I have loved every book from this author and this one was just as good as the others. I will say you don’t have to read A Mother’s Threat first but it ties into this one so much I would recommend reading it first.
Karina makes a promise to her grandmother as her last wish that she will run the Café. What Karina doesn’t know is that her grandmother has held a secret all these years, several in fact, and will send Karina on a puzzle solving mystery. But will Karina find the answers once the main item comes up missing?
This book is a quick and easy read that will suck you right in and keep you guessing until the end. You will find yourself trying to figure out who the thief is and if Karina will figure out the secret. I love the happy ending this book gives because both Karina and Violet deserve a happy ending.

I’ve read both the first and now second of the Shadow Defense Security series books, and what I like about the series is that they definitely connect (overlapping characters, to a degree, the Shadow Defense Security Agency, etc.) but you absolutely could read them as stand alone novels as well. If I really had to choose, I enjoyed this book even more than the first; the character development was entertaining and I found myself incredibly invested in the progress of the crimes being committed (and whodunit!) Definitely recommend!

Secrets at the Cafe” by Susan Specht Oram is an interesting mystery with an enthralling plot centered around a loved one’s missing journal. Karina, the main character, goes on an adventure to uncover the truth behind her grandmother’s missing journal. The reader can feel the heartache of grief as Karina struggles to come to terms with juggling the cafe her grandma owned and finding the journal. I have read several of this author’s novels and enjoy her writing!

The PI fears the worst, that her best friend has been abducted and she starts her own investigation to find her. This plunges her into a dangerous world of lies, greed, and secrets, where politicians are corrupt, witnesses take bribes and suspects won’t talk. Jorja has no choice but to enter the dark underbelly of Istanbul’s city to find Gabriella. The intriguing storyline had me hooked from page one and the plot twists kept me guessing as to the outcome of the story. I loved the heroine of the story, Jorja and thought she was a great main character. The author brought the vibrant city of Istanbul vividly to life, making me feel immersed in the story. The book has perfect suspense and great plot twists.
Secrets at the Café by Susan Specht Oram was a wonderful addition to the other stories that take place in Millersville. I loved that she included characters from Shore Lodge and The Thieves. Bets and Zerk make an appearance in the first few pages, they are married and have left their life of crime behind. I absolutely loved the tie ins from the other books she has written. I look forward to reading more tales from Millersville!

Shadowed Agenda is the second book in the Shadow Defense Security series by Mavery Ellscott. It is another engrossing romantic suspense to follow on from Shadowed Obsession, the first book in SDS. This series is made up of standalone stories, each one focusing on a different operative of the Shadow Defense Security team. This time we get Pavlov Barislov’s story. We met him in Book #1 and I was immediately intrigued by the former Navy SEAL turned security operative who is also an author of thrilling novels. So I was excited to be able to get to know him better here. And WOW, what a story we got. Ms. Ellscott certainly put her characters to the test, and delivered a gripping read along the way. As I mentioned above, this is a romantic suspense, but it also has a bit of an enemies to lovers dynamic, danger, dramatic developments, tension, chemistry, agendas, action, and mystery – all the ingredients needed to keep me invested the whole way through. Renewed is the sixth book in the Fateful Justice series by Sara Vinduska. I think the cover of this book threw me off a little, as it gave me the impression of a sweet, Hallmark-esque romance- which would have been great – but what it delivered was so much more. And I mean that as a good thing. I probably should have read the blurb, but sometimes I just like to choose by the cover and see if the story meets my expectations. It is an engrossing romantic suspense with a bit of a forced proximity element, sexy cowboy, drama, adventure, intrigue, a little mystery, secrets, action, and tension. Ruby has left city life hoping for a fresh start away from her past. But things don’t live up to expectation when she ends up saving a sexy cowboy who’s bleeding out from a gunshot wound. Yeah, so much for the quiet county life. Things heat up pretty quickly, but when her past comes back to haunt her, Hayden steps in to help her. What happens? Jorja is back again in this mystery. This time, we are thrown into the world of Istanbul. Jorja has arrived excited to see her friend again. However, Gabriella doesn’t show up at the airport to pick her up. She heads to the guest house. Her friends things are there still, but no Gabriella. She gets this sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach, knowing that something has happened to her friend. She then sets off across all of Istanbul in the search for her friend. Roadblock after roadblock, Jorja starts to lose hope. Nobody is talking, and greed is the name of the game. This book was an absolute gem to read. I loved reading Jorja’s mystery adventures. Regan and Pavlo are both authors, yet neither wants to associate with the other on their book tour. When things start to go awry with the tour requests, Pavlo and Regan have no choice but to put their trust in each other if they have any chance of ending the chaos with minimal damage. I was immediately drawn to Pavlo because of his strong commitment to doing the right thing and Regan because of her ‘do it myself’ mentality. The characters are so likeable! Mavery Ellscott does a great job keeping the reader in suspense and constantly upping the stakes in an already high-stakes situation.

