Falling for a Star in the City is the second book in the Stars in the City Series. This is a YA Romance that will have you turning the pages till the end. I highly recommend reading the first book in this series as it’s just as good as this one plus you get to know the characters better. The characters are relatable, fully developed and creative. They make the story come to life. Paige and Viktor , she thought she had it all, dream job perfect boyfriend. When her job is reduced she finds herself with an internship for a local tv station Sports department. Viktor is a college hockey player. These two definitely have chemistry between them. They both have issues but can they overcome their issues and have a relationship they both deserve? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I’m looking forward to reading more from this Author

This was a really nice second chance romance for the YA set. Life falls apart and you get all the teen angst and everything that goes with it. I came away feeling that it gave a pretty realist little view of teen romance. It had you feeling all the motions. It was pretty easy to become engaged with the story. The writing was good and the characters were very well developed.

Falling For a Star in the City is the second book in the Stars in the City Series by Krysten Lindsay Hager. It is a contemporary YA romance – with all the (teen) drama, angst, tension, and emotion you might need to keep flipping the pages. It is also a little bit of a journey of discovery too, as Paige grapples with (re) finding and re-defining herself after her ‘perfect’ life’ crumbles before her eyes. Having to reevaluate and pick up and ‘start’ over again brings its own challenges. With fate providing a new love interest- even while her first love seems to want to rekindle their relationship. What’s a girl to do? It also takes a look at dealing with fame, finding new purpose, and realizing what’s really important. The story also has some sweet moments that even my old, jaded heart, flutter for a beat or two. If you love YA romance, sports romance (hockey), a love triangle(ish) vibe, angst, emotion, and sweet scenes- then you will definitely want to grab a copy of this to read. Happy Reading…

Falling for a Star in the City is the second book in the Stars in the City series by Krysten Lindsay Hagar. I really enjoyed the first book in this series so was really looking forward to this one. This story follows the story of actress Paige and hockey player Viktor. Paige is an aspiring soap star until her co-worker’s indiscretion ruins her chances at a leading role, then after a sudden break up her ex-boyfriend, a struggling musician is not so struggling anymore, Paige’s whole life has changed. She finds herself thrown into her back-up plan of journalism and confused about who or what she actually wants in her future. I liked this book, I enjoy a good romance and this book I really liked how the author wrote the characters. I would recommend this book to all romance lovers. Looking forward to book 3.

Falling for a star in the city is the first book that i have read by this author. falling for a star in the city is book two in the stars in the series but i have not read book one but i was still able to follow along just fine. Since i really enjoyed book one i would suggest if you start with book one. This was a wonderful young adult hockey romance. I really enjoyed the setting and following Paige’s character i really enjoyed reading about her and Viktors love and life’s adventures. I’m a romance fan i read a lot of it and this hockey romance i would put at the top of my list. So if you think this is your cup of tea i highly suggest you add this to your TBR list. Thank you to this wonderful author for writing this wonderful read i look forward to reading more books by you.

I had read one book by this author previously, and it left quite the impression on me, so of course I picked this one up without hesitating! I’m a sucker for anything YA including romance which makes this right up my alley. This story pretty much lined up with what I feel like life would be as an actress. The amount of drama, confusion, angst, and jealousy is apparent as Valeria melts into her soap opera role. When you add in seeing your first young love that got away, everything gets even crazier. I enjoyed this clean YA romance if you’re looking for an entertaining afternoon read. You’ll get drawn into the world quickly, and it will be over before you know it!

An enjoyable YA romance which kept me happily turning the pages. Soap opera actress Valeria Joseph seems to have it all, as working on the daytime soap Charmed Lives everyone wants to be her. When her friend Cecily arranges for her to meet rising pop star Dex Doyle the pair become the ‘it couple’. Valeria then bumps into Davis who was her first love and the one she never got over, who is now a college basketball player. With Valeria finding being in the spotlight challenging and Davis having his own high pressure stressors they are able to support one another. They soon find themselves falling back in love however, Dex is still crazy about her and is causing problems, whilst the publicity surrounding Valeria only gets worse when an award show event trends on social media for all the wrong reasons. With her life so full of drama her and Davis might have to fight to find true love. The New York City setting came to life through the descriptive narrative which made me feel immersed in the story. I felt engaged with Valeria in particular and so was invested in the outcome of the story. No spoilers, I recommend picking up the book!

