OH MY GOODNESS!! This trilogy didn’t disappoint!! I love how they can be read as standalones but I highly recommend reading all three books, you won’t be able to put the book down!

Malina
Safeguarded from a past that haunts her but she can’t tell anyone about it. She suffers in silence. Working the SEALs was the greatest job she could have ever dreamed of, but working with Tyler Hale, her crush from high school was harder than she thought. Despite their constant banter she always tried to keep him at arms length she wasn’t willing to let anyone else in. But after a night a Vegas and finding out some very surprising news, only to Tyler to drop another bomb on her lap. She returned the favor by revealing her secret. To top it all off she was on the run because someone was trying to frame her something she didn’t do and the only person she thought of to help her was Tyler, so she escaped to his island. Now it was time to trust someone with all her truths, including her past that she never spoke of. But in the end can her and Tyler have a true relationship? Is he willing to believe her and help her? Is she willing to love for the first in a long time?

Tyler
Working along side Malina could sometimes be touture but he lived for getting under her skin, it was the only the way he knew how to interact with her. He knew she had a lot of sadness in her, that much he remembered from high school. Now was the chance to make her his. She was the one that got away, he wasn’t ready for a committed relationship, but now he more than ever. After Malina shows up on his island he’s surprised but happy. But finding out why she is there and how she is being framed. He is all in to save and protect the woman that he loves. But one night during a game of cards/truths, secrets are revealed. Now he will do anything to protect her more than ever. She finally opens up about her past he finally understands why she was so safeguarded, but no more running from their feelings. But first he has to prove her innocence. In the end will he be able to keep her? Can he save her?

This book was so amazing! I didn’t want the story to end. This is book has surprises around every corner. Tyler and Malina have always wanted each other but it time to make that dream a reality, after and when they conquer the threat on Malina’s life. He will do anything to ensure her safety.

Slash and Burn (Nite Fire 4) by C L Schneider – Review by Starri Howard

Slash & Burn (Nite Fire, #4)Slash & Burn by C.L. Schneider
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was better than the second and third! I definitely didn’t see a lot of the things coming that happened. What happens after you rescue your best friend/sidekick’s sister and barely survive the last visit Drimera? Well for Dahlia instead of things going up things go down. She finds out the truth about someone she has known for a very long time and even considered him a mentor. But what do you do with the information? What do you when you find someone who is close with your partner but they believe him to be dead? What do you do when the sister you just rescued willing goes back to Drimera with Aidric and Alex Creed? And to top it all off all hell breaks loose on their world. Welcome to the apocalypse! This book had me hooked with every twist and turn. I’m so glad I stuck with series and if there is a 5th book I will be reading.

Smoke and Mirrors (Nite Fire 3) by C. L. Schneider – Review by Starri Howard

Smoke & Mirrors (Nite Fire #3)Smoke & Mirrors by C.L. Schneider
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Secrets are a dragon’s best friend. Deception is a close second. Half-dragon shape-shifter Dahlia Nite lives undetected among the humans. Walking in two worlds, belonging in neither, she wraps herself in a shroud of lies to hide in plain sight. But nothing stays hidden forever. When dismembered bodies of multiple species are dumped on the riverbank, the case falls to Dahlia and Detective Alex Creed. Backed by Sentinel City’s new task force, the pair finds themselves urged to find answers. Bouncing from one crime scene to the next, they hunt for a clear motive in a murky sea of conflicting evidence. Already on edge from the recent string of unexplained crimes, the city begins to unravel. Drowning in missing creatures, slaughtered remains, masked men – and the search for her best friend/sidekick’s missing sister. Seeking answers, she uses her empathic abilities and uncovers something deeper and more threatening than a simple serial killer’s web. As the dots connect and worlds collide, she struggles to shield her friends from the truth. But secrets can be deadly. And Dahlia’s not the only one who keeps them.

Smoke & Mirrors is the third book in the Nite Fire series.
It isn’t holding my attention like I hope it would but I’m committed to finishing the series to know how the complete story unravels.

