Secrets, Lies and Betrayals (Protect and Honor Series) by Lynn Wood – Review by Micalah Weatherholtz

Secrets, Lies and Betrayals (Protect and Honor Series #1)Secrets, Lies and Betrayals by Lynn Wood
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Secrets, Lies, and Betrayals by Lynn Wood is book 1 in The Protect and Honor Series. It’s also the first book I have read by this author. This is a political thriller, with some romance, a little drama, suspense, and intrigue. It’s definitely one of those books that grab you in the beginning and doesn’t let you go until the end. The characters are lifelike, believable, and could jump right off the page. I also really liked how we were able to see the story from different point of views which helps to immerse your self in the story and see it as a whole which I’ve always really enjoyed. I’m looking forward to book 2.

Secrets, Lies and Betrayals (Protect and Honor Series) by Lynn Wood – Review by Jessie Hopkins

Holy Cow! I wasn’t even to the first chapter and was already wanting to clear my schedule because I knew this was worth a binge read.
I felt such a wide variety of emotions throughout this book. Pride, shock, devastation, heartbreak, comfort, relief, the entire array.
I truly felt connected to the character and was engrossed in the story. The desire for Lea to stay away from the media and politics, to live her own life and find her own way. The closeness that she felt with Max being the one person in her life to always protect her and help her however she should need. The joy and relationship she had with her grandmother.
I am anxiously awaiting the net book and look forward to getting to know Max better.

Introducing Maxwell Cole and The Protect and Honor Series with Special Pre-order Pricing.Another Life Shattered by One More Madman with a Gun…When three-year-old Michaela Manning is gravely wounded and barely survives her grandfather’s assassination at the hands of political extremists, her family hides her away from public life under an assumed name.Maxwell Cole, a special forces operative, was assigned to security that fateful day in Tel Aviv. He was the guard who took a young, wounded Michaela from the Senator’s dying arms and raced with her to the waiting medical helicopter in a desperate attempt to save her life. When Michaela re-enters public life, her parents ask Max to head her security and keep her hidden and safe as there is still concern in intelligence circles Michaela is a potential target of the group responsible for her grandfather’s death. Now an adult, Michaela is busy creating a life for herself in Rome as sculpture artist, Lea Milan. She rarely thinks of her former life and identity, recognizing the woman she might have become as Michaela Manning died two decades earlier on a bright Tel Aviv morning when the single shot that killed her grandfather very nearly claimed both their lives. But Michaela’s father is an ambitious man and has his sights set on the most powerful elected office in the world. When Mitchell Manning wins his party’s nomination for President of the United States, his long-lost daughter, Michaela, becomes the center of a media storm. In Rome, Lea holds her breath in the lead up to the presidential election, praying her assumed name and assumed life withstands the onslaught of the unrelenting media scrutiny.Lea’s desperate hope proves futile. Her anonymity is shattered, and her two identities collide with devastating consequences to the life she was building beyond her past. The resulting media storm forces Lea back into hiding, while Max tries to uncover who was behind the breach revealing her identity to the world. Her father’s campaign takes advantage of the leak, reminding the avid public the threat to his daughter’s life is still out there. There’s no shortage of extremists, both domestic and international, in the current divisive political environment across the world. And yet, lurking in the shadows beneath the heated election rhetoric is a menace no one suspects, intent on violence and on reshaping the world order. But this time the threat is closer to home and has Lea in its crosshairs.
