Degrees of Innocence: Dark Mafia Romance (Cruel Deceptions Book 1) By Via Mari – Review by Shania Webb

Degrees of Innocence (Prestian Series, #1)Degrees of Innocence by Via Mari
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

While this book wasn’t what I was expecting, there were very good qualities for this story. Chase and Katarina are the perfect example of ‘Don’t Judge a Book by Its Cover’. Where Katarina is unsure of what she wants from being in a romantic relationship, Chase knows exactly what and who he wants but things quickly become complicated when the deals done in the dark are brought to light and Katarina isn’t sure if she has what it takes to be with him. Chase refuses to even entertain the idea of her not being by his side, Chase is willing to do whatever it takes to get her to be with him and while Katarina struggles with her own morals and values, she is often left confused and scared because she doesn’t know who to trust and who is willing to harm or help her, can she trust Chase when she doesn’t know all the information? And when he is hesitant to share everything with her, can he let his walls down and finally let someone in?

Devlin by Angela K. Parker – Review by Shania Webb

DevlinDevlin by Angela K. Parker
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book had me on the edge the entire time, it was a bit of a slow build up. But that doesn’t mean it wasn’t amazing! We follow Devlin and Evelyn who are coworkers, Devlin is a massive flirt and womanizer and Eve refuses to see him as anything more than her annoyingly flirtatious partner at their job. But Eve can’t help but appreciate his looks even though his personality annoys the ever-living crap out of her, but when the tension between them becomes too much and Eve’s newly single status has her in a slump. Devlin comes to the rescue by being annoyingly handsome and surprisingly caring and attentive, after one taste neither of them can get the other out of their minds and they want nothing more than to be with each other. But when their wants become a risk to their job, are they willing to take the risk? Or would they rather revert back to their safety bubbles of quietly pining for one another? Can they survive the surprises and twists coming their way?
