And….he’s back! Detective Petrosky is on his next deadly mission. Savage is Book 10 in the Ash Park Novel series by Meghan O’Flynn. Detective Edward Petrosky is in search of a lethal killer when they find the newborn baby of his regular server at the diner he normally goes to. This time he needs to dig deep and far to figure out this one! Everything in his life is starting to fall in line and everything is good when he figures out that all signs turn the same murderer that killed his partner many years ago. I swear, this series just keeps getting better and better! I love all of the twists and turns that are intertwined with story. You start at page one and you seriously cannot put it down. I get so involved with the storyline that I suddenly immerse myself in it and the next thing you know, I’m working right along with them to solve this case! I seriously cannot say enough about this book or this series. In my opinion, you should read this series from the beginning because you may get lost in the timeline. But, you can read this book on its own. You won’t be disappointed! Trust me!

Savage: An Ash Park Novel (Volume 10)Savage: An Ash Park Novel by Meghan O’Flynn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Detective Edward Petrosky returns and he is even more of a mess than last time, his sobriety is practically non-existent and although he hasn’t been caught with the alcohol yet, only time will tell as to whether he is, but he and his partner are still solving crimes despite it. He is woken too early as usual by the buzzing of his phone combined with his dogs terrible breath and slobber and as he goes to answer it, it is his partner on the other end, again as usual, however, today she is calling from somewhere all to familiar, the diner where he picks up his laced coffee most mornings because there has been a kidnapping . When he gets to the diner and realises just who is missing, and it his favourite waitress who doses up the coffee who is the victim, she is pregnant and due any day, but the thing which makes matters even worse is that the witness who called it in doesn’t have that much information to give them, so they have no leads and no idea who has taken her, but they have an idea where to start looking, those who were closest to her.

As they start to look into the case more, speak to people to try and find something, they just keep coming across dead end after dead end, the only lead they have is a truck, but with no make, model or even colour to go on, they are starting to lose hope of finding her alive. When he gets home, Petrosky wants nothing more than a drink, but instead he is faced with a family meal with his family and the girls who live next door, as well as his dog, he is trying to keep up appearances, but he is struggling, even though he loves them all dearly, he feels responsible for all that has befallen them. The next day Petrosky and his partner head to a house in the suburbs where a member of the public reported that a truck which could match the one they are looking for pulled up to the house, honked its horn and left, although they say that they didn’t see anyone going in, it isn’t guaranteed that they didn’t, but when they arrive and find that a newborn baby has been left in the basement surrounded by empty, but sealed cardboard boxes, it is clean and healthy, but has been abandoned, however, Petrosky realises that the scene has been set up and is almost identical to one he worked years before.

Later on at the diner, Petrosky and his partner meet with another detective and this is where the deja vu in the basement really hits home when the confirmation is made that it is connected to the past case which Petrosky wishes he could forget, but the similarities and connection to another homicide make it undeniable that there is a copycat on the loose, but there are differences as well and that is what Petrosky is trying to focus on. As Petrosky tries to hold things together and investigate what he can, but after the waitresses body is found, he has to come face to face with an old adversary to get some answers, but while he is there, one of the worst things that could happen does when one of the ladies next door is kidnapped. Will Petrosky be able to follow the trails of breadcrumbs which are the only leads he has, or will he be too late to save his friend, lie all the others he has failed before and will he be able to stop his drinking before it leads him to oblivion? This is another thrilling chase to solve a crime where everything points to a killer who should be dead, but you will be hooked into the investigation as much as the detectives as time passes by.

5 Stars

I was emotionally wrecked after finishing this book! Petrosky reached favorite leading man many books back, and because I feel so emotionally attached to him and these stories this one was my favorite and my least favorite of the entire series. How can that even make sense? The history of all of this series is always there eating at Petrosky and me as a reader, which explains why he stays a hot mess and takes me right along with him.

So you may not have to read the books before this one to fall into this book but you won’t get the whole effect of the emotional war taking place, so I highly recommend reading this entire series. It is seriously one of the absolute best series with some of the best writing you will ever experience in this genre. I have a few series I want to reread back to back and this one sits in my top three and have always said if this was a TV series, it would be binge worthy over and over again!

My thoughts are so jumbled so I’m not even going to try to sum this all up, but I will say it has everything and more you would want and even some things you might not even know you want.

They just keep getting better and better and better!

LOVED IT!!!!

As a massive Karen Slaughter and Tana French fan I was really looking forward to reading this. I haven’t read any of the previous Ash Park series novels but that wasn’t a problem as the book is easy to follow and anything that is mentioned from previous books is explained anyway. The writing is so clever I was kept in suspense through all the twists and turns of the book but was still able to keep up with the story. I definitely had no idea who the villain would turn out to be in the end and was pleasantly surprised when they were revealed. I really liked Petrosky as a protagonist. He has likable qualities but at the same time battles his demons and I found him realistic as a lead detective who has worked on the cases of the calibre he has. I am very interested to read the rest of the Ash Park series and will keep my eye out for the next instalment.

