My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ash is busking for some cash when a young woman catches his eye. He recognizes Calla from secondary school, where he remembers falling for her, although they never had a relationship. She is home in Braebeach from college for the summer, visiting the home of her grandparents where she grew up. Her relationship with her dad is nonexistent, and her mom is only interested in whatever new man she happens to be with at any given moment.

As Ash finishes up his playing and loads his car, he hears an “Ow” and turns to see Calla fall on her butt, holding her head in confusion. According to the witness, Calla was too busy staring at Ash across the street to see the giant road sign she ended up walking into. Ash snatches the opportunity to gather Calla up and get her to the hospital to be checked out.

As the story progresses, Ash and Calla both share their past relationships and experiences, inner turmoil, feelings for one another and their hopes and dreams. Since they both had been pining for one another for 5 years, they decided to take the summer with no promises and see where it leads. Both of them having opportunities to follow their dreams forces them to take a long look at how they feel about one another and what they’re willing to risk in one area to achieve what they want in others.

Cast of characters is excellent, there’s sweetness and a little spice, chemistry, inner turmoil, back story and a beautiful journey. I really enjoy these books.

Strings Attached (Braebeach Rockstar #1)Strings Attached by Loriana Cappello

How could I not be convinced to give this book a try? Second chance romances and a rock band? I’m sold! This story focuses on Calla, who has been away from her hometown for the past five years, and Ash, the boy who stayed and she’s been longing for. Their situations and passions had drifted them apart and now that they are together in the same location and the intense emotions are replayed again, will there be a chance now? Ash has his band taking off to exciting opportunities. Calla has been focusing on her studies but is Ash worth the risk? I absolutely love the characters’ vibes and connections. It really makes you contemplate if the person you love is worth the risk!

I absolutely loved reading about Calla’s and Ash’s story. I read a Love and Fate first, and then came back to read Strings Attached. I loved reading the backstory of the sweet couple that you see periodically in that second book. Timing is not Ash’s and Calla’s thing. Every time they meet back up something is in the way. But they still work through them. I love how the connection between the two never fades but keeps getting stronger with each meet. But alas, pressures start to come in at all sides and they can only promise “right now” instead of “forever”. This was a mostly easygoing story and had great word and story building!

Ash Chambers – Rock Star dreams spots his secondary school crush during the summer leave from university.
Calla Bryson – Literally runs into a pole when she spots her crush on her first day back home.

Home for the summer these two run into each other. Both have had feelings for each other since school and neither knew about it. Catching up with each other and rekindling their friendship has both wanting more from each other. With Ash soon to be signing a record contract and Calla finishing her last year in Uni to get her business degree, can they both handle just a short summer fling?
Are their feelings for each other strong enough to go past a summer fling? Can they handle a long distance relationship with the fame of being a rockstar, temptations, trust and unexpected turns? Will they be able to fight for their love?

This is the first book I have read by Loriana Cappello and I have to say I loved this second chance romance. It had the right amount of steaminess to it as well as drama. I was rooting for Ash and Cal and that love conquers. The story is well written with all the aspects that I would imagine in real life. I could not put it down. I am invested in the secondary characters as well; rooting for the best friends to find their happiness! I will say I was not expecting to see Scott’s past.
To also see the heart break song was a very pleasant surprise, if only pages could give me the melody as well I would have it in my constant playlist. I can not wait to see more from Loriana! 5 stars all the way!
