This book had me smiling right away! Reading what Brynn thinks of some security guards she interacts with as the photographer hired for a 7year old birthday party. If you have me smiling while reading, you’ve got me hooked. I enjoyed reading how Brynn and Levi find each other again after other failed relationships. Having a second chance with someone you were in love with when you were young is amazing. I’m so glad I gave this book a chance. Can’t wait to read more!

This sweet romance with some spice was such a great read! It has real life issues to make you relate to Brynn and Levi. And all the other characters! I love Tia and her bold personality not to mention her protective nature for Brynn. A lot can happen in ten years and that’s exactly what Levi and Bryan realize when they stumble back into each others lives. With the way things ended and all the time that has passed its hard to see a future. Fate may have other plans for these two! This is definitely a great read!

For lack of a better name, sports-based romances are slowly becoming a new favorite romance trope of mine! I read a few last year that I absolutely loved and was reminded why when reading this book! One thing I particularly liked about Brynn and Levi’s story is that there is a definite role reversal going on here in that the moment Levi sees Brynn he knows what he wants and begins to pursue her, not the other way around like it normally is. I was also quick to connect with Brynn due to her complicated relationship with her mother and seeing many similarities to my own relationship with my mom. I was happy that this isn’t the end of the series, and am excited to read the next book in the story!

Wildcat: A Steamy Firefighter Romance by Carina Alyce
4 out of 5 Stars
This fast moving, steamy romance is the story of Leslie McClunis, a retired ballerina turned firefighter. Leslie is not welcomed at her firehouse due to outdated thinking. Leslie is fighting for her place in the department as she is battling fires and, unfortunately, her own teammates.
Trevor Hampton was looking for a little stress-relief when he attended a painting class. Instead, Trevor met a fiery Leslie. Trevor couldn’t get over Leslie’s tenacity. It was something that he rarely saw, even on the field as a NFL defensive end. The attraction was so strong that he tracked Leslie down after what was supposed to be a one night stand. He couldn’t get her out of his mind. She was a distraction he didn’t need. What he didn’t know was that she was the best thing for him.
As Leslie and Trevor’s relationship heats up, so does Leslie’s fight at the firehouse. After an incident at a fire, there are shenanigans at the firehouse that leave injuries on all involved. Trevor tries to convince Leslie to let him use his fame to help her, but she says no. Trevor finds a way to help without putting a bigger target on Leslie’s back.
The story is fantastic. It moves fast and you better be ready to keep up.

Wow!! This second chance romance was an amazing page-turner; I read it in only a couple of sittings! The author brings the cast characters to life, allowing the reader to envision the story unfolding right in front of them. While it is a second-chance romance, leading the reader to surmise what will happen, there were so many twists and unfoldings from the past that there is still mystery within the story. The authors writing style is engaging and she really knows how to tell a story! Brynn and Levi’s story will leave you breathless; can they overcome their past to find love again? Pick this one up! I cannot wait to read the next in the series!

This is the first book in the Astoria Bay Thunder series and is 261 pages in length. Levi is the Captain of the Astoria Bay Thunder hockey team and Brynn is new in town looking for a new start. She ends up winning tickets to the hockey game. Although she does not care for hockey, she decides to go anyway. To say it was a shock seeing someone from her past is an understatement. She has been asked to do the photo shoot for the hockey team. Can her past love become her future?

The author balances romance and steamy, erotic passion perfectly. The storyline felt both realistic and unbelievable, though several of the unbelievable events were factually based. The author found a way to develop the characters without being predictable. I can’t wait to read additional books from the series.

I really enjoyed this book. The way the author brought out the issue of women’s equality in the workforce was brilliant. She was able to show the good and bad of each side, leaving me as a woman angry at times and cheering at others. The relationship between two people who met accidentally at an art studio had fireworks bursting between the two. Both are very highly motivated in their field of work and show that if you fight hard enough and have the right support anything can happen.

Wildcat: A Steamy Firefighter Romance (MetroGen After Hours Book 1)
Had no expectations when I started this book, this is a new to me author but I decided to give it a go and glad I did.
Most of the story takes place in the 90’s and it was a trip down memory lane for me. Not a Browns fan but remember their move to Baltimore and how upset their fans were. But I was also reminded how far woman have come in the in the last thirty years.
Leslie was one of two female fire fighters and now it’s not uncommon to see a woman with a unit. Leslie was stronger than I ever could have been both physically and emotionally and I wish there was some way to Tha k woman who were in her shoes for all they did.
I loved the way she met Trevor and how she stuck her to guns about her life and career.
I’m looking forward to reading more by this author in the future.