Who doesn’t love an intelligent sexy woman with just a bit of sass? This is a great romance suspense novel. I loved every page and I could not find it in myself to put it down. Will Pavlo be able to save Regan and will they ever learn? This was a fun read and I recommend.

Torn between who Jorja could trust in a foreign country and who she couldn’t, she has to find her friend. I found this book to be the perfect little mystery thriller. I recommend this book.

Secrets are everywhere, especially in small towns. This is not the first book I have read by the talented Susan Specht Oram and once again I couldn’t put this book down from start to finish. All Karina wanted to do was fulfill her grandmother’s (Gigi) dying wish, repayment in her eyes for her Gigi taking care of her after her parents passed away. Karina is a twenty-four-year-old woman that was making her place in the world in Seattle as an artist, selling her pottery and paintings happy and living her dream. Her Aunt Jean calls her to let her know that Gigi’s health is taking a downward turn, and she needs to come back home and be with her. Without hesitation Karina packs her belongings and returns to her small town of Millersville. The final moments of Gigi’s life she tells Karina to take care of her café and to read her journal. She tells her “There is more hidden in this house than you realize. After I’m gone, look for clues.” Surprised to learn she had a journal a month passes, and Karina is still unable to make herself go through Gigi’s things, her papers, her drawers, she’s not ready to fully accept that she is gone. One busy day in the café a customer, Boots Brinker, finds the journal, a red leather book, the first page she sees states that the stock market has crashed, and she pulled all her money out of her bank account and hid it somewhere safe. Instantly she regrets not going through everything, taking inventory of what was in the house because just as quickly as the journal was found it instantly taken. Lost to her hunger and attachment to the journal, Karina does some legally questioning things, sneaking around houses when invited in and pretending to trust some who offer to help her find it. Knight in Peril may be book #6 in this series, but I definitely think you could read it as a standalone, although I highly recommend that you read them all just to have a little background and insight into who Jorja is and the series as a whole is just fantastic. The suspense alone will pull you right in and you will not want to put it down. Jorja is a strong feisty lead character and relatable. She finds herself traveling foreign country (Istanbul) to meet her best friend Gabriella only to find her missing. Lots of lies, secrets and corruption and more as she is now in a race against time to find her friend. With danger lurking at every corner, you will have to read it to find out if they make it out or not. A definite page turner with plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing.

This is a very engrossing mystery with plenty of tension, suspense, action, adventure, danger, dramatic developments, crime and investigation, secrets, lies, greed, corruption, a time crunch, agendas, high stakes, abduction, friendship, and a savvy private investigator. To add an extra element of interest to the story, we are whisked off to Istanbul as this intriguing mystery unravels. We follow Jorja Knight, who we met in the previous books, as she is thrust into a search for her missing friend. They were supposed to meet, but Gabriella has disappeared. Now Jorja is left with the difficult task of searching for her friend in a foreign city with millions of inhabitants to make the task even more difficult. Add in the corruption, secrets, lies, and the urgency of the situation- and Jorja might just be facing her most difficult case yet- one that has hit too close to home for comfort. What happens makes for a gripping read. Even though this is the sixth book in the series, you can read it as a standalone without feeling like you are missing anything. Having said that though, the other books in the series make for great reading too- and contain their own intriguing mysteries for Jorja to solve. They also provide more character information, background stories, and other interesting details which, all combined, will definitely enhance your appreciation of this book, and the series as a whole. This is such a fantastic book! It is the second book in the Shadow Defense Security Series. However, it definitely can be read as a standalone but note that there is some character overlap. This is a fantastic security book that features a strong alpha male and an equally strong female main character. In this book, Pavlo and Regan are featured in a Slow Burn enemies to lovers story. Both Pavlo and Regan are fantastically developed characters who take you on a roller coaster of an adventure filled with major twists and turns. Mavery Ellscott is fantastic at creating a thrilling plot that keeps you guessing and on the edge of your seat with every turn of the page. It is her crafting on the plot that definitely has me anxiously awaiting the next book in the series. I definitely recommend reading this book!
This is my first book by this author which I enjoyed reading. I enjoyed how the author pulled me into the story with their attention to details that made it realistic. This is a well written story that is full of romance and suspense. The twists and turns are like no other and had me turning pages fast. Palvo and Regan are great characters. They are strong, connectable and their attraction pops off the pages. They have great growth throughout which made the story hard to put down. This is an easy, fast paced story that you don’t want to miss. This is the second book in the series but can be read as a standalone. I look forward to seeing more from this author. I highly recommend this book.
Nick and Julia are back in this final installment of the Painted Souls trilogy. This has been an incredible series. The author has done a meticulous job of researching details and such to include in this story. His writing is engaging as you read about the cult’s continued efforts to dominate. If you like mystery and suspense, this is one series that I would recommend. I would definitely say to read it in order.

