Trusting Love (Clumsy Little Hearts Trilogy Book 1) by Julie Navickas – Review by Sharon Funkhouser

Trusting Love (Clumsy Little Hearts Trilogy Book 1)Trusting Love by Julie Navickas
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Trusting Love was a fun read! First book I’ve read by Julie Navickas and I enjoyed her realistic portrayal of the quickly developing romance. The main characters both had independent backstories that really added to the progression of their relationship (for better or for worse!). Both Tess and Ryan have had rocky previous relationships and easily let their past issues become present, but their family and friends help them work through their issues and push them to better their circumstances. Fun read! Excited to read the rest of trilogy!

Finding Love (Clumsy Little Hearts Trilogy Book 2) by Julie Navickas – Review by Sharon Funkhouser

Finding Love (Clumsy Little Hearts Trilogy Book 2)Finding Love by Julie Navickas
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was able to read the Clumsy Little heart books 1 and 2 back to back, and while I definitely prefer being able to do that, I do appreciate that Finding Love, book 2, could easily be a standalone. There are definite references to material from book 1, but nothing that was imperative to the story being read independently.
I really enjoyed the author’s realistic take on relationships and their problems, for better or for worse. Both Rachel and Miguel fell quickly into a relationship and while they had a quick honeymoon period, they also quickly found moments of insecurity and jealousy which happens in most new relationships. A fun, quick and easy read, filled with entertaining moments and endearing talk with a bit of steam. Looking forward to book 3!

Shadowed Obsession (Shadow Defense Security Series Book 1) by Mavery Ellscott – Review by Sharon Funkhouser

Shadowed Obsession: An Action-Packed Romantic Suspense Thriller (Shadow Defense Security Series Book 1)Shadowed Obsession: An Action-Packed Romantic Suspense Thriller by Mavery Ellscott
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

My go-to genre isn’t necessarily to pick a thriller, so I was pleasantly surprised with Shadowed Obsession. Suspense was woven throughout the novel as Keira’s stalker ramped up their tactics and sexual tension rose between Keira and her attractive retired Seal neighbor, Cade.
I am glad this is a series with the Shadowy Defense Security company Cade is a part of, I felt like there was so much more to explore with Cade and his partner’s backgrounds. Pieces of their stories were touched upon, but between the Shadow Defense prior military experiences and the clients Keira had at the PR firm, there are a lot of opportunities to expand upon and I hope character development overlaps!
Very enjoyable read, with just the right amount of sexual tension to make the romance aspect just as fun!

The Secret Humankind (The Discoveries of Julia Xero Book 1) by Gloria Oliver – Review by Sharon Funkhouser

The Secret Humankind: An Urban Fantasy Thriller (The Discoveries of Julia Xero Book 1)The Secret Humankind: An Urban Fantasy Thriller by Gloria Oliver
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book I read by Gloria Oliver, and it was quite enjoyable! I love a fantasy novel that is rooted in reality- Julia’s character leads a life and has had experiences that reflect modern day society, and the fantasy aspect becomes interwoven throughout the story, naturally. The character dialogue and interactions develop with the ups and downs one usually encounters when meeting new people and starting a new job, which adds to the relatability of the story as well. Groundwork was nicely laid for the continuation of the series, and I am eager to read the next installment of The Secret Humankind!