This was such a great read. I absolutely loved Brynn and Levi’s book. They dated as teens but, then of course they broke up and neither one ever forgot eachother. Now Brynn is here after a divorce, struggling to pay her bills and she ends up being hired to photograph a little brat’s birthday party but, the thing she doesn’t realize is, being at this party and meeting one person in particular is about to change her life in more ways then she could ever imagine. This book was definitely a 5+ star read for me. I loved the characters and the way everything happened. Such a great read! Looking forward to more by this amazing author.

Hockey Romance does nothing but make you smile and give you all the good feels. Sports and Romance go hand in hand, and the second chance trope only enhances the dynamic.
Levi and Brynn’s story spoke to the heart. A history in which they were high school sweethearts who would have been more had family not intervened. 10 years later the Hockey star and the Divorcee get their second chance. A story proving love never dies and second chances can be given anytime. You will feel this story and the character emotions until the very last word, and it does not disappoint.

The inter-weaving of genres is awesome in this book. The fact that the male and female main characters have history is cool. Brynn is trying to get her life together after a divorce and Levi is the captain of a Hockey team. The development of characters and story line was well planned and really written well. I really enjoyed the Cabin photoshoot. That had to be my most favorite part. I am a new reader to this author but I will definitely be picking up book 2 when it comes out.

When high school sweethearts get a second chance?!?!? It happens and it happens often, but little do Levi and Brynn know it’s about to happen to them. A sweet story of hurt and betrayal but not like you would think. High school sweethearts a trust fund baby and someone from the wrong side of the tracks. Think Pretty in Pink to set the scene, the difference is it’s the one from the wrong side of the tracks that sabotages the relationship. Of course at the request of the family. Levi was once asked this question, “if you truly love her you will let her go, don’t let her throw her life away for someone who can’t provide for her…” That decision being the worst of his life, being it’s now 10 years later and still has thoughts of his 1st love. Brynn, newly divorced and struggling to survive, refuses to ask her family for help. One job that she needs desperately, meets Bridger who is about to completely disrupt her whole life, indirectly that is. See Levi is the captain of the pro-hockey team he and Bridger are members of. Bridger invites Brynn to help with a job unbeknownst that her high school sweetheart, the man who devastated her, would be there. What happens when Brynn and Levi meet again? Is the connection instant or are they distant? Do they rekindle what they once had? If you want to know those answers, I’d advise you jump right into Power Play. Power Play is a second chance romance that doesn’t disappoint! Oh and I can’t wait to read Bridger and Tia’s story next!

What do you do when life hands you limes? For Brynn Mackintosh she decides she needs a new town and a new occupation. Following her dreams finally, but life still is handing her fruit this time it’s lemons. Levi Fawkes has not had a commitment since the love of his life was torn from his life. He threw everything he had into hockey. Two worlds about to collide will fate intervene or will it leave them wanting more??

Wildcat by Carina Alyce was the first book I had read from her. I enjoyed the book thoroughly as it was a quick read and very steamy. I enjoy books that I learn from and in Wildcat where the main female character is a firefighter and the main male character is a pro Football player I learned different aspects in both fields that I had never known or thought of.
It did catch me off guard at first and took a couple of chapters to be able to follow the story-line. However, once I was able to figure out what was happening it was very much an enjoyable read. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a steamy, quick read.
Leslie McClunis is a ballerina turned firefighter. The men in the department think she needs to be more “feminine” and that women don’t belong. She’s determined to show them she can do what they do; including kicking one night stands to the curb in the morning.
Trevor Hampton is a big, tough football player who is not used to being told his time is up. So when Leslie tries to say goodbye, he’s determined to take their one night as far as he can.
This story was short with quite a bit of fire in the bedroom. I really enjoyed the characters and felt that Leslie’s firecracker attitude was portrayed nicely. However, throughout the story are journal entries that I felt didn’t progress the story and felt really out of place. I’m not sure if I’m missing something that the MetroGen after hours series builds on or if more will be explained in books to follow.
If you like spicy scenes and spicy women, you’ll definitely enjoy parts of this book. I wish there was more buildup and more story for sure. I do plan to see if I can learn more in the next part of the series because it felt incomplete to me.