Savage is the tenth book in the Ash Park Series by Meghan O’Flynn. First, I want to say this is my favorite book of this series. Ms. O’Flynn can really weave a detailed, keep you on the edge of your seat psychological thriller. I think you need to read this series in order because there is a bunch of backstory that you pick up in the first nine books. But it is still a really good story if you just want to jump in, you just wont get all of the nuances that the author uses in her book. This book had me guessing until the end. Detective Petrosky is back and a killer is drawing him in. Will he be able to solve this case before he gets pulled into the rabbit hole? I highly recommend this book, series and author.

The author does it again. I cannot get enough of the Ash Park series and this book somehow topped its predecessors. Never sure how author continues to making every book better than the last – but she does it! Petrosky is a mess and the ride this book takes you on is one you won’t be able to walk away from. From beginning to end, this five star read is one you will want to read over and over again.

This is number 10 in the Ash Park Series and it is just as captivating as the others. All these books can be read as standalone bool but I would recommend reading them in order so you get the full backstory of the characters. This book is dark and dangerous and is a story you can’t put down.

Petrosky is back. With his personal life spiralling out of control with his drinking demons  back with vengence he is now on the most dangerous case of his career.

Can he keep it together to capture the killer that killed his partner   slipped through his fingers before? Or will his drinking problem affect his ability to do his job?

I look forward to the day I get to binge on the next book in this series.!! Petrosky is back and it’s personal. The killer makes Petrosky have to dive into his own past especially when a waitress who’s pregnant goes up missing. They find the baby but no waitress….and Petrosky believes her to be dead. A gripping thrill-ride that will keep you on the edge of your seat. O’Flynn knows how to keep you on the edge with the story a fast-paced roller coaster from beginning to end!

So I really liked this book and for the most part, it can be read as a standalone which I did. There was only a few times I was like whattt but I’m sure once I go back and read the rest of the series (which I will be doing) because I was hella invested in this book. It kept me on the edge of my seat and I can’t wait to read more. I really liked the characters and the story. I really liked some of the dark themes we had running through this book. If you like mystery, suspense, or psychological thrillers this is the book for you.

When you have to crawl back down the rabbit hole to find a killer, can Petrosky survive not just the serial killer but his own mind.

Detective Petrosky is in the middle of the most deadliest investigation of his career, he will have to go deep into his past to be able to find the monster who is on the loose.

I have to say this is the best book so far, I feel deeply for poor Petrosky I thought he could not feel anymore pain and that he could finally be free from the pain and his history but yet again a psycho is still threatening him and his posse.

This story is full of thrilling twists and turns and will have you hiding behind the sofa so to speak, the story weaves you deeper into Petrosky history which drives him deeper into his mind and the deadly cat and mouse chase with the next killer. I loved the psychological aspect and getting into the mind of both characters, and oh my was that dangerous for everyone.

If you love a really good story with twists and turns this is definitely a book for you, to get the best insight it is probably beat to read the whole series as each book builds stepping stones into the life of Petrosky and his friends and would be a great series to read. I don’t know whether to thank you Meghan or call the physiologist.

Savage is the tenth book in the Ash Park series. It really helps to get the full impact of this story if you read the previous books.
This book is intense and I couldn’t put it down. I felt so bad for Petrosky; he’s been through so much and now he’s got to face down the past in a harsh way. Intrigue, suspense, danger – it’s definitely a dark thriller that will keep you turning the pages.

While I was shocked and filled with sorrow over this story I struggled at times. Too much depth into Petrosky’s psyche..over and over. If you have read any of these books you will know he feels guilt. I got tired of his self flaggulation over everything. Maybe it’s a cops remorse I don’t know. With that being said I still enjoyed this look into the past. Those were my favorite books. When Petrosky was just a grumpy drunk who still had fire and Morrison just a kid. Now Petrosky seems to have just become barely living and swimming in self doubt and guilt. Hopefully after this book he will become a little lighter.

Overall this is a good one. Brought tears to my eyes and an ache to my heart. It kinda put closure on the past. I’m hoping his future is brighter.

I will never ever get enough of this series from Meghan O’Flynn. I picked up that first book in the Ash Park Series way back a few years ago and I have personally reread all of them a time or two since. This newest addition, Savage, will be no different and I am sure will find myself picking it back up soon. O’Flynn does a wonderful job of writing these books so realistically you feel as if you are really right there in the gore and danger along with the detectives. We see our old friend again, Detective Petrosky, and boy he did not disappoint this time around either. I loved these books so much and I could never say enough good things about them, but I will not divulge any of the details because these are books that have to be read and discovered page by page by each person. They will keep you up at night finding out what is going to happen and then haunt your dreams as you try to actually sleep. This is one series you do not want to miss out on, and Savage is one of my favorites of the whole thing so don’t wait, one-click today!