“A Knight in Peril” by Alice Bienia is a gripping and thrilling mystery that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. The story centers around PI Jorja Knight, who arrives in Istanbul only to discover that her best friend Gabriella has vanished. As Jorja delves deeper into the case, she is thrust into a dangerous world of lies, secrets, and corruption.
One of the strongest aspects of this book is its atmospheric setting in Istanbul. Bienia’s vivid descriptions bring the ancient city to life, immersing readers in its rich history and mysterious allure. The author has clearly done her research, and the attention to detail shines through in the way she portrays Istanbul’s dark underbelly. Readers will feel as though they are walking the streets alongside Jorja, navigating the twists and turns of the city. And humor along the way, for example, a character who speaks Turkish and English can’t think of a “bucket list” and calls it a “pail list,” lightening the mood. (Side note- I also learned about another version of Cliff’s Notes, called Cole’s Note!).
The pacing of the story is excellent, with Bienia expertly balancing moments of high tension with quieter, introspective scenes. The sense of urgency is palpable as Jorja races against time to find her missing friend. The plot is filled with unexpected twists and turns that will keep readers guessing until the very end, making it a truly gripping mystery thriller.

Renewed is the sixth exciting action-packed book in the Fateful Justice series by Sara Vinduska. Each book can be read as a standalone and it does not feel like I missed out on anything. The book is well-written and the characters that are well developed, and with flaws and weaknesses that make them feel real. It is a sexy Cowboy suspense romantic tale that will have you falling in love with the characters and pages turning at the turn of events. I enjoy Sara’s writing style making the story easy to read as it flowed well. Renewed has an interesting storyline, a good plot and is fast paced with enough twists to keep you glued to the pages. With plenty of romance, action, suspense, danger, intrigue, mystery, dark secrets and drama there is something for everyone to enjoy. I am not going to share details as I think you should discover it all on your own. If you are a fan of dangerous romantic suspense, you will enjoy this book. I look forward to reading more in the series.

OMG. I loved the first book Shadowed Obsession but Shadowed Agenda is just as good if not better. I said before that this is an author to watch, and I still think that. Each book in the series can be read as standalones but I encourage you to read them in order because the characters interchange. I love books with Navy Seals, Security protection books and the like, as I love the adrenaline rush and strong alpha males in protective mode and equally strong female leads. Shadowed Agenda is the second book in the amazing Shadow Defense Security series by Mavery Ellscott. This engrossing slow burn read is an Enemies to Lovers romantic tale that is one thrilling ride with twisty turns keep the pages turning. What happens when the stakes just keep on getting higher? A tension filled fast-paced tale that will have your heart rate elevated and on the edge of your seat. There is a lot going on in this book. It is a thrilling tale that is full of drama, treachery, deceit, danger, action, intrigue, grit, suspicions, attraction and a touch of humour. The only way the story could have gotten any better is if there was a bit more “open” heat in the sex scenes and it was told in dual POV (my favourite way to narrate a story) but these are my preferences. The plot and the characters are well developed, well written, and interesting. I loved the push pull of the relationship and the sexual tension between them. Shadowed Agenda is captivating and highly entertaining and should be on peoples TBR list. It is kill or be killed in this high stake’s tale. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
Jorja Knight always makes for a fantastic read. She is an investigator I thoroughly enjoy reading. In this story, she’s in Istanbul and her bestie, Gabs, is missing. The author does a wonderful job of taking us on a mysterious adventure through the city. Jorja is following every lead she can. I don’t know how she’s not creeped out when her room is gone through.There are twists and turns through the story along with colorful characters that makes this an amazing adventure. A story I definitely recommend for mystery lovers.

I wasn’t sure at first if I was going to like this one. Susan has a writing style that is similar to Nancy Drew. However I kept reading. AND LET ME TELL YOU WHAT! Susan did not let me down. I found myself jumping to read more throughout my busy day just so I could know what happened next. Thank you Susan for another great read.
