The Guardian of Whispers (The Reeds of West Hills Book 1) by B. E. Padgett – Review by Sharon Funkhouser

The Guardian of Whispers (The Reeds of West Hills #1)The Guardian of Whispers by B.E. Padgett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely LOVED this book. As an avid reader, I seek out stories that have continuing characters because when you fall in love with a character, you never want their story to end. The first draw to me was that this is a series, the next was the fantasy aspect. I think sometimes “fantasy” can get a bad rap; I enjoy stories that take ordinary people and give them a touch of the extraordinary, which is exactly what B.E. Padgett did with this story!
This book probably falls under the teen/young adult category, in terms of audience it was written for, but I enjoyed it just as thoroughly as I do books “written for me” (meaning my age group). I have a son in elementary school, and although the Reed boys are a bit older than my kiddo, I easily could see my son and his friends as the characters in this book, and that added to the fun!

So very much looking forward to book 2!

Undying Light (The Stella Maris Series Book 1) by Aurora Wildey – Review by Sharon Funkhouser

Undying LightUndying Light by Aurora Wildey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Not being familiar with Aurora Wildey’s writing, I was pleasantly surprised! This was an easy to read paranormal light romance written in multi-character POV.
Kaela is a college aged student living on her own in a seedy part of town, with one close friend, a hard to please father and a nursing career she’s working hard to obtain. Her father owns the building she lives in, along with a clinic he runs on the main floor. Terran grew up in a well-to-do family and works as an attorney, against his mother’s wishes. Seth is a business man of an even higher class than Terran’s family, with financial resources to spare.
Each of them has a secret.
When a robbery at the clinic goes wrong, Kaela’s life is in danger and Terran and Seth become intimately involved in her protection, and the protection of each of their secrets.
