My rating: 3 of 5 stars

IMPORTANT BEFORE READING THIS BOOK! You should read the first 2 books before reading Abnormally Abbey and Class Clown.
Spook Squad by Allan Evans is a good horror book about magic and High school students. There is weird stuff that is happening in this school, and it all revolves around the main character 14-year-old Abbey. I like how this book was written in the view of Abbey and how this book dips into the horror aspect. Abbey is a great written character and is written exactly like a high school student. So, if you are into horror and suspense pls grab some food such as popcorn and a nice drink and enjoy this book.

Another great book from Allan Evans! Spooky Squad is a young adult paranormal story than continues with the life of 14 year old Abbey who can communicate with ghosts. You absolutely can read this book on its own but I would recommend that you read them in order as this is the third book and you learn so much about Abbey and her gift in the first two books. She has a small group of friends that know about her abilities and are there to support her and help in her adventures with the paranormal. I would highly recommend this book whether for your young adult reader, or for anyone who enjoys young adult paranormal stories.

I loved this spooky YA thriller. This is the third installment in the series, but I didn’t know that and it read perfectly fine as a standalone. I’m sure that reading the other two first would fill in some minor gaps but I don’t believe it to be necessary. I love Abbey as a character and her friends are awesome! I loved to see her development over the course of the book and her snarky inner thoughts (that sometimes got said out loud) were amazing. The whole concept of Abbey not only as a character but also as a plot line was done amazingly well. This is the perfect read for spooky season; especially if you are looking for something with a little spook but not a lot of fright.

Allan is a unique storyteller, especially when his characters are facing overwhelming challenges. *Spook Squad* is the third book in the Abbey series and follows 14-year-old Abbey, who possesses extraordinary gifts (or a curse), alongside her best friends Kelly and Lexi in this high-stakes adventure. I really enjoyed *Class Clown*, so it was a no-brainer to one-click this book. I highly recommend reading the first two books in the series to understand more of Abbey’s backstory, but they can also be enjoyed as standalones.

In this thrilling paranormal YA tale, you’ll find danger, drama, suspense, mystery, and humor. In a world where communicating with ghosts is the norm, searching for dangerous artifacts is the main challenge, and strong-armed federal agents keep the Spook Squad on their toes in an action-packed, fast-paced adventure that you won’t want to end.

The characters are well-developed, relatable, and a bit quirky. Allan’s narrative makes it easy for readers to visualize Abbey and her surroundings. You might think twice about reading this with the lights off—or maybe you won’t!

Abbey knows she is lucky to have her best friends by her side, as they support her even when spirits come knocking and chaos ensues. Will they find what they are searching for before the evil Manfred Krug catches up with them?

Spook Squad by Allan Evans is an intriguing YA paranormal story that was difficult to put down until the very end. This story has a bit of everything- paranormal, thrill, adventure, friendship, mystery, humor and more. Abbey is a young teenager with a special gift that makes her far from normal. She can see and speak to spirits and supernatural beings. She has her own little ‘Spooky Gang’ of friends who support her despite her quirkiness, and work along side her on her paranormal adventures. This story is a part of a series, however, I had no issues reading this as a standalone. The writing was fantastic. The story and characters were well-written and given just enough depth that the story flowed perfectly without the feeling that it was dragging on. Overall, this was really a fun, spooky and enjoyable read! I look forward to going back and reading the other stories of Abbey as well!

“Spook Squad” by Allan Evans is a thrilling supernatural adventure that expertly blends ghostly encounters with high-stakes danger. Fourteen-year-old Abbey’s unique ability to communicate with the dead thrusts her and her friends into a dangerous hunt for powerful relics, guided by a mysterious federal agent. Evans crafts a fast-paced narrative filled with suspense, as Abbey and her “spook squad” navigate some of Minnesota’s most haunted locations while being pursued by a sinister force. The richly detailed world-building, combined with well-developed characters, brings both the supernatural elements and the emotional stakes to life. “Spook Squad” is a captivating read for young adult fans of paranormal mystery, offering a fresh and engaging twist on ghost stories. I will also add that this is the third book in the series, and I have not read the first two. This was an easy-to-pick-up read that was easily able to be read without reading the prior two.

Loving this series. Abbey and her squad have their hands full with this one. I get little goosebumps reading this. I love this author’s writing. It’s wonderfully creative and I think it’s just right for his target audience. Deliciously spooky with wonderful teen characters. Being a GenX, I love the 80’s references. This is another winner in my book. Keep them coming.

This book was good. I didn’t realize there were two others and I wish I read them before this. I liked the main character and thought she handled her obstacles well. The overall plot kept me engaged. I did read it from the lens that it was YA which is important if you’re looking for certain things within this genre. The 80’s references were good!

Spook Squad (Ghost Girl Series Book #3) by Allan Evans – Review by Angela Hayes

Spook Squad is the third book in the Ghost Girl series by Allan Evans. It is another wonderfully spooky YA paranormal story- perfect for ‘spooky season’. With drama, danger, ghosts, mystery, investigation, suspense, secrets, creepiness, tension, friendship, agendas, and high stakes, Mr. Evans ensured that his story held my attention and kept me flipping the pages to find out how it all plays out in the end.
Abbey isn’t your average teenager- she has an ability to talk to ghosts. But it also comes with some major pitfalls, which we witness as this story begins. Abbey is approached by an FBI Agent who needs her ‘special talents’ to help in track down some powerful artefacts before they fall into the wrong hands. With the help of her friends, they set off in search of the relics only to discover that danger follows closely behind. It seems that Abey and co aren’t the only ones on the hunt….
Even though this is the third instalment of the Ghost Girl series, it could be read as a standalone if you wanted. But, having said that, I highly recommend reading the first two books to find out more about Abbey and what ‘adventures’ she has had. As I think knowing what has happened previously will help you better appreciate this story, and series as a whole.
Get set for an exciting, spooky read.
Happy Reading!

Thank you, Allan Evans!

Spook Squad is the third book in the series that follows the adventures of young Abbey. Although this is the third book in the series the author has made it easy enough to pick up this book and not feel lost by providing details and a bit of a backstory on each character. It is a young adult paranormal story full of mystery, intrigue, suspense, danger, action, paranormal elements, ghosts, slime, and humor. The story centers around 14-year-old Abby who can see and talk to ghosts, which can be both a blessing and a curse. Most of the time Abbey can use her ability to help others but currently she has attracted some unwanted attention in the form of a domineering federal agent who insists on Abbey helping her. Abbey has a truly amazing support system with her friends who help her on her various adventures. The friendship between Abbey, Kelly and Lexi is truly admirable as they help each other out through both thick and thin. The author has done a great job of creating an intriguing storyline that flows nicely. The characters are well developed, interesting, and a bit quirky. I enjoyed this book so much that I fully intend to go back and read the first two books ‘Abnormally Abbey’ and “Class Clown”. This is a great addition to any library for both young and old alike.

14-year-old Abbey’s ability to talk to ghosts has saved both friends and strangers in need. But it’s also attracted the wrong sort of attention.
That attention arrives in the form of a domineering federal agent who insists that Abbey help her with something dangerous. She tells the story of a roguish fellow, Manfred Krug, who traveled the world as a fabled trader in the 1920s. As his diary details, Krug returned from Shanghai with artifacts holding the power to gather and focus otherworldly energy. The agent warns that if the relics fell into the wrong hands, it would be a disaster of biblical proportions.
Enlisting her ride-or-dies, Abbey, Kelly, and Lexi search some of the most haunted places in Minnesota. But someone else—someone dangerous—is after those same artifacts, and they’re right behind Abbey and her spook squad.
