The Secret Aftermath (The Discoveries of Julia Xero Series) by Gloria Oliver – Review by Sharon Funkhouser

The Secret Aftermath: An Urban Fantasy Thriller (The Discoveries of Julia Xero Book 2)The Secret Aftermath: An Urban Fantasy Thriller by Gloria Oliver
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I read a lot of fiction, but don’t typically choose science fiction. I have read both of the Julia Xero books that are currently published and have really enjoyed both of them. Gloria Oliver does a good job creating a science-fiction world embedded in “the real world” and characters you feel connected to. Book 2 picks up right where book 1 ended (I only minorly regret not having re-read book 1 before picking up book 2, the gap of time had some of the details a little bit fuzzy) but I love when books continue on as if you haven’t missed a beat. Definitely looking forward to book 3!

Forever to Fall (Buckeye Falls Book 5) by Libby Kay – Review by Sharon Funkhouser

Forever to Fall (Buckeye Falls, #5)Forever to Fall by Libby Kay
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have read every single Buckeye Falls book so far and this one might be my favorite. I loved the characters, love Buckeye Falls as a setting (seriously, how much more Hallmark can you get?) and love the background of Mallory and Beckett’s childhood friendship. A fantastic cozy romance that you’ll find so endearing!
