Sessrúmnir (Antipodes Series Book 5) by T.S. Simons – Review by Shelly Kittell

Sessrumnir (Antipodes #5)Sessrumnir by T.S. Simons
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh goodness, this being the final book in the series is bittersweet and good. I have read this series from the start. It has been one of my favorites. I have come to love following the adventures of Cam and Freya during this time. As their journey is slowing in this book, I find the drama and adventure still just as exciting and gripping as it was in the first book. The author has tied up all the loose-ends every well. Everything is being wrapped up so you almost feel like you are sending off a friend. This series has really shown how these kids worked together to get through hard times, especially during the pandemic, which basically wiped out the world. The series should us a lot lot courage, bravery, and strong men and women. I would definitely recommend reading these books in order.

I was so excited to read the next book in this series. Each book adds so much to it and it keeps getting better and better. I wish this weren’t the last in the series because it is that good. This book really pulls you straight back into this world you have become so familiar with and the characters you have grown to love.
This book is packed full of everything I have come to expect from this author. It was exciting to read but also kept the romance and emotional elements to it. I could not put this book down once I had started reading. This is a fantastic story that I thoroughly enjoyed and amazing series overall.

This is a series that I have enjoyed reading from the first book. This is the fifth book which I highly recommend reading the previous books in this series to help your enjoyment of this series and author. I enjoy how the author has the ability to pull me into their story from the start. The characters come to life on each page by their writing skills and attention to details. This is a well written story that will make you question how far you will go to protect your children. This is a story you don’t want to miss. A fast paced story that is hard to put down. A story that is full of emotion with relationships and family. I can’t wait to see what is next for this author. I highly recommend this book and this author.

The book begins with Freya and Cam being at odds with each other. About the time that Freya decides to move on, tragedy strikes Freya’s children in their community and two others. Their friends take matters into their own hands and help a reconciliation happen because they need both of them to figure out how to protect what is theirs. As the team gathers up Freya’s scattered children, they meet up with unexpected friends, revisit the past, and find out how far they will go to protect each other.

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this series. I am sad to see it end, but I loved how everything was tied up in the end! Freya, Cam, Sorcha, and Illy are wonderful examples of friend/family relationships. They aren’t easy, they are messy, but in the end, they have each other’s backs. It was interesting to read about Freya- a normally strong character- show some cracks and have PTSD and anxiety issues that she had to learn how to cope with during their travels. T.S. Simons has done a phenomenal job with this series!

I have been a loyal fan since the first book in this series, I knew the series coming to an end would make me feel things, but I did not expect to feel as much as I did! I was sad to depart from this wonderful journey with the characters I have watched grow and learn through each book, but it was a happy ending as well. loose ends were tied. The ending was heartfelt and full of emotion. It was beautiful!

To me, this was my favorite in the series. Not that it was the final book I would get to read for the first time…it was how my beloved characters were so developed mentally and emotionally. Whom they started as and who they became. They went through a lot…and I mean a lot! But that only made them stronger. This one was not short of action either when peace is disrupted with the ones you hold dear, I am sure any of us would have reacted the same as what happened in the book. Family is number one to me. I love how that is played through each of the book. This book had a lot of emotions as I have said, and part of that is letting go which was beautiful in its own way. The author wrote such an amazing series. That I loved so much. I cannot thank them enough for this journey I was put on because of them! I cannot wait till they start a new series which I am sure I will love as much as this one! Thank you to this wonderful and talented author!
This may be farewell Antipodes, but it is not good bye, more less, I ll re-visit you again later!

Wonderful conclusion to a very perfect and amazing series. I could not have asked for more, maybe a few more books as I didn’t want to let go! Highly recommend this book/series/author! A must read all around!

This was a bit of a bitter-sweet read for me as I desperately wanted to know how the series would conclude, but I also wasn’t quite ready to say goodbye. Even though I have loved the other books in the series, I have to say that this is probably the best book to come out of the series… the author definitely left the best till last.
Sessrúmnir is the fifth and final book in the Antipodes series by T.S. Simons. It is a post-apocalyptic, dystopian story with sci-fi elements, romance, adventure, discovery, action, danger, drama, friendship, challenges, Norse Mythology, environmental/sustainability/community messages, love, loss, surprising developments, tension, mystery, and emotion.
So much has happened since we embarked on this adventure back in book one- but we still have to face these final hurdles. It has been six years since the events of the previous book, Caim, and the peaceful existence that they have enjoyed is under threat by an unknown force. Their children are attacked… peaceful existence no more…. so they will need to pull together in order to protect everything they hold dear. Buckle up as the tension levels are ramped up and we are thrust into dangers unknown. Now this, right here, is how you wrap up a series! Such a bitter-sweet moment!
Looking forward to seeing what Ms. Simon’s has in store for us next!
Happy Reading!

Thank you, T.S. Simons!

Sessrumnir (Antipodes #5)Sessrumnir by T.S. Simons
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sessrúmnir is the fifth book in the Antipodes series. This is an exciting sci-fi series set in a dystopian future where most of humanity has been wiped out and the survivors have many new challenges to face. It’s worth reading the series in order, so begin with book one, Antipodes, if you haven’t already read it.
This is an exciting page-turner, bringing the series to a great conclusion. Everyone’s been living with the new normal for a while, and starting to try and settle into a routine and look to the future. But things can so easily be disrupted, with Freyja finding it impossible to commit to something as simple as a date without her world being turned upside down.
It was great to see more of the younger children in this book. I also liked that they addressed the psychological impact of events in the characters’ pasts – so often the characters need to be strong and focus on survival so it was powerful that there was space for this.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this series, and watching the characters grow and develop across many years and books. I’d recommend it to all fans of dystopias and near-future speculative fiction. The worldbuilding satisfies a lot of “what-ifs” and the characters are fantastic!

Sessrúmnir is the fifth book in this great dystopian post-apocalyptic story. Unfortunately, it is also the last book in this series. I have read all the books in this series and will tell you to make sure to read the books in order. If you don’t you are missing out on so much and each book gets better than the last. The characters have become favourites as I have journeyed along with them with their struggles and lives so far.

Tanya’s writing draws you in and makes you invested in the what happens. But expect the unexpected when reading her books.

Emotions run high as once again everything is in peril and everyone must come together once again to fight for what they love most. Who can they trust?

I look forward to what comes next from this author.

But when children are attacked by an unknown enemy, Cam and Freyja must reunite to save their family and protect their children.

The couple is forced to take drastic action. Joining with friends new and old, they rush to discover who is behind the threat to their peaceful existence and eliminate it before it claims more lives. Love, loss, and relationships are challenged in the fifth and final installment of this romantic science fiction series.

T.S. Simons is an Australian-based author of Scottish heritage. Living in the alpine region of Australia, she believes in the values of sustainability and community in a world where we place greater value on possessions than people. She enjoys posing philosophical questions that make readers think, and reflect on the world we live in. The Antipodes series addresses the question—if we gave young people the opportunity to start over, would we replicate the mistakes of the past?

Her desire to assist others saw her working in international development before realising that her passion lay in education. She holds Bachelor and Masters degrees from Monash University and enjoys reading, travelling, mythology, snow skiing, and attempting to live as sustainably as possible. She is owned by two, rather bossy, standard schnauzers and two rescue cats who co-manage her household.

The Antipodes series comprises Antipodes, The Liminal Space, Ouroboros, Caim and Sessrumnir. She is developing a related series, The 45th Parallel, which extends on the Antipodes series. This series comprises The 45th Parallel, Orenda and Bifrost.
