her. She thought she was safe living with a safehaven among other paranormal creatures. Until one day when she thinks she isn’t safe anymore. Deciding to run, bringing Hadassah along for the ride

I should disclose that I judged a book by its cover, but was not disappointed! When I saw the cover I didn’t realize this was the 5th book in the series. Even without reading the other books in the series, this book was great! It had all kinds of aspects that hold interest to me. Mystery, romance, drama, paranormal, magic, angels, demons, and even necromancy. It was all in all easy to understand, so I wasn’t confused as to what was going on around me.

Another big plus for me is that the book was LGBTQ friendly! There is a lot of same sex relationships going on in the background. Plus the two main characters, Hadassah and Jezebel have a will they won’t they vibe to their relationship.

I am definitely going to pick up the rest of the series!

Bittersweep is a romance taking place in the late 1890’s Texas but it has a mystery aspect to it as well. The main character, Elizabeth, left Bittersweep when she was kicked out of town at 5 years of age. Years later, she returns with a school teacher job and under a false name. She has questions about her past and she thinks she can only get answers from Bittersweep. Elizabeth is a very stubborn and witty woman, also very pretty who can turn the heads of almost all of the men who see her. She meets a man by the name of JP who seems familiar but she can’t quite put her finger on it. All she knows is not to trust his last name.

JP is what you would picture when you imagine a stereotypical 1890s rancher. Strong, handsome, and intelligent but with a soft spot. Both characters are very likeable from the beginning. I was rooting for them to get together the first time they met. JP immediately has a soft spot for Elizabeth. Being in charge of most of the town, he was involved in finding out who, what, where, when and why of a body was found shortly after a bank robbery took place.

I really enjoyed this book due to all the different aspects it touched along the way. It wasn’t just a romance, which made it so much more interesting to me.

You’ve heard of necromancers, but have you heard about the witches that stop the dead the necromancers have risen? This book takes a very well known dark magic and tells it from the other side. The good guys, the Grave Diggers.

I really enjoyed this book. I love tales about witches and other supernatural beings. This book was filled with fables and had a Harry Potter Vibe to it which was a bonus in of itself.

Makayla, the main character, is an outcast. In her family, she is the only girl, the only one with red hair and the only one sent to the Grave Digger Academy. With Necromancy being illegal, and as far as anyone is concerned, a “dead” craft, the Grave Digger Academy is where all of the untalented and rejected witches go.

Makayla starts off hating the fact that she is there but as time goes on, she realizes that maybe she, perhaps, belongs there. Things seem to be easier for her and all of the fables point to her being there.

The ending leads into another book being written. I can’t wait to read the next one in the series! I also think I found a new author to look into their other books!

This book was very touching to read. It surrounded the life of a seventeen year old boy growing up in something similar to a post apocalyptic world but still holding on to his beliefs and religion.

The book alternated between three different point of views. Jeremy, Ruth (Jeremy’s mother), and Leslie (a travelling midwife). All three characters were very likeable and easy to relate to.

There was a lot of Catholic religion in this story, a lot of tradition and a lot of easily to follow medical talk. It was subtle and by no means do you have to be religious to read this story. I certainly am not and I still was intrigued and touched by the story.

The only downfall, in my opinion, was that it ended to abruptly. The book mentioned a lot of the afterward of why Jeremy was impossibly pregnant, so I was waiting for what was to come. But it ended with the main event. Hopefully this is a series. I am very intrigued with who “they” are and what it all means in this new world!

I loved this book! It was a very cute and educational way to teach children ways to help the earth by playing to their love of animals. I myself am a bird lover, especially owls, so even though I am an adult I enjoyed it.

Its about a young bird named Mornin who decides to tape his flying adventures. He comes across sculptures of birds that no longer exist and is determined to make sure it doesn’t happen again. He gathers up all his animal friends and passes on his findings. The book then gives children ways to help make sure that the birds stay safe.

I would definitely recommend this read to anyone with kids!

First of all, I LOVED this book. The main character, Donovan, is written beautifully. He is gorgeous, polite, a little cocky and sometime talks like he is from the olden days.. which being a few hundred year old vampire, makes sense.

This book has everything! Vampires, were-bears, were-lynx, romance, law, mystery, murder, etc. Everything I love all in one!

Someone is going around killing a bunch of lawyers and no one knows why. Donovan, being a gorgeous play boy and a kick ass lawyer can bring many enemies so finding out who is doing this, takes a lot of investigation including some by magical beings. Donovan also becomes smitten with a human which makes things even more difficult for him.

One thing I loved about this book is that, the author also touched base with the other side of the book. We get a glimpse into the murderers life and motive.

Assuming the book’s title has Donovan Trait 1 on it, there might be a sequel! I will definitely be looking into more books written by Seelie Kay!

Blue Summer Part two starts off directly where Part One finished off. If you haven’t read the first part yet, I would suggest doing so before reading this book.
After reading the first book I was very intrigued to see where Part two was going to take me. Part one finished with a cliff hanger so I immediately started the second part and I was not disappointed.
The characters are sarcastic, witty, smart, caring and just really relatable except for, you know, the magical aspect of their lives. I loved seeing the relationships build into something powerful and loving. Lillie the main character always felt like an outcast but the Zayed made her feel like home even before becoming one of them.
There are a few unexpected twists in this story which made it more exciting than part one in my eyes. It is a quick and interesting read.

Do you like Romance? Magic? Wizards? Big blue men who live in mushrooms? If you answered yes to these questions then do I have a book for you! Blue Summer was an interesting book that reminded me of The Smurfs. They had a lot of similarities to the little blue men but sexier.
Lillie, the main character was sassy and sarcastic. I fell in love with her character almost instantly. She then meets the Zayed, who are the big blue men I mentioned above and the banter was comical. She seemed to be the only human that wasn’t afraid of the Zayed which made all of the men automatically like her.
Lillie is immersed into their world, trying to fit in, while knowing little to nothing about the Zayed. The book went into the history of the people which once again was like an adult version of The Smurfs.

First off, the title to this book is spot on! I read the whole book in one night. Once I started, I couldn’t stop. There were so many twists and turns that you never knew what was going to happen next. It was thrilling.
The author shined some light on some metal illness which as someone who also suffers from mental illness was very captivating for me. It helped me to connect to the main character Paloma. She was struggling to understand what was real and what was in her head which just added to the darkness of the book.
It was very well written and easy to connect with the characters.
I would highly recommend reading this title if you are looking for a mysterious and dark quick read!