When I grow up, I want to be half as strong as Leslie McClunis. The things that she deals with and pushes through is a testament to how under-rated many women are. She goes for what she wants, she will fight with her last breath to get it, and I feel bad for whoever gets in her way.
Trevor is laser focused on his game, which makes Leslie’s appearance in his life totally unexpected. A small, red head, spit fire that would chew him up and spit him out if he let her. Too bad for her, he is after so much more than she’s willing to give. Will true love win out?
The book is told in multiple perspectives, one of which in the form of journal entries. I enjoyed the glimpse of the future at the start. Enough information to give you something to root for, but vague enough that it still had you guessing at the details. I didn’t totally understand the significance of the POV told in journal entries, but it did add and air of mystery and intrigue, so I didn’t mind it. All in all, this book was quite steamy! The plot was enjoyable and the characters were easy to root for. I read this book in a day, and enjoyed the entire ride. If you are looking for something steamy, romantic, and intriguing, definitely give this book a shot! I definitely intend to pick up the next!
Love me a good sports romance. Also a second chance and forced proximity romance.
I really enjoyed the role reversal that this author uses: I usually see the female as the one who knows who the other person is and is the one going after their love interest, but here Levi is the one who realizes who Brynn is and is the pursuer.
I liked that there was still a buildup of the chemistry between the characters rather than a “I used to love you as a kid, now you’re here, lets fall into bed” situation.
I love the sexy calendar fundraiser aspect to this story. Of the ones I’ve read that does something like that I found that this author did it the best. Also, I want that cabin in the woods for myself! Maybe Levi can make a guest appearance ;-P
I absolutely adore the side characters, with Tia and Bridger being the most prominent (oh the tension there!). I can’t wait to read their story (book 2) and how they find their HEA (this is romance, so a HEA— Happy Ever After— is expected). I also adored Xander and his gentleness. I can’t wait to read about him.
This book does mention characters from another book, and whets the appetite for that story., but that one is technically not part of this series. As this is the first book I’ve read from this author I’ll certainly be adding that to my TBR list.

Power Play (Astoria Bay Thunder Book 1) by CJ Cartwright
5 out of 5
I love hockey and I love steamy romances. This book brings those two things together in a wonderful story of second chances and finding the one.
Brynn Mackintosh is starting over. Brynn needs to find a place where she can be happy and escape the past. Brynn has decided to follow her dream of becoming a fine art photographer but she finds that it isn’t as easy as she thought it was going to be. On a chance, Brynn takes a job that offers to double her normal fee. At this event she meets Bridger, a man that will help change the course of Brynn’s life.
Levi Fawkes has been playing for the Astoria Bay Thunder for ten years. He is the team captain and resident man of mystery. Levi is always ready to help out with the many charities that the team funds. When a promotion between one of the charities is combined with a radio contest winner, Levi is brought face to face with the one that got away, the one he walked away from when he was 18, the one he has missed and longed for everyday since.
Can Levi explain what happened when he left? Can Brynn forgive Levi? Can the ghosts of Brynn’s past haunt her future with Levi? Is there any hope?
The cast of characters starting with Brynn, Bridger, Levi and Tia are fun and enjoyable. I can’t wait for the next book. I love the way the stories are interwoven and will be a part of each other’s stories. The author is amazing at making you feel each character’s emotion. The details in the descriptions paint vivid pictures, like the photo shoot in the shower or with the lumberjack! Jump into this series now! Don’t wait. It is going to be one helluva ride!!

