This was such a lovely collection of short stories about Sasha and some of the things she comes across in her everyday life. I really liked the length of the stories, I can imagine children reading one each night before bed. Each one provides different opportunities for children to think about what they would do in Sasha’s position. There are some illustrations in the book to accompany each story but this book probably would be more suitable for children 7 and up I feel.
Overall a lovely book of short stories that I would definitely recommend for young readers.

This was really an inspirational book. I really think many young girls can relate to Sasha and the many real life situations explored in this book. The stories described real issues that young girls and boys deal with daily in their journey as they are growing up and in school. It also offered real solutions that every child can put into action to resolve the issues if they are facing it. I recommend this book to every young girl who needs help navigating the real world.

Sasha Smart: Short Stories for Girls by Shermaine Perry-Knights was absolutely adorable. They were short enough that it kept my 3.5 year olds attention. I do think it was geared more towards older girls, probably around 7+ but it opened up conversations about being ourselves and not caring what other people think. We liked the pictures and the messages, especially that you don’t have to be perfect. There were several stories that discussed different scenarios that children may be in. Overall I liked the book and would definitely recommend it to friends with girls!

I really enjoyed reading this book about Sasha and her experiences as a young lady. The author did a great job of developing short stories that put Sasha in a place to be empowered, kind, show her confidence and to be brave. I loved that the end of the book included vocabulary and word wall work – this is good for teachers and for those girls who love words! The character of Sasha is very relatable to any young girl, as are the scenarios she finds herself in. One story that I found very important was the story about relaxing – finding time to enjoy life… this is especially important in today’s world where we rush, rush, rush to get everything in place, to win, to be the top. Sasha has some great lessons to share!

This is such a good book for 8-12 year olds. It is not easy being a girl of this age at school. This book has several short stories that show us how Sasha sees herself as inferior and not enough. But, the author tells these stories to show that Sasha is important and that each girl is more than enough. In a world where mean girls exist, this book is very much needed.

Sasha Smart by Shermaine Perry-Knights. This is an amazing collection of short stories for girls aged 8-12 that are inspiring, uplifting and so full of self love. I so wish I had this book when I was young. The biggest focus of this book is self acceptance and self love, which is so important for young kids especially young girls today. Each story is a different problem young girls might go thru and they really focus on communication with their parents. The stories are about bravery, peer pressure, loving yourself and being positive. We all have bad things in our lives but how we react to them are 1/2 the battle. I think these stories would be great for teachers and parents alike. Every girl in this age group should get this book. I’m buying all the girls in my family one! This set of stories would make the prefect gift!

Sasha is a great girl who, like many teen girls, is a little short on confidence. This book focuses on how Sasha can use her inner strength to become a better person. There are several short stories that cover everything from peer pressure, bullying, and accepting oneself.

What I loved about this book is that Sasha *is* a strong person. She loves science and she’s really smart. She has great friends who really care for her. She’s a caring person herself.

What I didn’t like so much about this book is that it was written to look like Sasha could only get these important attributes that she was struggling with from her friends. While friends are VERY important, they are not the only way that she could have grown from these experiences. There was little interaction with family, and they can be the strongest influence. I would have liked to seen a stronger family bond written about in this book. There was some, but I feel like a story about her mom, dad, grandma/grandpa, aunt/uncle could have made this story much better.

This would be a great gift idea for a young teen girl. The stories are very short (3-4 pages each) and there are some pictures included.

Sasha Smart: Short Stories for Girls is a true gem. Inspirational, positive learning, overcoming obstacles, acceptance of others with good messages I believe this is a great book for some good discussions on topics that truly can hit home. While this book is geared more toward ages 8-12, Sasha gives great examples and senarios that even the older crowd can learn or use as a reminder.

This collection of short stories is engaging with some great illustrations in between. I love the feeling of building confidence in a young girl as she navigates different real life senarios that we all have been subjected to in one time or another.

I highly recommend this book for any girl to read. Inspiring!

This book is an inspiring and fantastic book that I loved being able to share with my daughter. The messages and acceptance throughout these stories was incredible to see and it was a great way to have specific discussions with my daughter.
The fact that the book is a collection of short stories, rather than one whole story, made it even better. It allows the target audience to focus on one aspect, digesting it and being able to explore the ideas, before moving on to the next. This book is perfectly written with the audience in mind and even I enjoyed reading through it. This is a brilliant book that I would urge everyone to try.

These are wonderful stories that do a great job at building confidence in young girls. I really like the fact that they work on instilling that failure is okay as long as you learn from it and try again. To keep trying is okay. These are positive and inspiring stories. I will buy a copy for each of my granddaughters.