This was an enjoyable YA contemporary romance. This is a story that has drama, angst, jealousy and a chance of romance. Valeria has it all from the outside. She is a successful actress on a soap opera and was dating the hottest heartthrob around. But when said heartthrob dumps her for her best friend it leaves her feeling alone and betrayed. Not liking the spotlight her fame brings she shys away from it. But when another actress from the show sets her up on a date with a up and coming star Valerie finds herself more in the spotlight that she wants to be. Will the extra attention prove too much for Valeria or will it uncover something she didn’t know? Add to this mix her old boyfriend Davis. Davis is her first love and after years he has returned into her life. Is the feelings they once had for each other still there? Will insecurities that they both harbour stop them from progressing before it starts? Has Valeria changed to much from the small town girl Davis fell in love with or will this be their chance to get it right this time? This was a well written story with a cast of characters, some I liked and some I didn’t. The author describes all the complex feelings and emotions that Valerie goes through which really allows the reader to understand her. I look forward to reading more.

The author did an amazing job in this contemporary romance book, giving the reader a view into what the life of what it might be like to be a young actor dealing with the limelight of the acting world. Our main character, Valeria, personality changes as she takes on her role in a soap opera, as she tries to live up to the expectations she deems as so important to live up to on social media. She has a shaky relationship with one of her co-workers, the main star Lance, who seems to only be interested in Valeria when it’s beneficial to his reputation. Partway into the story, we get to meet up with Valeria’s past love, Davis, who remembers the small-town girl who broke his heart and left to take her place in the acting world. Davis is unsure if Valeria moved on since all he continues to see on social media is that she is dating all these different big-time stars, from actors to musicians, wondering if she moved on from him so quickly. As Valeria and Davis try to reconnect and rebuild their relationship, they suffer insecurities, and misunderstandings, that make this hard to work through. Will Valeria be able to find herself, or has her acting career changed the small-town girl that Davis fell in love with, to never be her natural self again? Valeria is the normal teenager except for the fact that she is semi famous because she stars on a popular soap opera. Trying to navigate a relationship with another actor is so hard because every thing you do is in the tabloids so when the relationship blows up its all over the tabloid news. Valeria isn’t sure she can do this again. She is trying to finish high school and continue being a actress but its so hard. One day she happens to run into another ex on the streets and she realizes that she still has feelings for him. As they begin to get closer she is very happy but she’s not sure if Alan can handle all the media attention. Everything she does is out there because of her job. Will he be able to withstand all the chaos? This is such a good young adult romance!

I’m a huge fan of this author and have read several of her books . This one may be a favorite yet. Her attention to detail along with fully developed characters make for a wonderful story. This is packed with drama, teenage drama, jealousy, friendship and so much more. There are some sweet moments that tug at your heart and moments I was just shaking my head because sometimes things aren’t as they seem. In this YA sweet romance, one can find the wholesomeness of first love and the idiocy of teenagers. Valeria is a teen just trying to make friends while starring in a teen drama and completing high school. It comes along with the normal teen drama, except now it gets played in the tabloids, not just social media. Can you imagine breaking up with your boyfriend splashed all over ET and the front page of some gossip rag??
Valeria faces not only heartbreak but betrayal because the moment the ex dumped her via text (BTW), he started or possibly continued to date the person Valeria considered her best friend. All three of them star in the same TV show. Valeria now has to look at her ex with stars in her eyes for the cameras while trying not to feel hurt and sad. Add in rumors about firings due to decreased ratings.
Valeria manages to make friends with another cast member about her age. To sprinkle more drama into the mix, Valeria runs into her first love, Davis, on the streets of NYC one day. They start talking and reconnect. The only problem is that every aspect of Valeria’s life is immortalized in pictures and video, even random moments like her walking home from a non-date. The pressure becomes too much for Davis and he tries to walk away.
Valeria must overcome some of her own fears and insecurities to have a chance with Davis. With guidance from a surprising source, Valeria starts coming into her own. This sweet romance is a cute quick read.

Stars in the City is the first book of the series, by the same name. The book is definitely geared toward a teen audience. It is full of teen drama- jealousy, self doubt, back stabbing, social media trolling, etc. While it did contain immature characters, it was nice to see them evolve over the course of the book. Valeria is an actress, on a soap opera. She has some friends on the show, as well as frenemies. I really loved her relationship with Gloria, who is a bit of a role model for her. She is struggling with self doubt on the show, while having to navigate working alongside a co-star ex boyfriend. She is reconnecting with her high school boyfriend, who is a bit of a celebrity himself. He is a college basketball up and coming. They have a lot of unresolved feelings, and must learn to communicate effectively and trust each other, if they want to have another go at their relationship. The ending was a little abrupt, but the author stated their story will continue in book 2. This book wasn’t one of my favorites, but I did enjoy it, and would read the 2nd book to see how it all wraps up. I think teen girl readers would love the book.