Petrosky, this man is quickly becoming my favorite fictional character. Edward Petrosky is back and so are the super evil people in his life. A killer is back, back from the histories of Petrosky’s own past and he isn’t prepared for what that might mean. Setting aside the fact that he can barely get through the day without taking a shot of whiskey in the morning, a waitress from his favorite diner has gone missing, and she is due with her baby any day now. When the baby shows up, abandoned in the basement of a rundown house, Petrosky is worried she may be already dead. Is it the killer?
O’Flynn is a fabulous story teller. I have LOVED this series from Volume 1 – 10. This is a fabulous series and is best read in story book order. 4 out of 5 stars.

This is the tenth book in the Ash Park Series by Meghan O’Flynn and as such, I really recommend reading the other books in the series, before starting on this one, as there is so much backstory, background information, and other important details that really help to build the intensity and a much bigger picture.
Detective Edward Petrosky has been through so much, but he’s not about to get a break anytime soon and is thrown into a serial killer investigation that will test him at every turn. It’s dark, tense, gripping, raw and gritty- and I loved every minute!
I hope Det. Petrosky has a few more stories in him yet!

In Savage, we find Petrosky at the heart of an investigation that will shake up his world even more than it already is. The past resurfaces and spreads its tentacles around Petrosky and his entourage, and slides him even lower in his descent into hell. This is by far my favourite book of this series, from the very first chapter I knew I was in for a treat, so many little clues were laid and long-awaited questions were answered. I would highly recommend reading this series in order, each book follows the last and therefore is best enjoyed reading one after the other.

This author has always done an incredible job with having me sitting on the edge of my seat chapter after chapter and Savage was on a whole other level. It was haunting, breath taking, twisted, unexpected and so captivating. I read this book in one sitting as I couldn’t bring myself to stop reading. Another journey into the drama of Petrosky. I was really taken down the rabbit hole with this one. The author brings the past and present to a explosive combination. I found that the author has done a great job of bringing the characters to life and bring the drama too boot. I found myself on the edge of my seat on this one.

Petrosky is so so messed up and I really have all the feels for him. He is a great detective but in this book we really see him as I see it really hit rock bottom. I really like how the author is able to bring his past into this and things seem to come full circle and I hope this is the beginning of healing for the main character Petrosky but only time will tell. This being not my go to genre has really had me out of my comfort zone. I have to admit that the series does get very dark but the author has a refreshing style that brings things to a head and brings a bit off silver lining to the darkness. I will definitely read more from this author in the future.

Savage (Ash Park Series Book 10) by Meghan O’Flynn
Genre – Crime/Hard-boiled Mystery
Page Count – 270 pages
Cover Designer – Fresh Design
Things are looking up for Detective Edward Petrosky. His grandkids are back in town, the girls next door are remarkably well-adjusted, and he’s solving homicides as quickly as ever. It doesn’t matter that he’s sneaking shots before morning briefings; whiskey or no, he’s still getting the job done.
But his tenuous grasp on professionalism falters when he’s called to the scene of a kidnapping—the waitress from the diner he frequents has gone missing, the only server who knows he takes his coffee with a little liquor. And she’s due with her first baby any day.
It isn’t long before they find her newborn child abandoned in a nearby cellar—does that mean the woman is already dead? And the infant isn’t even the most distressing piece of evidence. Petrosky cannot overlook the similarities to a past case he wishes he could forget, a brutal pattern of abductions that ended with a killer torturing young women to death in his basement. That same savage killed his partner, a man Petrosky had regarded as his son.
But it’s not possible—years ago, Petrosky himself watched that maniac’s head explode in a shower of red mist. Could it be a copycat? The series of dead men found shrink-wrapped in their cars seems to suggest a serial killer patterned after the murder of his partner. But Petrosky can’t shake the feeling that there is more to the connection than they can see. Perhaps their current suspect knew the original killer—even psychos sometimes had accomplices. Or fall guys.
When one of his neighbors is kidnapped, a girl he sees as family, Petrosky’s suspicions are confirmed. Clues left at the scene lead them to the weapon used to slit his partner’s throat, one piece of the puzzle they’d never been able to locate.
This isn’t just evidence. It’s a warning.
It may be impossible, but it’s true: the man who killed his partner has returned, and he’s taking the people Petrosky loves one by one. Will Petrosky be able to locate a killer more cunning than any he’s ever encountered? Or will his fragile grasp on sanity finally snap?
Dark, gut-wrenching, and unputdownable, Savage is a knock-the-wind-out-of-you thriller that will keep you reading to the final, unforgettable page. If you liked Sharp Objects or The Wire, you’ll love Savage.
