Savage Lies by Isla Vaughn – Review by Stephanie Tellas

“Moving to a new town and taking on a new identity was supposed to keep me safe. News flash, it didn’t. Instead, it put me right into the most dangerous place imaginable. Cole Savage’s line of sight.

Stupid, perfect, and one of four members of the untouchable elite. They’re the Academy’s football stars, gods among their peers. And from the first day of school, he put a target on my back. All because of one stupid kiss.

My secrets are dark and dangerous. But based on the fury that drives Cole to ruin me, so are his. We’re both facing destruction, and he’s determined not to let me win. He doesn’t know it, but he’s met his match. I’ll use his hate, and I’ll teach him that it burns as hot as his lust. And if he wants a war, I’ll give him one.”
Second story in the series, really enjoying the characters and the storyline, cant wait to read the rest of the series. Quick read, keeps your attention. I give this book 4 stars.

Born to Die (The McIntire County Series Book 2) by Winter Austin – Review by Stephanie Tellas

Born to Die by Winter Austin (2016-04-01)Born to Die by Winter Austin by Winter Austin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

“Trouble’s on the run in rural Eider, Iowa, and Deputy Cassy Rivers’s heart is in the line of fire. Two years ago, she barely escaped a harrowing experience at the hands of a maniac – and not without scars. Now a series of random robberies leads to the brutal death of a fellow officer, and she must put her trust in the one man who broke her heart. FBI agent Boyce Hunt knows commitment isn’t for men with pasts like his. He left Cassy once to protect her from the blackmail and manipulation he faces from his mother’s criminal enterprise. But when they reluctantly partner up to capture the modern Bonnie and Clyde terrorizing McIntire County, their attraction flames to life once more, pulling Boyce between two loyalties.
Will they risk their hearts again, even if it means losing everything?”
This is the second book from the series, I have not read the 1st one but thinking about going back and reading the first one to know the characters more. This was fabulous read, great characters, story, and suspense. Loved the whole book and also a quick read. Cant wait to read the next one in the series. I give this book 4 stars.

Xenia Navarro and the Magic Ants by Lois Wickstrom and Milagros Darling – Review by Stephanie Tellas

Xenia Navarro and the Magic AntsXenia Navarro and the Magic Ants by Lois Wickstrom
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

“Xenia and the Magic Ants could have been ripped from this week’s headlines. American sixth grader, Xenia Navarro lives with her Mexican mother, an undocumented resident, and her older brother Lucas in Pennsylvania. Her American father was killed while on duty in Iraq before marrying Xenia’s mother. Now their mother has been arrested and is about to be deported. Family drama becomes American politics, mixed with science fiction elements.”

This is not the typical book I will usually read, but I took chance on reading it. I am glad I did.
This story takes you through life with the kids with how deportation works, and how the kids experienced being without their mom and dad for a bit. In the story it explained how ICE works and immigration status works. Great characters. You will have to read the story to find out if happy ending or not?
I give the book 4 stars.