I loved this book! This was a really good read! I give it 4.5 stars though for a few reasons. While the story was incredible and the female MC was a complete baddie, and this book was so positive and steamy and everything you could want, there were a few scenes I just didn’t understand. The end didn’t make a lot of sense to me, but the author ended it well for the next book. And since it is a sports and football related book, there was sport talk and I’m not the biggest person at understanding it, especially since I was barely alive when these major sports events took place. But overall this Adult sports romance was incredible. It was funny, it was sweet, it was steamy and very quick. I can’t wait to read the next installment to this series!
I really enjoyed this steamy sports romance that gets you hooked from the first page. This is a new author to me and I will definitely be reading more of this series for sure!
When you meet Leslie, she is all about being a firefighter and lots of sass. She meets Trevor and everything changes. At first just one night leads to Trevor wanting more and I loved that Trevor was also very devoted and focused on being great in the NFL. At first, I was not sure about Leslie, because of how she came across to the point of being downright rude, but the more I read this book, I saw why she came across stubborn, rude but also passionate about being a firefighter. I loved Trevor’s character and just his love for Leslie and his love for his football team as well with his drive and focus on winning.
This is a fantastic read and I highly recommend this book!
This is a sexy read and worth every page! Leslie is a firefighter woman who is being bullied by the men in the firehouse. Trevor is a football player who usually only focuses on his game, but it was fate. They met at a Bob Ross paint event, and the love fell in the air with happy trees. There is a lot of love, sex, drama, and so much more combined. I could not stop reading this, but once again, worth it! 🙂
This was a quick and easy read! I haven’t read this author before but was excited to start. This had a little bit of everything, sports mixed in, romantic suspense, sweet and steamy! So much fun. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series, and other books by this author! If you’re looking for something quick and fun then this is for you!
Lesile Mculins been told to act more femime annoys her why can’t she just be herself. Annoyed at her present situation and now she’s been treated . Trevor he’s a headstrong man and caring. I really like this character. It’s Steamy hot and quick. I actually wish this book was longer and more to it. Very enjoyable kick read.

Opposites do more than attract in this steamy romance, they explode in heat! Despite her tiny size, it’s a good thing Leslie is a firefighter. Reading what she goes through makes me want to fight for women’s rights. Trevor is more than a football player, he’s a man among men. Supportive, sexy, and three times the size of Leslie. Whether he’s sacking a quarterback or dancing in ballet tights, he’s a man all women would like to spend time with. I don’t know football, but I had no problem following the plot in this sizzler.
Wildcat: A Steamy Firefighter Romance by Carina Alyce. This was a steamy, hot short read. Its the story of Leslie McClunis who has always had to work twice as hard as anyone else to get where she needs to be. She is a firefighter at Firehouse 15 and of course she is outnumbered by her male coworkers. Having to prove herself day in and day out is exhausting and she really doesn’t have time for a romance. When she meets Trevor Hampton who is a football defensive end she is shook. She is used to having one night stands and never wanting anything to tie her down but Trevor is different. She can’t get enough of him and he feels the same way. She can’t believe that she is even thinking about settling down but something about Trevor makes her want to. Will she be able to continue working day in and out at her job and have a relationship? Read Wildcat to find out!
This is the first book I’ve read by this author so I really wasn’t sure what to expect. I was really intrigued by the synopsis and couldn’t wait to read more about the characters, but once I started, I found myself feeling slightly disappointed.
The storyline itself didn’t really flow, the pace of the storyline is incredibly fast and a little bit choppy as there was also diary excerpts that didn’t really seem to fit into the storyline.
The relationship between the characters developed really fast, and I wasn’t able to catch up and really feel the connection and romance between them. I am all for a confident, strong and independent woman I just had a hard time connecting with Leslie.
Though this wasn’t my favourite book I am all for second chances and will definitely try something else by this author in the future.

This book is book one of the series. I absolutely loved this second chance romance!
Brynn and Levi have a past. Because of Brynn’s meddling mother, they went their separate ways. Now post divorce, Brynn’s life is a lot different than she thought it would be. After setting her dreams aside for far too long Brynn decides it’s time she do something for herself. On a whim, she wins tickets to a hockey game, never imagining coming face to face with Levi. Will Brynn and Levi be able to use this second chance to their advantage or is the past too much to bare?
I really enjoyed these characters. Brynn is resilient and I really enjoyed that about her. Her whole life changes and she just rolls with it as tough as it is. I really enjoyed her and Levi together as well. Can’t wait to read more of this series.

5 Stars Power Play (Astoria Bay Thunder Book 1) by CJ Cartwright
Power Play is the first book in the Astoria Bay Thunder Series. This is a Second Chance Hockey Romance that once you start reading you won’t want to put down till you finish. The characters are relatable and fully developed and the authors style of writing simply amazes me. This second chance romance had my emotions all over the place . Levi is the Captain of a local Professional Hockey team and Brynn is recently divorced and trying to get her life back. These two had a summer romance years ago and now he wants to win her back, she’s the one that got away and he never stopped loving her. Can they reunite? Is it to late for them to have a relationship? The chemistry between these to wow! I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. This is definitely a great start to this series I can’t wait to read more from this Author.
