The fourth book in the series, follows Romano and Raven, a vampire and a witch who are meant to be sworn enemies, when their paths cross. Neither can deny their attraction and fascination to the other, nor do they want to, when things take a twist and Raven is put in between following her upbringing or her heart. The choice is easy for her; Romano however is already on thin ice due to how his past dealings as a master look to the rest of the Consulate, But his question is can he have both. Or does he have to choose one?

The first book in the Masters of the Consulate series by Sylvia Black tells the story Lucianna and Salvatore. When women end up missing who have had a history with a vampire in the past, The police force put Luce on the case. Seeing as how she has psychic abilities they think she can help the most in finding the missing women, but things get complicated when the evidence points to the vampire community. Enter Salvatore Descallia the Overmaster of all the vampires, they form an unlikely alliance when her captain puts her undercover at his casino, only there’s one issue neither of them can stand to be away from the other one and it stirs up emotions they never thought would affect them and make things a lot more dangerous and hotter.