This is a great YA Romance with relatable characters even though their daily life is very different to that of most of the books readers. It shows young actors trying to navigate work, life and love while also showing the pitfalls of being famous and how things truly aren’t always as they seem. I look forward to reading more of this series. I really want to see what is in store for some of the other characters.

This is a new too me author and this is the first book of theirs that I have read. I really enjoyed this book. I enjoyed reading about the lives of the cast of The Charmed Lives. I loved most of the characters except Lance. I didn’t care much for him. But that;s just my opinion.
Valeria was the main character of the story and I enjoyed reading about her. She dated her co star Lance for a little while until he cheated on her with her friend and co star Hayley. Now her High School sweetheart has come back in the picture , Davis.
Can her and Davis get back after all these years apart or will they find someone else.

Valeria Joseph is a young actress on a soap opera, Charmed Lives. She has been linked with her costar Lance but he dumped her for another fellow costar Hailey. So Valeria has been down on herself because this has been posted all over social media. So another fellow costar Cecily tried to see her up on a date with an up and coming singer Dex, who is friends with her boyfriend Andrew. After being seen in public with Dex things seem to be looking up for Valeria but that is short lived when Dex is seen with another singer Isla. However much to Valeria’s surprise her ex boyfriend Davis is at a college close to where she is living and close to set. They run into each other and start talking again. This book seems to glorify spinning the block (returning to an ex) for no reason other than your feelings. While this works well in novels and books, it’s not realistic, for some. Honestly, I’m not hating on it but it seems predictable.This book also highlights how to balance work, love, and ego which I can appreciate about it, nonetheless. So, if you’re looking for a Hallmark movie in book form, here you go. Again, I loved the book for reasons other than love: But that’s just my take.

This YA Romance is interesting book that had all of the teen angst and drama that i associate with YA. It even had drama filled moments and love triangles included. It was a cute story that was well written and clean (shudders in lack of smuttt lol) and i enjoyed the main characters, drama included. It just wasn’t really my kinda story but I think it would be perfect for someone that loves typical YA romance so definitely pick this one up if that’s your cup of tea. Happy Reading!

I have enjoyed reading books by this author in the past. I specifically like that she writes YA books that are clean that I feel comfortable getting for my daughter. It is fun learning about Valeria Joseph, how she feels about her life in New York, what happened with her on set boyfriend Lance, how things didn’t quite work out like she expected with him. To read how Valeria truly feels as she realizes how lonely a big city like New York can be and missing many of the life long friends she used to confide in. It has to be tough for a young actress to keep going!

Stars In the City (Stars in the City Series) by Krysten Lindsay Hager is a YA romance story- with all the teenage drama, friendship, angst, jealousy, romance, and emotion you could expect from a YA romance story. It also has some sweet moments that made even my old, jaded heart, flutter for a beat or two. As with the other books that I have read by Ms. Hager, this is a well-woven story, but definitely suited to a younger audience. If you love YA, romance, soap opera stars on the rise, emerging pop stars, basketball players, angsty teen drama, friendship, connection, first love, love-triangle-ish storylines, and sweet moments- then you will definitely want to add this to your TBR. This was a good 4 star read. This was a great story, I was pulled in right from the beginning. I really liked the characters, the author does a great job with her writing. You could feel the emotions with the character as she experienced them. If you are looking for a sweet YA romance this is the book for you. This was a quick read for me. It was a bit predictable but had some good connectable points despite its YA target audience. I enjoyed the characters and the overall plot. It was engaging and I felt that the story did have a nice overall flow. This would definitely hit better in the target audience than it did for me.

I loved this story. The author has a way of writing that leaves you feeling the emotions of the story. The writing was strong and very well-done for the age it was targeted at. I’m an old woman but I really enjoy reading this author’s stories because they remind me of the young adult books that used to come out when I was younger. You felt the story. The characters were exciting and intriguing. Overall, this is a terrific story for the YA/NA group. I’m going to read the sequel to it.

5/5 Stars This wasn’t my first read by this author or in this series but it can be read as a standalone. This has been my favorite book so far in the series! It’s well written and clean. It’s perfect for a YA audience and it’s appropriate.