Chain Reaction (Nite Fire 2) by C L Schneider – Reviewed by Starri Howard

Chain Reaction (Nite Fire #2)Chain Reaction by C.L. Schneider
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Chain Reaction is book 2 in a four book series. I won’t lie there were moments that it dragged on and I couldn’t hold my attention; but I am so happy I stuck it out. We pick up where we left in book one, strange things are happening at an alarming rate. The only person (human) that knows Dahlia secret is her best friend and cop Casey Evans, it wasn’t part of her plan for him to know but now that he does, he is more than happy to be Dahlia sidekick. But has things get worse and Oren isn’t always helpful she is leaning on Casey a lot for help. But he isn’t the only one wanting to protect and help Dahlia, Coen(s) wants to help her and he stays loyal to his word. Her and Reech reach an understanding because they have a common enemy. As a drug, Chrysalis is going through the city causes death and mutation. But as an elder takes on a very powerful person’s identity. Dahlia has to put a stop to it but it always mean letting her partner Detective Alex Creed in our her secret partly because him not knowing would put him in more danger than knowing. But as one her biggest fights comes, can she and does she have what it takes on an elder? Dahlia Nite may only be part human but she finding out new things about herself and she is stronger than she thinks IF she uses it correctly.

Can’t wait to read book 3!

Nite Fire- Flash Point Book 1 by C. L. Schneider – Review by Starri Howard

Flash Point (Nite Fire, #1)Flash Point by C.L. Schneider
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book in the Nite Fire series. It started out kind of slow but keep up with it, I promise it is worth it.

Dahliah Nite, a supernautal crime scene cleaner, empathic shapeshifter, fire throwing dragon hybrid; half human half dragon; as known as a Lyrriken. She is exiled from her world, it had been 97 years since she made her escape. She is hiding, or at she is trying to hide. Coming back to the small town even though she had lived there previously can be risky. She is recognized by one human, he believes her to be a vampire and she hasn’t done anything to deter his thinking, the less he knows the better. But when she is put on a case involving fire she knows it was Lyrikken involved, but she doesn’t know why and why so many lives. As she gets deeper into the cases, running to lyrikken trying to figure out who she can trust and who is here to come to cause harm. She is partnered with Officer Evans, neither are good at working together. But has these progress she has to decide who she can trust and solve the murders/fires. But saving Evans after he accidentally stumbled into another world. She has to save him but just how much of the truth can she tell him, he already had suspensions. The book is a really good read it does take time, it is a rollercoaster but I can’t wait to read book 2 to see how the story continues. And what happens with Dahliah and Evans.

I could NOT put this book down either!!

Kayla
On the run after her abusive ex boyfriend almost killed her, she runs to the one place she knows home. She had to be smart about though, and running into Jaxon was not part the plan. Seeing Jax after all this time brought feelings she never let go off. Not only was he her brother’s best friend, but he was her first everything. But staying with Jax just might the safest thing for her to do but also the hardest, having to the face the past and coming clean about what’s really going on with her. Trusting Jax won’t be easy but she never stopped loving and he always did make her feel her safe. But letting all her feelings and truths out, will it be damning or can Jax keep her safe?

Jaxon
He never thought he would see the girl who stole his heart when they were just kids but here she is back home, but something is wrong, she’s covering bruises and lying, and she’s scared. He will do everything in his power to protect her. He let her go so many years ago and he wasn’t going to let her slip away again. He will protect her at all costs. But will she still have him after all the secrets come out?

I loved the second chance/brother’s best friend romance. I love the suspense and how love con conquer all, if you are wiling to trust again.

I want to start by saying absolutely loved this book! I read in one day.

Riley
She is a down to earth girl and the girl next door type. She works at a local coffee shop while she takes some courses at a nearby college. In the beautiful Hawaii, she thought she had life planned until her messy break up with her boyfriend, which happens to be one of your professors. He won’t take no for an answer. Meeting Xander wasn’t something planned but she couldn’t him out of her head. Maybe he is exactly what she needs, but when bad things start happening to her and she is feeling threatened she can’t understand why she feels so safe with Xander, but can what they just started survive the nightmare that is her life?

Xander
Fresh home after an accident in the Navy SEALs. All he wants to do is get the month out of the way so he can return to work, what he didn’t plan on was meeting the girl that literally take his breath and consume his every thought. As they become friends and more, strange and terrible things start happening to Riley and Xander will do anything to protect and make her feel safe.

This story has it all, love, suspense, twists, and turns. I highly recommend the book and I would even re-read it myself.
